So I came to Massage Envy because of a friend gifting me a gift card almost a year ago! I finally had some time to use it after I remembered I had it. Let's start by the call to make the appointment. I called at around 5pm on a Wednesday. I was placed on hold twice. The second time after I had given all my details to a rep another rep got on the line and had no idea what was going on. I proceeded in stating I was holding for my confirmation for Tuesday at 8:45 and she stated it was already booked. I advised well I was waiting for a confirmation maybe that's my reservation, which wasn't but she was confused with AM/PM. I finished the giving the details call took about 10min. I believe it shouldn't have taken that long. Now to the day of the message. We arrived to the location (5 min late but I did call in advance to advise was running late, they were okay with it) and there was no one else there besides two receptionist and two massagist that I saw. When we arrived we were advised to take a seat and the receptionist approached us with forms and the offered tea or water. The forms were pretty easy to fill out formal questions. But I didn't like that the water was given in styrofoam cups. After we completed out forms we were then escorted towards the back where there was another waiting area. Which we didn't even wait 30 secs. Now to the massage. I booked a couples full body massage since my hubby and I were going to be off on a weekday together. When doing the reservation I did advise them that my hubby was pretty big and muscular. They said no worries that they had just the right person, which brings us to Cassandra. Cassandra was very welcoming, she did seem pretty small to massage my hubby but she used her techniques and he was very pleased with his massage. But next time he did recommend that I book him a male massagist. Since he's received massage preciously from a male and stated was better since he was able to actually go deep into his muscles to release tension. Also he needs more time because he's so big to be able to actually get his full body and release all the tension. Now to my massage, Miladys. She was excellent! I have a lot of tension on my shoulders and she was able to relief every single one of them. She was very professional and new what she was doing. I wouldn't mind booking her again! When the massages were done at the end we were hit with the sales pitch but my hubby is very intimidating when it comes to sales and he says no once. That's it! So we were out of there pretty quick. Wouldn't mind coming here again but preferably looking for a spa with more amenities. Which is why I gave this place four stars. read more

My credit card continued to be charged for 2 months AFTER I spoke with a representative who assured me it would be frozen. When I called to get clarification, front desk put me on hold three times because she said the person scheduling a massage on the other line was, "Dragging the call." As I spoke with the Manager about my unauthorized charges, she did not apologize for the inconvenience. She interrupted me while I explained my situation and told me I had to call the right location where I signed my contract. When I explained to her the number I called for the correct location was obtained from google and yelp, she continued to state I was wrong and could not help me. I will breakdown my review as follows: Pros The massage therapist was good and asked questions to see how my comfort level was and what areas to address. She used good pressure and addressed the right areas. Cons It was very disappointing that my 60 minute massage was only 50 minutes in addition to that I got the exfoliating foot massage. However, the additional foot massage apparently cuts into your massage time. So if you get the "60 minute massage" and exfoliating massage = 50 minutes. This is not right at all. When I came in she was so nice and after the massage you have to sit down with the same person and talk about the plan "they suggest" and because I only had a sore neck today and find a massage plan COMPLETELY unnecessary I said that I wasn't interested in it and her attitude changed, she turned extremely nasty and uninterested. Massage Envy is a scam! They get you to sign up for membership that you can't get out of! Even if you move across the country!! Then after moving across the country, when I go to schedule an appointment at the new location, they tell me they need to call the California location to ask if the California location office can transfer the credits from my husbands name to me! Apparently only the California office can transfer our credits since that was the locaction on record for our accounts. Then, after the appointment time that I requested had come and gone and I still hadn't heard from them, I called to see if we could schedule it at another day/time after we get confirmed from the California location that the credits were transferred. That is when they tell me that they did get the credit transferred and that they HAD ALREADY CHARGED me for both credits!! They are claiming that we didnt show up to the appointment!!! We were waiting for them to let us know if they were able to get the credit transferred BEFORE confirmation of the appointments. So, they make us wait until they can confirm the credit can be transferred by the other store location, then they do not call to let us know if it was or not, then they steal our credits for not showing up to an appointment we didnt even have confirmed!!! This business is such a scam!! THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT LET YOU GET MASSAGES YOU ALREADY PAID FOR!!! Here's another warning!!! And the 1 star is ONLY because I like Meledes as a therapist. My boyfriend PREPAID 12 massages for me in December 2013. Through the year I have used them for massages (I was booking 90 minute to 2 hours at a time, so I've only visited on 4-5 occasions). About the 3rd try I found a therapist that I really liked (enter Meledes). I called yesterday to make an appointment for my final massage. Apparently, it EXPIRED on 12/17/14. Jasmine (front desk receptionist) explained to me that my membership (even though I didn't have a membership -- we paid UPFRONT for 12 massages) -- and I would have had to have used my final massage within 30 days. So, using her explanation, that meant I would have had to have used it by 1/17 (assuming I was a member). I called on 1/22, so I was late by 5 days (according to their supposed expiration policy). I asked to speak with the manager and was informed she (Jennifer) would be in today at 11:30. I called Jennifer about 12:30 this afternoon and told her I had spoken with Jasmine yesterday. Jennifer attempted to explain that my membership expired (so now I AM a member) and that Jasmine was incorrect in telling me that I had an additional 30 days to use my massage because that is a courtesy only extended to members (now I'm NOT a member -- I can't keep track!!) She did inform me that if I wanted to reinstate my membership (I'm back to being a member!!) I could pay $59 on a month to month basis and then my "expired" massage would be back into play. WTH??!! You want me to pay $59 to use something that has already been paid for??!! And then get caught up in some contract BS that I would never be able to get out of??!! After going back and forth, Jennifer told me she would need to speak to her Operations Manager. I asked when I could expect a call back; she said Monday (after some silly conversation about when the Operations Manager comes in -- sometimes on Saturday, sometimes on Sunday and, of course, when Jennifer would be working -- sometimes she comes in at 10, 11, or 12 -- depending on how busy she is -- to which I asked "so I guess I'm not getting in this weekend?" Jennifer's response was "we are completely booked and have no availability this weekend anyway." Alllllrighty then. Hung up with her...expecting a return call on Monday (which would have been 1/26/15) and for the heck of it, had my girlfriend call to see if there was availability to get a massage this weekend. "Of course," said Eden, "we have plenty of availability; what time would you like to come in?" My girlfriend said 3pm tomorrow. The receptionist asked whether she would like Meledes or Fawn. My girlfriend said that she would call back as she realized she may have a scheduling conflict. I wasted no time to call Jennifer back to let her know that I now know that there is plenty of availability tomorrow and that she had flat out LIED to me. Jennifer's response: "we have certain times for members and certain times for people who aren't members." WHAT???!!! No one asked my girlfriend if she was a member or not. SUCH BS. If there is anything I hate...it's a liar. Please understand being lied to is my BIGGEST pet peeve and while I had no intention of paying the $59 to get my massage back -- and wouldn't have felt comfortable going back to them at this point anyway -- THIS TOTALLY SEALED THE DEAL for me. I did tell her that I would be writing a review and told her I would wait to hear from her on Monday after she had the chance to talk with her Operations Manager. Half hour later -- Jennifer called. Twice. I returned her call and she told me that her OM told her she could extend my expired massage for 1 week. So now I have until 1/30 to use it. I asked her to please have her OM call me on Monday. I just hung up with Paula -- the OM. It is her day off today, but she called me anyway. She was very apologetic about what had happened (I gave her the 45 second version of the story) and gave me TWO weeks to use my already paid for massage and she would include a service enhancement. She also offered another location for me. She said she appreciated my bringing it to her attention -- otherwise she would not know what goes on in her stores. I've been a member of massage envy for years. This location is great. Always clean, I can almost always get an appointment with someone at the last minute, and everyone is very friendly. Jody is THE BEST massage therapist there, and I usually have to book her over a month in advance, but it's worth it!!!! She really listens to your concerns and pain issues, and has made my back and carpal tunnel pain so much better with repeated visits. She is always in a good mood, always smiling, courteous, and always gives a great massage. The front desk management is also good. I received a gift card for Mother's Day. I was greeted by a very friendly, yet sales driven employee. The one star is for the massage. The massage was professional and felt great. Once I was finished I was very relaxed and then here it came. The sell. Really? Nothing like ruining a great massage with "so let's get started and sign you up". "Why don't you want to join today?" Stay away from this Message Envy!!!!! This place is incredibly unprofessional! I purchased a contract a few months ago and had to relocated to a place where there is not a branch close by. The contract states that if there is not a Message Envy within close proximity you can cancel the contract. Well, they refuse to do this. I have repeatedly sent them all the documentation - via mail and fax and they have "lost" all documentation. The manager/owner refuses to call me back so I can find out what is going on. They make you sign a contract for 12 MONTHS without letting you know and the CROOKS tell me that i could cancel the membership at any time, just to make you sign the contract.THEY ARE all LYERS! The receptionists were nice and professional for my visit. The girl who did my deep tissue massage was ok, she could only go deep with her elbows, which was kind of a disappointment (not everyone can do a good deep tissue). But she was attentive and focused on the areas I told her. I don't try to save money on the tip, just because the massage is cheaper (and shorter) I'll tip 20 for a good 1 hour because if you think about it, the therapist isn't really making that much. With this chain, you have to find a therapist who you like, there are a lot of different ones at each location so I'll just try a different therapist next time. I also go to the aventura location and had a great deep tissue from Nuris. I've had better (and worse) massages and when you break it down, this place is a good value. If you get 2 massages a month, its half the price of a regular spa. read more

I have been a member for several years and got so busy with my job that I was unable to use my monthly massages and they kept accumulating. I was able to put my membership on hold for awhile. Yes it is true the 60 minute massage is 50 minutes because the therapist has to find out your trouble spots so she can address those most effectlvely and that takes time. The receptionists are polite with great attitudes which makes the experience even better. A big round of applause for my therapist Jody who was able to help me regain range of motion in my left shoulder which had been a problem for several weeks. After only 2 sessions I am almost back to normal. Give them a try. You wont be sorry. read more

Rarely complain but this is deserving! Came in with a gift card for a massage and gave it to the employee before my massage started. When I came out she tried to charge my debit card saying she never received the gift card. Another employee actually came and said she saw me give it to her and they knew they lost it. Long story short she said I would have to be charged until they found it and I could not leave until it was resolved. I left and when the manager called me she was WORSE than the employee!! Don't do it. This specific location let me suspend my account for 3 months during covid but when they reopened they tried to charge me again per month. I explained to them that I am a diabetic high risk for covid and couldn't leave my house. I had a few months of prepaid sessions available as well. I asked to be suspended until it was safe. They refused. Then I said ok just cancel me and I will eat the usused credit they said to do that I would have to pay for an additional month which is another $65. What? I had 2 to 3 unused sessions. So I cancelled my credit card because they continued to try and charge me every month and harrassed me with texts and phone calls. I spoke to a manager that refused to help in anyway. I said just suspend me until I feel safe and I will return. I tip very well and I always felt taken care of there. She said no. She stated that if I wanted to cancel I would now have to pay for the last 3 months of unused service. I said no. She said that they will try 3 times to charge me in October and then permenently ban me from coming back until I paid for those 3 months of service that I cannot use due to my illness. THIS DESERVES LESS THAN A STAR I went to go get a massage for the first time with my boyfriend and booked a couples room then when we got there they said that they did not have it available even though I booked it a week in advance. They tried to make up for this by giving me aroma therapy which didn't really make a difference to me or my boyfriend. This is only the beginning of my terrible experience at this place. Now not to mention the fact that the masseuse mostly used her elbows to massage my back and then I felt that she would focus more on one half than the other half of my back, legs and arms. It also doesn't seem fair to me that 5 minutes to take your clothes off and 5 minutes to put them on should be part of the 60 minute (now 50 minute) massage that you're paying for. Once my massage was over I went outside and I was bombarded with two people asking me if I wanted a membership which they did not explain clearly at all. I was told that I could put down my credit card information so that I would not have to pay the $120 price to become a member if I came after my first massage there and that I had 30 days to cancel free of charge if I changed my mind. So I did that and left. A few days went by and I decided that it was not worth my money to go get a massage that only made me feel better for 2-3 days it would make more sense to just go to a chiropractor and get my spine realigned for about the same price. So I called to cancel my "membership" and they told me that they couldn't cancel it and the most that they could do for me is that after the first payment goes through they could FREEZE my account for 6 months which is not even close to anything I wanted to happen I simply wanted to cancel my membership all together and have nothing to do with this place and now I am waiting to speak with the general manager tomorrow at 12:30. I wish I could give this facility negative stars I have never seen such horrible customer service!!! I'm a easy going person and I will admit my massage was good but I went with my mom and sister who were visiting town my mom has been through so much and was in desperate need of a massage. They took us all back after having us fill out extensive forms asking for medical information which in no way do we have to disclose since our medical information is private and protected by HIPAA. My mother has an autoimmune disease and is in remission so I don't know why they treated her so poorly given they couldn't even begin to understand they are not doctors the facility does not have a member of the medical staff who is certified to review that information yet they took us all back and unbeknownst to me left her there for several minutes without returning in the massage room until she got up to figure out what was going on were she found the manager and massage therapist discussing my mother it turns out they refused to massage her because she has a autoimmune disease nothing that even if it was active would be any concern for them to act that way. They then failed to tell me or my sister that my mother who was already embarrassed had to sit there in the lobby while we were massaged for an hour by herself on her vacation if I had known I would not have stayed. They did not offer her any compensation or ask if she would like a facial instead. It is extremely unprofessional how they handled the situation it is supposed to be a spa where people can go relax and all they did was cause grief and stress to the one person who needed a massage the most I am disgusted. Additionally my sisters massage was deplorable she is a PT assistant and everything the woman did was out of the scope of what she is certified to do nor was her massage soothing it actually left bruises and we still had to pay. My sister wanted the information of who owned the franchise or the superior manager the front desk receptionist gave her a fake email that bounced back. I am completely disgusted with the service and wouldn't recommend the place to my worst enemy. If you are worried about someone's medical condition for lawsuit purposes even though no one there was qualified to make a medical judgement possibly even aren't certified to massage maybe you would have a release form in advance so you don't make your customers who keep the lights on feel so horrible. read more

I read the reviews on a few nearby locations and because of the goodreviews of Cassandra, I booked my massage with her. Reception and front desk were great in booking, signing me in and afterwards. Cassandra did each of the body parts I wanted and did not do the ones I didn't want. I asked for either medium to deep pressure and she was amazing at both. I had read and heard that the sales pitch afterwards is a hard sell and people were turned off. So right when Sandra, who was so nice, sweet and low key wanted me to sit down to discuss my options, I told her I am a teacher on a budget and she right away smiled and showed me what Cassandra recommended and just said to come back whenever I am ready and that was awesome! I would highly recommend Cassandra and again Sandra made my experience great too! read more

First of all my moms massage she said felt like fingers running up and down her back tickling her. Mine was good, but both of them ended at the same time.. only 45 minutes!!!! then we go to check out and the manager is yelling at a lady about how much gratuity to leave when she wasn't from this country and didnt understand. First off I would like to start by saying that I'm only giving this one star because I'm unable to give is 0 Stars. A few years ago I bought two gift cards. Unfortunately my mother didn't use hers which means I have a credit for 1. I've checked in a few times since then and was told that seeing how I bought it under my name it should not be an issue retrieving the information. Yesterday December 21st 2016 I went the Massage Envy at this location and I was greeted buy a nice lady with blonde curly hair attempting to sell gift cards. I told her my situation and she referred to her co-worker that was sitting at the desk with attitude I've ask to speak to a manager. She stated that she was one and that nothing could be done for me unless I have proof of purchase. I explained to her that I bought this back in 2010 and wanted to check on it , I was even willing to buy an extra one there for a gift for coworker. She rolled her eyes and repeated that she can't do anything without proof of purchase. I asked her can you at least look up my information. She was able to verify that I bought one in 2010 that was not used and stated that she was going to email the general manager and to check in with the results. She walked away and I was being assisted buy the nice lady with the curly hair preparing to buy another one for my secret Santa. The same assistant manager comes and says 5 minutes later I can't do nothing for you the general manager says you need proof of purchase. I've been reminded the Lady where am I going to find proof of purchase for something bought in 2010 my bank account is not even the same. She pretty much told me oh well. I immediately cancelled my purchase because I do not want to do business with someone who does not care about their customers. I wasn't begging for free massage or anything for free I paid for it. I was just unable to use it because my mother did not like that gift. I've never seen such disrespect and unprofessionalism in an establishment that is supposed to be classy you really should consider re educating your staff on customer service and how to talk to people without being disrespectful. If the shoes were on the other foot, she would not have like that to be done to her. I agree with some of the other reviewers. Don't go to this location if you can help it, not all Massage Envys are like this. I purchased my membership in the south beach location because I was working there at the time. The massage was great there. A couple months later I move to the Hollywood are so I started going to this location. The massages started off ok and then just went downhill from there. Most recently I get there 15 min early, sit in their lounge area (which is nothing to run home about), and after asking for my name like 3 times, the therapist finally comes 5 minutes later than my appt. I was sittin there for 20 min and 2 other people who got there after me, got called in first. Wtf!?! Anyways...the massage ended up not being good at all and to add injury to insult, it was only like 45 minutes long. She just stops, says shes done, and walks out. I look at the clock and I'm like, seriously?! But I'm done with that place, I'm going to start going to the Fort lauderdale location and I suggest anyone else, members or other, move to a different location as well! read more

She was amazing, we have amazing therapists here in New Orleans as well but she was so good that I wanted to bring her home with me! My wife and I love being able to do the couples massage. We have been ME members for a few years and feel massages are essential for us to feel better, relieve stress, and help us maintain a healthy lifestyle. It's tough to be happy when you have pain. Communication is key for any successful relationship. My therapist speaks w her hands! I'm not going to share who she is so you can try for yourself and see who you like most from the several talented therapist on staff. We now schedule our massages w the same 2 therapists and try to go at least once or twice a month. No commitment issues here. read more

My husband made apts for both of us for 10/1 at 1pm. He thought he was making the apt at the Sheridan East location. When we arrived at the East location we discovered we were at the wrong ME. He accidentally had made the apt for Sheridan Plaza West. The nice gentleman at the East location called the Sheridan plaza west location and explained what had happened. He told them we are new to town and got mixed up. West would not cancel our apt. They said we had to drive all the way down there. It was already after 1pm and with traffic it would have taken us 20 mins to get there. The manager of East even called down to Sheridan plaza and asked if they could please cancel our apts and not charge us. Well, they said no. So we lost 2 one hour massages. Absolutely ridiculous!!! We are new to the area and didn't realize we had the wrong location. The manager at East was so nice and even offered us an additional treatment with our massage for free. On the way home I called Sheridan plaza west and asked for the managers name. The young lady on the phone gave me the mangers 1st name but then proceeded to tell me she did NOT know her managers last name. I obviously challenged her and she asked someone else and they said they didn't know it either. Very sad. I'm beyond disappointed in the LACK of customer service WEST provided. We will never go to that location. I am contacting the corporate office to file a complaint against the WEST store. NEVER use the WEST location. I have had quite the opposite experience. I have had 4 massages at this location, all with the same masseuse, and have been very pleased. The masseuse is excellent and familiar with a variety of massage techniques via her education in the field. The facility is clean and inviting. I especially like the quiet room for members. The front desk staff could be a bit more professional and customer service focused. They tend to be a bit blase and defensive at times with customers. If the front desk staff were more congenial, I would rate this location at 5 stars; they lose a star because of the front desk staff. read more

I have been coming to this location for years. Jodi, my massage therapist is INCREDIBLE!!!!! She is so good I almost don't want to name her b/c then it will be harder than it already is to get an appointment with her. She is good at what she does and extremely passionate about it too. I had my first massage at this location. Receptionist asked for my drivers license and I was asked to take a seat in the waiting area for my masseuse. Massage was fine. Two days later I needed to show my license to cash a check and I realized that it was not in my wallet. After some deep thought , I remembered the last time I took it out of my wallet was at massage envy. Called the location and girl that answered the phone confirmed it was their. I asked her why they did not bother to call me to let me know. Her was was that "we have many drivers licenses sitting here in a box." They could take the time to confirm my appt. but not tell me that my drivers license was not returned by the office staff. I called today, three days after my massage, and spoke with the manager. I explained the situation and her response was that they tried to call me. I told her it was doughtful since no one ever has a problem reaching me and I had not received any message on my phone. She said "they probably did not leave a message." What a joke! I then asked her to mail it and she tells me to send her a stamp. I told her she must be kidding and she assured me she was not. I told her that it would take a week before I had my license in-hand if she waited for the stamp. I had an 1-1/2 massage, I would think they can cover the stamp, especially since they failed to give me back my license or bother calling me. I told her I would pick it up and hung up. Ok bare with me I have a lot to say about this Horrible horrible place!!! The girls who work here have no customer service skills and are very unprofessional. They won't admit to making mistakes and make you feel like the customer is wrong and they are right. Please DO NOT waste your hard earned money at this pathetic "establishment". Sadly, I signed up for the membership, which can't be canceled if you are unhappy with the services. The first massage I got was OK, but the next 3 were horrible. One was from a lady older than my grandma who was really weak, another was from a lesbian who tried to hit on me with prickly shaved arms, and the last one was from a from a girl who did not know what she was doing. You can obviously tell they hire anyone to work here. I came in to freeze my account due to a medical condition and the girl at the front desk told me not to worry about the unfreeze date and that after six months they would start recharging my card. Two months later I get a charge on my card from massage envy so I call to find out why and the girl who answered the phone told me since I didn't put an unfreeze date that my account unfroze after three months. Frustrated after learning this info for the first time I told them that when I filled the form out they told me not to worry about the unfreeze date. The girl told me that I didn't have to get an attitude with her!?!?! Are u kidding me?!?!?!? Maybe if u did your job the way it was supposed to be done this wouldn't be happening. I asked to speak to a manager who told me I had to come in with a doctors note and refill out the freeze form which would be very inconvienent for me since I moved to miami and do not have time to obtain a doctors note. I asked for the coorporate Offices number and they lied and said there was none. after Finding the Number online i attemped to call. Don't waste your time! I called and left about 4 messages over a period of 5 days and finally got a call back from a girl who basically thought I was lying LOL. She told me the manager would contact me. She never did. I went in a month later to cancel my account after they charged me again SMH. The manager wasn't there and the girl at the front said I would get a call from her and guess what?! Still haven't got that call to this day. PLEASE stay away from this place. I should have read the reviews before going here and allowing them to talk me into membership. However, I didn't...and now they have stolen $118 from me, won't give me my two massages and want two more months on top of it. They are very loud and rude at front desk, and Jessica is supposedly the manager. They say employees interaction with customers starts with management. This is a great example since the manager refused my service that I paid for already, until I gave another payment (yeah right). She proceeded to holler at me, get in my face and had the nerve to tell me I am yelling. I had a friend with me, and they finally said to her "ma'am your the one yelling." The goofy guy behind the counter "escorted" us out, and continued following us hollering profanity's and speaking a language other than what we speak here in America!! I am 100% american born and raised and don't speak foreign language because I'm not in a foreign country. They are EXTREMELY unprofessional and RUDE!! They are fighting with me over $59. All Massage Envy cares about is your money. Not your healing, you as a client, or anything else. They are a scam!! They told me there was no time-frame on the contract, and than filled in the blanks after I walked away and signed. I specifically asked!! I told them I want a signed copy of my contract, they lied and said they put it in my folder. All I got was a blank piece of paper with pre-typed paragraphs. I have contacted corporate, and they keep passing the buck. I specifically asked last night, if I was speaking with Corporate Manager, Liz said yes...come to find out she is customer service analyst. She said there is no such thing as corporate since it's a franchise, and I have to take everything up with Hollywood location. However, they want me to pay for two more massages, and after refusing services (mind driving 2 hrs away) for the one already paid and not used, I only have 9 days to use three massages. Are you serious!!! As far as I am concerned, I know business law and contracts. They changed the terms, and now is considered null and void. I will take them to court for my travel expenses, monies they stole from me, and court costs. Trust me, I will win. To top it off, this supposed Jessica who is manager and refuses to give her last name (I wonder why); said, we will just put you in collections. Okay, go back to school because you can't put anyone into collections with a social security number and I am dumb enough to sign a blank contract and take their word for it, but not an idiot to give a Massage Envy place where nobody know how to treat their clients, my social.
