Finally I used the gift card I had received for my birthday. After many attempts of booking online I finally found a location with availability to match my day off. Upon to my arrival the service exceed my expectations. I was impressed by the cleanliness, professionalism and the service. I booked an appointment online for a massage. Armando (masseur/therapist) was extremely professional, he focus on the areas of more tension and provided an overall great massage. The store granted me the "online price" $80 and prior to my appointment they called me to let me know that I needed to arrive early to fill out some forms and that the Normal price is $130. As for the call the lady who assisted me wasn't very friendly, she even asked me if I ever had massages before not in a very friendly manner. I told her that I did have massages in the past but never at any Envy locations. As for my experience I had a great massage. I was 15 minute late for my facial since I went to the wrong location that was oj the same street. The young girls at the front desk were argumentative with me about why I should have known what location to go to when they ate both called Massage Envy Hollywood. The woman who did my facial rushed through my facial so quickly that she even finished early. I do not particularly care for chain massage parlors. However my boyfriend planned this as a surprise. So being a good girlfriend, I kept my mouth closed and pretended I had a good time. For these chains, they are simply hiring people who has a certificate and bringing them on board. Because let's be honest, look at what they're charging for a massage. My boyfriend's masseuse, I can tell that she wasn't much experienced. We're doing a couples massage but he's finished at least 6 minutes before me. How? My masseuse seemed like he knew what he was doing and can tell that he has a real passion for it. I mean overall they were both nice but my experience that day confirmed exactly why I do not do chain massage parlors. People come to places like these because there is practically one on each corner and they offer a monthly membership. However people don't realize that with that same monthly membership price they can get a quality massage somewhere else and it's basically the same thing of receiving one massage a month. Speaking of membership, the other young lady that was there was practically pressuring a young lady leaving to get the membership. To the point where some of the things she was saying was basically calling her dumb. "If you get it because you work for the hospital we'll waive whatever fee" and when the young lady told her no she likes "so you want to pay the fee when you come back". Like girl that's her money. DO NOT GO HERE!! The manager Liz Fuentes needs to get fired!!!!!!! On December 17th, 2023, I purchased an online $200 gift card for my Mother as her Christmas gift. I called the closest Massage Envy to my home asking if I could get an actual gift card that I could give to her. They mentioned since I purchased it online, they cannot give me a physical card, but they can add the gift card information to her profile. They did and that's when the receptionist informed me my mother has another gift card credit of $130 that she never used. That's from a different gift card that I purchased for her a few years ago. Which means she has a total of $330 to be able to use. I provided all this information to my mother, and she booked her appointment for a massage on 12/29/23 at the location 5081 Sheridan St Hollywood, FL 3302. When her massage was completed, my mother went to check out. The staff in that location refused to allow my mother to use the $330 credit she has on her account! Charging her for the services. My mother kept telling them she had the gift cards and presented to them the gift card number shown attached. They kept telling her different reasons why they would not use the information she provided. They said she needed a physical gift card, that she didn't have any money on her account, the receptionist kept making different excuses that did not make any sense. My mother called me all stressed out and I spoke to the receptionist who wasn't making any sense. I asked her to speak with the manager and she told me the manager refused to speak with me because she doesn't have time for me!!! What an unprofessional response is that! The manager doesn't have time to speak with me regarding the issue that they just caused! My mother had to pay with her own money, and they made her sign two different receipt. Once she signed it she realized one receipt was under a different person's name!! they charged her a $20 that belonged to someone else!!! Attached you can see the proof! This location is a complete fraud!! I called the 480-366-4123 number to present my complain and request my full refund of the full amount of $330. I received a call back days later and I was told they will investigate. Shortly after I received a call from my mother who had the store manager Liz Fuentes on the other line. My mother connected us three way. And this lady began disrespecting my mother and I. She refused to allow us to speak and was saying that we disrespected her employee that she was there, and she heard the conversation when she was not there, and she is the one that refused to show her face and refused to speak with me over the phone when I requested to speak with her. She started to call us names and she created this story that never happened! All she was saying was lies!! She was yelling and disgusting us. It was so bad we had to hang up on her! All your conversations are recorded, and I want a copy of how one of your branch managers disrespected us! She even admitted to us that the reason why they refused to use the gift card and made my mother pay out of her pockets is because with the gift card they do not make money!!!! I'm giving this 3 starts only because Jamie (my male masseuse) was excellent. However this facility was not at all flexible or accommodating to a couple last minute changes, which as a service provider myself I think about the long-term retention of my clients and try to remain flexible in certain instances. Not churning and burning massages and squeezing the extra $30 out of a client one time, whereas if they had been even the slightest bit more accommodating I would have returned. The backstory; I booked with Jamie who I thought was a female, it was a male. It's 100% my fault. I asked for another massage therapist, no one was available. I said I wasn't comfortable and that if I cancelled I'd be charged. I wasn't given an option to come back the next day or pay then with a voucher and return. No solution. "You'll be charged if you don't do it" Second issue that caught me by surprise was i was gifted a massage, I signed up for 90 minutes but it was only 60 min gift. So I asked if I could just do the hour, not the whole 90 minutes. Once again I was informed even if I did 60 not 90 I'd be charged the extra $30. Because "then we can't get anyone else in that time slot" Listen-- I know the policies. I have them myself in my business. But consumer are human, they want to be heard and considered and at the end of the day they will appreciate the flexibility and understanding much more and be a consumer for life. In this situation no alternative accommodations were offered, in which case it shows me they don't really care about their customers. Hit the quota and that's it. If they had even just said "since you're a new customer we can downgrade to 60 minutes this one time but please be aware this is the policy moving forward" I would have been much more inclined to book and keep coming back. I had a very unsettling experience from the masseuse, to the girl at the counter, to the manager, and from what the manager said, "the owner too". To be fair, my husband and I have never had a good experience here due primarily to the staff at the counter. That being said, I was desperate to book my husband and I a couples massage, and they were able to take us at the date and time we wanted. During the massage, I felt uncomfortable with the man from the start, here are a few reasons why. First, he did not seem trained, or he was just "bad" at massage, but I stayed and hoped it would get better. However, I kept thinking to give him a little more time. a little more time, a new area. I was hoping he would do some technique right that would encourage me to stay, but it only got worse. The 2 very worst parts were his fingertips touching too close to my butt. It was the way and the direction they were touching! It is not often that "i" can feel the masseuses finger tips....there is a way to massage and a way to touch, and I did not like his touch. Then he found a spot on the top of my back just above my right butt cheek where he put his fingertips into my skin and began to make small, quick circular motions which only accomplished jiggling then entire bottom half of my body...My butt was jiggling away... (I am very giggly due to being over weight now). This was another uncomfortable technique, and then of course he had to do the same thing to the other side, jiggling my butt and everything south. I think he was watching my butt shake. There was NO therapeutic thing happening. Very weird. That's when I mustered up the courage to ask him to "just massage my feet". Then he said, "I will when I finish with your back." Makes sense but I hated it. Eventually, I said it again "I would prefer if you would just do my feet." After a few minutes with the feet, which hurt...I then was able to simply say, "I am finished with the massage." This was hard to say but I was done. He then tried to end my husband's massage, and I said, "No, why my husband can finish his massage." He said, "Well I cannot leave you in here alone." I said, "What?" Then my husband said, "Are you ok?" I replied, Yes, I just have to get out of here." Then the man finally left so I could get dressed. When I came out a young lady was waiting for me, she seemed concerned. We went to the front and spoke. I tried to say as little as possible about how bad I thought the guy was, and how uncomfortable I was. I really wanted to run out of there, but she pressed on. I just told her I felt very uncomfortable, and needed to quit. I asked her what I owed, and to my astonishment, she said she wasnt going to charge me! Seeing that my husband have not had great experiences with the front staff there, I was pleasantly surprised that I was "being taken care of." I also said that I do not think that man was trained. The young lady then said, "Oh well, he has a cliental base, and I have had a message by him and it was very good." I left to do some emotional shopping because I felt disgusted but pleased that they seemed to care. However, as I waited for my husband to finish his time, the young lady called me on my cell phone and said, that her manager said, she must charge me something for the services. I tried talking with her but she was following orders. I said, "I am outside, Ill be right there." I go in and we have words. I also told the young lady that her instincts were right not to charge me, as I assumed she noticed the fear/shock expression on my face when I came out of the massage originally!!!. She continued to say that she was listening to her manager. At that time, I remembered my husband had had an incident with a manager from this store, and made reference to it. I went on to say "this is why you guys have two stars on yelp, this is terrible!"" My husband was out paying his bill and said, "You told my wife that you are not charging her, and now you've called her back and said, the manager said to charge her? We all said, yes. One girl behind the counter seemed concerned and she said, "We just work here." A few days ago, while on vacation I received a call from this same "manager". She came off as being very sweet and concerned, "Last week when you received your massage here, I just wanted to let you know that we have reviewed the tape, and discussed it with the owner and have decided to....(NOT PAY ME BACK LOL) we have decided to withdraw your membership with us, and you and your husband are no longer permitted to come into our store!!!! OMG LOL The end. Good riddance and THANK God. They are the worst store and group of people I have ever come across in a service industry. I do not know if I lost the membership everywhere, but thankfully, we do have other places for massage that we like, and also, the Massage Envy at Sheridan East are SO MUCH MORE PROFESSIONAL! I would give less than 1 star if possible. Imagine being told I cannot cancel an appointment after the "1000 year rain" we received for 5 days straight. I called first thing in the morning when I realized I was flooded in and could not drive there. I was told by the front desk that she'd have to call a manager and call me back. She did call back and proceeded to tell my that the manager said I would be charged the full amount because I did not cancel with 24 hour notice. I did not know 24 hours before that I would not be able to leave my house. I have never had to cancel before, and did not even make a big deal when I was told I could not freeze when I had back surgery earlier his year and since I had frozen during covid I was not able to do it again so soon. I literally had back surgery unexpectedly and couldn't go for a massage even if I could have walked there by myself. The customer service is a joke. From the front desk girls that are trying to do their best, but have to get constant approval from the "management" to the actual management! They should go to school to learn about customer service and how to retain customers. Not to just have a revolving door of one time buyers, who all clearly have the same issues with the staff. Don't join unless you plan to keep the membership forever. They don't process cancellation requests in a timely manner and continue to charge your credit card after you've filled out the appropriate paperwork on time. I've called, texted, and emailed for months with no response from management in resolving the cancellation and refund of unwarranted charges. I had an amazing experience tonight. As soon as I walked in, I was delightfully greeted by Amber. She went over everything with me before my massage and I was very comfortable. She even helped me sign up for a membership, which was fast and easy (and worth it). My massage was with Jamie. Though I am sure there are other wonderful professionals at this location, I will only be going to Jamie from now on if I can help it. He was truly amazing. This was my first male message therapist and I was completely comfortable with him the entire time. We had a deep tissue session and it was incredible. He was sure to give a lot of attention to my problem areas and also discussed them with me afterwards. He is very knowledgeable and I appreciate that. As it happens in all great massages, at the end I wasn't ready for it to be over. My back pain was subsiding while I was on the table and I felt noticeably better by the time I left. This is why I did not hesitate to signup for the membership. It's a pretty great deal if you are looking to have regular massage for the health of your muscles and spine. My experience on January 8,2021 was everything I expected it to be, wonderful!!!! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Ms. Liz who was behind the counter. She confirmed my appointment and immediately handed me an iPad to answer general questions. Once we went over the logistics, she walked me to a small and cozy waiting area. Approximately ten minutes later, Ms. Estella introduced herself as my massage therapist for the evening. As we were walking to our room, she told me I was in good hands. The temperature in the room was warm and comfortable. After my 90 minute deep tissue massage, I asked if the 90 minutes was really over. Lol. If I didn't book such a late appointment, I definitely would have asked to extended my session. Once the session was over, Liz explained areas of concern from Ms. Estella. She also told me about their membership. I was so pleased with my entire experience, I decided to enroll for $55.00 a dollar a month. *There was a hand sanitizer dispenser on the counter for use and signs that said mask required displayed throughout the office. About a year ago I decided to give massage envy another go. This location used to have staff that wasn't the most pleasant however in recent times that has changed. Receptionists are peaceful and welcoming and my masseuse is wonderful. I did decide to become a member. I feel it is a little cheaper than going to a upscale spa for a massage. I wanted to have a hold on my account until a vaccine for COVID-19 is available and was told I could only have a hold for 4 months as they froze the account for 2 months already during the lockdown. After the 4 months billing would resume. I could cancel and renew my membership after a vaccine, and that is the best they could do. I have 8 massages accrued, and will loose them unless I renew later. I said it isn't safe to get a massage during a PANDEMIC, and the manager said that was my opinion. Mine and the CDC's. I tried many location of theirs and some have people that are better than other in the massage and different techniques. we just need to find the right one for us. As for this location, I have been going here for the last 3 years I believe, I tried many of the people working there and most of them know how to do the pressure I like and take out the knots. I have suspended my account 1 time and the lady on the phone was very nice and professional and I was not charged, I checked my bank every month until I reopened it 3-4 months later and got back in business. I've been a member of Massage Envy since 2011. I relocated to Hollywood two years ago and have been going to the Hollywood location for about 2 years. I always had a great experience up until yesterday, Friday, March 10, 2017. I arrived at 1130am and checked in and the receptionist at the desk told me I was "all checked in, enjoy". So I was very unpleasantly surprised when my 90 minute session was only 60 minutes. My therapist, Oneida, who is great by the way, told me that the front desk staff said they'd explained to me that I was late and would only get the remaining 60 minutes. But that was simply NOT TRUE! So I spoke to the manager about it who informed me that my appointment was actually at 11AM and not 1130 like I'd thought. So that was completely me fault, but had the front desk staff told me this when I arrived, instead of just saying "You're all checked in, enjoy", like they did, at least I would've known to only expect 60 minutes. I work in law enforcement, (very stressful) and had worked a double shift Thursday night (16 hours) so it was my fault that I didn't get the time right. It's also my fault that my cell phone was not turned on in the morning when they tried to call me at 11AM. It is, however, their fault that they didn't said a word about any of that when I arrived at 1130AM. And then LIED to the therapist by telling her that they'd explained it to me when they had not. AWFUL. I wish I had checked the reviews on here before making my appointment. I booked a mother/daughter massage for 11 a.m. to visit after our nail appointment next door. It was supposed to be a relaxing, pleasant day. My mother and I arrived separately. I was already in the nail salon and she walked into Massage Envy and asked if her daughter was there. They said no without asking for a name. When she said my name they told her the appointment wasn't for another hour and asked for a drivers license. My mother did not have her license. I did. She was told she'd have to pay $78 instead of being told to wait an hour for me. After she figured out she needed to go next door to meet me she left and while leaving they continued to scream at her "It's $78 OK or do you want me to cancel the appointment?" She told them no because it wasn't her appointment and walked out to meet me next door. Completely unprofessional. Strike one. When my mom found me and told me the story I went next door to cancel our appointment. I found three girls sitting at the front desk with what seemed like nothing to do in an empty lobby. What I said: "My mother came in here earlier. She doesn't feel comfortable coming in for our appointment because she says she was treated rudely." Instead of taking the time to save the appointment or apologize they started to argue with me and were rude to me as well. Strike two. As I'm walking out I'm told "We'd already canceled it when she left." Strike three. This wasn't my mother's appointment to cancel. She specifically said not to cancel it. She didn't need to have a license demanded from her an hour before our appointment. She especially didn't need prices yelled at her when I booked the appointment and I was treating. This is the worst massage envy that I have visited. They tell you that you can cancel the membership at any time to make you sign the contract. THIS IS NOT TRUE!. Read the contract carefully. You do have to have a note from the Doctor or move to the middle of nowhere to be able to cancel it. Horrible experience. I was a customer for 5 years, never complained and after canceling they continue charging you. Even though I have 18 sessions accumulated they still charging me and they gave me all kind of excuses to not refund me MY MONEY! And then they gave me a time cap to use the session for a reason I couldn't use. They gave me 60 days for 18 sessions! So I have to go every 3 days for 2 months to use what I have paid!! HORRIBLE!! My first time at massage envy in Hollywood..Staff was friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk in. Check in process easy and tour given before been sat in the waiting area. My therapist was Jimena and she was amazing! I requested deep pressure and she nailed it perfectly. I felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the session.. Def Recommend Jimena ! The downfall was the check out..after leaving your massage...your relaxed! but than they try to push the membership joining and details:.Think maybe that should be mentioned upon check in and if someone's interested, to see someone at check out. Besides the massages being just mediocre, the manager Liz was rude and very condescending on the phone when i called to see how i go about cancelling. Terrible terrible customer service. I never do contracts as i know they always screw you, so i was not aware when i signed up it was for a 6 month membership, i would've NEVER signed up, i thought it was a month to month. So i just went online to book a facial for maybe the coming week, no one could see me till the end of January. That has been an issue every time i try to book. very inconvenient. SO BEWARE. i can only speak for the Hollywood location. And yes i did give LIZ a piece of my mind. I am a customer, i was not rude, maybe upset and annoyed , no reason for a manager to talk down to or like i was a 3 yr old. No honey, that doesn't fly with me. never ever again, their are too many people needing business who are welcoming, accommodating and RESPECTFUL to their customers. read more
