I eat donuts regularly and try as many different donut places as possible. Bought about seven donuts here today just after 7:00 AM and two of them (chocolate bar and raised glaze) tasted very old. I threw away my chocolate bar after about two bites. The person who ate the raised glazed donut took a bite and complained that it wasn't fresh. I guess being a place that is open for 24 hours means that even if you get there early in the morning that you are not necessarily receiving a fresh donut. Probably one of the BEST donut shops in San Diego area!!! Once a year I attend a conference in the El Cajon area and one of the things I look forward to each year is that they bring in Mary's donuts for everyone to enjoy during the morning registration. I live about 25 minutes away from Mary's so it's not always my go to place. But this weekend we were in the area and we had an idea for treats for "Teachers Appreciation Week". I stopped by on Sunday after noon and picked up 9 dozen donut holes. The staff was so friendly and they really have a hometown feel when you walk into the shop. Tons of pictures of customers on the walls. I also loved that their windows were hand painted which you don't see often. While we were packing treats a few of the donut holes were "taste tested" Long story short...they were SOOOO good, that we decided at 6pm on a Tuesday night to make the drive back to Mary's for more!!! This time we also got Apple Fritters which were amazing. Really love Mary's donuts. As much as I wish there was one closer to me, it's probably best there isn't. I've been wanting to go to Mary's for a while now and finally made it out to Santee. I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and it was moderately busy. The service was quick and friendly! I got a dozen donuts (~$13) and a dozen cream puffs (~$6). The donuts were fluffy, pillowy, and the glaze was good. The cream puffs, however, were delicious! They had raspberry or creme filling, so I went half and half. The creme filling was my favorite! I honestly enjoyed the cream puffs more than the donuts. read more

As an LA native, I have always been looking for good donuts that meet the quality back home and I'm so happy to say I've found the jackpot! Donuts are so soft and the sweetness is just perfect. However, the service is not great. As soon as I walked through the door, the vibe was not welcoming. No one greeted us and I made eye contact with an employee and he said nothing. I felt rushed and he sounded so rude. I also did feel a little bit prejudiced because as a POC I was treated a little differently than non POC counterparts. They were definitely more friendly to other white people which left a bad taste in my mouth. Loved the cruller, it was the perfect texture and not overly sized so I didn't feel as guilty as I thought I would. I couldn't finish the blueberry donut but took a "sample bite" and it passed with flying colors. I didn't taste the cream puffs but homie did and liked them so there ya go! Serve yourself for the coffee and hot chocolate. If you like whipped cream, it's in a cooler up against the back wall where you'll also find creamer for your coffee. Sugar and coffee stirrers also stocked back there. The prices are cheap compared to some other donut shops. Good thing I don't live nearby because if I did, I'd be in trouble! It's clean inside and Angie was really nice (peep our selfie, haha)!! This is one spot you'll wanna try at least once. Great donuts at great prices, with stellar service! If you're in Santee, Mary's Donuts is the place to go for fresh, soft, pillowy donuts. I've been in several times and never had a bad one yet. I've had their bear claws, glazed, maple bacon, donut holes, lemon filled, and I LOVE apple fritters and their version is huge! One fritter would last me a whole week or can be shared with 2 or 3 other people. Customer service is fast and even with COVID restrictions, the line moves quickly. Awesomeness Stalgia place homemade family owned donut shop that's open 24 seven what? My wife and I left eastbound bar and Grill and headed over to Mary's donuts. To my surprise I was recommended a strawberry cheesecake, flavored doughnut, from who I'm assuming was the owner which was music to my tastebuds Got a bunch of mini ones. I forgot the name not the holes but the bear claw type of looking thing but in a small version it made me wanna get out my BMX bike and could do some jumps at the curb out.
