I love this place! I travel from NYC to Houston, Texas ever so often for vacation and every time I come to Houston, I get my nails done at Mason nail salon. It is an amazing place and the quality of their work is through the roof. My nails last about 4 to 6 weeks and I get so many compliments. If it was economically feasible, I would fly to Houston every two weeks. Unfortunately I can't do that so when I come visit, I'll make sure to go right to masons nail salon. I absolutely love them. 3 stars ... 2 stars ... 1 star I guess Mason's Nails is like that pesky ex you know is no good for you, but you keep going back to. Saturday, I had no choice. I dropped into Montrose Nails, and there was a 30 minute wait. With things to do, places to go and people to see, I couldn't afford to waste that half hour. Onto Mason's Nails I went. Within seconds of picking my pretty crimson color, I was in a massage chair, again with room temp water: no water jets blasting, no aromatherapy bath suds. I think it's completely RUDE when the nail technician along with the rest of the staff gab in their lingo (Cantonese, Vietnamese, I can't say what) the entire time. I'm not a total freak, but this makes me uncomfortable. How can I relax in my massage chair and sift through Marie Claire when someone is probably snickering at me. She barely scrubbed my feet, I had to tell her to do more, which she didn't. Since I remembered last time it was just a few dollars more to also get a manicure, I asked her just to buff and clear polish my nails. She buffed each fingernail with 3 simple strokes. Really? For that reason, my clear polish is already cracking on day two. I could have used my $1 nail buffer from Sally's Beauty Supply to do a way better job. Might have taken longer, but the end result would have been better. When she trimmed my nails, I also asked for rounded tips. Square is scary! What did she do? Square tips. I asked her to redo them, and she carried on about to paint my nails before I told her again: "I want rounded tips." The only good thing about this mani-pedi is that you have two people working on you at once, and you get an arm and leg massage. Problem: Day after my pedi, I look down and see that my polish has been smushed by my socks! I put shoes on three hours after my pedi. I never got the fan on my toes like everyone else, so this is probably the reason. Now I have to re-polish my pedi. And as I mentioned before, my clear polish on my fingernails is already chipping away. Major problem: This places keeps busy. And I specifically remember watching on a news expo that per health code, nails salons are supposed to run bleach in the foot soaks before each new client. Did not see that once. Oh. My. Gah. I am NEVER coming back here. read more

I've been here 3 times and I will never come for service at this establishment again. I asked for gel polish and they gave me shellac on purpose to charge me extra. I got no designs or rhinestones on my nails and I got very basic color and short set and they charged me $98. I was very disappointed I felt like I was taken advantage of and the guy who did my toes was very rude. The lady who did my nails did them uneven. None of my nails are even one is lopsided. Definitely not worth $98. I will be going to an independent nail artist before coming to this place again. I honestly wish I could get my money back. Their equipment is rusty like that's not ok and none of the staff had masks on. I was on the phone with my boyfriend and the staff was being mosey and asked me personal questions about the call and my relationship which is very unprofessional. And that "hey girl, thank you girl, girl" little thing they have going on made me feel uncomfortable. I felt like they were gossiping about me and my request for MY NAILS were to much for them. I 10/10 do not I repeat do not recommend this place. They honestly need to be shut down. There are flies everywhere and it just looks so torn down. A waste of tome and money!!! read more

This place is less than a 5 minute walk from my house...I have been here several times of the past 10 years...it has gone down hill...It is luck of the draw...some of the technicians are very attentive and focus on doing a great job...Others are always babbling in vietnamese and do not even paying attention....After my past 2 experiences I will never go back even though it is the most convenient and affordable just steps from my house. The last time I went here the place had no hot water.....WTF...I mean WTF enough said... Today there were 4 technicians all speaking in their language and never acknowledged me or my partner....the lady doing my pedicure made 3 phone calls while doing my pedicure...she cut one of my toes...during the middle of the procedure she went and worked on another woman and then cashed her out and handled cash and never changed gloves...I was bleeding and it grossed me out...thinking back I would have asked her to change gloves...she also used the same utensil on me for my heal as the 2 people next to me with out sterilizing....OMG.....again WTF....I went home and dowsed my nails in tea tree to prevent any infection. The place is very cluttered and dirty...the floors are soiled and the chairs are dated....several of the chairs had backpacks, food, and other items laying in them....the one next to me had a laundry basket in the basin....WTF there are also children being babysat with ipods and lap tops...Next time I would rather wait and drive to a place and get what I pay for and be treated like a paying customer Over the past 5 years the place has gone from 4 stars to 0 read more

First of, the ladies where nice which is why i contemplated on writing this review. But my friend was cut not once but twice, all of my nails are crooked and look like they where dipped in wax. Theres acrylic on my finger and its not coming off. All of my nails are different lengths i did ask to be fixed but after the third time this was the result, these pictures don't explain how bad they look in person. read more

Yesterday, I had a pedicure and shellac manicure. Shellac manicure was wonderful. However, I was cut twice during my pedicure while they were removing my cuticles. One has now become infected and hurts very badly... especially when wearing shoes. read more

Owners and staff were so friendly and sweet. I got just a standard pedicure with polish but I feel like I got a royal treatment. They rub the minty scrub on your legs, then massage more with lotion, then use warm rocks to further massage the bottoms of your feet and calves taking their time to give you a whole spa experience. Again, --and this is a huge plus to me--is the friendliness of every single staff member, the owner's wife has been manager here for 20 years and would come check up on me and my boyfriend (it was his first pedicure), so you know they really care about their customers. Not to mention we sipped on complimentary wine while we sat in the massage chairs. 10/10 would recommend. ps there is also a gelato place in the same strip to go to afterwards so it's a perfect date night read more

The people are very nice and friendly. The quality of service on the other has declined since the new owner and staff. Again, very friendly. There is a girl that doesn't even know how to use the LED UV lamp, kept forgetting to turn it on, then forgot how much time she set it to, so "to make sure" she would set it again..that is just not safe! My hands were burning by the end. The man that did my feet hurt me badly by digging deep in my nails and was extremely rough. I am sad to say that I will not be going back because I have been a customer for a long time (before the new owner). They need better trained and qualified staff. read more

Had a horrible experience here. I was a walk in, and requested to get my acrylic nails removed as well as a polish change on my toes. There was a teen there, who was probably the only nice and respectful one. There were two ladies who worked on me. The lady doing my hands had a bowl of the soak you use dissolve the acrylics, but she did not use it! She was using her hands and square piece of metal to lift the acrylics from my nails!!! Not only was this painful, but incredibly damaging to my natural nails. I haven't had anyone use this method since I was in 8th grade. I literally had to ASK if I could have my nails soaked. She obliged, but shortly after proceeded to use the metal tool to lift and get underneath the acrylic nail to come off. I just let her have at it cause I was ready for my nails to be off. As for my polish change in my toes, this also wasn't done well. The coats were very thick and chunky. It looks like I did it. And I didn't notice until it dried and u got home. They also were not friendly at all to me. I don't typically care, so long as they do a good job. But neither was done. A woman came in shortly after me and was greeted with a hello and how are you, and instant warmth. I couldn't help but think why I wasn't greeted with the same respect.
