Came in with a printed out gift card purchased straight from Massage Envy's website, for a one hour massage and presented it to the manager on duty before my appointment. She said she would look it over and sent me into my appointment to get started. The only reason I came was because I had a gift card. After I had my whole massage, I came out to the desk and was told by that same manager that the gift card didn't exist or was unusable and I had to pay $130 out of my pocket for the session. The manager even said that she would call the cops on me if I didn't pay. I didn't sign anything agreeing to the cost or had that explained to me prior to the appointment at all, yet I was responsible for payment. This was a massive oversight on the management part at my expense. If there was any question of the gift cards validity she should have sorted that out before allowing me to have the service, not wait until my service was complete and then tell me I have to pay in full. I feel as though I was scammed massively by this location and don't have any trust in the staff to feel comfortable returning. Not gonna lie, a deep tissue massage is NOT relaxing. It's therapeutic. And David is amazing at it. I really do require fascia stretching and while it does hurt and can leave bruises, it's super duper worth it for my lower back pain. I met David by selecting "deep tissue" type while scheduling on the app at my preferred time of day and he really targeted the areas I needed and had huge knots. I highly recommend a Massage Envy membership. I go to several different locations and they're all super easy to schedule, clean, and the massage therapists are great at draping you so you don't feel naked! haha They check-in with you throughout the massage and make sure you're getting what you expected and if the pressure is what you prefer. read more

I hesitated writing this review, but I still find myself very disappointed and frustrated 4 days after my most recent visit. I have received countless massages over the years and always request a deep tissue. I had a gift card saved for nearly a year that was given to me by my husband and decided it was the perfect time to say it in. Life has been more stressful than usual and I found myself in a constant state of being wound up and tense. I thought an hour of calm, quiet, relaxation, and simply turning off would do the trick to remind my body it can unwind. I called the store and requested a deep tissue massage with a female therapist. I was booked with my therapist for 4pm. Upon arrival, I discussed my problem areas and what I wanted to work on and the information was logged into the system via iPad. I advised I wanted to work on my back, specifically my right upper back and neck. I was called back to my massage room and the therapist began to ask all the same information I had already provided 10 minutes prior. It is at this point, she advises me her pressure is light to firm. I let her know I was matched with her based on my deep tissue massage request when making the appointment. She tells me she doesn't do deep tissue and "isn't hurting her hands for anyone". She also tells me management keeps hiring new people up front and this mix up has happened before. I find myself now stuck in a position where I have already driven to the facility and this therapist has booked the hour for me, so I proceeded with the massage. Shortly after starting, the therapist continues to tell me that she only practices medical massage and why it's better than deep tissue that everyone always asks for. I now realize I'm receiving some type of massage I'm not even familiar with. Of the entire 45 minutes I was on the table, 15 minutes of the time was spent on the areas I had indicated I wanted worked on. She massaged my arms and legs, neither of which I requested. I indicated to her that I wanted to spend the rest of the time working on my back, and she told me she needed to loosen these areas to do that. I advised her I was experiencing pain in my arms, even wincing, and she told me that means it's working. 4 days later, I am still bruised. I have NEVER been bruised from a massage. Additionally, she took very little care to ensure I was appropriately covered when lying chest up and did not turn around when I flipped over as every other therapist has done in the past. She seemed very rushed and irritated with the situation. This massage was the exact opposite of relaxing and I only grew more and more frustrated and angry that I actually just paid to feel worse than when I came in. Upon walking to the front desk to pay out, I explain to the receptionist that the therapist they matched me with didn't do deep tissue massage and that I got some full body medical massage I did not request. She pulls the therapist's info up on the computer and says, "She's always done deep tissue massage, I guess she must have changed it." I'm visibly disappointed, so she tells me I should come back again some time and try a massage with Eric, that he is good... Then she proceeds to ask me for my payment and even tries to sell me a membership. At the same time, the customer next to me is upset over a billing situation. What is going on at the front desk??? Appalled, I let her swipe my gift card for $65 and make my way out. I am so very disappointed and feel like I've totally wasted my birthday gift. I am still sore and bruised 4 days later. I would like to redeem the remaining $35 on the gift card for cash as I do not wish to return to Massage Envy. read more

I was told when I went to my appointment that their system had deleted multiple appointments and mine was one of them. Even though I had rescheduled my work schedule for this appointment and they had a record of my call and found my appointment, they informed me that they were booked and could not accommodate me. I was upset but understood that things happen. It was when Natalie the manager called and told me that SHE could not locate my record, questioned if I had in fact made an appointment, and there was nothing she could do since she couldn't find record of my appointment and that I could simply come a following week. I have have this appointment booked for a month. They have told me they would call me back to fix their mistake at 9 am. I did not receive a call until 8 pm and the manager was not understanding or helpful to remedy their mistake. Very disappointed and won't be coming back. I'd give the Carrollton Massage Envy a zero star rating if it were possible. read more

I had the most embarrassingly amateurish and untherapeutic massage I've ever had at this location by one of the therapists. I know that some of the therapists are very good and I have had decent massages at other Massage Envys. Just make sure to look at some reviews for the location on Yelp or Google reviews or something and find someone highly reviewed to request. read more

Came in due to the fact that I had a gift card. Their location is in a little plaza next to a Gamestop and there's also a Kohl's nearby. It's a Massage Envy so I didn't expect it to be in a glamorous place. For the most part, my visit was just about average. The spa itself is very beautiful. The quiet room was very dim and relaxing- preparing me for the massage. They had me fill out some quick paperwork in the lobby prior to the massage. It's important to arrive early because they won't do the massage until paperwork has been completed. I can't remember the name of the girl who helped me prior to the massage but she was exceptionally great! Very helpful, spunky and friendly. I definitely enjoyed our conversation. We had discussed how unbelievably boring North Texas is and how we missed our home cities lol. Our interaction definitely stood out more than my massage. As for the massage I had Zac. Now, I've had several massages throughout the years so I'd like to think I'm very well-versed when it comes to massages... He's not a bad therapist, but I just think he didn't suit my needs. I prefer firm to deep pressure. He definitely has a firm hand however his massage technique wasn't for me. After the massage, of course it felt pretty okay but not necessarily great. It wasn't enough to complain since it wasn't a bad massage but it wasn't a great one either. If I had to pay out of pocket, I probably would've been more upset. I'm sure Zac is a great therapist but nonetheless, not for me. All in all, an average visit which I would have expected from a Massage Envy. read more

I have a very bad back..degenerative disc disease with 2 herniated discs. I have had my share of massages in the past, and my brother got me a gift card to massage envy for my birthday. I made an appointment for Lisa, and was blown away!! I ended up signing up for a membership on the spot because Lisa was just that amazing!! She has over 15 years of experience, and she knows right where to push. She can go lighter, but I like a deep tissue massage the best. During a Pandemic, when the store was closed, I was automatically charged when I couldn't use my membership. I called to have them cancel and refund me and that was an absolute heated debate to make it happen. Last night suddenly I was charged again for my monthly fee. I called to have it refunded and my membership cancelled yet again and this had to become another heated debate escalating to a manager for that to happen. I'm waiting on cancellation paperwork (it's an email, doesn't take more than a minute to deliver and it's not here 30 min later) to ensure that happens. I highly suggest folks look at other places that actually care about your health vs. taking your money!! I have had three separate appointments here and all have been rough. The first guy had no idea about location of an iliac crest and repeatedly used elbows over bone. The second, Jessica, had no idea on true deep tissue. Today was supposed to be with Edwin. The person I saw was not Edwin and certainly doesn't know deep tissue. She started late, had no pattern or sequence for massage, didn't understand deep tissue at all, and had an attitude. When she moved to my lower body, she asked how it was and I said "okay." I'm not one to make a big issue on this type of stuff. Instead of just going along to my lower body she haphazardly pulled the sheets back on my top and began to aggressively massage my upper body. She began firmly and inappropriately digging in to my neck and landed over vascularure in the neck rather than the muscles. I tolerated it to not want to cause an issue but was very uncomfortable. I never asked for this and didn't tell her to stop until I had a fingernail, once again, digging in my back. I made mention of it and moved and she stopped and told me she had really short nails. She doesn't on that fiver as I now have a 3 in scratch in my back from her. I asked for her to step out and she asked if I was ending the session. I said yes I'd like to speak to the manager. She asked if I wanted them to come in there and I said I'd like to put my clothes on and I'd speak to them out there. She continued the rudeness when I came out and the front desk didn't seem to care. The manager was aware and didn't bother to come out to greet me when he knew I was coming out. The entire experience was awful. Ive been coming to massage envy for 10 years and this location has awful therapists. The manager seems to not care much and just suggested another therapist. One who always has last minute availability-which is a red flag!!! Avoid this place! read more

Thought I'd try it once, why not? Greetings were mechanical, unsmiling, robotic. Explanations of services, paperwork, etc. very thorough and complete, no fine print, everything very clear (a plus, especially since they advertise that customers really should consider a membership!). The entry/lobby area is nice, with subdued lighting and tasteful, minimal decor. After filling out the intake forms I was notified that usually when you are waiting, you can go into their "relaxation room" beforehand, but today it was full. Later I had the opportunity to glance into that room: it's tiny-sized, with like 3 or 4 chairs and a little end table, and it's not even closed off from the busy main hallway of the place. Not much relaxing about that. Ah well, at least the massage therapist called me back in good time (didn't have to wait). The room was had dim lighting and the mood music was going. I asked to have the music off, though, because it was loud enough in the next room for me to hear it perfectly in my room. My therapist was friendly, asked questions about my preferences, and left the room so I could disrobe and get comfy on the heated massage table. I must say, the table was one of the most enjoyable I've tried...if only because of two things - the heated table pad (heavenly!) and the major padding of the face rest. I get sinus issues when i have massages due to the face pressure, but this time i did not, probably because of all the cushiness of that thing. It was really excellent. Okay, so the massage starts, and right away I can tell they are using a not-so-expensive lotion, rather than massage oil, to do their work. It's creamy and thick and does not allow the massage artist to really move and feel the body's muscles (just my opinion). I could tell this would not be a very relaxing, indulgent experience in that the employee lacked that "something" that most spa employees have. I can't describe it, but maybe you know what I mean - most spa places are "all about the experience" and "all about helping you" but this person was all business. That's okay. I decided to turn the massage into more like physical therapy and ask that muscles/fascia get worked on - and this was fine. Ah well. The employee worked on legs, a little on the shoulder fascia, (literally rubbed lotion on arms and thighs, and finally spent like two minutes on the scalp, which was the best part of the treatment. I never did get the whole body swoosh at the end, the one touch that brings it all together. Again, oh well. Pros: not too expensive, all Massage Envy locations are easy to find, near your home/office, prices, including tips are all spelled out, rooms are warm enough, tables are divine,employees are competent Cons: massage rooms are so small that you can hear/see the employee scraping their body against the walls as they move around the table to do their work, music can be too loud/you cannot choose what you want to hear, the place feels like a mill in that they take in your cash and grind out massages Bottom Line: I would recommend going here if you know the therapist who is working on you and you like their technique. I would recommend the $49 intro special for new customers. It's worth exactly that. I would not necessarily recommend a membership unless you are a no-frills person who wants to just get in, get the massage and get out. (Admittedly, I need frills with my massage - quiet, maybe a cup of tea, and less of a rush-rush feeling.) read more

They screwed up my appointment. I went on their website 4 days early and requested an appointment. They called the next day to confirm the times. I show up 10 minutes early for my massage and they acted like I didn't make an appointment. I showed them the confirmation email, the phone logs and finally went behind the counter and showed them where in their gmail account to find my emails. In the end, whomever had called me didn't set up the two hour appointment. I didn't get a massage. They were full of apologies after starting out with skepticism that I had even made the appointment. Now they're trying to figure out who on the staff made the mistake. I still want a massage. Very frustrated. read more

Today was my first visit there. When I checked in, the ladies out front were nice, but the responses seemed mechanical. I selected light to medium pressure due to being sore from helping my husband after his hip surgery. I just wanted a nice relaxing massage to help ease some of the tension and stress. I explained this to the therapist (who was very hard to understand due to her heavy accent). What I received was deep tissue/trigger point and even after I told the therapist she was hurting me, she didn't ease up. She said she was barely touching me, but I have bruises for crying out loud and I do NOT bruise easily. I have had deep tissue massages, so I know what they are and this wasn't what I wanted. If a client says go easy, the therapist should GO EASY and not dig in even deeper and harder. I am pretty disappointed and I will not be going back. read more

I called to schedule a message and was told I had lost all the ones that I had not used!!! they said I had 60 days to use them once I cancelled BUT that was not told to me when I cancelled. I went to Message Envy because I had received a gift card for my birthday. I enjoyed the actual facial, nice relaxing environment but what I don't like is the pushy receptionist and esthetician. The whole facial I felt like the girl and then afterwards at checkout like they were pushing products and trying to get me to sign up for the membership. I ended up buying two overpriced products which I don't even really like. The receptionist, as I was checking out, seemed annoyed and questioned me as to why I was not signing up for the membership. I had my massage done by Alex 2 days ago. Had a big issue with him being late and ending ten mins early. It's funny how you ask me to sign up the membership after he was late, and finished 10 mins early. That means if I get 12 massages and he finishes 10 mins early that's 120 mins equals to massages out the window. Also 5 minutes late basically I'm paying for 9 massages. The worst part is if you don't have a membership the massages are $80.00. I'll just hire someone to come to my house. Was lied to about my account being frozen they were still charging me after I told them I wanted to cancel the membership I got this membership here and paid for two months. After that I realized I wasn't able to afford it so I went to the store and let them know that. They were not understanding at all and told me I had to write a letter or I could freeze the account. So I choose to freeze the account. When I looked at my bank account I noticed they were still charging me for the membership so I cancelled my card because they lied to me and called me and said they would freeze it again. Now I receive a letter in the mail and its been over a year now and they are wanting me to pay 944.00. There is no way I am paying for that when I told them several times I wanted to cancel it. They have no customer service at all there and don't listen to their customers. I spoke to a girl that claimed to be the manager. I believe her name was Angie. She was not helpful at all and kept repeating herself. She was not fit for a management position because she didn't even know what to do to help me. After the intro price of 55, the regular return visit is 95 unless you sign up for the membership which is 65 a month. Not sure if I'm ready to do that just yet.
