I visited this morning for a massage appointment with Mario. I read all the positive reviews and waited for an opening with him and it was well worth it. When booking a massage, you want to make sure that you receive the service that reflects what you pay for. Brier Creek delivered. I arrived ahead of my appointment and Tamara greeted me and got me started with the medical history and preferences questionnaire. Mario was on time and brought me back to the spa room. Everything was very neat, comfortable and quiet. Mario asked about areas that needed attention and my concerns. Mario has an excellent bedside manner as a therapist. He would do well as a chiropractor. Pressure was spot on and all areas of concern were addressed appropriately. The aromatherapy allowed for me to relax. I will be returning for a 90- min session with him soon. So far the membership has allowed me to slow down and make the necessary time for self care. read more

Loved the esthetician and masseuse I had here but their front desk/management could use more professionalism. I have a membership and right after a massage I wanted to tip my masseuse in cash, but their front desk/management didn't have any change. They insisted I go next door to neighboring businesses to ask them to break my bill and they weren't able to ask other masseuses because they were in sessions. It was 2pm in the middle of the day and I'm not sure why they don't have change. This is the only massage envy I've ever had an issue with doing this. They proceeded to ask me to tip on an app on the tablet that takes an extra percentage off for using a card, and this just seemed like a gimmick to me to get more $. Not the best experiencing after a relaxing massage. Fast forward to my next appointment. I intentionally made an appointment with the esthetician I like there. I come to my appointment to find out she is gone. The new esthetician was so inexperienced that she tried to extract a mole off my hairline. I was the last appointment sip she also kept going in and out of the room to clean things up. Not very relaxing. Needless to say I won't be coming back here to use my benefits. read more

I am so disappointed with what the front desk people just told me. I had booked a 90minute online massage with a therapist who has been difficult to book with because his name has not showed up online. As I'm on my way to the appointment, I get a message stating that this therapist isn't getting enough clients because he's doing 90 minute massages instead of 60 minute massages and it is a "pet peeve" of the other therapists because there is a gap in between. First of all, why on earth does any customer need to know all this information nor do I care about this location's office politics. Just very poor customer service. I did speak to the manager who was nice and hopefully in the future will get better customer service training to her front desk employees. But unfortunately the front desk just screwed their therapists because I will not request this particular therapist ever again. read more

Had the worst facial of my life here. I ended up with lip treatment in my hair, eyelashes, and behind my neck. The esthetician was also adding extra services to the facial without telling me they costed extra. I had a very therapeutic massage by Alex, a young lady that was very friendly professional courteous and provided a very good experience. She was able to assess my situation in a couple minutes. Her instructions was clear & concise. I also had a facial by Amber the Esthetician- she was also very courteous respectful professional providing an awesome facial - spa experience. She gave clear concise instructions before during and after the facial - to assure the maximum benefit of the experience. My husband also had a great massage by Helen & a facial by Laqeesa. First of all I want to say that the quality of my massages have been great and the therapists are so sweet, especially LaTresa. I have a monthly membership where I get one massage a month at a discounted price so I try to book once a month. The BIG problem I have is the last minute cancellations. My regular therapist has cancelled on me last minute twice in a row. I understand this happens but two months in a row? It makes it difficult to actually use the service I pay for each month and I am starting to worry that this is just a waste of money and a constant letdown. If you actually get to see someone, you will probably have a great massage but be warned based on my experience there is a decent chance they will cancel on you so don't get your hopes up. If I had cancelled short notice I would have still been charged so I don't appreciate the double standard here. read more

I have had some good experiences here as a massage client. My frustration is that this is my home location for my membership but I no longer live in the city, and no matter what time I call, no one ever answers. It says they only do this at the top of the hour but I've tried calling in the middle of the hour and have the same issue. With Massage Envy's set up, membership and billing changes have to be done by your home office, not online or in the app. So imagine how frustrating it is to keep calling... but no one ever answers. To be quite honest, if you were considering a massage, you are best off going to the mall because the nosebleed of such a transaction is not worth anyone's time. On June 20th I opened a membership account under the guise of once a month massages at a discount rate. Boy, was I in for a treat. After doing some online research I decided it's not worth the money or time to pursue such a thing. I cancelled my membership on June 23rd. I had to walk in and explain in a 3 page packet why I didn't want their overpriced mediocre service on June 23rd. They had to approve the cancellation. ( at this point I'm not here to have my money approved or disproved by greed driven strangers). $80 I was just charged (now July 21). A month after I filled out their paperwork to leave, I would have gone to the mall and let the mall masseuse go to town. For gosh sakes, this is the only business that makes you physically cancel their membership under the guise of "their approval" to cancel. On top of which, the customer service is not conducive to helping you get rid of their sticky business practices. Like a fly in molasses, I am bogged down by their arduous process of cancelling which I can more easily do literally anywhere else with the click of a button. Do NOT sign up for the monthly massage plan!!! It is a scam. I have paid for 4 massages and have only used 1 massage. I tried to schedule one of the 3 massages remaining on my account and Celiece at the front desk told me that I would need to pay out of pocket as my next monthly bill has not been paid yet so my account was on hold. Who does that? 10/10 do not recommend this location or monthly massage plans. I have called the corporate office and had to leave a message. At this point, I am not confident that I will get a response. My next step will be to send the Better Business Bureau a collage of complaints from different sites to see if there can be a lawsuit for keeping peoples money for services that they refuse to render eventhough they are prepaid. I had my monthly appointment this morning at Massage Envy with AJ. Today was one of those days. I was stressed out, had neck and back pain from the stress. AJ takes me back to the message room. She always ask how I'm doing and do I have any problem spots. When I tell you, I so needed this today. I walked out a different person. I always get the 90 minute visit. This time I added the foot scrub which was wonderful. AJ worked her magic on those problems areas and did not disappoint. If I could afford weekly, I wouI would keep every appointment. AJ makes the atmosphere very relaxed. I originally received my first visit as a gift from my husband. I advised the front desk that I wanted a female ( hubby suggestion ) so they made AJ my massage therapist. From that day on it's been AJ. This location not only has amazing massage therapists, they also have the red light therapy Lightstim bed. I was weary at first but after a few sessions on the bed I am feeling so much better when paired with my massage. It has helped with inflammation and just overall pain in my lower back and hips. Finally got in today at 9a and as they want you to come early as I used app to check in was still standing outside the door in the cold for 10min!! Massage Envy- Brier Creek exceeds my expectations.. Clean, friendly staff, and good massages. The first time I went to a Massage Envy was in Chapel Hill and I remember the massage being meh. I've been very impressed with both women who I've had at this location. These massages are what I would expect for "relieving" pain, but they aren't the types of massages I'd get to fix an issue. I have lots of sport injuries and tight muscles, especially from computer work, and these massages definitely help, but they wouldn't be a "fix it" massage. I've had wonderful BMT certified massage therapists who do "fix it" kind of work, but Massage Envy is fine for what I was looking for. I know people commented on the sales tactics. My first visit, years ago, in Chapel Hill, felt very pushy, but these people weren't, and I did choose to sign up for a 6 month contract. I'd say if you aren't looking for frequent follow-up massages, maybe look at independent massage therapists. If you want a frequent massage to relax, then this might be the place. One thing I don't love is that I normally have gone to independent massage therapists (who often charge more), and there tipping isn't as important, but Massage Envy encourages 20% on the "regular price". This makes the $65 member massage into a $77 massage. Please do tip them! But, it definitely makes me consider finding a local independent BMT certified therapist after my membership contract ends. read more

BEWARE A BIG SCAM!!!!!!! I have been trying to cancel my membership since the beginning of April. It seems there is a lack of training and communication. I went in person filled out a cancellation form I asked could I get a follow up email in which I was told they do not send emails for cancellations, so why ask for my email address but was assured by the associate that the employee that handles cancellations ONLY works on Thursdays which I found odd but ok would be sure to process the paperwork!! Anyway FFWD to May massage envy charges my account so I called for an explanation was given the "PRACTICED STANDARD" dialogue, and was told AGAIN it would be handled once again no we can not send an email to confirm the cancelled membership but the associate that handles cancellations would take care of it on Thursday when they come in..Well Lordy be on yesterday June 18th what do I get an alert from my bank stating a debit for massage envy LOL I had to laugh to keep from getting angry so I called asked to speak to a manager and guess what they are not in to handle my issue but they would return my call. I get a call today June 19th while at my doctors appointment I could not answer but no message was left but because I knew the number I called as soon as I got into my car and was told my membership could not be cancelled because I need to fill out YET another cancellation form why was I not told this in May when I called nor was I told I would have to do 2 forms when I went in April. Employees should be trained equally with the same information. I read there is a problem when it comes to massage envy cancellations and there is a class action lawsuit. I went in today June 19th to do ANOTHER cancellation form, called my bank to block future debits, etc..The bank did inform me though that if massage envy changes the way they debit it's possible it may come out in July if this happens I will be sure to seek legal advice because at this point they know exactly what they are doing STEALING clients money and coming up with excuses to justify their actions and if I missed this in the fine print etc... a simple phone call to let me know there was an issue with my cancellation would have been the courteous thing to do but no they just wanted to continue to take my money, glad I get alerts when money comes out my account otherwise no telling how long it would go on..also this seems like normal practice for massage envy when it comes to cancellations. Attending a class here in Raleigh and want a deep tissue massage. It is always hit or miss with finding a good massage therapist that can apply the right deep pressure. If you are looking for a therapist that is friendly, professional, and provides great deep tissue massage Satinn is the therapist for you. She listened to how much pressure I wanted although with Satinn she just seemed to know. One thing I would recommend is that for those new or even seasoned recipients of massage....communicate with your therapist about what feels good, how much pressure, let them know when it feels good or is too much. Bed fore the end of the 60 or 90 min massage. The earlier the better if you are not getting what you would like. However I was given a $75 gift card for a massage and after the massage they tell me that I owe an additional $55 because I was a non member and had used my introductory massage at a massage in June so I had to pay full price today. Excuse me...first off when did a 60 minute massage become $130 at Massage envy and this policy was never explained to my girlfriend who thought she was purchasing a full price massage for me. She was so embarrassed when I told her because she said when she purchased she asked for a gift card for a 60 massage and there was no conversation about member or non member pricing. I used to be an Are used to be a member several years ago and dropped my membership for all the red tape that they have and the inability to book a massage because of a lack of availability time slots. This place is a rip off and I won't be back even though Karen was phenomenal! I will make sure all my friends know not to buy Christmas gift card from this or any other location because it's not a gift of you have to pay more than the gift card cost. Every single time after that, I was never able to find an appointment time that worked with my schedule. I wasted $80/month for the next 11 months. When I reached the end of my term, I sent a cancellation on exactly 30 days prior to term ending date. Was told it takes 10 days to process. And yet I was still charged after my term ended. I sent an email asking why I was charged after I submitted my cancellation request with plenty of time. I received nothing. I called and was put on hold for 20 minutes. Then called back and was told I WAS the one responsible for being charged ... because I HAD NOT given them ample notice. I was told 30 days was required. I submitted exactly at 30 days. It said it required 10 days to process. 10 days went by and it wasn't taken care of. To shift blame to ME, after I did what was required, is why this review is being left here. Then when I attempted to tell the woman I spoke to how ridiculous and incorrect she was, to tell me I didn't provide ample notice, I was hung up on. I was not cursing or yelling but she didn't want to take the blame or apologize for me having to put this much work into stopping this from happening. I was told I'd receive a refund and won't be charged again. I certainly hope that is true otherwise I will be taking legal actions because at that point it becomes theft. I just went to this Massage Envy for the first time and I enjoyed everything so much I am now a member...and massage envy has been trying to get me for a couple years of intermittent massages. The in house staff are courteous, the place is clean, and overall was a good experience. I had a deep tissue massage with JARED. He's amazing. I don't usually like a lot of pressure and I have never had a deep tissue before but I hurt my back and my doc recommended some massage or physical therapy. Since my issue is muscular, I decided to try massage first. First off he was great at identifying what I needed and he took it easy on me being as I have never had anything more than a 1/10 pressure or "relaxing" massage. It HURT like the dickens but he was able to work out so much with his technique not with strength or digging in my back. I had so much pain in my right shoulder and whenever I turned my head it also hurt or pulled a muscle....as soon as I got in my car and I checked my rear view which usually makes that pain trigger....nothing. I've been waiting almost a month for a refund. The manager Jen said she issued it but day after day I wait and it does show on my credit card. Never seen a company take so long to do what they say they will do. Also, can't get a return email from the store, the manager or the corporate office. My google review got a reply asking me to email guest relations, I did - no response. They must be very busy handling unsatisfied customers. I would just like them to do as they have said they would do. Got a massage here last night and while the customer service was friendly, it was convenient to get to and the facility was clean (especially the bathroom - good job keeping that kept!) I left my massage feeling icky and super gross. I've had a lot of massages at different places but here the non scented lotion, which felt more like lightly creamy paste made the experience less therapeutic and got me nauseous when leaving. My skin following the massage started to flake, the flakiness you get after a sunburn. It's a bummer because before even coming, I was heavily considering getting a year long subscription because the locations all over town would make it easy to schedule appointments. But if this is the only type of lotion they use at Massage Envy, I'm likely to never return again. read more

Massage Envy is a chain and this one is located in the Brier Creek shopping center. They managed to lure me in because as a first-time customer, they have a special where you pay just $49 for a one hour massage. That's a pretty good deal in my book because their one hour massages are usually around $90. What's awesome is that once you get on their mailing list or after they get your information on your first visit, they start sending you these awesome coupons about every month to every other month asking you to come back to try out their introductory special of $49 "one" more time! I've had three different massage therapists do my massage here and all of them did a great job. I'm a deep tissue massage kind of girl and I've had massage therapists in the past that don't have the muscle for it, but that definitely wasn't the case here. The massage therapists do a great job of going over your problem areas with you before diving into the massage. Their facilities are very clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Don't expect this to be like a day spa though because it's not. Lastly, if you're the kind of person who gets massages often, this might be a great place for you. They have a membership program that offers their massages at a discounted rate if you sign up for a year's worth. Just ask them about it when you go in! read more

If I could give zero stars for the management customer service I would. I had canceled my membership a few months ago bc I was trying to save money. Was in the area on Tuesday so checked to see if I had any remaining credits left to use before I couldn't use them anymore. Was told I had 1 credit left so I booked a 1 hour massage. I got the massage today, checked out, paid tip and left. Then on my way home get a call that they had checked out the wrong person and that I only had 1/2 credit left and so I would owe for the other 30 minutes. And I was accused of walking out of a service and not paying. Spoke with the assistant manager and office manager who both put the blame on me saying that I should have known how much credit I had and that I was responsible for the balance. Never once did they apologize for the situation or consider that they may have made a mistake bc it was all my fault and if I didn't pay the balance they would bring the police in. Their only response was "it's your responsibility, you need to solve it by paying the difference". Let me remind you that I NEVER would have booked the damn massage had I known I only had a 1/2 credit and not a full credit left. I'm so glad I cancelled my membership bc they are a waste of money and now I see why my 2 favorite therapists left. read more

I had tried another ME location and wasn't happy with it, but decided to try again since I had a gift card and really needed a massage. The reception staff is quite friendly and efficient, and the waiting room is wonderful (calm music, drinking water, etc). No hard sell here, which I appreciated. My massage therapist didn't keep me waiting. Jason was friendly, professional and great at his craft. I felt completely relaxed and comfortable having a male massage therapist. He focused on all the areas that needed attention, and I walked out feeling amazing. After a few months Jason left, but he referred me to Jessie who is just as wonderful. I started this as an experiment, thinking there was no way I would want to have a massage every month. Now I am a happy customer and can't wait for my next appointment. I scheduled a 90-minute massage for today for relaxation as well as to assist with sciatic pain. The first 30 minutes went very well. It fell apart after that. My therapist was great! It was the aesthetician and her client in the neighboring room and management that made my visit extremely unsatisfactory. The neighboring room was divided by an accordion partition wall which from the get-go I knew could pose a problem but was hopeful no issues was arise. As soon as the aesthetician and her client entered the room, they never stopped talking. I get a conversation is needed but it was not all about getting it facial. Initially it was about her using Dove soap and two other ingredients on her face. I heard the entire list of questions that an aesthetician must ask prior to providing a facial and the client's responses. Then they realized they knew some of the same people (starting with someone named Ms. Jackson). I state these things to let you know I heard it all!! This went on for about 7-8 minutes I'm guessing before I said something to my therapist who stated that I was not the first client to complain about this. After a few more minutes I asked if she would knock on the door and ask the aesthetician to please lower her voice. It sounded like they were in our room and the partition wall provided extremely minimal sound protection. Instead my therapist asked management to say something to her and I was appreciative of her efforts to help restore a relaxing massage. When she returned to my room I turned the white noise app on my phone and set it to medium and placed it on the floor underneath my head. Medium is loud to me. I use a low setting at home. Well, another 5-10 minutes went by and the conversation level had not gotten any better or quieter. So I called the front desk and talked to Jasmine, shift manager, while lying on the table trying desperately to enjoy my massage. Jasmine said that a note was placed under the aesthetician's door and I replied "she clearly hasn't seen it". Jasmine said she could not knock on her door because she could not disturb the session. I replied "but my session can be disturbed and it's ok". After a few more minutes, I could no longer take it. I was furious!! What was supposed to be a relaxing and peaceful massage turned into what felt like break room conversation occurring in my room and management was okay with this. I got dressed and one hour had lapsed. Remember, I was there for a 90-minute massage. Once I got to the front desk I spoke with Jasmine and Jennifer who is either a district or corporate manager. They knew I was upset. I told them both I would pay for the first 30 minutes as that was a satisfactory (yes, I was willing to compromise) but I asked for credit for the disturbed 30 minutes and the 30 minutes that was unused. I was told I would be charged for one hour because that is how the therapists get paid and they had to treat the session as if I was cancelling it. I DID NOT CANCEL!!!!! I asked for a credit for a future visit which seemed totally reasonable to me. NOPE!!! That was NOT provided either. I was told I get could a free enhancement my next visit (which averages around $15-$20). OH MY GOSH!!! Seriously! A free enhancement? Year end 2021 Massage Envy had a gross profit of $80,199,048 and the Jennifer is more worried about making sure she gets her money for 60 minutes than my customer satisfaction. I have been a member for many years and NEVER have I ever once thought about walking out!!! Lastly, I asked if an aesthetician needs to talk during the entire facial then why is she placed in a room that does not have four solid walls. Jennifer said, "because that's the room the aesthetician likes to be in". Really!?!? Come on management! Think this through! Your customers satisfaction should truly matter but it did NOT today!!!!!!!! And for the record, I did tip my therapist for the full 90-minute session because this was not her fault! I did my part but management was truly unwilling to do theirs!!!! read more

Today, I was excited to take advantage of a massage that my sweet friend Donna Smith gifted to me. I'm in the midst of radiation treatment for breast cancer and she thought I could use some relaxation. Upon my arrival, I checked in and the receptionist said my paperwork was already completed (not sure how because I never filled anything out; perhaps it was from a previous visit at another location). I was soon called back by my therapist and we chatted briefly about my needs. I was upfront about being in the middle of treatment and noted that I'd like for him to focus on my hands and feet because I was still dealing with neuropathy as a result of a chemo med. He asked if I had permission from my doctor and I said yes (I've discussed it with my oncologist on several occasions). I've had a couple massages at other places while going through treatment, including one in the middle of my chemo and another just a week ago. He left so I could undress. A few minutes later, he returned and told me that the ME policy prohibited him from giving me a massage without a doctor's note. I got dressed and left, much more irritated than I arrived. Why would I jeopardize my health for a massage? At no other spa have I had to provide written documentation. And interestingly, when I Googled ME and chemo, I found not one but two links, touting the benefits of massage for cancer patients with ZERO mention of a doctor's note required. The receptionist said she could not provide her with a reference to the policy but that's why they ask customers to complete paperwork so the therapist can have notes about any issues that may be present and make a determination him/herself. As I noted above, I didn't complete any paperwork so now this location is not only lacking in customer service skills but also honesty.
