Shame on me for only just visiting this local favorite. I get it now. This place is really good! If you love a Tex Mex Breakfast, this is your spot for sure! Oversized Breakfast Tacos are the norm but they also have Breakfast & Lunch platters with many of the classics you'd expect. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. I was expecting at least a $1 more for things so enjoy that while you can. What stands out though are the fresh ingredients, with the large fresh tortillas being the star! Undeniably the best thing on the menu, so it's good they are served with every option. I loved my tacos! Huge, fresh, and memorable. I went with two special tacos that each delivered a punch of bold flavor and awesome texture. My wife enjoyed her Huevos Rancheros. I think this dish could have been executed a bit better but still a winner. This place is an absolute gem and is more than deserving of your visit. DO IT!

This place is super nice ,clean,very relaxing atmosphere most importantly,service with smiles. Open kitchen. You can see everything going on from making fresh tortillas etc. and the team work! Fantastic service! We went around 12pm and no line, plenty of seating and music being played wasn't to loud which I liked. When you walked in they had this Halloween display in the front, so cool! I ordered a pancake plate and these pancakes were huge! Came with eggs and bacon and fed me and my four year old! My partner also got 3 tacos and these things were HUGE AS WELL! Loved this location and would come again.

Mary's has been putting less and less in the tacos. Meanwhile we still continue paying $4 per taco. Waited in line for a very long time only to get home and see this wardy taco.

What a waste of time & money going here. 6 tacos $16. Ridiculous. We didn't eat there, we grabbed the tacos to go because we just left Texas Ground Coffee Co. And didn't want to drink our coffees in their restaurant. So we got them to go. We live 30mins away (San Antonio). Got home & saw all 4 potatoe & egg tacos were like this. Shameful. We wanted to support a small business & got this crap. Won't waste my time on this place ever again.

This is my first time here. The dining room was very cozy looking and comfortable. Bright decor and comfortable chairs. Food was very well plated and the tacos were great. Atrocious. Whatever they call asada street tacos is basically dog food grade steak boiled up and thrown unseasoned into a crappy tortilla. The queso? Orange cheese whiz ot whatever you would get from a can at a stadium. Thick. Unnatural color. Salty. The borracho beans? What beans? It's a soupy liquid mess. Mary needs to go back to taco school, bc this ain't it.

Mary's Tacos knocked it out of the park. My brother and his family took us there because we were in town for a visit and they wanted to show us their favorite breakfast taco place. When you first walk in the door you can see people making fresh tortillas right behind the windows. At this point, we're off to a great start because a tortilla is what makes or breaks a breakfast taco and using fresh, homemade tortillas is the only way to do it. Next step is ordering and the line is short and moves fast. We order our 7 breakfast tacos and the total price is like twenty bucks. Check mark #2 is that this place is affordable. We go and have a seat and have a few quick conversations. The place is clean and has a pretty good amount of tables inside. Our order is called like 3 minutes later. Check mark #3, the food comes out quick. I grab the food and divide up the tacos and we begin to open them. They're large, check mark #4. I dump both red sauce and green sauce on them and dig in. They're fabulous, check mark #5. Freshly shredded cheese, fluffy eggs, crumbled bacon and beans on one of them. The other taco had ranchero potatoes, Mexican eggs, cheese and beans (the macho Sean). I live breakfast tacos and this place crushed it. I wish there was one near where I lived. Mary's has it all, good food, good service, it's quick, and it's great value for your money. I can't wait to go back to San Antonio just so I can eat there again.

Fast, friendly, and absolutely delicious! The best tortillas EVER and the combination of flavors for their special tacos are insane and completely craveable! My mom has been after me every time I come to town to stop by Mary's and for good reason. Lesson here, always listen to your mom! She won't steer you wrong. Go to Mary's, enjoy a great cup of hot coffee, blow your mind tacos, and good company if you can.

Very clean and well run restaurant with great food and friendly service. They have a set menu and numerous specials that change frequently. You place your order at the cash register and find a seat, they call you up for your food when it is ready. There are a lot of employees working to make and prepare the food and also keep the restaurant clean. They also have a drive-through and to go orders. One cool thing is they have large windows where you can see the entire kitchen and also see the handmade tortillas being made and cooked in front of you. I have eaten several things here and all were very authentic and fresh and delicious. They even have large glass bottle, Mexican cokes as a drink option.

Saturday morning will find Marjan and I looking for the best tacos in the Alamo City. Searching Yelp for the area we happened to be, Mary's featured prominently on the ranking of taco houses. So, working our way through the ever crowded Bandera Road to Helotes, we found Mary's just east of the main business drag. Mary's has a history of Mexican fare, the first location in Kerrville, the second in Boerne and the Helotes location, in service for 3 years. There is ample parking, filled upon our arrival, servicing a newer structure, pleasantly designed and appointed. We noticed a line of cars waiting in queue for window orders, and entering the restaurant, lively, very casual dining rooms teeming with patrons. Right of entry is a large windowed tortilla area, 4 ladies rolling flour tortillas, and some preparing corn tortillas...home made!! Forward is the order station, with a limited breakfast and lunch menu posted overhead: the establishment closes at 1:30, but reopens later in the afternoon and evening for dinner. Behind the order counter, there is an island of foodstuffs, with at least 5-6 staff preparing breakfast orders, all working feverishly to complete the orders. When prepared, names are called and one returns to counter to retrieve the items. There is no waitstaff for tables, only staff bussing tables after use. Service was actually prompt, given the number of guests in line for food. The staff, uniformly pleasant and welcoming. We ordered three tacos, our usual for evaluating and comparing these offerings from different restaurants: carne guisada, chicken fajita, and the time honored bean and cheese...all on flour, given the very favorable reviews of this tortilla at Mary's. The carne guisada: easily the best of the three, with tender morsels of beef and a pleasing gravy. With an addition of salt, we considered a very competent offering. The bean and cheese: bland, lacking any real flavor, this a real feat, as most restaurants serve this staple almost as well as the other. We considered this a huge disappointment. The chicken fajita: dry, tasteless protein, filled with so few morsels of chicken, we thought a better name would be "tortilla taco, with a few, stingy sprinkles of chicken". Again a very major disappointment. Of the flour tortillas, I considered them commendable, but Marjan thought them a bit doughy in flavor. So friends, despite the apparent popularity of Mary's, we considered the offerings we ordered to be "meh", excepting the carne guisada. Marjan rates this eatery, 2 origami boots. We probably won't return, but rather continue our search for the best breakfast tacos in town. Sorry.

They kicked out a group of disabled military veterans, one who had a Guide Dog for the Blind in training, clearly identified on the dog's vest. The excuses included "the health inspector would not approve" and, to the dog trainer, "you are not blind." Apparently, the employee stating this was blind and could not read the dog's vest. read more

Mary's is one of the best taco spots in the area and surrounding areas as well. I love that they have so many specialty tacos to choose from which makes ordering super easy. Their tortillas are made fresh right in front of you and all their ingredients taste homemade and all the tacos are made to order. Being in Helotes you would think prices would be overpriced, but in fact are priced super inexpensive compared to other mexican restaurants in the area. Everything on the menu is delicious and you won't be disappointed at all! read more

I came here for breakfast on a weekday. The place looks nice and is clean. Plenty of room between tables to move around. The food prep area is open so you can watch tacos being made while you wait. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I had a couple bean and cheese tacos. They were not bad but not the best I've had around SATX. The tortillas were good but felt like they had a light coat of flour on them. Salsa was excellent. Sweet tea was okay. The customer service was not bad but they weren't friendly and inviting. Barely acknowledged me as I approached the register to order. No smile or greeting. I'm going to come back again some other time and try their lunch or dinner. read more

Best tacos in the city as far as I'm concerned. Sorry I didn't get any pictures here but I was so damn hungry I ate. I was not disappointed. The only draw back at this place is 2 things not enough tables and they're only open for breakfast and lunch. I'll be going back again and again. Next time I'll post up some pics. Excellent food AND customer service! I went into the Helotes location today to pick up an online order, but I accidentally put the order in for Boerne. They made my order anyway and called the Boerne location to let them know. They were so nice about my mistake. The tacos are AMAZING and very reasonably priced! We were anxious to try Mary's hoping it wud be good. We ordered the papa ranchera, barbacoa, chicharrón con chile, picadillo and papa con huevo with cheese tacos. They were alright, not great. Kinda bland. Also the chile wasn't hot at all, maybe the green sauce is better?? They were sold out of menudo by 9 so we weren't able to try that. Chicharrón was the best, picadillo the worst. Will try again tho, hopefully the menudo will be available when we go. read more

Marys Tacos is a Boerne mainstay for breakfast tacos. When you arrive you will likely be greeted by a line out the door and very tight parking. Push thru young Jedi! You effort will be rewarded. The line moves quickly and be ready to pick your tacos quickly as you view the preparation behind the registers. My favorite is the silent Sean. The dinning area is not that special so I always get mine to go. Hoping to see you in line soon on a Saturday morning. read more

Recently moved to the area and had driven by Mary's Tacos several times and wanted to give it a try. It did not disappoint for the most part! My son got the Enchilada plate, my husband got the Carne Asada Street Tacos, and I got the Bean and Cheese Gorditas. The enchiladas were pretty tasty and I barely got a bite to taste (they were quickly gone!). The carne asada was perfectly cooked, not too dry or tough! I did not enjoy the shell on the Gorditas but the beans and cheese filled me up along with a street taco and bite of enchilada. Lastly, we ordered the Queso and Chips as an appetizer. I thoroughly enjoyed them because it was Rico's cheese (my favorite) and the chips were hot and freshly cooked. I can't wait to go back and order Street Tacos for myself! read more

I love Mary's tacos. I used to go to the one in Boerne off a recommendation from a friend. Then I saw this one was opening and counted down the days. They have fresh tortillas, delicious fillings, and quick service. The place is big and clean and tons of parking (definite upgrade from Boerne). They also do good tamales! read more

Someone the best breakfast tacos I had in San Antonio. They are fast if you order online and pick up ; reasonably price unusually pay 7ish for two tacos and a soft drink. The tortillas are made in-house and you can definitely tell the difference because they are yummy! read more

We've visited both the Boerne and Helotes locations. Never had any issues with the one in Boerne. Our last two visited to Helotes have not been so great. Potatoes were extremely hard and the carne guisada was dry & tasted like it had been roasting all night. I still recommend them though. read more

Super soft tortillas. Fresh and flavorful inside. They got an assembly crew workin like Santa's Mexican Elves Busy spot but quick like chick-fil-a. Our food was ready in 4 minutes. Found this place on accident. First Watch was an hour wait. On avg we spend about $45-60 on breakfast. Our grand total was $16.72 for three ppl. read more

What can say but my opinion this is the best Mexican restaurant for breakfast. Only been for breakfast restaurant closes at 1:30pm. Restaurant is clean and tortillas are soo good and made where your able to see them. This is a must try, but go early because the line does get long you won't be disappointed. read more

Taco was good, fajita plate was ok.. THe food could've tasted better if it wasn't for the rude customer service. They made me feel like I was trying to cheat them by asking them for an extra tortilla for my $15 plate. Then the lady tries to charge me 1.50 for a tortilla. Its not about the cost but the approach and the lack of good customer service. First and last time I spend my dollars at this location.. Too many other places that make you feel welcomed and appreciated when visiting and dining. Not this place!! too bad the taco was actually pretty good! read more

Changed things up and went to Mary's for lunch instead of breakfast. It was good but not outstanding. I had a chili relleno and my husband had cheese enchiladas. The chili batter was a little too greasy and heavy for me. The beans are ok and the rice was great. My husband took my rice home to eat later. The enchiladas were ok as long as they were hot but got tough as they cooled. My Granddaughter's breakfast taco was as good as ever. Our take away is an ok place for lunch but better for breakfast. Want to go back and give lunch a second chance. read more

Mary's was a bit disappointing, we expected to be served and not cafeteria style service. This place is set up for take out or quick in and out tacos. The tacos were huge and utensils are not available. Sorry I'm used to fresh made food and not kept in a serving tray sitting in hot water. Mary's Tacos/MamaMargies equal. read more

BEST. TACOS. My Grandparents and I recently visited the newly opened Mary's Tacos in Helotes, and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of their tacos! You can actually see in the kitchen the tortillas being handmade to perfection. For the price and size of these tacos, you'll most certainly be satisfied. I also tried the chilaquile plate with refried beans and potatoes, very delicious! My only "con" is they didn't have sweet tea, but it's really not a big deal. We were very impressed with this place and are recommending our family and friends to come out and try their food! read more

Ok..you say ..well it a taco house. You would be so wrong. This little slice of hill country heaven is so much more! Come in hungry..as the tacos are big. The tortillas, omg..lite..fluffy..and made on site. They have the standard flavor tacos, as well as house specials. WELL worth getting up..and dining in..in this clean and hidden gem! read more

I ordered online on the 4th of July not knowing they were closed and nothing was stated while ordering. So my order went through but wouldn't be ready until the 5th and there is no way to cancel the order. I called first thing in the morning and kept getting a busy signal, once I got through the lady on the phone told me she couldn't do anything about it, claiming she doesn't know how that works. She was also rude for no reason. I mean just horrible customer service from a place I eat at regularly. I want my money back because your website never said anything about being closed! read more

So far I have only had good experiences since my first visit. Usually stop by to pick up breakfast tacos. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because it is still dark when I stop by and the parking area is very poorly lit. The entry driveway is hard to see as is the curving in the parking lot. Also had a person in dark clothing I came close to hitting if another vehicle hadn't shined lights on him. Need to put up one big spotlight to light up the parking area and I'll make it 5 stars. read more

So glad this place made its way to SA! I've been eating at their kerrville location for years when visiting family. There was a slight mixup with my order but the owner whom I recognized from kerrville quickly came over handled it and I had my tacos shortly after and was on my way. Extremely clean and friendly! I will continue to pass 15 other spots to get tacos from Marys! read more

The Dasher politely checked in with who she had an order for, then politely asked to use the restroom while she waited for the order to be ready. The employee shouted, "No, the restroom is for paying customers only!" The woman Dasher felt so degraded and belittled. So this woman can deliver this restaurant's food for them while so they can make even more money, but they won't even allow her to use their restroom? I felt so bad for the woman and how she was treated by the employees of this establishment that I simply walked out without ordering and I will never return.

It's definitely a fork & knife item which is unfortunate for a "pocket" that's to be eaten with your hands. Secondly the beef Gordita was off. I don't know if it was the beef or if the seasonings were off but it definitely wasn't good. The Chicken Gordita was just okay but after such a letdown my wife only took 3 bites & gave up. Oh and I didn't get a photo of them but the tortillas we were served were cooked on a dirty grill. You could tell by their coloring. What a shame, our first visit was so amazing! There wasn't a bad item on the plate. So wild to me that they've gone down hill so tremendously. Best thing we had were the iced tea, lemonade & refried beans. What a joke. Don't recommend, especially if you're of the culture, you'll be very disappointed. (My wife was for sure).

To be fair, it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy, although there were a few empty tables while we waited. One thing they absolutely got right was the remodel. The old space used to feel dark and cramped, but the updated interior feels much more open, modern, and inviting. Our waitress was also excellent throughout the meal--attentive, kind, and clearly doing her best to keep up with a packed dining room. Unfortunately, that's where most of the positives ended for us. The chips were thicker than usual but still good, and while the salsa had decent flavor, it had almost no heat at all. We also ordered guacamole without onions, but it came across very bland and could've used more lime, seasoning, and some jalapeño to brighten it up. My wife did enjoy her strawberry margarita, which was both flavorful and noticeably strong. I ordered the mole enchiladas and found the mole sauce surprisingly flat and lacking depth. Other dishes around the table were described as just okay overall, although the kids were very happy with the thick, fluffy pancakes. The biggest issue was timing. We didn't receive our entrees until almost 3:00 PM, which made for a very long wait, especially with kids at the table. To the restaurant's credit, they brought out two slices of cake to apologize even though we never complained. Overall, we left pretty underwhelmed, especially considering the occasion. The excellent table-side service couldn't fully make up for the slow kitchen and uneven food quality. Everything about this place is great. The place was clean and smells good. The staff and owner are very nice. Our tacos were awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had other menu items other than tacos and that was fantastic as well. Great atmosphere with really nice people. Mary's Tacos is top-tier! Everything about this place is fantastic--the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The tacos are packed with flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and always hit the spot.
