I had avoided going here for a couple of years. We went last night and I was right in my avoidance. The food was TERRIBLE!!! The service, for the most part, was okay. The food was awful. I had fish and chips. The fish tasted old and the fries were too greasy to eat. My husband ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich and it looked and tasted pitiful. They didn't charge for the uneaten sandwich, although management was a bit rude about it. read more

This is a great place with awesome food- they have pub food that is over the top - I had a Mason's Ultimate Reuben and the very best Brandy Old Fashion in town! The prices are reasonable - it also is a great place to bring kids. I would recommend it! read more

Staff was very friendly but when it came to food and drinks Forget about it. The drinks are made terribly we ordered a margarita but it tasted like sweet-and-sour and the Long Island was mostly coke. My son ordered "pizza" from the kids menu and it was pizza bread. My kid (yes, is a picky eater) knows the difference between pizza and pizza bread. You really should let people know it's on French bread. He does not like and knows the difference. Long Island drinks are too sour. I had a few over the years and no that's not the way you make it regardless what the bartender said. Another family member went and had a margarita and again too sour! They kept most of the Tikted Kilt theme, the food was alright, the selection of 100 beers was great, the restaurant and bar was clean. BUT the service at the bar was pretty bad, we were waiting almost 20 minutes from when we sat down till we ordered an entrée. And for an Irish themed bar you would think they would have Smithwick's and Harp. read more

In a word, horrible. French onion soup was not a clear broth, no one crouton and no melted cheese. Cheese itself was white and tasteless. Beer markup was outrageous. Staff lacks basic knowledge of health code regulations. Bar tender just dropped menus on the floor, picked them up and handed then to customers who had just sat down. Went back recently to give the new set up a try. Generally the same feel; friendly, warm etc. Plopped down at the bar and chatted with the barman. Walked me through some beers and had a laugh. Order a meatball bomber and Cajun potatoes. BOOM. The potatoes are dangerous for the simple fact my self control went out the window with the first bite. They're fried potato cubes with a crazy Cajun sauce drizzled on them. Not too spicy but definitely know it's there. SO GOOD! The bomber was awesome too, good tangy red sauce, hearty meatballs, crusty substantial bread. Welcome food coma. Solid choice for lunch, dinner or just a beer and the game! read more

I read a review it said the Cuban sandwich sucked. So I thought my first time dining here I would give it a shot. I haven't had a Cuban sandwich since I was in Cuba. The sandwich was spot-on. The bread was fresh the pork was cooked to perfection and a ham and cheese we're right on also. So I gave it five stars and I don't give out five stars rarely. Went there for breakfast today. The waitress was not attentive at. Waited a long time for coffee refill. When our waitress stopped by, she said she was very busy and would be back. She never came back. Finally had to grab a different waitress to fill us up. When our waitress did show up, she forgot we had asked for coffee. The food came after an unusually long wait. It was good, but it was cold. The slow, inattentive service has been our experience the last couple times we have been there. Not sure where the manager was, but he sure wasn't watching what was going on this morning. Food is always good here, you just gotta get better service. I don't think we'll be back. read more

The burgers are normally amazing but tonight was seriously lacking. The bartenders messed up the order on several points, ignored us for most of the night, and the establishment seemed rather understaffed for such a busy evening. After really wanting to like Mason's and trying it three times over about a year, my husband and I have decided it's a no. The food is just not good. I think they try but they are missing the mark. The service is not that great either. The atmosphere is nice so maybe it's a better place to grab a beer than have a meal? The first time we went about a year ago, it was on the recommendation of my husband's grandmother. She said it was great. I had a pizza or flatbread, can't remember but I do remember it was disappointing. My husband and I went back when we moved to Kenosha over the summer. I ordered the brisket sandwich and again was disappointed. Then we went again about a week ago, deciding to give the place one more shot. I had the sliders. The meat was dry and it was very clearly one patty cut into 3 triangle shapes to fit (which didn't really fit) on the slider rolls. The fries were very underdone, they were limp and looked raw. I sent them back and the waitress brought me out a plate of more well-done fries. While they were cooked better, there was still not a lot of flavor. My husband said his burger was "OK." So I figure after 3 tries, I can safely say we won't return. Not worth the money or the calories. read more

Overall a good restaurant. Dinners are better then lunches. Lunches are small portions. Too small in my opinion. Dinners are a much better value. Fish (Cod) and chips is good. Their signature mac and cheese is good. The giant pretzel is enough for 5-6 people to share. Nice waitstaff, although we waited for about 20 mins the other night before being served. I would highly recommend NOT eating at Mason's Eatery & Pub in the future! We specifically called at 5:30 PM to confirm that they give kids Cotton Candy as that was the only reason we were going to go there. Mind you we live in Antioch, IL and the restaurant is in Kenosha. My son got chicken bites and was charged to have bbq sauce with it and the pricing on the kids menu said $6 for all kids meals yet we were charged $7 for the kids burger and pizza bread and $6.50 for the pizza bread... when asked what they came with we were told whatever toppings they wanted... weren't told the cheese on the burger was a $1 more and the Pepperoni was an upcharge too. If you know me you know I wouldn't have cared about $1.50 but it's the point that nothing was as I was told. After convincing my kids if they ate the meals they would get cotton candy and mentioning it in front of the server too at the end we were notified that they didn't have cotton candy because they were waiting on a part. We had called literally 30 mins before coming there and could have been told that. Things happen but when we specifically called before coming there and mentioned it right away they could have informed us instead of watching me tell the kids if they eat good they could get it. My husband had to take the crying 3 year old out of the restaurant bc of the cotton candy issue and so I just paid immediately to get out of there and then called as I left to let the the manager know and he truly couldn't have cared less if he tried. He basically told me I shouldn't have been charged for the bbq sauce for the chicken strips and offered to refund my 50 cents... what a joke. To me it wasn't about the couple bucks it was about the entire experience and despite the kids going to school in Kenosha at Christian Life School we won't ever come back solely based on the lack of care shown by the manager. Had he wanted to make it right he could have even apologized and said he would offer a free kids meal or something next time around... we had spent $80 on our meal.... no wonder they were basically empty! Service matters people and now a days it seems like no one understands that anymore and it's crap like this that makes people go out of business. We still tipped 20% as always... but I just wanted to let my Kenosha friends know if you are wanting good service and care not to go there! I have been here many times..my fiancé and his team come here after every game. There was a hair on the bacon in the Bloody Mary and who I assume was the manager was completely neglectful with making sure it was rectified. She acted like I was a jerk for saying something. Disgusting. Took 10 minutes to bring a new one. She has glasses and dark hair...to the owner find a new one. Never been treated so rudely with a mess up of theirs. That's against the health code everywhere. And we spend a lot every time we come in. read more
