First off, I'd like to say that Yelp.com remains the only platform that provides the best opportunity for the customer or client to air their grievances as well as post positive reviews about a business. Platforms like Google and Facebook reviews are geared towards protecting the interests of the business as mostly positive reviews are offered, while the few negative reviews are hidden in a sea of sugar-coated fluff or removed entirely when nobody is looking. I have been going to this Massage Envy for nearly 2 1/2 years. I was very happy with my massage therapist and looked forward to our sessions. On an evening in early February of this year, I arrived at Massage Envy for my 7:30 pm scheduled appointment. I waited in the dimly lit waiting area as usual until it came to be my time to be called in. As I looked up, a person exited that I clearly recognized as a potential danger to be avoided. The person that I chose not to have any contact with was at the front desk out of my view. Under no circumstances did I want this person to know I was coming to this Massage Envy. When I was summoned by the massage therapist, I discreetly motioned for him to come to me in the waiting room. I clearly told him I did not want this person to know that I was here. He told me that this will never happen again as we won't book you on the same day. I have had problems with the staff at the front desk regarding my appointments, I did not trust them to keep my appointments separate from this person. I do not know any information about this person other than complete avoidance is essential as I have seen this person become violent towards another individual without provocation at another business. At this very point in time, I knew I would never come back here again, as this was that serious a threat to me. The person stood at the reception desk for 20 to 25 minutes while I stood in the shadows and out of view. The massage therapist came to me and said when the person leaves, just come straight back. All this time, I worried that this person might walk back where I was. So finally, I went back there. The massage therapist knew I was traumatized and asked if I would be alright. I initially said yes. When he returned to begin my session, it was well past 30 minutes into my scheduled time. I found myself feeling very uncomfortable lying on the massage table that just moments ago this disturbed person was on. I just couldn't handle it and informed him that I had to leave. I got dressed, quietly left as the receptionist stood by the left of the door in a guarding position. She didn't say one word to me, and I said nothing to her. The next day I called Massage Envy in Highland, Indiana and asked for my refund, the receptionist claimed I was already on the massage table for like 12 minutes, but we'll see said. I also told her that I don't want my security breached; you have all my information. She said, "Are you threatening me?" I replied, "I don't threaten anybody" , "I know you're like a Teddy Bear", she says. "Well, when you left the other night, you were angry", she said. I replied, "I was not angry". None of these people that work at Massage Envy have a degree in psychology and therefore should not presume my mental state A couple days went by, and I received an email that stated I will be receiving a refund. I checked my account the next day and there's no refund. I called Massage Envy, and the receptionist said it would take a few days. A day later, I received an email from the manager stating that my membership is terminated. I then called her and she explained that I used a word to describe how I felt about the incident and that made the receptionist feel uncomfortable so I can no longer go to the Highland Massage Envy but can go to another Massage Envy. In essence, they kept $75 dollars of mine for services that were never rendered. All of this could have been avoided by a simple refund and a smile. "John, Your last payment towards your membership account in the amount of $75 has been refunded. Your Massage Envy membership with Highland is terminated effective 2/12/2024. Massage Envy management made this decision based on a comment you made directed toward a staff member. You can no longer receive any services at the Highland Massage Envy location. if you have any further questions, please contact me directly in clinic." It seems to me that in their eyes, that I cannot be concerned for my wellbeing or safety from a potentially unstable individual, yet the young female employee is bothered by a word I used to convey exactly how I felt. If this young generation is offended by words over the phone, they have no business working with the public in person. I threatened nobody here. At Massage Envy, we're supposed to walk on eggshells so as not to trigger staff members that cannot handle reality. In ten minutes these ladies destroyed the loyalty of a long established client. read more

After discussing my pain points, Edward got to work. He taught me exercises to help relieve the pain and tension. He then gave me the best massage of my life. I left feeling little to no pain. I have been going to Massage Envy in Highland, Indiana for nearly 4 years. I have not had one single problem. The location is very clean and everyone is very professional. I absolutely adore my massage therapist, Mariam. She is professional and definitely addresses any of my concerns. Those people that feel it is negative because they can't get in in a week. Need to understand that this is a very busy place. I book my massages one year out. Just because you can't get in after one phone call doesn't mean they deserve a negative review. I learned this very quickly and adapted. It's as simple as that. I would recommend this place and my massage therapist to anyone. If I could give them more than five stars, I would. read more

I absolutely adore my massage therapist. I am a Massage Envy member and get very good service at this location. Unfortunately I cannot give it a five-star due to the lack of cleanliness that I witnessed at my last appointment. We are in the midst of a pandemic and cleanliness is extremely important for everyone's health. When I went to the restroom I found a massive amount of dirt build-up and mold and mildew under the rim of the sink. Also around the door handle is sticky greasy grime that is not a good thing when people are repetitively touching the same areas. Seeing this filth in the restroom makes me wonder what other areas of the business are also this filthy? Are my sheets being washed properly that I lay on for my massage? Are the floors being mopped regularly for virus mitigation? Are the HVAC systems being cleaned regularly for clean air? As much as I want to give this business location in Highland, IN a five-star, I cannot with this filth. read more

I signed up for their membership due to back issues from a auto accident. The hour massage always starts late and finishes early not giving you the full 60 minute massage. The masseuse's that I've had are good (with the exception of shorting customers of their time), however the up front staff is VERY rude. I tried to get a billing issue resolved and spoke to TASIA. Tasia was very rude and spoke over me during the entire conversation. When I asked to speak to a manager Tasia said there wasn't a manager on the premises.....really on a Saturday? I've been a member since early 2016. I think the prices are fair, and I enjoy getting to have a little bit of "me" time now and then. The hardest part is finding the right therapist. I had a favorite when I joined and she left a few months later. I had to go through a handful of therapists and almost cancelled my membership when i finally found Marshae. She gives great massages, and she is also a great listener that truly cares for her clients. She has mastered the art of being able to tell when a client wants to talk or just wants a quiet massage. She is very intuitive in being able to find the sources of tension in my neck and back. She's always able to use just the right amount of pressure to loosen the knots of stress. Not only does my body feel less tense after a massage, but my spirit and mind feel renewed. She also seems like she remembers me at every visit too. Marshae has a true gift. She is the reason I have kept my membership the last 8 months. She is a natural at what she does and a true asset to Massage Envy. The other therapists weren't awful...they were just not my thing. A couple of them liked to talk way too much and I wasn't able to relax. Worst massage ever!! Got a rub down instead of a professional massage. My daughter can do a better job. Then I told the manager on site, Heather, that I did not enjoy the massage and she completely dismissed my complaint by asking me another question. It wasn't until I asked for her GM's info, when she asked what was the complaint about. "Ma'am I just told you and you ignored it". I've visited this location twice before and never had a complaint. Received a gift card from here and the experience was--meh! I wanted a one hour massage and the actual massage was only about 45 minutes. I was early too! They get you in the room a few minutes late and by the time you undress and are ready...a good 10 minutes have passed. Then, they tell you they're done with 5 minutes left to spare and tell you, ok get dressed. The massage was professional. I'll give them that. I don't know a whole lot about massages, I've only had a few, but I wished they would have massaged harder, it was like a relaxation massage and I would have preferred deep tissue. Oh well, you live and learn. Then at the end comes the hard sell...the masseusse comes out with a recommendation on areas of tension she found and the receptionist gives a high pressure pitch for a yearly subscription. If the massage had been eyeball rolling into the back of my head fabulous, I would have considered it, but it was forgettable, she skipped the scalp massage and hands and feet altogether. I normally like Massage Envy, I have a membership at Highland In location. I now have available to use 6 massages because I can't get in. I try to schedule a week in advance and still can't get an appt for 3 weeks now. They told me to schedule 2 to 3 weeks in advance, that is stupidity. When I complained she said it can be used all over the country. What help is that when I live here! I will cancel and lose all the money I spent on membership but will find a more accommodating company. Don't waste your money on memberships here! read more

This was my first massage at a Massage Envy Spa, but not my first massage. The atmosphere was very relaxing. My therapist, John, was very professional. He took the time to find out where I was having the most trouble and he used just the right amount of pressure to work them out. I've been a member for 1.5 years and I always get excellent service. Front desk staff are ALWAYS friendly and pleasant. I ALWAYS get a reminder email and phone call a few days before my massage. In the beginning I took whichever therapist was available and then about 6 months ago I was paired with Alyssa. She has been my therapist ever since. Whatever knots, kinks, etc that don't belong she annihilates. Everytime I walk out I feel sooooooo much better than when I walked in. Recently, I've had her massage my arthritic knee. Whatever she does relieves me of pain for the next 4-5 hours and probably longer. 2 years ago I gave my mother a gift card for Christmas so she could try it. She's been a member ever since. I am not sure where people go but even the regular massage price is not outrageous. As for therapist, your really just need to find the right one for you as they are all different. When we got there they accidentally double booked our couples massage so we had to do individual. Then they tell us the actual massage is only 50 min. I had to wait 20 minutes because they were running behind. The girl was nice but talked the entire time. I'm there to relax, not chit chat. Then they try to sell you products and packages. Just had my first experience at massage envy. Had an appointment for a 90 min massage. Unfortunately it was not a great experience, it started a few minutes late and ended early. On to the bigger issue, the therapist has "allergies" and was sniffling, coughing, and scratching her nose the entire appointment! I don't see how this is exceptable at all. All I got was a bunch of sorry's. How can anyone relax when someone is coughing the entire appointment, gross! Hello. I'm writing regarding my appointment or lack thereof. I made an appointment about a week and a half ago, the massage was a transfer gift from a member. When I made the appointment I gave my information and was given an appointment time. I was also told if I cancelled less than 24 hours before my appointment I would be charged $50 and if I was a no show charged the full price for the appointment. Today was my appointment. Not wanting to be late I called this morning to confirm my appointment. It was confirmed. I arrive a half hour before my appointment only to be told the person scheduled to do my appointment called off. I was told they called me but I didn't answer. No voicemail was left. I'm extremely upset, disappointed and annoyed. I made arrangements for this appointment. I paid a sitter for my children. Only to be told"sorry" and we "tried"to contact you. I was informed twice about the cancellation policy and yet there is no compensation for my inconvenience? I have to pay my sitter a minimum of 3 hours! Not only that but I live 25 minutes away! So not only did I have to pay for a sitter I didn't need, but I wasted gas and time. I was told I can try and reschedule you again..... Then when I verbalize my frustration again with the two women at the counter I'm condescendingly told again we're sorry there's nothing we can do. I was very excited to have my first professional massage as well as a first couple massage for my boyfriend and I. Sad to say I was very disappointed about this place after how much it's raved about. Problems: They cut our massage 15 min short. We paid for an hour. Only my legs,arms, and back was massage for a full body massage! My problem area which was my thighs wasn't even touched My boyfriend put no feet, and they did it anyway as well as skip his head for a scalp massage. When this establishment first opened, they had wonderful therapists and estheticians. At the end of 2014, everything changed. While I found a good massage therapist, I couldn't find a decent esthetician to give me a good facial. It is impossible to discuss bad service with anyone because the therapist/esthetician stands at the front while you're checking out. I stuck it out for 3 months more before deciding I needed to cancel. I had been a member for well over a year so I was month-to-month and figured it wouldn't be an issue. That's where it got interesting... On March 30th, I canceled my membership. First, while I was filling out the paperwork, the waiting area had 3 therapists and 2 managers just sitting on the couches. None of them asked me why I was cancelling or if there was ever an issue. Then, there is a 30-day cancellation policy, so I accepted the fact that I "may" be charged for my April membership that comes due on the 23rd of April. The girl at the front desk told me that it all depended on when my paperwork was processed. Now at this point, I had been a member for well over a year. I got a 90-minute massage every other week and a facial every 4 weeks, so it isn't like they had not gotten their money's worth out of me. To be completely honest, this model depends on clients, like myself, that spend more than the membership costs - and I was spending around $200/month more - and that they wouldn't be interested in keeping me there. The girl who took my paperwork said they would call me when my paperwork was processed and that was how I would know. So today, the 24th of April, I received a call from Massage Envy. They SAT ON MY PAPERWORK until the day after payment was due. But that's not even the best part... because it was one day after, she said they were going to waive May's membership. Wait, what?!?!?! I wasn't happy with the fact that they waited to process, but I'll except that, but then tell me I technically was on the hook for another month because they waited? That's really stealing. Interesting fact, the franchise currently has a class action suit against them for just this very thing. So sign up with them at your peril. I will not be using the last massage (which expires in 30 days) because I have no interest in going there anymore. read more
