How can you mess up a pre-made kolaches? Overcook it. I swear it tasted like it had been heated up more than once. The breading was ghastly. The Emilie was nice. read more

Being new to Ascension, I decided to try several local donut shops to see which was best. I found Mary Lee to be much doughier than the others; they almost had a gummy consistency, not light and airy like I was hoping for. Oh well... my quest for great donuts continues. read more

Coming from north LA I'm a lover and devotee of Southern Maid Donuts... however my niece and son turned me onto Mary Lee's and I'm thankful they did... Located in a little shopping center that contains the Prairieville location of Las Palmas Mexican restaurant this place is always busy.... excellent selection of donuts and other sweet derivatives of donuts along with tasty kolaches... If you roll in to grab a regular glazed (my favorite) they always give em to you warm.... the specialty donuts are out in the case and usually aren't warm... Made 2d stop in Super Bowl Sunday and ordered up a dozen glazed, a dozen and a half donut holes and 2 specialty King Cake donuts... I'm typically not a specialty donut guy but couldn't resist cause they looked so damn sexy.... alas I wasn't that impressed but my daughter loved her King Cake donut... but for me the regular glazed RULED!! I stopped here one morning on the way to work and boy, was I surprised! Warm and delicious are only two words to describe the glazed yeast doughnut I had. I avoided this place like the plague...because I'm a Krispy Kreme girl at heart (I'm from Georgia) and local doughnut place was NOT going to cut it. Living in Prairieville, the closest Krispy Kreme is on Plank Road right? No way I'm driving all the way there for doughnuts, if I'm not already in the area! I ate those words about Mary Lee's. I was craving donuts this morning and decided to stop by and grab some with the kids. I ordered a half dozen (sprinkled, Mardi Gras, 2 blueberry cake non glazed, chocolate and plain glazed). The kids enjoyed theirs. I had the 2 blueberry cake (specialty donuts). I found them to taste a day old. They were not good at all. They tasted dry and very BLAH! I've had these there before and it was probably fresh that day, because they were delicious. I'll probably go back again since it's so close to home and my family loves donuts. I guess I'll just ask next time to see when they were made. They also have seating and various morning beverages. The staff is nice and friendly. read more

97% of the time you get hot donuts! I wish they had more of a variety for kids with bright colors and different designs. Overall great quality and good service. Always greeted with a smile and the location is prime too. Plenty of parking. read more

They lock their doors 15 mins before they are supposed to actually close.. very disappointing.

This is an excellent little donut shop! The donuts are always fresh and tasty. My husband frequently stops in here to pick up donuts for morning meetings. The owners are always very sweet and helpful. They know how much I love their cinnamon rolls and will throw in an extra one for me on the house! The customer service is top notch here...can't find that as much anymore. Try the cinnamon rolls for sure, mouthwatering!! read more

Not only do they have fantastic donuts, but they also have wonderful customer service. They are fast and efficient when busy. And if you are there and it is slower, they will talk to you and get to know your family. I came here after not having been in several years and the owners both went out of their way to greet me and ask how I was doing. They are just sooo kind. I can't even count the amount of free donut holes this lovely people have given my children over the years. They love to spoil the little ones. PLUS their apple fritters are THE BEST. Customer service was good and donuts were good but the kolachies were the worst I've ever had. Basically a cheese hot dog inside flavorless bread. Stay away from those and everything else is great! read more
