    $1 Al Pastor tacos Tues/Thursdays
    Marie P.

This is a great casual spot, clean, and quick service even when it's crowded. I come here regularly for their $1 Al Pastor taco special on Tues/Thursdays and have yet to try other things on the menu. You order, are given a number, seat yourself, and your food is brought to you. I've also done takeout and they're just as quick at wrapping it up for you. There's a self-serve station with their salsas, cilantro, cabbage, limes, etc. which they keep clean and refill it quickly when some things are running low. They don't have water cups, only bottled water for purchase if you're not a soda/fountain drink person, so keep that in mind. The tacos taste amazing and are a great deal!

Recommend: Yes. Food: we ordered a TON of food! We had the quesadilla with Al Pastor, baked potato w/cheese, mini tacos with the chicken and with carne de bistec and agua fresca de Melón. Not too many ways you can mess up a baked potato. It was hot and the cheese melted nicely. The quesadilla with carne Al Pastor was delicious . The cheese to meat ration was perfect and the meat was flavorful. The minor tacos were good as well. Meat to tortilla ratio was perfect. I enjoyed the carne de bistec over the chicken . Both meats were seasoned well. There is a salsa bar with all the "fixing's" and I really enjoyed that the aguas frescas had free refills. Their agua de melón was my favorite. Very refreshing and perfect amount of sweetness. Service: You order at the counter and waitress brings food to table. Waitress was friendly and answered all my questions. Ambiance: Lots of seating, a few photo ops, music playing in the background.

I randomly discovered this place on Instagram. The one dollar tacos intrigued me to get up and go try. And boy am I glad I did! You can't beat one dollar tacos every Tuesday and Thursday, I've been here twice in the last month and they will see my face again lol. Food comes quick and fresh. Clean establishment. Friendly service. Plenty parking.

My absolute favorite part about this place was the watermelon Fresca, super fresh and delicious. The tacos were good. They weren't the best that I've ever had but they were really good and you could tell that the quality was good. I would just say I've had better tacos. I would still come back to this place.

I went on a Thursday for their $1 al pastor deal. Their cantaloupe aqua fresca was refreshing. We had to wait about an hour for six tacos which was frankly ridiculous if we did it because we were able to get a table and catch up with friends.

Went for $1 taco Thursday, but couldn't resist getting a papa. It was very, very good. I did get one al pastor taco and it was delicious with the red salsa, onions, and lime. I'd come back and get more tacos next time! One thing I did not like is the smell of whatever cleaning solution they use for the tables and floors. It was strong. Not a huge deal, just something I noticed.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I tried Taco 16th Street for the first time after seeing it on TikTok. We ordered two tortas, one al pastor and one bistec, both served with baked potatoes and all the fixings. The restaurant also had a toppings bar stocked with salsa, cilantro, onions, and jalapeños. We decided to try a cup of fideo, but unfortunately it tasted like it had been sitting out too long and had a burnt flavor. Even adding lime didn't help, though it might be better earlier in the day. The tortas, however, were excellent. I wasn't a fan of the bistec, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. The al pastor was delicious and packed with flavor. For drinks, we had horchata and agua de melón. The horchata missed the mark, but the agua de melón was refreshing and hit the spot. Overall, we'd definitely go back to try other plates on the menu.

OfCOURSE I recommend Taco 16th Street. What a delicious place to eat! It's spacious and welcoming and seems like it would be great for larger parties and bigger dinners with the whole family. The menu is similar to what taco enthusiasts have come to know and love with the added bonus of a condiment bar in the middle of the dining area to get all the sauces and dressing your heart desires. I was a fan of the spicier poblano pepper and chile sauces myself. I ordered the quesadilla with double steak portion which hit the spot perfectly and drank a jarritos, as one does in times of such excellent food.

Everything on their menu is excellent! I'm a huge fan of their Mexican Style Hot Dogs and you haven't lived until you try their delicious Alambre Style Hot Dog. They also have $1.00 Al Pastor Taquitos every Tuesday & Thursday and thats definitely a deal in these times. The location is huge and there is plenty of room for parties and get togethers! Highly recommend San Antonio!

Found this place on accident. Me and a friend were just trying to cut through the parking lot when the window sign caught our eye. So glad we parked and came in. The staff were amazing and the inside is cute and comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. I got the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was juicy and they did not skimp on the chicken. My friend got the baked potato with al pastor and when I say that was a huge potato it was a huge potato. The meat was well seasoned and juicy. Had the perfect amount of cheese and butter. We will def be returning. They have a $1 tacos on Tuesday and Thursday as well.

Everything was pretty good. Meat well done, well seasoned. Also, the pineapples should be on the side. Too much cheese on the baked potato. Maybe you should add cheese then some on the side to be added if needed. No kid menu, which sucked. Cause my 6 year old doesn't eat like a grown up. Service was great. Cashier was sweet and patient. She served us as well and was nice. The vibe was great. Very nice place, lots of space. I like how they cater.

It's difficult to find a good taco spot in San Antonio especially if you're looking for a good tasting carne asada style taco. The waitress/manager/owner was kind enough to let my family try all the meats before we purchased I thought that was amazing customer experience. I will be returning

GAME CHANGER! When…read moreI visit San Antonio Plantaqueria is an absolute must. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!
