After six hours on the road, my wife and I argued over what generic Brew Pub to go to. Then we came across Masala Box. It's almost a little bodega; beer case and lotto tickets. But the food was amazing! Everything was delicious, we had the Shrimp Vindaloo, Naan and Vegetable Samosa, and everything was fantastic. The best part was the couple running the restaurant. A hidden gem! Everything is hand made to your order so expect to wait if there are people who ordered before you. You really need to try it out if you love Indian food. There is a small table inside and a couple outside. Nothing fancy about the place but don't be fooled by first impressions when you get there. So this is a little neighborhood quickie mart but they do have a few tables - my guess is mostly take out. The owner was so friendly and helpful and the food is fantastic - don't let the simple storefront fool you it's really a great little place. We almost didn't go in but I'm glad we did it. read more

We found this small hole in the wall Indian restaurant with just six items on the menu totally by accident. Absolutely loved the food and the couple that runs it they are wonderful taste as delicious and truly experience. Cannot recommend it highly enough if you are in Clackamas area. Excellent samosas and homemade chutney. The food I've had here tastes as good as my Auntie back in India makes, and I think she is an excellent cook. :) Authentic, full of flavor and totally unexpected for Gladstone. Signage is a little hard to recognize when driving by, this is a mini-mart, there is not a lot of seating, parking may be tight but I believe you can park on the roadside. They sell beer, which tastes amazing with their samosas. Prices are excellent and the owners are absolutely wonderful people. If you love Indian food, you should really try this place. Amazing, fresh Indian Food of off a small menu and prepared by a very kind and gracious man. Unassuming location, but don't let that stop you from eating there. Masala Box! I found this gem while visiting the area from Southern California. I never expected to find such authentic and delicious meals from India in Oregon. The owners (husband and wife) are both charming and very welcoming. The husband is an excellent cook and his curries are spot on! I ordered a lot and enjoyed each dish: Chicken Aloo Salmon Vindaloo Samosas Naan Rice I highly recommend Masala Box! There is a small outside patio (two tables) and three indoor tables, as well as take-out. The large cooler is well-stocked with ice cold beer, wine, and sodas. Wonderfully prepared food from scratch from 100 year old recipes. We had the chicken masala and salmon vindalo with Nan and balsamati rice and loved it! Takes a little longer for lunch (25 minutes) but worth the wait for freshly made meals. Will definitely be coming back to try other items. Only three tables and not much parking. Not quite what I was expecting when I pulled into the parking lot, but was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality from the owners and the delicious food. I'm from Los Angeles and I'm really surprised how few Indian food places there are. This isn't the region of Indian food I am used to, but super tasty none the less. I ordered several dishes in the regular size and we had food for many many meals. All the dishes were delicious and made with love...you can tell!!!! read more

This is truly a hole in the wall place. It has 2 tables for eating there and there is absolutely no decor. However, the food is really good, so if you're in the neighborhood, definitely do take out. I wasn't happy with the food - siracha (the chili garlic paste kind) was the dominant flavor in my saag... Which was weird. The owners are super nice but I really don't understand the good reviews. I also tried their shrimp vindaloo which was bland and the chana masala which was the best of the three - but also bland. Avoid this place. What a find! Authentic curry from a wonderful couple. They were so nice accommodating our table of 4 outside their little place. We had the sag, chicken masala and adoo. Along with some naan. The food was so flavorful. Nicely simmered so the sauces blended very well together. The portions were generous so I had some leftovers for lunch the next day. A pleasant surprise was a good choice of bottled beer and 2 on tap. Wine was available too. What was equally great was the overall price from the meal to the beer. I saw the Masala Box in Yelp a few times, but was timid to stop by and try it because I'd never had Indian before and wasn't sure if I'd like it. Having my first experience here at Masala Box was delightful! The owners were two of the sweetest people I've met. One of the owners was very pleasant on the phone and again in person when I arrived to pick up my to go order. The other owner came right out when I arrived and hand packed my order up and asked me if I needed napkins and silverware. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area or are hesitant because the food was delicious and full of incredible flavor. read more

You would never guess the deliciousness that is created here just by looking at it. Not only is the food wonderful, but so is the couple that own it. They are friendly, helpful, and absolutely adorable. We ordered our food to-go and enjoyed our samosas while we waited. Those little pockets of goodness were so delicious (especially with the mint chutney that they brought out with them) that we ordered a couple more for the road. The chicken masala was wonderful and just the right amount of spicy and the saag had amazing flavor. We will definitely be back to try some more of their dishes. read more
