    Chameleon Roll

We went in for Friday dinner and the restaurant was busy but quiet. There was low light throughout and made for a serene atmosphere. The menu options are extensive and varied that makes it hard to narrow down the options. Unfortunately, the dim lighting and the font/color of the menu made it somewhat difficult to read the ingredients on each menu selection. We ordered 4 rolls to share between 2 people. The rolls were large but unfortunately were primarily rice instead of actual sushi meat selection. Flavor was great and unique to each roll. Unfortunately, the disproportionate rice to meat ratio was too obvious. When the rolls are brought out, there is no wasabi paste or ginger brought out but our server immediately asked if we would like some. Lastly, service. Service was great. Out waiter was attentive throughout the entire meal and made sure we were completely satisfied with our dining experience.

The food here was great loved the sushi and sashimi their chicken fried rice was awesome. Like the noddles with chicken also loved the shrimp fried rice and their shrimp tempura and the fried calamari and the dessert everything was good can't complain pretty good price too. The service was good the waiter kept coming around to check if we wanted anything from menú she didn't rush at all which love that she was friendly and good attitude the service was great. The ambiance was ok little to loud for us I love the decorations and why whole restaurant was decorated love the low lights lambs one thing maybe it could be little more organize in front with hosted people other then that I had great time and will be coming back when come visit houston again It was our first time coming and we loved it.

Masa Sushi has been my favorite sushi restaurant for 10 years. Their service and quality has always been consistent and our family oves it. Our favorites are the NASA Roll One, John Wayne and Honolulu, baby octopus and seaweed salad, for the win! Come check them out! Vahid was amazing! Great service as always.

    BUG IN FOOD

IM DISGUSTED!! A BUG IN MY FOOD!!!! Tonight was my first time trying this restaurant, I ordered takeout. Upon looking at the menu, it sounded really good. But I'm HIGHLY disappointed. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Hibachi with fried rice. It came with soup & salad. I was eating the teriyaki chicken & the fried rice, & was almost done with it. When I scooped one of my final bites right as I was about to put it in my mouth I realized there was a BUG on my fork!!!! A DEAD BUG!!!! I'm not sure what kind of bug it is, looks like some type of beetle or something. But I'm DISGUSTED!! I can't believe I ate nearly the whole plate with a bug in my rice!!!! I had to run to the bathroom because I immediately started vomiting all of my food up!! I'm so disgusted & still sick to my stomach as I'm writing this. I've never in my Life had a bug in my food before !! I will never be ordering here again!!

Man this place is overpriced for the quality. Walking right in, the layout is a bit confusing. There's a lot of space wasted, and a lot of areas where a bunch of seats are crammed together. The service was rather rude. I was pulling off some of the rice as it was low quality on my roll, and the server comes by to say that 'if I didn't want rice I could have just asked for sushi with less rice.' Seemed to be subtly griping at me. The rice is obviously just plain rice, not soaked in sake or tended to at all to make it actually sushi rice quality.

So I really wanted to love this experience, but unfortunately it fell short in my collection of…read moreHibachi experiences. Let's start with the positives, the restaurant itself and ambiance was nice, clean, inviting...lots of staff! Loved that they had a happy hour on a weekend day, we ordered sushi, sake, and crab puff rolls off the happy hour menu and they were all good. I feel like we would come back at some point and just do happy hour. Lots of good choices on the menu. Soup was very good, loved the soup. Salad was good, very tasty dressing. Soup and salad came with hibachi. Our waiter seemed very rushed, nervous, somewhat annoyed. This was our first time here, and first time looking at the menu. It seemed odd that he took our menus after we ordered a few things off the happy hour menu, if he would have left the menus we would have probably ordered more off the menu. We still had over an hour before happy hour was over. Drinks were okay, I ordered iced tea partner ordered sake. It was supposed to be cold, but seemed more lukewarm temp. Now for the Hibachi, I'm going to be honest it seemed like the guy was struggling. There was barely any interaction throughout the whole experience, and as you know that's what Hibachi is all about. I ordered the steak and shrimp, partner ordered the scallops. Everything was cooked with tons of oil, the shrimp and scallops were drenched in oil and there were some pieces that weren't cooked all the way through. Veggies were barely thrown on and taken right off, they were hard and lacked flavor. The whole point of grilled veggies is the slight char, and taste of the grill. He did remake the scallops but we didn't ask him to remake the shrimp or veggies for the chicken fried rice because at the point the medium steak was turning into very well done. The rice was okay, again seemed very rushed...veggies were barely cooked before chopped and grilled with rice. The service seemed very sloppy, rice veggies flung outside of grill, beside some of the customers plates...cleaning the grill to where we shielded our clothes a few times...he seemed very confused with the orders/waiters notes and seemed like he just wanted to be done. He spoke maybe 3 times the whole experience. I'd like to think that we just got a newer cook, the food itself may have been better maybe if we had a different cook experience. I've done several Hibachi experiences and this one was very lackluster, the table as a whole seemed very underwhelmed. The manager stopped by to discuss the scallops, gave feedback regarding the tons of oil, etc. He gave a military discount I believe about $6. Overall I think for a $100+ dining experience I definitely expect more in terms of experience and treatment of the food. Not sure if we'd return, the guy dining next to us suggested Shogun his issue was that the portion sizes were too small. We might do a stop in happy hour quick bite at some point, but not for Hibachi I don't think. There are so many other options to try.

Food: 4.6/5 Service: 4/5…read moreAmbiance: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5 Even after being to (almost) all of the big AYCE sushi places in this area, Ohayo Sushi is probably still my favorite. Overall, it maintains the best quality from dish to dish and rarely fails to disappoint quality wise (obviously it won't be like a la carte quality, but it is lowkey close). I think their weakest aspect in restaurant quality is actually the service. I do like the use of the iPads to order, but sometimes there are just times where we won't get entire rounds of food until like 30 minutes later. Another issue I have is their soy sauce bottles, which have like a 50% chance to be sticky whenever you pick them up. Lastly, and this is with all the AYCEs, their fish is either a hit or miss on that particular day (personally, I like ordering just a few of each to try for fish quality before ordering like 30 the second round). Enough of the negatives, this is still really great. I love their steak hibachi, which is usually perfectly cooked and tender, offsetting the flavor of sushi after a few rounds. The salmon and fish roe are so addicting and I like enjoying them with the squid, seaweed, and crab salads. The soups are all pretty good and none of them have an off-putting flavor. All of their specialty rolls are so plump and filled. Another thing I like about this place is the ratios of ingredients in their specialty rolls. Other than the fried rolls, I feel as though there's always the perfect amount of rice and wrapper compared to the other ingredients, which is often hard to find in AYCE. This place just has their flavors down really well and is definitely the most well balanced and flushed out AYCE in this area.

We were initially told the wait would be about 20 minutes, but it ended up being closer to an hour. Once we were finally seated, ordering through the iPad was simple and convenient. The sashimi and hibachi dishes arrived quickly, while the specialty rolls and fried items took considerably longer because of how busy the restaurant was. To get the most value out of an all-you-can-eat experience, I usually focus on ordering sashimi. My favorites were the salmon, yellowtail, and eel, all of which were fresh and enjoyable. The spicy scallop sushi was the standout of the entire meal and easily my favorite bite of the night. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and that was the one I kept going back to. The steak hibachi was solid, with well-seasoned meat and generous portions. The fried oysters and crab rangoons were both crispy and cooked well without feeling overly greasy. The specialty rolls were good too. While none of them particularly stood out, they were all enjoyable and well made. Overall, there was not a single dish that I disliked. Even with the much longer-than-expected wait, the quality and variety of the food made for a satisfying all-you-can-eat experience. If you plan on visiting during peak dinner hours, I would recommend expecting a wait, but once you're seated, there are plenty of options to make the meal worthwhile.

We started with the Salmon Crudo and Scallop Crudo, and both were outstanding. The Salmon Crudo was my absolute favorite. The garlic aioli with the fresh salmon was phenomenal, and the hint of lemon zest tied everything together perfectly. It was one of those dishes where every bite makes you pause because it's just that good. The Scallop Crudo was equally delicious. The tamarind ponzu sauce was incredible--bright, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sweetness of the scallops. We also ordered the Salmon, Fatty Tuna, Scallop, Tuna, and Lobster hand rolls. Everything tasted exceptionally fresh, but the Lobster Roll stole the show. I couldn't resist dipping it into both the scallop crudo sauce and the garlic aioli from the salmon crudo, and wow... those combinations were absolutely incredible. I may have accidentally created my own perfect bite! What impressed us most was how fresh every piece of fish tasted. Nothing was overly complicated or covered up with heavy sauces. Every ingredient had a purpose, and the quality really spoke for itself. If you're looking for incredibly fresh sushi with creative flavors that enhance--not overpower--the seafood, Koyo is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Texas.
