    Fresh Lime Soda

This was my fourth (maybe fifth) time dining at The Bombay Club, and I keep going back for a reason. As a solo diner this time, I had the chance to soak in the details and what a lovely experience it was. The ambience is quietly elegant, evoking that old-school Indian business club vibe - the kind we'd visit for lunches and dinners back in India but without feeling dated. It's vintage in the best way. The music, the soft lighting, the decor - it all adds to the charm. The food is good but not mind-blowing, which is why I'm docking a star, but definitely among the better Indian offerings in D.C. The crispy kale chaat was fantastic - light, crunchy, and full of flavor. The fresh lime soda was a bit of a letdown - it seemed like the sugar syrup or lime cordial had been sitting around too long. The vegetarian thali is consistently good, but I wish they'd rotate a few components or offer a "special of the day." At ~$30 (plus a 20% mandatory service charge), it would be great to see some richer or seasonal options for vegetarians. Service was warm, prompt, and professional -- as always.

Stefan was our server and he was excellent. He made very good suggestions and we loved all of the choices. The ambiance is elegant and the live piano was an excellent touch.

I cannot remember the name but it was deliciously refreshing.

Hubby and I ate here for Valentine's and the food was wonderfully delicious. Everyone was so attentive; Lucas, our server was fabulous, explaining every course and dish in detail. We began with an Amuse Bouche of a luscious Almond Rose Shorba. The starter was Asparagus Bhajiya (Fritter), Masala Prune, and Puff Pastry or yogurt, avocado, mint, mango & pineapple chutney. That trio was a delectable profile of flavors.

Food, service and ambiance here was truly impeccable! One of the best Indian restaurants in the dmv area for sure - scallops were the best I've ever had

Had an unforgettable business dinner at The Bombay Club - easily one of the best Indian dining experiences I've had in the U.S. (and I say that as someone from India!). Our group of 32 was well accommodated across four tables, and the pre-fixe menu was thoughtfully curated and delicious from start to finish. The cocktails were a standout, especially the Madras Express (spicy and bold) and Jaipur Sunrise (refreshing and vibrant). We started with classic appetizers like samosas, chaats, and kebabs, all bursting with flavor. The main course curries were spot-on--authentic, rich, and perfectly spiced. Dessert was a sampler plate featuring gulab jamun, kheer, and gajar ka halwa. Everything was great, but the kheer in particular stood out - creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. Beautiful ambiance, warm service, and truly excellent food. Can't wait to return with my family on my next visit to DC.

When an establishment is open since 1988, things that could be said about it have likely already been stated, repeated, written about and then cemented into the hall of fame of the restaurant business. The Bombay Club, located a block away from the White House, is a place where white tablecloths reign, where major decisions happen and where one might just find themselves very lucky to be dining. Obama, Clinton and Bush have all dined here. So have many celebrities over the years. Demi Moore, Bruce Willis and Michael Douglas just to name a few. The place is owned and ran by Ashok Bajaj, who also runs the famous Rasika and has a proven record of very successful restaurants. It is now equally an American meal to dine here as anything else could ever be. The tandoori salmon is served bursting in juices, unique flavor and a side of lemon. Lamb Rogan Josh is delicate to a level where it simply falls apart with a rich spinach curry that's going to soak up every bit of basmati and naan that comes its way. A side of lamb samosas is a pleasant add for those who may not have had enough lamb yet. To complement the perfectly executed entrees, there is a vast wine list that's priced at an extremely reasonable 2x up charge vs retail, which is starting to become less and less common these days. Service is sharp, with waiters well trained and dressed to the theme of this fine dining establishment. Bombay Club can now be referenced to as a legendary place in the city and is an absolute must to visit.

Samosas were excellent - 3 pieces.

We made a reservation and were welcomed. Upon arrival we spend 10 mins at the bar area. Very welcoming and friendly service. Truly enjoyed every bit. Food was exquisite. EoF - explosion of flavors.. Kale appetizer is my top choice, next to purple potatoes. Spices are just right for an amazing experience. Main course were salmon, chicken tikka and chicken makhni (similar to butter chic) Each was had amazing flavors. The vegetarian winner is lentils (dal) - cooked for 16 hrs. I would come back only for the dal. Tikka was a bit dry as our server cautioned. Ambiance is traditional, classic architecture with piano music - live. I would come again.

Located near the metro station, it's no wonder this place gets so much traffic. On a busy weekend, I would make sure to make a reservation. The dress code is smart casual, so no athletic wear or torn clothing! It is quiet, simple, and romantic, perfect for a date. The aloo ragda is a sweet and savory dip that goes well with the naan. The truffle naan is just very standard naan but is very light and airy; it tastes the same as a regular naan, however, so don't be fooled by the name truffle! The lamb vindaloo is just a tiny bit spicy. I would definitely try their very spicy next time. The chicken tikka is also very good, although the meat was a little tough.

Parking: downtown washington so limited parking unless you pay to go to parking garage Food: was really good and the vegetarian dish came with small portions of various dishes/sabzi to try. Service: was ok. Ambience: super dark so it was hard to see right in front of you. but it was a clean and neat place

A great restaurant and one of the best Indian restaurants in DC. My friend and I recently went here to celebrate a special occasion and we were seated immediately even before our reservation time. The food came out in a timely manner and we received good service. The ambiance is upscale, white tablecloths, with a dress code (smart casual). I started off by ordering a glass of the Sangiovese, which was extremely disappointing and tasted terrible-I didn't end up finishing it. My friend and I split several dishes, which is definitely the way to go. Paneer Tikka-Incredibly delicious-the paneer was perfectly fried, and well-seasoned and balanced with the pepper and tomato Plain Naan-A very solid naan Truffle Naan-The best naan we tried-the truffles added delicious flavor and were well-placed throughout the naan. My friend and I ended up getting two of them. If you plan on getting naan, this is the one to get. Chili Garlic Naan-A fine naan, but could have used more garlic. Lachha Paratha-Some good funk with the goat cheese but could have used more. Mango Chutney-Sweet, delicious, and paired extremely well with the meats. Tandoori Salmon-The sauce was good, but the salmon could have used more flavor even though it was relatively good quality Club Thali: Lots of good dishes and only two meat dishes on it. The dal was by far the best dish on the Thali-lots of ghee, creamy, well-spiced, and flavorful. The fish and lamb curries and the chicken makhani were fine but needed more spice and flavor (they did pair well with the mango chutney and naan). The thali also had a fine yogurt dish and came with a small portion of well-cooked rice. If I was ordering again, I would have split the lamb vindaloo, dal, and the lobster. Gulab Jamun-Fine, but could have been sweeter and more flavorful. The ice cream was a nice accompaniment. Kulfi-It had an interesting texture and tasted a bit like halva (the Middle Eastern kind) but overall disappointing. The prices are fair for a fancy, downtown DC restaurant, and I recommend for your next special occasion.

Went here for dinner with co-workers while in town for meetings in downtown DC. We ordered family style and pretty much had 1 of everything on their menu. There were drinks poured so I don't remember all the specific dishes we ordered, but will say they were all delicious, with multilayered seasonings and flavor. I do remember the famous green chili chicken (apparently Hillary Clinton's favorite here), the lamb vindaloo, okra, saag (without the paneer), crispy fried kale, butternut squash samosas, and a fish curry. Even my 2 Indian colleagues agreed that food was great. Drinks were also nice. I had the Jaipur sunset and another mango flavored cocktail. Both were balanced well. Good power lunch or dinner spot near the White House that's apparently been around for 3+ decades.

From the outside, one would think Bombay Club would be a typical modestly adorned DC lunch spot - a place for serviceable Indian food to go. But step inside and you're introduced to a more luxurious experience, complete matching white glove service (and an unusual age restriction that prevents young children attending). I recently dined with two colleagues, one an Indian food aficionado who hails from Delhi. You will notice a multicultural clientele. Get over the "eat only where the locals eat" mentality and dig into some seriously genuine cuisine. First timers, or simply those looking for great variety, should consider a Thali - a classic assortment of different Indian foods. I got the Classic Thali on a recent visit, which features chicken and lamb. It did not disappoint. This might be my bloated American dietary bias, but I felt that portions were on the modest side. Otherwise, this was a great meal.

Place is cozy with some Italian decor and Italian music playing. Everything was pretty good in my opinion; can't say that I can choose which course was my favourite! We had the duck prosciutto as an appetizer, which was a special. It was delicious with the cooked duck taste, alongside the toast with very vibrant jam. My vongole pasta was good too; I do like pasta more on the firmer side, which it was. It tasted great with the calm, garlic, and olive oil - simple, yet tasty. The tiramisu itself was fine, but I believe it was enhanced even more with the sauces and cookie bit on the top; the cookie bit was too good. The presentation was beautiful - sliced and then arranged back together like the chef was Michelangelo himself. The small amount of juice around the chicken was excellent - butter and salt and rosemary and a veritable symphony of umami flavors! Divine! The lobster bisque is like no other I have ever had in my entire life and I go back and forth to Maine several times every year! But I have never eaten lobster bisque as smooth, as liquid-gold as this with so much banging flavor!!! Every spoonful exploded in my mouth. I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. Four stars, and we have already declared that we will be back again to "The Dip" because there is so much else on the menu that we want to try.
