Papas rancheros was just okay, not too spicy even though it had plenty of chilies in it but still not that flavorful. Have improved in their flour tortillas so that is a plus in the right direction. Barbacoa taco was tasty but excessively greasy. But it took the 40 !!!! Minutes to serve 2 cars in front in me before they got my order and then had to wait another 10 at the window! Best breakfast tacos in San Antonio. The prices are absolutely amazing. Good service. The tacos are always fat and getting food is really quick. The only problem you'll have is majority of the construction workers eat here and the food may take a while during peak lunch hours. This place is a classic for my family. My dad is a regular who goes religiously, so of course that's our go to place right after church. I got a pancake plate, scrambled eggs and ham on the side. My boyfriend got a coffee and three taco plate. Our review goes like this. Me: pancakes are fluffy, sweet and filling! I created a taco with my eggs and ham with their fresh homemade tortillas. You can just tell those tortillas are made homemade! Pricing was good our meal together was $20 Him: loved the coffee, it didn't make him jittery like other coffees do and his tacos were decently big! This place was a little hidden gem! We went on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm and there was literally no one there. I don't know why, it was so quick and delicious! We have been coming or picking up from here for the last two years. We always ordered breakfast. Menudo very good and clean. Breakfast tacos good but today we went for lunch. Big mistake 1st we walk in and waitresses standing around hardly anyone in there. Told us to sit anywhere ( still no service) A gentleman comes in needed sitting for a large party and they all rush to get tables. Music was soo loud. Tables not cleaned. Again not busy yet. I'm looking at them annoyed so I finally get someone to get drink order but they all want the big party( bigger tips). I ordered cheese enchiladas, my husband ordered Mexican plate, granddaughter ordered taco. Well it was not good at all. Everything taste the same the rice and enchiladas were made with to much sazon. My husband eats everything and he couldn't finish it. My granddaughter didn't eat hers said tortillas was tough. Beans were good. Tortillas tasted old and reheated. I felt like they looked recycled. I would hope not. We didn't send back or complain I was told my a few waitress never to send back food because you never know what you might get back so just ask to remove it from bill and don't eat. We did neither. Service was disappointing. Our waitress never checked on us again. No refills. No do you need anything. Then it was after mass so big parties started getting there after we ordered and they would rush to help them. Again wanting tips. It's not real expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, but in saying that I did not like paying $35 for food we didn't eat. I hope they do better. This was the worst! They were overpriced and the food was cold and HORRIBLE! We couldn't wait to get out! The fact that two employees children were at a table, screaming and threw blocks. I heard El Rodeo Mexican Grill in Helotes was serving up good TexMex so I gave it a shot. The menu has a very large selection. I had plenty to choose from. It was lunch time and we were able to walk right in and be seated. Our order was taken right away and we had drinks on the table within minutes of arriving. The food came out fast as well and it was delicious. Large portions, seasoned well, and comes with all the fixings. Salsa and chips included at no charge. Both red and green salsa on the table. I was very satisfied with my meal. I had the Mexican plate that includes 2 cheese enchiladas, a beef taco, salad, beans and rice and flour tortillas. The enchilada sauce was flavorful with a hint of spicy just as I like it. Another big plus was the prices. My meal came in at 9.99. A great deal!!! The only reason I did not give a five was the cashier the checked me out was not very friendly. I think she was multitasking but I felt she was a bit rushing me and did not smile. When I started going to this restaurant about three years ago, I was so happy to find it. The food was great. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get someone who is really attentive and sometimes you get someone that doesn't appear you need service after you get your plate. I have tried to overlook it and think I to myself maybe they are having a bad day. The past couple of times I have been thru the drive thru the girl who works the window is rude. She yells if you can't hear what she said and acts like you are bothering her. Today was the last straw. Went thru the drive thru again thinking it will be different but it was NOT. She was extremely rude, took forever to get my food, gives me my food and slams the window on me!! I get home and open my container and the tacos are soggy! They were supposed to be crispy!! I hadn't eaten all day and was hoping to have a good meal, I was sadly mistaken. I don't know if she is the owner or not but she is quite often there. What she doesn't realize is service like that can kill your business and so does word of mouth. I don't believe in being vindictive but do believe in honesty and what I am serving you is the truth. I've been here several times with my friend since it's close by the house and they never cease to be amazing! There are several Mexican restaurants nearby with decent tacos but they tend to mess orders up- so far El Rodeo never does they have the best salsas , their barbacoa is BOMB, their tacos are always OVER stuffed they're not skimpy at all- more bang for your buck I cant recommend this place enough. The food was really. Our party had carne guisado plate, #10 Texas? plate and Alahambras tacos. Everyone was pleased. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the refried beans. The salsa could be spicer but we are near helotes so I think they are trying to accommodate the clientele. Me and my husband went here for the first time yesterday. We will be going back. The service and food was great. He had the mini tacos with asada. I had the San Antonio plate which came with 2 cheese enchiladas, puffy taco, rice and beans. I was not a fan of the corn tortillas, I feel they should have been on the grill a little longer, they were kinda doughy. I have had better puffy tacos but these were ok. This was my first time visiting this new restaurant in Helotes. First impressions are always a sign of what might be. I was waited on right away and the waitress was very friendly. She had a menu ready and took my drink order. The coffee was of good flavor and hot. When she brought the coffee she also had 2 sauces as well as napkins and silverware. To me this is a real plus. So many places are slow to bring the utensils. She took my order and shortly thereafter my order was served, nice & hot. Coffee was refilled and she made sure I was happy with my order. Why only 4 stars? Like I said this was my first time here but I'm sure it won't be my last. So if this type of service continues I will be updating to 5 *****. read more

Been here for over a decade. Saw Tejas Barbocoa go out of business and turn into this ah!t hole. I've been here on 3 separate occasions throughout the last year or so always hoping for it to be different, giving them the benefit of the doubt. My food has been wrong on all 3 visits, and every single time I go back to get it corrected and met by straight attitude for, I guess having the audacity to think that my order should be fixed?
