As both of my regular therapists were unavailable yesterday, I asked for a recommendation. I prefer more deep tissue work and the front desk recommended Jeffrey. I had a session with him and he did an excellent job. His technique is different than what I'm used to but it was very effective. I felt 100% better afterwards. The corporate service people won't return my call or messages! I am very disappointed as they have not honored the credits I have accumulated! They now say they have expired! My local branch closed and all of my credits were taken away. The branch managers can't seem to help me. I would stay away from this subscription service and just pay by the massage if I were you! One of the branch managers emailed customer service corporate with my complaint two weeks ago and corporate didn't respond the me even with their help! I've been coming here Every.. Single.. Week for more than 10 years(!!) just to see Zoya (aka THE miracle worker, God's hand, Massage Envy's best kept secret.. etc). If it weren't for Zoya, I would still be experiencing horrible shoulder and neck pain that no other therapist could have fixed. The pain was so bad at one point that I couldn't even turn my head to check my blind spot when I drove (no kidding) until Zoya fixed it. And don't let her tiny stature fool you. She has sooo much knowledge of the human body and meticulous technique that she should have been named a national treasure in the field of massage therapy. She specializes in trigger point therapy, but she also gives the best relaxation massage that make all those ridiculously expensive spa massages pale in comparison. Do not come here for a prenatal massage. My experience was uncomfortable and I couldn't relax the entire time. I don't trust my masseuse was actually trained properly, he was awkward with hand placements, positioning, draping, and didn't seem to utilize time properly. He completely disregarded my arms, feet, and part of my legs. At the end he said next time I should book longer than 50 minutes so it can actually be a full body massage, which is bs because he should've been able to do it all as that's what is sold. read more

I called to make an appointment at this location. The lady who answered the phone has no customer service skills. She was sarcastic, rude, and dismissive. I explained that I wanted an appointment today, she laughed and repeated "TODAY"?? WTH? If you don't have an availability just let me know. She then put me on hold and came back with "OK, I can squeeze you in at four." Attitdue and rudeness exuding in her voice the entire time. I explained to her that I received a gift card for one and a half hours of massage. I have never been to this spa before... Ani, the rude receptionist, replies with " so you've never had a massage in your life before? " No, that's not what I said. This continues for a few minutes. The challenge to explain things to this girl as at maximum level. Ani then asks for my credit card over the phone to hold my appointment. She says the policy is I need to give a 24 hour advance notice to cancel my appointment or there will be a charge, so therefore she needs my credit card information on file. A difficult task, but I try to explain to this dense receptionist that (1) I received a gift card for this spa (can give the gift card barcode number) (2) I don't have 24 hours to cancel, my appointment is for today (3) I'm not comfortable giving out my credit card information to you over the phone. Ani refuses to hold my appointment. I ask to speak to a manger. She replies "we don't have one available" and refuses to transfer my call. Unbelievable!!!! So I called another location, La Canada. What a difference in customer service! Night and day! The receptionist was extremely nice and kind. She booked my appointment for the same day, explained what to expect, whom I'm scheduled with, what time I should arrive and did not ask for a credit card on file! The Glendale location needs to invest in some serious training for their staff or they'll be out of business in that location with the attitude they've hired to answer their phones. read more

Well, I want to start out by saying that I have been a member of Massage Envy for years. I want to be fair so I have to say that when things were good they were very good, but t I've always said, you can tall someone's true nature when things get a bit difficult...and apparently this adage works for relationships with businesses also. And, at the end of this relationship with Massage Envy I'm leaving feeling somewhat exploited and foolish for not reading and memorizing all the fine print in the contract. THE GOOD: I'm very much a massage enthusiast and I have had extremely expensive massages, massages by a person who used to work with the L.A. Kings as their massage therapist, and all sorts of other experiences. I have to say that some (but not all) of the therapists at this Massage Envy are every bit as good, if not better, than some of the high end work that was done. THE BAD: Okay, now down to why I'm canceling my membership. Over the past year I haven't been getting in regularly for my treatments so I have accrued a number of service credits. I came up with a brilliant idea, I'll treat my friends and convert some of my credits into gift cards. I mean, earlier this year I treated a friend and they just charged me $15 for the conversion. Okay, if I go back to this instance I'm was a bit annoyed and confused because you'd thing Massage Envy would be THRILLED that I was using one of my credits to introduce someone to their spa. If I remember properly, my friend ended up joining! So I can't really figure out why they would discourage their members from using their credits to share with a friend....but , whatever, I can deal with it. Yesterday I went in to get some credits converted to gift cards (mind you, I've PAID for these services but I just haven't used them). I was told that this could not be done. I can only gift one massage per month, and it can't be done as a gift, the person just has to go with me. It annoyed me, again I think it's a lame policy both from a customer/member service and from marketing level. I was annoyed enough that I decided to cancel my membership,which up until that moment I had no intention of canceling because a) I do enjoy my services and b) I assumed that whatever I wasn't using made great gifts for others. There's a very good chance that if this was the only problem once I cooled off a bit I probably never would have sent in the cancellation forms BUT.... Well, luckily I asked what happened to my massage credits if I cancelled my membership (I have 12 credits), and they told me that I would LOSE THEM!!! Now mind you, I have PAID for these credits. So, if I don't want to lose what I have already paid for I need to us them up, and use them up quickly...before I accrue more credits!!!! Honestly I think this is a completely chicken sh*t policy. They claim that it was written in my initial contract so I supposedI'll have to live with it, but I still think it's crappy to take away what someone has already paid for. So if you're a member just keep this in mind if you ever want to cancel. Oh, and after several years of membership, when things went a little sideways nobody ever tried to smooth it over, bothered to lie and say something like, "I'm so sorry, I see why you're upset, I wish I could do it for you but...." but nobody did. Not to mention that I requested that a cancellation form and a copy of my contract be emailed to me. She said it might take 24 hours...It's 36 hours later and I just had to call and make the request again. So, in the beginning when they're taking your money everything is great, but their policies are not particularly user friendly and their customer service, when you aren't handing over money, pretty well sucks. I'd rather pay a little bit more per massage somewhere else because at this point I feel as if all that fine print in the contract is all about screwing the customer, and I don't like feeling as if I've been being exploited in a long term relationship read more

The only reason why I am not giving this location 1 star is because there are two wonderful masseuses there: Jilbert for deep tissue and Christian for relaxation. Unfortunately, I will no longer be recommending Massage Envy to anyone. I joined for a one year membership and had pretty good service most of the time. However, when I canceled my membership after the year was up I was still being charged monthly membership dues for several more months. I called and spoke with Katharine G. who advised me I had two more massages and was also entitled to a $108 credit for an additional two months I had been incorrectly charged. I came in for my two hour massage with Jilbert at the end of April and thought all had been worked out. Giving them over six weeks to process my refund, I still had not received my credit as of this morning. I called to speak with Katharine but she was not in and I spoke with Diana instead. She put me on hold for several minutes while she looked into the situation. Then I was disconnected on their end. (I hate to say "hung up on" but I guess I was) I waited a full minute to see if Diana had the wits to call me back. She did not. I called back and Diana informed me that she did not want to get involved and would have Katharine call me. When I asked what time Katharine would be in today, Diana informed me Katharine only works Thursdays through the weekend. "What's another 4 days after the 2 months I've already waited?" you ask. Rent, that's what! I don't know about you, but in these tough economic times I do not have the disposable cash to let some corporate chain hang on to my hard-earned money while I'm stressing about how I'm going to keep a roof over my head or my diabetic dog in insulin for the next month. I asked Diana if there was a manager I could speak with and she said there were none on duty and did not offer any information as to when a manager would be available or even a name of a manager I could share my grievances with. Sorry about the novel, but I am reviewing this place negatively and telling my story as a last resort because I think the way they handled customer service in this instance is far beyond laughable, it's insulting. Diana wished me a great rest of the day. I didn't think it was sincere, but after writing this review and finally relaying this situation to someone it might matter to (you), I do feel better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Katharine will call me back on Thursday and that this situation will be resolved to my satisfaction before the end of July. A few reasons why I did not like this place: 1- People at the front desk were not very welcoming. Not a good thing. I felt like I was being pressured to become a member. 2- They deducted 10 minutes from the 1 hour massage that I purchased because apparently they charge people for changing their clothes. That's just silly. First of all, it doesn't take me 10 minutes to change. Second I certainly do that want to pay to change out of my clothes. 3- I was not satisfied with my massage. This review is about the front office staff that handles checkin/checkout and scheduling: YOU PEOPLE SUCK! After four separate phone calls, my appointment was still not booked correctly. They have had a lot of turn around with this front office staff, and there seems to be no consistency with their service. This is a reflection of poor management and equally poor training of their staff. Listen up owners: you will lose customers if you continue to have bad front office staff. Massage Envy is horrible. They're only concerned with up selling and not your actual treatment. AND they are waaaaay over-priced! $98 for a 1-hour massage...I'd rather enjoy it at Burke Williams instead. if you live in LA, ping me for better places to get a massage. I'm not sure how they think they can charge so much for massages. I called them this morning and it was also upsetting to hear from the receptionist that a 30 minute massage is more like a 20 minute massage....and a 60 minute massage is more like 45 minute massage. I get tons of massages all over the place and have never been told that. WARNING RIPOFF!!! - DOES NOT HONOR MASSAGE GIFT CARDS! PLS READ If you or a friend are thinking about purchasing a gift card here - please don't. The company will sell you a gift card based on the "massage time" you ask for and charge you (i.e. one hour, 1.5 hours, etc) When you or a friend reveals the gift card and requests the "massage time" you paid for - they'll state that the gift card has a "money value" and that you will need to pay the difference in cost. This has happened to me TWICE!! I was given gift cards for: 1 hour massage - when I revealed my gift card at my appointment - I was told that I have to pay the difference!!! And to add insult to injury the purchase of gift card included 18% gratuity so that I didn't have to worry about it. I ended up paying $48.00 1.5 hour massage - given to me as a Maid of Honor. Same crap happened! Massage Envy did not honor the gift card and stated that it has a "money value" not massage time value - they asked for another $78.00 cost of difference! Both parties who purchased the gift cards were unaware of this and thought that they had purchased the "massage time". This is for ALL Massage Envy Franchise - AVOID IT. They only cared about my updated credit card information so they could draft money from my account. You are a charge card, not a customer. Therefore, I will shamelessly share my opinion with YOU, and hope that you don't fall into this trap. Joining Massage Envy is a VERY BAD decision!! This company offers killer deals and Groupons to lure you in, and once you get there they let you know that you must join as a member to get all the "benefits". I wish I had followed my intuition and never signed up. I hated the customer service, always waited on hold, was FORCED to remain under contract for a year (the only way out is with a Doctor's note), shuffled around to different estheticians and therapists, and when I finally did cancel they took my last payment, but did NOT give me my last massage! They haven't kept their word when I have discussed payment schedules or issues that arose, or requests to cancel. True, you can get a good Murad facial or a decent massage there with some of the very skilled therapists. BUT there are a hundred other places you can go that aren't as loud, busy, and distasteful as Massage Envy. I highly recommend you avoid joining this sham of a service, and GO SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE with the Thai ladies in your local strip mall, or save a tiny bit more and spend the whole day lounging at Burke Williams or Glen Ivy where the only thing they try to sell you is some bath salts or lunch. read more

My appointment was scheduled for today , after confirming two text messages they sent me earlier today , I received a call 30 min before my appointment to let me know the therapist that was assigned to me didn't come to work today . They offered me a different therapist who specializes in "firm" even though I requested "medium " , I was told that the therapist could possibly do medium , and go softer , but he usually does firm . Ridiculous and unprofessional. I was able to make a same day appointment for the Pasadena location the very same day , who were very accommodating to my needs . Will never go to the Glendale location! Also the receptionist assured me that I would not be charged for this appointment, well obviously! When I walked out the door, I really was disgusted with how they tried to force a contract on me. I would have given 1 star honestly but the massage was ok so that deserves the second star. I was here one weekday for a massage hoping to have a nice relaxing afternoon. I went in, did the survey and after 6min or so, the masseuse came in to take me to the private room. The massage lasted for about an hour of rubbing lotions and not much pressure. When it was time to pay, I expected them to ask if I would want to join their membership. I mean what massage place doesn't right? But not to the extent that they did....it was sick. 1st time: He asked me "would you like to join our membership?" I politely declined. 2nd time: The guy started showing me a flyer with a new location. I declined. 3rd time: Then he asked "why?" I said because I'm not interested. 4th time: Then the guys said "but why, this is a good deal." I declined again. 5th time: He says "give me a good reason why you don't want to join." I didn't want to argue so I said please give me the bill. ***You think he gave up? NO.*** 6th time: He then said "you are not being reasonable." I just said here is my credit card, please process it. He gave me this annoyed look and processed my card. He said something like we look forward to seeing you again.....YEAH RIGHT. I guess massage envy is a franchise operation, so quality can vary between locations. I normally get massages in Northern California and have not had any issues until going to the one in Southern California. I had a masseuse named Christian. She did seem very nice and professional, to her credit. So were the folks at the front desk. Here's where things went wrong: 1. I asked for a Swedish massage, had a 10 minute discussion in the waiting room about wanting a relaxation / Swedish massage, and put this information on my questionnaire. Does punching someone in the back sound like a Swedish massage to you? If I wanted deep tissue, I would have requested it. 2. I walked out looking like Joe Dirt. It sounds kind of funny, in retrospect, but really it wasn't. It felt like someone took a bottle of olive oil and poured it on my hair. I felt like I had taken a serious bath in butter and then oil wrestled for at least an hour. It took me 3 showers to get the oil off of my skin. Yuck! 3. Someone actually walked into the room as I was getting massaged. I've never had that happen before. My recommendation is to pass, and try another location. read more

I really hate complaining but the lack of communication and compassion by the people at the front desk left me feeling angry and beyond disrespected. I pay $80 a month and hardly use my credits. I had to schedule about a month in advance to be able to schedule a massage at the same time as my boyfriend. (Not at all an issue) I scheduled us both a 90 minute session. The lady I spoke with initially was kind and explained there would be a $10 transfer fee and they don't typically allow you to transfer 2 credits at once, which would be needed for the 90 minute session I was transferring to my boyfriend, but they would allow it this one time as a courtesy and I wouldn't need to pay the difference this time, but next time I would. No problem. Anyway, that was not the case when I got there and they wanted me to pay the difference. I paid the $10 transfer but not the difference. I tried explaining the conversation I had on the phone and because that wasn't noted in whatever system, I was wrong, shunned and frankly treated like garbage. My boundaries were crossed and when I asked for the managers number the front desk lady implied I was trying to get the managers personal number, which would never be the case. My therapist was amazing but I don't want to ever give this location my money, time or presence ever again. They were way more focused on being correct than understanding or being open to listening to the entire situation before being aggressive and frankly extremely rude. The opposite of what you'd want or expect from a facility that is trying to provide a service of unwinding and relaxation. If I was wrong I would never know because they weren't even willing to explain or answer any questions I had. I left without paying the $28 and I will be speaking with any manager possible to hopefully have them explain what customer service even is to these young minded disrespectful employees at the front desk. It's not even the $28, it's the fact that I felt lied to and then was accused of being the liar.... Is that not gaslighting? If I don't accept it from my momma, im not accepting or feeling guilty for not accepting it from a damn front desk employee. The therapists are amazing. Front desk, not so much. ***BEWARE*** The day I called to book my appointment the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We set up my appointment but she called me back 15 minutes later to ask for my credit card number "in order to book the appointment". I found that rather unusual for a massage place but gave it anyway because I had every intention of getting a massage. I was assured nothing would be charged until after it was done and was TOLD NOTHING ELSE like what would happen if I didn't show or was late. I wasn't told about having to fill out any forms either. My appointment was at 6 but I arrived 10 minutes late because the place was hard to find parking for. When I arrived I was told that since "the session had already started" I would only get the time left and not the full hour. By now it was it was already 615 because they had me fill out forms which I should have been told about when I explained earlier it was first time there. So I said well I'm not paying for the full hour. Their response was basically "oh well". I asked them not to charge my card and they insisted that they "had to". Which was ridiculous since I received no services. I was given the option to reschedule so I could get the full hour. At this point I felt strong armed and tricked into HAVING to get a massage there. I booked the appointment for the next day. I called them at 8 in the morning to cancel my appointment and was told that cancellation policy was to charge 50%!!!!! Of the service for cancellation. I WAS LIVID!! At the time I was standing in front of them booking my appointment they mentioned NOTHING about a cancellation policy and ridiculous charges! Now they were holding my card hostage and basically strong armed me into GIVING them my money!!! This facility wants to be high end but does not know how to carry out business practices as such. I paid $25 for services I never received. I felt punished for breaking rules I was never told about! Well, Massage Envy can have MY $25 to lose my business and that of everyone I know. It's very very simple everyone. $49 for a one hour massage is a great deal!! Of course, this is only offered to NEW customers. Also, if ya show up late to your appointment, too bad. The clock starts tickin as soon as your appointment time rolls around and really it is a 55 minute massage with 5 minutes to get dressed and out the door. I have TMJ and get migraines so one day at home while in excruciating pain I remembered this great massage deal and headed into the Glendale location where I got a fantastic massage from, I believe her name was Jennifer. I explained my jaw pain and she gave me a great massage with cranial sacral therapy. The really cheesy part about Massage Envy is how incredibly corporate and cheap it is. My appointment was at 5pm and I showed up at about 5:01pm. I was greeted by a receptionist who had me fill out a few pages of paperwork and then showed me to a waiting room, by the time I got into the massage room and on the table it was around 5:15, and my massage only went until 5:55 with 5 minutes to get dressed and "don't let the door hit you in the ass". I recently called to check out what a regularly-priced hour massage would be as someone got me a gift card and it's $98!! You can get a massage at a much nicer, less cheesy spa like Ra Organic Spa, or the Raven Spa for that price and actually feel welcome and not rushed. This is the kind of company where you just have to play the game. Just get your FIRST $50 buck massage, arrive 20 minutes early so that you're on that table before your appointment time, and NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! read more

I originally signed up at eh La Verne location with a friend, but Glendale is closer to me and right by Porto's... so I made an appointment. Yikes! Maybe I was spoiled by the La Verne facility... but the "quiet" room was so bright and unrelaxing. It wasn't much different from the front desk area. The ladies at the front desk were in deed un-professional, as others have mentioned. They were joking around and giggling with each other in front of customers. I'm not saying you shouldn't have a good time at work, but when you've got several customers waiting, you should be more professional. Save the goofy, inside jokes for after work or when there are no customers around! As for the massage itself - I was very disappointed that the form I filled out, (since it was my first time there), detailing where I would like the most work done and the areas I would like to avoid, was ignored! The masseuse was looking at my forms and she asked me where I needed the most work. I told her, I have a lot of wrist/hand/arm pain and upper back pain and that I wanted light to medium pressure and no lower body work. After writing it on the forms and specifically tell her verbally... she still massaged my legs and feet! She barely spent any time on my arms and proceeded to roughly massage my back and shoulders. I heard my muscles making a crunching noise? And she used a whole bunch of oil and she did my face last so I felt so greasy and bruised afterward. It was not relaxing at all! read more

First time because the masseuse was unable to apply the level of firmness that was agreed to which I did not have a problem with and went home. She is a member, I am not - we went to use up the rest of her membership 'free' massages so I got one myself. They were way more interested in talking to me (about becoming a member) than my partner who already is one --- hum. My massage was awful. I wrote down I had soreness with my lower back & he didn't even touch my lower back. All I kept thinking was the therapist was so concerned about lawsuit they are afraid to ACTUALLY give you a massage! Additionally upon our departure/check out - they were pressuring me to be a member, we explained my partner is ENDING her membership --- the clerk also had horrific hickey's on her neck she was trying to cover with a scarf...so unprofessional and gross. read more

Wow- for a place that's supposed to make you feel relaxed they sure try their damned hardest to stress you out as much as possible! First of all: they are rip off merchants who try to force membership on you no matter what - their holiday giftcard offer is nothing short of a scam - you buy but you can not actually use in the way that you want- you need to become a member in order to be able to use the giftcard- or they slap an expiration date on the offer. What kind of bullshit is that?! Once I got past this initial shock I can't say that things improved a great deal from there either. Two massages and one facial later (covered by my giftcard) I am left wondering how on earth this place survives, and my only explanation is that for most people, despite its crappiness, if they are desperate for a massage, I guess it's a more affordable alternative to better quality and more expensive places. My first massage was completely lame. The lady, either so feeble or so uninterested, that all she did was just shift the oils around from one part of my body to the next. No pressure - no real effort of any kind. By the time she got to my hands the weird slimy strokes were becoming kind of gross and creepy and I couldn't wait to get out of there. The second massage was with a new person and I thought great - salvation! This one, however, could well have been a member of Hitler youth and attacked me with such brute force that I imagined she was literally leaving gaping holes in my back - I seriously considered filing a police report! Okay, not really, but turns out she had resorted to using her elbows (which I hate) when I had asked for additional pressure. So again, an unhappy experience. Finally the facial. It started off pleasantly enough. The young girl was very complimentary about my haircut - which was sweet, though her "you look like you could be a celebrity" line just made me want to roll my eyes. Throughout the session she kept going on and on about how wonderful my skin was and how she was bowled over by my apparent all round beauty. Though at first it was nice to hear - it soon became overkill and I nearly responded: look love, if I was really as hot as you say, I would be a supermodel and not stuck in this hellhole with you right now! The facial was actually decent - but at the very end the reason for the endless flattery suddenly became clear - she had tried to put me in a good mood so she could get me to buy the insanely priced face cream! I unfortunately also was talked into getting a membership but mine was only for 6 months. The girls at the front desk are basically pushy sales people and one of the girls who was trying to sell me the membership was so confusing because she didn't explain that you can't cancel the membership and when I asked if there was a fee if I did cancel, she said "why would you want to do that?" Ummm ... that's my business. The girls were really irritating. The massage was alright but I will agree with the other two reviews that the therapist was a beginner. She did a good job on my shoulders but when the girl got to my lower back, she did a number on my kidneys. My kidneys were sore for the next two days. I have only been to one other massage place and I would rather go back to Burke-Williams and pay the money for that than go back to Massage Envy. The only reason why this place gets the second star is because the quality of the facial I got was good. Otherwise, it would get a one. The sales staff is WAY TOO pushy. They ask too many questions and push too many products and services! This isn't something you should be unrelenting about. When someone declines, especially more than once, that should be enough. ok, i'm going to give little massage envy some props since its reviews haven't been the greatest. Yes, the 'membership' aspect of the place is a bit suspect, but when you break it down it's a good deal: $69 per month for a massage a month and $39 for any subsequent purchased massages that month. The 69.00 massage rolls over if you don't use it that month. For someone who literally needs a massage weekly (I bang my body up pretty good on a daily basis), it's a great value. Where else in LA can you get a 39.00 hour massage? Not even at beloved Pho Siam, my friends! That said, it's really important to actually be specific with the gals at the front desk about exactly what you need: deep tissue, swedish, reflexology, a gentle relaxing massage, etc. Every time I tell them what I need, they seem to fit me with the right therapist. And now that I've been there several times, I've got a little repertoire of therapists who are really outstanding: April, Verneice(sp?) and Shannon. If you need serious work, they're all great, intuitive and peaceful to be alone in a dark room with! read more

Tried out ME this evening. I'm not a massage regular, but I've done maybe 10 in my life. I'd have to rate this up there as possibly the best. The environment is definitely not spa-like. What they called a "quiet room" reminds me of the waiting room at my hair stylist... a couple chairs, couple magazines. The massage room itself was spartan --massage table, small table with massage lotion and hand sanitizer, chair, ipod and nothing else-- but clean and quiet. And I was in and out in just over an hour for a 50 min massage. It's definitely a "no fuss, no muss" kind of thing. I think a lot of people, myself included, will prefer it. The massage itself was great - possibly the best I've had (small sample size). I get that it's probably a crap-shoot given the low cost model, but if you can get Gabi -- my strong, Eastern European lady masseuse -- you should. One thing I liked was that the lotion they used was not very oily, so there was no need to shower afterwards (which is good, since they don't seem to provide any such facility). That adds to the "no fuss" experience. Actually, that's probably the "no muss" part. I think they recently raised their prices. The massage is $98 for 50 min for non-members, which definitely takes it way out of the low-cost realm if you don't buy the membership (I paid $49 since it was my "introductory" massage"). They seem to have done this to pimp their membership which works out 6 or 12 massages at $49 each plus more if you want them. By having the non-member price at $98, the membership is *half price*, what a deal! Anyway, they're clearly not trying to sell many non-member massages. Overall, I'm rating it 5 stars based on my single experience because it was probably the best massage experience I've had. Low cost, easy, not intimidating, good strong massage. I have not yet decided whether to buy a membership. I'll probably go back one more time before deciding whether I want to get a massage every month. read more

The place is nice and the staff are fine. But when your time is up to end the contract, they are very unhealthful and worse than any Gym. I have tried to end the contract after the terms expired for 3 months and they still charge me every month. Just a word of warning, that once you are a member, you can never leave. read more

One day I was in the area and driving by and decided to stop to see by the off chance if they had any available appointments for that day. Luckily they had a cancellation and I was able to be squeezed in. Diana worked on me and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. AVOID! I've had 2 bad experiences here! The front desk staff is so completely incompetent! I called and made an appointment over the phone. I spelled out my first and last name for them. When I got there for my appointment, they couldn't find me. They "found" me and gave me paperwork to fill out while I waited in the waiting room. I filled out the paperwork which included my first and last name spelled out very clearly. I returned the paperwork to the front desk and I waited. People came and went and I was still waiting. 15 minutes after my scheduled appt time, I went to get up to investigate when a therapist asked if i had a 8pm appt. He apologized as he was calling out the WRONG name the entire time! He was calling a name that wasn't even close to mine! I was so annoyed. The massage was fine. No real complaints there except he didn't compensate me for the lost time! But then I had to check out and pay. To make a long story short. The girl at the front desk charged my massage to someone else's account! As not to punish the place for poor front desk help, I actually went back a second time. Well, they were awful AGAIN! The massage was ok but then then they messed up my pre-paid account again! I will not be going back to this location ever again! Too stressful and counterproductive. read more

I'm a member here, and I often forget to come in for my monthly massage, so every once in a while I'll call to check how many credits I have available. Today I called: SEVEN CREDITS. Sometimes, when I have a ton of extra credits, I'll transfer a credit to a friend or my boyfriend so they can come with me for a lovely treat. Today, I transferred one to a friend who's been having a rough time, and decided to use several credits towards a two hour massage for myself, to be scheduled for 3 hours after I placed the call. BEST. DECISION. EVER. They said they only had a few massage therapists open so last minute, so they put me with Jilbert, a lovely gent with an accent I couldn't quite place. Let me tell you- I'll never use a different massage therapist there. I've been here a bunch of times, and all of my experiences have been lovely, pleasant. I left today and I feel like I've just gotten back from another planet. Jilbert has magical hands and transports you into another dimension with them. I lived a whole mini-life in those two hours. Two hours felt like two weeks. I conquered armies and waved to the commoners while being transported down the cobblestone square in a golden chariot led by 6 white stallions, adorned with matching golden headdresses and leads. I was a goddess in Ancient Greece and was treated like any goddess should be- like absolute royalty. I've been sitting in my car to write this so I won't forget (like I could ever forget!), and it occurred to me that maneuvering the glendale traffic is probably going to hurt after that. Or...maybe it won't! Perhaps I'll tell the commoners to move aside. Wish me luck. I wholeheartedly suggest you go here, get a two hour massage, and have Jilbert turn you into an Egyptian Pharaoh or something. Luxury redefined. read more

Pros: Ani and Gabi are highly recommended. They are both attentive to trouble areas and both offer different techniques. I only ask for these two ladies whenever I have an appointment. Cons: The walls are thin, so you can hear people passing by throughout your massage. If you want a super quiet spa-like ambiance, then I suggest you go elsewhere. Out of all the Massage Envy places I have visited, this must be the very worst! A few months back, I decided to use my 2 hour massage credit so I booked a back to back 1 hour massage. The first one was deep tissue and the next one was a Swedish Massage. Let's just say my deep tissue massage made me feel like I was a piece of meat on a butcher's table and my swedish massage was like a talk show in the room. The guy talked way too much and asked me too many questions and to make matters worst, I couldn't understand his accent. Mannn that was horrible. So after my massage I was looking forward for one of the attendants at the counter to ask me how my massage was and to my surprise none of the 3 people that were working at the front asked me how it was! I was heated! So I decided to fill out the comment card and trust me it wasn't pretty! read more

Based on a bunch of yelp reviews, it seems like the front desk communication could be a lot better and the way they run things in front does seam a little odd and awkward. I feel lie they pressure you a lot to sign up for new things or make your next appointment because they have to. My problem with That is, I really don't want to be pressured to think about much after I've just finished my massage. HOWEVER As a member I've had sessions with may of their massage therapists and although there were some I didn't like, I do really enjoy Christians style. She's firm and attentive and definitely has a relaxing vibe about her. If I have any questions or concerns she answers them knowledgeably. I definitely recommend asking for Christian, although I hate to because it might be harder for me to get a session with her now! read more

Anthony knows his stuff! I'm a regular jogger and pulled a hamstring muscle...not good! Anthony gave me a deep tissue massage with extra heat therapy on the area. Now, 3 days later, not 100% but MUCH better. Nice, clean environment and Sienna and Marina on the front desk were welcoming and friendly. read more

I've been a member for over a year and I've referred a friend to them too. From what I've read in a few places, seems like getting out is problematic. I hope it isn't the case should that ever happen. I was caught off guard tonight when I found out that I had to pay extra for my hour and a half session, actually for the extra half hour. I was told that they couldn't split my credit and can only be used hourly. So why did they suggest an extra half hour after mentioning my credit? Very deceptive and I don't think I'm the right person to be arguing with. I was told that I could get an "upgrade" and I asked a few times what is that, if I were to make 3 appointments ahead of time. That upgrade would be an extra 30 mins? Extra hour? I don't recall, but I thought that when I booked it in advanced, the front desk already gave me that extra 30mins. or so on my last appointment session. To my surprise when he printed it out, it wasn't on there. So i just called, and that was taken care of. I still think though however, that i'm checked out of my time. Seems like I don't get an actual 60 mins. or like today, my time with my therapist lasted less than 90mins, although I was there 10mins. before my scheduled time and waited patiently for 20mins. Would be nice if we could be compensated given that we're members here. Or maybe I just think I deserve it because I referred only ONE friend who became a member? read more

I want to make it clear that I'm reviewing the staff at this location and not the corporate side of Massage Envy. The front desk staff is always helpful and very friendly, which is greatly appreciated. However, the main reason that I keep going back to this location is Christian, the therapist that I've been going to the last 6 months or so. Christian was referred to in some other reviews as great for relaxation massage. However, if asked, she also does very effective deep tissue work, especially upper body (back and shoulders). She is also very personable with a very soft nature. So, ignore Massage Envy and all the hype and up-selling. Go to this location for the friendly staff and a great therapist in Christian. read more

I never write Yelp reviews, but I felt compelled to write this review because people are entitled to know this. The owner of this place needs a reality check. As a customer who has been coming to this location for a long time, I was charged for the 5 months they were closed for services I never received. I feel played and ripped off. Why charge me if I am not coming in for services then make me wait what feels like ages to get a refund AND give me a hard time about it? AVOID this place like the plague.
