Okay, I fully admit to having unusual tastes. My second favorite food out of all the offerings of the world is tripas. I have loved them ever since I tried them at the local BBQ in Waelder, Texas. Since then I have eaten them whenever I see them on a menu. But, sometimes, I get a craving for them. Today was one of those days. I went on the DoorDash app and did a search on the word tripas. It came up with a plethora of Mexican restaurants in my area. I scrolled through them until I saw the picture for the Super Tripas Plate at Taco 16th Street Northwest. They looked really good, so I decided to take a chance and order them. Thirty minutes later, they were at my door. I was amazed by what I saw when I took the foil off the plate. There was a large pile of tripas topped in a white cheese, an equally large pile of caramelized grilled onions, a small pot of refried beans, a scoop of guacamole, 5 street-sized corn tortillas, and two different containers of salsa. I put a little bit of everything on the tortillas. Everything was delicious. I especially liked the flavors of the two salsas. It was the perfect tripas dinner. This is a great casual spot, clean, and quick service even when it's crowded. I come here regularly for their $1 Al Pastor taco special on Tues/Thursdays and have yet to try other things on the menu. You order, are given a number, seat yourself, and your food is brought to you. I've also done takeout and they're just as quick at wrapping it up for you. There's a self-serve station with their salsas, cilantro, cabbage, limes, etc. which they keep clean and refill it quickly when some things are running low. They don't have water cups, only bottled water for purchase if you're not a soda/fountain drink person, so keep that in mind. The tacos taste amazing and are a great deal! read more

Yesterday my boyfriend and I tried Taco 16th Street for the first time after seeing it on TikTok. We ordered two tortas, one al pastor and one bistec, both served with baked potatoes and all the fixings. The restaurant also had a toppings bar stocked with salsa, cilantro, onions, and jalapeños. We decided to try a cup of fideo, but unfortunately it tasted like it had been sitting out too long and had a burnt flavor. Even adding lime didn't help, though it might be better earlier in the day. For drinks, we had horchata and agua de melón. The horchata missed the mark, but the agua de melón was refreshing and hit the spot. My review is based solely on the tacos because I haven't tried anything else from their expansive menu. On a Tuesday, my wife told me she wanted tacos for dinner and randomly sent me a TikTok showing this location, so I figured she wanted to try this place. Since they have an awesome deal of $1 tacos on Tuesday and Thursday, I thought, why not? The location can be deceiving as it is quite spacious inside. There are multiple places to sit, a condiment bar for your tacos, and, of course, sodas and other drinks (horchata, lemonade, and something else). The tacos were not too bad. They were actually flavorful but came with a single tortilla instead of the typical double tortilla. But for $1, it's great. I decided to get 5 tacos for me, 5 for my wife, and 5 for my lunch the following day. I really like how you can get the onions, cilantro, lemon, and salsas yourself. Sometimes, places put way too much or too little, but here you can put the perfect amount to your liking. Just a side note: the deal is only for tacos de al pastor, so keep that in mind. Overall, great tacos at a great price. I definitely recommend trying them out--it'll only cost you a few bucks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The staff was nice and helpful. OfCOURSE I recommend Taco 16th Street. What a delicious place to eat! It's spacious and welcoming and seems like it would be great for larger parties and bigger dinners with the whole family. The menu is similar to what taco enthusiasts have come to know and love with the added bonus of a condiment bar in the middle of the dining area to get all the sauces and dressing your heart desires. Found this place on accident. Me and a friend were just trying to cut through the parking lot when the window sign caught our eye. So glad we parked and came in. The staff were amazing and the inside is cute and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. I got the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was juicy and they did not skimp on the chicken. There are about 4-5 different meats you can have with your tacos. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly, efficient, and helpful. The food came out quickly and there's a salsa bar for toppings. I loved this because I don't like a lot on my tacos. The space is large with a lot of places to sit. I guess i should have read the reviews. Saw this place on TikTok so it had to be good right? WRONG. You can tell this place has no vibe. The cashier was nice and gave her recommendations. The alambre just lacked authenticity. The street tacos Al Pastor were so dry. Fideo came when we were all done eating and it was so hot we couldn't even eat it. As for the supreme burger the only good thing on that plate was the bake potato. I'd give the potato 5 stars. The agua frescas are not made from scratch and you can taste the gritty powder. I found this place on an IG post and just had to give it a try! As a native California I have searched far and wide for authentic street tacos. Everywhere is Tex-Mex and I have had no luck UNTIL NOW! I ordered 6 bistec tacos and was given a free alambre taco for Being a new customer. Now the Bristec was good but the Alambre was amazing !! It's like a cheesesteak taco!
