Standard size local place with a mini bar and sit down tables that has a menue that will make you dizzy. After looking at what is known as a "fusion sushi" menue for more that 10 min I gave up and ordered the standard sashimi & sushi lunch combo and a hand roll. I couldn't break my norm because of the eye strain I had reading what had to be at least 120 different types of sushi/sashimi items. I was seated right away in the small, intimate dining room, so it's not like I was hard to miss--I was literally in the center. My husband and I just visited Ocean Sushi Grill, we went to have a late dinner, around 9. The place is small and inviting. The staff is very efficient, and they sure know what to recommend. We started with Uni sashimi ($12 a bite) was very fresh, just melts in your mouth, so good. Then we ordered a skin salmon "salad", this is baked salmon skin, could be crunchier but I liked it a lot, the flavor of the skin by itself is really good, comes with a sriracha dressing and some lettuce. We also tried the Shrimp ShuMai, the sweetness of the shrimp is everything in these little bites. Then we had a number 55 roll, this had salmon, scallops, cucumber and truffle oil which gives it an earthy flavor you can really taste, I think this was my favorite so far, flavors and textures, so good. Then we had a tuna and toro roll, the toro was so fresh almost sweet, delicious. I really liked the whole experience, it's definitely a place I recommend, they have a lot of types of seafood, fish and they really know their seafood, no wonder the name. Very satisfied. read more

We both order 3 of their speciality rolls. The Cowboy, Crazy Roll, and The Marina Bay. My favorite was The Cowboy roll. It had a thin slice of filet mignon on top and the sauce that was paired with it was delicious. We stopped by on a Sunday night and it was pretty packed but the staff were all on top of things, and making sure every customer was enjoying their meals. We had Crab Puffs, a Spicy Tuna roll, Rainbow Roll and a Philadelphia Roll. The crab puffs may have been the best Crab Rangoon I've ever eaten. All the rolls were very tasty, and we'll done. The specialty rolls here are unlike anywhere I've been before. They are one of a kind and absolutely delicious. The quality of the fish was so FRESH, which only added to the enjoyable flavors of the sushi. I highly recommend if you're a lover of raw fish and new combinations. There's is a large variety to choose from. The only complaint I have is that service is a little slow. I came around 4pm on a Monday, ordered an appetizer and 3 rolls. This place is so packed for a Monday night. The first two times I came here I was some kind of sick and I couldn't really judge it or actually taste the food properly. I decided to come back with my sister and try again. We ordered the spicy salmon tartare, the crazy roll and the sushi sashimi combo. The spicy salmon tartare was good but the chip was sort of stale. It was drowning in spicy mayo and I couldn't finish it. (3/5) The crazy roll my sister ordered was delicious until you reached the 3rd to 4th roll. The cream cheese started to feel too heavy and my sister wasn't sure if she liked it or not lol. She's 11 so she's pretty indecisive. The sushi and sashimi combo I had was good. The sashimi and sushi pieces were fresh but the cut were too generous. The taste was too overwhelming but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. (4/5) I honestly liked my experience there. Decided to try this placing after seeing all the reviews. I am a bit disappointed. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo; comes with 5 pieces of sushi, 8 pieces of sashimi, and an ocean roll! The sushi and sashimi were as expected however the roll was small! We also ordered a shaggy dog roll and it was the same size so I think this is just the sizes that the rolls come in. I can think of several other sushi places that have bigger rolls at a better price. The service was average. We ordered hot tea and had to ask for sugar and then 5 mins later, a spoon. Seems like items that should already come with the order. Other than that it was pretty smooth service. The best part of the meal were the crab cakes! The sweet and spicy sauce that came with it was yummy. Don't forget to end your meal with some Mochi! read more

I have had this place bookmarked for some time. We came in on a Friday night. Ironically, we came here because I wanted sushi and she wanted Asian food but did not want sushi. After perusing the menu and all of their specialty rolls, I decided on the Lover Roll. She decided on the Red Curry Chicken. First, the sushi. It was fresh and had a good taste. The roll I chose is uncooked but the pieces of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail were prepared to perfection. Also, it was wrapped in soy paper which I like but the wife prefers. I only ordered one roll to begin with because I have the tendency to eat sushi way to fast. If I order one at a time, I eat slower and have the tendency to enjoy it more. Plus, their sushi seemed to be a little on the pricey side. Many of their specialty rolls range from $14-$17 per roll. I did like the sushi and I was about to order my second roll when I tasted my wife's Red Curry Chicken. The rest, as they say, is history... The Red Curry Chicken was phenomenal. The amount of curry was perfect. It was just enough to make the dish spicy and let you know that it was there. It was not so hot that I couldn't eat it. It had the perfect blend of spice and sweetness from the coconut milk. It comes with white rice (in a separate bowl). I highly recommend that you keep rice separate and only add enough that you are going to eat. I added the rice as I went and I think it kept the flavor from changing too much. The chicken was wonderful; so wonderful that I placed an order for myself. After eating the above mentioned sushi roll, I knew I would not be able to finish it. I took the rest home and devoured it the next day at lunch. Oh, it also comes with your choice of soup. I had the miso soup. So if the sushi was good and the chicken was phenomenal, then why did I only have them four stars? Well, it comes down to the waitstaff. Ocean Sushi is a small establishment and they were busy, very busy. One of the waiters was an absolute drama queen. I mean he was in a sheer panic that there were three separate parties waiting at the door. Then, he ended up being our server. Every little mistake he made (which really were not that big of a deal) were blown out of proportion by his reaction. This dude seriously needed to relax. The funny thing is that he did a good job and was attentive. It was simply his general reaction to stress. Take a chill pill, man. Bottom line: Pretty good sushi but a little pricey. Excellent Red Curry Chicken (my new favorite). A good waitstaff with a touch of too much drama (at least the one guy). Worth the visit. Bon appétit. read more

Came here with a friend and her daughter. There was no introduction from our waiter. We waited awhile, it was Sunday but not too busy. Ordered some appetizers which they forgot. All of our food came but they forgot to put the daughters food in. Which never came until we were ready for the check. We had a hungry five year old with us and she had nothing to eat. We're currently in line at McDonald's to get her something. There was also a kids meal listed but we were advised that it doesn't exist. Because this is about as unique as sushi gets. --- --- --- And don't let my use of the term "unique" deceive you as just a nice way of saying that it was different - it was also delicious! I made the terrible mistake of not noting down the exact rolls that we ordered, but looking at their menu, I know we definitely ordered the Dinosaur, King Crab, Houston and the Cowboy... among others that I can't recall. To make matters worse, the only specific memory I have is that the Cowboy role was amazing. Purists may call it blasphemy, but filet meat on a sushi just works. I love sushi, and I love steak... why can't I combine the two? Surf and turf is usually a huge hit on any menu, so I think this should be more popular! As for the other rolls, there were a couple we didn't love, but mostly we were in heaven throughout this meal. We didn't make reservations, but there were a couple seats available at the bar. We oo'd and ahh'd at the different sushi being brought out from behind the bar to different patrons throughout our visit. Ocean Sushi maximizes this Instagram world that we live in, and puts tons of effort into plating. As you have probably seen from the photos, they even include glowing lights, and designs with the different sauces. Our sashimi plate was lit up green, and our sushi plate's eel sauce was in the form of a tree.
