Walked in tonight (6/3/21) without a mask and had one of the front receptionists check me in and take my temperature and wasn't told anything about a mask requirement. Once my masseuse, Yris, came to get me in the waiting room, we walked to the designated room and went over my problem areas and preferred pressure ( this entire time I had no mask on). Towards the end of the massage when I flip over, Yris asks if I have my mask and I told her not with me now and she tells me that it is still required and that there are even signs on the door saying so. Well Yris, I can read and both you and the receptionists have eyes and said absolutely nothing when you clearly saw I was not wearing a mask. I asked her to hand my my bag so I could check to see if I had a mask which luckily I did so I put it on to finish off the massage. Yris was clearly bothered as her demeanor changed and she threw my arms and legs around and was careless. When I checked out, the girls at the front said " and just so you know, we do have masks available if you need one ". Okay then why wasn't I told anything when I walked in by you guys or Yris until I turned over during the massage ? I've been to other locations that have not required a mask and understand some are independently owned therefore not always having the same requirements but if you're gonna harass me AFTER I walk in without a mask and when the massage is pretty much over what's the point ? The thing that turns me off with massage envy is after taxes my massage membership is around 60$ a month. There industry "tip" standard says a 60 min massage should have a gratuity of 22$ which equals a twenty percent tip. How does that equate? What it really is that massage envy wants us to tip high to compensate for them not paying their massage therapists a better rate and it guilts it's customers into thinking they aren't appropriately tipping. The massage therapists are a hit or miss but they do have acquired some talent. The receptionist are nice too. read more

Stop the madness! Apparently they automatically renew your YEAR contract without notifying you! No courtesy phone call or email as a heads up that they're gonna lock you in for another year. Between my husband and myself we currently have about 20 hours worth of services racked up in our accounts (never should have signed up for their scammy "membership"). If we want to cancel we have 60 days to use our credits or we lose them. This is just bananas. I want this rectified by Massage Envy ASAP ***UPDATE*** Just an update as it's now been months since I've started the process of providing my feedback and waiting for their GM Dave to contact me. Crickets. He is essentially refusing to call or email me despite my attempts to try and resolve things. I am extremely disappointed not only in my massage today, but mainly the customer service received at this location. I had scheduled a deep tissue massage, let the therapist know I needed more pressure, was not accommodated. I brought this to the front desks attention after my service and their response was that the app is not booking friendly and this therapist indeed does not do deep tissue and I should have called to book my appointment and to not use the app in the future... No apology, nothing. As a previous JCA for massage envy I find this extremely disappointing customer service from your sales associates. As well, if this is a known issue as the sales associate stated I should have received a call about my booking that could not be accommodated rather than wasting my paid for service. There is no bigger buzzkill than Massage Envy. They gather information when you first arrive so they can use it against you later in their sales pitch. When I am finished with my massage and I come out of the room, I just wanna go home. I'm feeling euphoric and groggy.... please stop trying to make me enroll in your membership program. I hate it. I've been having massages at Massage Envy (Mesa Gateway) every week for several months now; sometimes twice per week. No other location including this one is comparable to their massages and customer service. I booked a massage at this location for the very first time and spent over half an hour to get an appointment booked over the phone as they couldn't find me on their system. After continuous wasted efforts , I advised them to call Mesa Gateway to get my information and call me back. We booked a couples massage and specifically indicated that we wanted one male, one female therapist. Upon filling our forms today, I realized that the therapists were both females. When I inquired about it, they had no one to accommodate my massage. One girl indicated that David was available as he is still on duty but then another young lady said he has left. Apparently the young lady Tried contacting him which remained futile. The situation itself was very frustrating and on top of that it was such a waste having my husband and I leave work early to get this massage! How disappointing! And their fix to this was to offer me a sugar foot rub included in my massage time? I've been too loyal of a customer to massage envy to continually have small mishaps like these. At another location they couldn't find my name on the system and by the time they did, the spot was filled and all they did was apologize! Time to wake up Massage Envy; small issues like these should be avoided! Definitely will never be back to this location and makes me second guess returning to any massage envy. read more

The massage was good but the massage therapist told me about a stretch session they offer and I should think about taking one. So I booked a stretch therapy session for the next day for 30 minutes.. I got there and I went in the room she told me to lay in a couple different potions for 15-20 seconds each and moved me around. That was it !! For all that money spent. read more

The massage itself was fantastic. Laura was my MT and she was very kind and paid attention to make sure I was comfortable. The blonde receptionist at the front desk was also great. From calling to make the appointment to welcoming me in, she was super kind and made me feel welcome! The two stars off are unfortunately why I won't be coming back. The girl that did the pre-massage consultation + post massage wrap-up was way too salesy. Immediately after a relaxing massage the last thing I want is someone trying to force me to buy a membership. Mind you, my massage was a gift. When I said 'no thanks' the first time, she asked why. I explained I just moved here, it's the holidays and I just can't commit to it right now. It was a great deal but not something I can do at this time. Her attitude changed with me. After I used my gift card + left my tip for Laura, the last thing she said to me before walking out the door wasn't "have a great day" or "thanks for coming" but "and next time you come you'll be paying the NON-MEMBERS rate". Yes honey, I know. Thanks. I understand it's a business but no need to be so pushy after someone is there for relaxing. Not everyone can afford a monthly massage but that doesn't mean they deserve less respect. Kudos to Laura + the receptionist. It's just a shame I don't feel comfortable coming back to be sold to. I went here for their massage entry level pricing massage which is pretty hard to beat. I paid $55(ish) dollars for a 90 min deep tissue massage. The massage therapist was awesome... can't remember her name. She did not only deep tissue but also incorporated stretching into the massage. She was very nice and didn't talk your head off. The review is missing one star because after you get all relaxed from your massage, the front desk is very pushy about signing a contract to get massages with them every month. After you get a massage you just want to stay relaxed (kinda hard to do when you still have to drive in Phoenix traffic), go home, and take a nap. I had to say no to their little contract multiple times. What the contract said was that you would be paying 60 dollars a month for a 50 minute massage, and it would be deducted from your bank account every month. If the pricing was still at $49 dollars a month like it was last year, they would have got me. However, at $59 dollars I can spend a few more dollars and go to my chiropractors office for a massage, and not have a contract. There was also a gift card issue where we called the store the night before to check the gift card balance. They told us the amount over the phone, but at the end of the massage when it came time to pay there was $29 dollars missing from the card. Makes me wonder what the person did when I gave them the card number last night, but oh well I have no proof. Overall the price was right, this time. There's always deals on groupon for massages, or other places for the same if not cheaper with no contract. At least go for the first cheap visit, then you can decide from there. And if you have to check a gift card, I would do it in person. read more

I went here a couple years back to get a facial before a family vacation, but didn't think to leave a review until now. It was supposed to be an hour-long facial. The girl came to me at 2:00pm to tell me it'll be a few minutes for her to get the room ready. I'm totally fine with that; I know thing happen to cause delays. She finally took me in at 2:15. I figured since it was her that caused the delay, my facial would run to 3:15 to still give me the hour. Nope, only 45 minutes. And I SWEAR I heard her texting on her phone while the creams and lotions were sitting on my skin. Not very professional. The overall place is VERY clean and a great place, but it wouldn't be my first choice for another facial. read more

This is the best Massage Envy that i have been to. I prefer a deep tissue massage as my muscles get really tight from lifting a lot of heavy weights at the gym. I always see Marissa or Michael... they are the best! Although I am sad Marissa is leaving soon. I always leave feeling much more relaxed. I had one recent instance where I injured my neck at the gym... i had zero range of motion. After I saw Michael i could move my head side to side again. After a few sessions over a couple of weeks i was back to normal. I also had extremely tight hip flexers and runners knee. I didn't even have to tell Marissa what was bothering me... she could already tell just from my massage. She had me walking again in no time... without a limp. I got a gift certificate for a 90 min massage and was so excited to use it after my school year ended and while my kids were still in school. Unfortunately, the relaxation I had in mind was not what I received. Even after discussing my desire for a quiet, relaxing massage with the front desk staff, my massage was anything but. My therapist talked non-stop and was extremely rough, even after I asked her to tone down the pressure several times. I found myself wishing my 90 minutes was up. Then, when she massaged my face, I could smell whatever spicy dish she had eaten. I was absolutely disgusted and disappointed. As I was paying and checking out, I told the front desk staff about my experience and when they tried to give me a deal on my next massage I explained that I wasn't able to afford another massage and would have to wait until I got another gift certificate. He said that was too bad and I was on my way. Later that day I received a called from the manager of this location, again trying to get me to purchase a discounted massage. I again explained my predicament - little money, no babysitter, etc. and she said she was going to talk to her manager and see if she could offer me something else. I never heard from her again. I was extremely disappointed in this whole experience. I was very clear about what I wanted from my massage and did not receive it. Then, to make up for their mistake, the staff tried to pressure me into buying another massage. I don't think this was the way to win a repeat customer and I am even more disappointed that I never heard from the company again. read more

I went into the salon to buy a gift card for Christmas and purchased one, the front desk attendant said that their printer wasn't working and could not provide me a receipt. I thought about this for a minute and decided that I did not want the gift card and to please refund my money. They said that they were already submitted to my debit card I would have to file a refund and of course their printer wasn't working and I could not get a receipt of that. After Christmas I decided to file a complaint with my bank and my bank has since credit my account. I will never do business with massage envy in Chandler Boulevard in Chandler Arizona. Massage envy was not helpful at all and trying to even assure me that I would be refunded by them and made no attempt to correct this problem. read more

My wife Darcy has been having issues with headaches and a knot in her neck for about 3 weeks now. We have tried a variety of things but wanted to try a massage to help. On 5/6/2022 I called to schedule an appointment for the following day and was able to schedule one for 4:00pm. I gave extremely clear instructions that this was my spouse coming into the location, provided her name, and even had to spell it a couple times for the person on the phone. I was then given a confirmation of the appointment same day and in the morning of 5/7/2022 was provided an additional confirmation to which this was confirmed. My wife (day before Mother's Day) goes into the Chandler location 15 minutes before the appointment at 3:45pm. She was then "checked in" and escorted to the waiting area. By 4:15pm no one had gotten her, and she went out to talk with a "customer service" person to inquire about her appointment. At that time the person informed her that her appointment was scheduled for 4:30pm and not 4:00pm. However, we then later found out that the person who told her this information was the massage "therapist" that was scheduled for her 4:00pm appointment. She then retreats back to the room and then again comes out to inquire at 4:37pm. At which time she is then informed that not only was she checked in incorrectly, but the "therapist" whom she spoke to about the appointment had left for the evening. For her troubles, the "customer service" person then offers to SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR HER ON THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY. Zero concern for the HOUR she had wasted sitting there. Zero concern for the actual issues that my spouse was experiencing. In addition, she felt that CHARGING HER FULL COST FOR THE APPOINTMENT A WEEK OUT was enough. After learning about this, I called into the location to inquire about what occurred and was promptly told that it was basically my wife's fault. I listed the issues: 1. She was checked in wrong. 2. No one bothered to review or ask her name. 3. The massage "therapist" that was supposed to work on her literally lied to her face and then left while leaving her stranded in the waiting room. She left in tears not understanding what the hell happened. The "customer service" person double downed on blaming my wife for the situation. Needless to say, Massage Envy could give us a lifetime of free massages and we would NEVER walk into another location ever again. You would think after the Pandemic that customer service would be a priority, but not to Massage envy. RUN AT ALL COST AND NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. PERIOD! read more

A couple months ago I went and had a pre natal massage. While the massage was great there were some things that left me upset and not willing to pay to to go back to the business again. After my review the manager reached out to me to offer another massage just because I was so unhappy. While I wasn't able to use the massage he offered he tried his hardest to make up the experience that I had. That says a lot about about the business and I was really grateful that he did so much to make a hormonal nut happy I was finally able to make time in my schedule and go get my massage and all I can say is DEAR LORD!! I walked in today for my appointment 6pm 12/14/21 for my prenatal massage to find out that they booked me with a therapist who is not certified for prenatal massage at this location. Mind you I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been going to massage envy for the past seven months. They knew how far along I was but decided to tell me when I showed up for the appointment that I had to reschedule due to my therapist not being certifed. They couldn't even book me in at a different and said i received a "free session" which i technically already have because of my membership. Absolutely terrible customer service from the manager and terrible communication from the front desk workers. Beyond disappointed and any women knows how badly your body can hurt at this point in pregnancy and being turned away because they can't schedule the right therapist is ridiculous. I have been a member for several years. Recently every appointment I have made has been a disappointment. Either my appointment gets canceled when I show up because the therapist called out or they overbook Or I ask for a male therapist and get a female. There is always a reason for their mistake. Every month they charge and that doesn't get messed up. They're sure they get their money. My fee has gone up 3 different times over the last few years. For several months I was not able to go and so I saved my massages And then tried to use them or give them to friends and they charge me to give my massage to a friend. I froze my account which used to be Free and now it's $20 to freeze your account. The massages and facials are mediocre at best. Most of the time it is poor service And the people at the desk can be very rude at times. I do not recommend massage envy to anyone. It is not worth the money. read more

Very unhappy with this location. My 18 year old son occasionally wants a massage as he has a very physical job. His first experience here was when he was 17. They sold him into the massage club. This was some time ago so I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was an isolated incident. He went today and they tried to schedule him for multiple massage telling him if he didn't the price was going up. Very aggressive and insensitive to their customers needs. My son works hard and wanted to relax. Instead,their tactics added to his stress level! Never again! read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy for about 10 years and have been extremely happy with their services. I was grandfathered in at a price that I have had taken out of my account each month. Without notice, the price increase substantially. When I called, I was told that I probably received a phone call, which I didn't, or an email. When I asked what email they had on file, they said I didn't have one. I don't understand how a company can just change the amount they charge you for services that were agreed upon. I will used up my credits, but will discontinue my membership after I have finished with the credits. This is wrong. read more

To start off, my boyfriend usually surprises me with scheduled massages because my back is always hurting. He booked a 60 min massage in December 2019 and surprised me with a membership. The representative that help him stated that she would give him a complimentary 60 min massage as well for signing me up. You would think, this wouldn't be an issue, right? January came along, I called in for an appointment and they were not able to locate my name. Sure, I thought I was just new to the system and maybe it took a couple weeks or whatever to activate. I called again towards the end of the month, this representative was able to find my name and I spoke to her regarding a complimentary massage for my boyfriend as well. At first, she wasn't able to find it and then she did some more digging and was able to find the note but she said it was not under the "vouchers" section, it was in a very weird spot. I told her that I would see what time works for the both of us and call back! I was so happy she was able to find the complimentary massage. Due to our schedules, we were unable to reach back out to book one for January. So, February comes and I get a message stating I needed to update payment information. That's fine. I called in to see if there were openings and stated that I was aware of the payment issue. We spoke about availability and I said I would only book if you guys were able to find that "complimentary 60 min massage" that was mentioned...she said she could not find it. It is frustrating because why is it that one representative could find it and one can't. She would put me on hold...I assumed she probably spoke to someone higher. Then she said that the lead was unable to find what I was talking about. I asked to speak to the lead. RIGHT WHEN SHE GOT ON THE PHONE, SHE DIDN'T LET ME TALK AT ALL. She went on and on about not being able to find what I was talking about. It's irritating because she didn't even give me a chance to explain in the beginning. Talked about how this was over confusion. UM NO. I WAS NOT CONFUSED. I disconnected the line. Next day comes, someone from the office calls both of our phones. Reached my boyfriend and said that we missed our appointments. Said that I had confirmed two appointments. UM, NO I DIDN'T. Then, they said that they were going to charge a CANCELLATION FEE. Okay, charging a client that did not confirm... If you are looking for a place that cares, do not come here. They charge their clients for their representative's wrongdoing. I have been going to him for over 10 years and have never had a bad Massage. I frequently recommend him to others (though I hate adding to his already packed schedule!!) Great and simple for a decent massage. However, every time I had a woman massage me I was dissapointed. The male's were awesome however, and not just because they were cute! They gave great deep tissue massages strong enough to make you cry. (In a good way!) Very soothing atmosphere, and private rooms. I went to this location with a gift card that I received for my birthday. The massage itself was great and my LMT (Yee) did a wonderful job. I am dissatisfied with the service however. It seemed like as soon as I was done with the massage and was in a nice state of relaxation, the front desk associate was trying to pressure me into signing a contract for a monthly membership. When I explained that $50+ a month for massages was not in my budget (I am student & working part-time), she seemed to disregard it and had scripted rebuttals to try to change my mind. Granted, they did get me in at the last minute (I made the appointment 2 hours before) but the massage started a bit late so I ended up with just under 45 minutes of my 1-hour massage. I know they normally stop at 50 minutes anyway, but for the price they charge they should at least make sure you get the full 50. I am very impressed with Massage Envy. They are almost always able to accommodate my appointment requests the same day or next day and they inquire about the type of massage. They make sure to tailor your therapist to your needs (for example, a medium level massage versus deep tissue.) The membership is great and you get excellent care from the therapists. They note problem areas in your file and make recommendations for your next appointment. The front desk staff are always friendly and they are incredibly professional and consistent. I am a huge fan of the therapist, Rachel. She does a great job! I'm seeing another therapist this evening, Amanda, but my standard appointments are with Rachel. :) read more
