The last 2 massages I've had, have been absolutely horrible. This past sat, she basically just put cream on my skin. I asked her to do my hips and lower back and she said, let me think about how to do that. Extremely light massage more like, just putting cream on until I told her to be more firm. Very disappointed they are not doing anything to keep their workers or customers safe in times of higher COVID19 cases and hospitalizations. When I asked if masks were required they were excited to say they were not. When I expressed I would need to cancel my appointment because I was disappointed they were not addressing the rise in cases. They did nothing other than cancel my appointment. They could have offered that the therapist would wear a mask and offer information about what they were doing to prevent transmission. But they just opted to cancel and say nothing. I would like to know how I am supposed to use sessions I PAID for when they have no protocols in place to ensure my safety?? read more

Beware before selecting this location to join. Their response during the COVID-19 Pandemic has been abysmal. They are only after your money and will force you to restart a membership on freeze without even notifying you. When going to cancel in person since in the past freezes and other account transactions HAD to be made IN PERSON, they did not allow me to go in and instead was turned away to go print the information at home, scan it, and send it back to them. This is a total joke! It is supposed to be safe enough for me to go in and get a massage or facial while someone breathes on me inches away, but not safe to go and sign paperwork? This is just another attempt to make it as hard as possible to stop the recurring billing. Massage Envy's approach is unethical at best as people try to navigate this pandemic and make the best choices to stay healthy. I've had two massages at this location and it will be my last with this company in general. $115 for a 60 minute massage when it's only 50 min hands on and the other 10 minutes is "consultation time" and "getting dressed and undressed". If I'm paying $115 for a 50 minute massage I'll take my business to VIVE! Therapeutic Massage right up the street. They actually use the full 60 minutes as massage time. Also, the girl I dealt with when I arrived opened the door and automatically said "you're right up the hall". Not asking me my name or time of appointment which took additional time off my massage because the person who's appointment was actually for arrived. My wife has had a membership the Massage Envy in Park Ridge for a year now. They routinely get appointments wrong. It has been impossible to get a good massage twice in a row because when you schedule an appointment with someone they never put you with that person, so if you find someone you like it becomes impossible to get them again. Today I picked up my wife from her massage at 2pm, and I had a massage scheduled for 2:30pm. My wife was talking to the receptionist and told her she liked her massage and wanted to make sure I got the same person. The receptionist confirmed I had the same masseuse. I then walked my wife across the street to her manicure appointment. When I returned the receptionist had replaced my masseuse with someone else. When I asked her she looked at her pc and said it doesnt say that here. She actually acted like it was the first she had heard of it. Terrible receptionists. I hope the masseuses understand if you give a great massage but the front office pisses off your customers you are not getting a tip. I do not recommend. read more

Creepy. Rooms are so dark you can't see. The therapist put the sheet over my head 3 times. What the eff was that all about. She looking through my purse? Offers you a glass of water when done? What you can't afford to give your clients a bottle of water? Front desk girls were not friendly. I came in with a gift card that said 90 minute massage. It had no amount listed. After my massage they told me I owed an additional $75. I said the gift card says 90 minute massage they said too bad the person who purchased it bought the promotional rate. How am I supposed to know that???!!! I have been a member of massage envy for several years, including in different states. The front desk service here is awful- had scheduled an appointment for my mother that was cancelled just as I was about to leave to drive her. Appointments in general are near impossible to get, a few mid-day options are all that's available. I had kept my membership going during the shut downs so as to support the therapists. Now that I finally got an appointment, the prices have increased and they won't honor my credit. The worst part is telling me this *after* the massage when I'm all relaxed and being the front desk being indignant that I even ask what this extra "service charge" is for, ruining the relaxation effects of the massage. At the *very* least, I should have been informed before the massage, ideal would have been at booking. They did tell me that I had some "full price credits" but had the discretion to use them. My mother has previously been here and they used their discretion to use the full price credit and not issue an additional service charge. read more

I switched my Massage Envy home base from Niles to Park Ridge because the best masseuse ever is here now, Shanti! When I first came to her I was having migraines and my doctor couldn't figure out a solution. After a few treatments from Shanti and continued maintenance in migraine free! Any pains or ailments I've had she's helped soothe away! I do wish the front desk was a bit warmer. The man who is often there when I come doesn't smile and is pretty cold, but I ignore him and spend most of my time getting my massage anyway. Our experience here tonight was poor! I've been a customer of massage envy for many years and have never had such horrible experience as I did this afternoon. My husband and I had a couples massage. Here is a list of all that went wrong: * we check in and the front staff was not very welcoming as they usually are at other facilities * we get there 15 mins prior to our appt time so she proceeds to let us know we're early so we will have to take a seat and wait until it's time * another couple walked in after we did at around 4pm (OUR appt time) and they are taken back before us * (just a few observations) we weren't asked if we wanted some water or tea as they're know to do at other facilities * they DID ask the customers whom they roomed before us if they needed anything or needed to use the restroom before they began (didn't ask us, they just rushed us into the room) * massage therapists came for us at 4:07pm (7mins after or appt time) * after screening us for a second time asking us what areas they should focus on and by the time we got undressed, the massages began at around 4:15 or later. * I originally booked a hot stone massage for my husband and his therapist said "no we do not do couples hot stone" mind you I booked a hot stone for him and a Swedish for myself!! * the room was super cold * my therapist kept putting cold lotion on me to massage me * my therapist must have forgetten to cut down his nails because he kept accidentally scratching me as he massaged me * I hear my husband's therapist turn him over to his back to finish massaging as they normally do. * My therapist did not turn me over and guess what time they both ended our massages???? 4:55pm.. do the math. I have been a member of Massage Envy for the past 3 years, usually just needing a tune up and/or relaxing massage. Recently I experienced horrible shoulder, neck and arm pain. Scheduled an appointment with Dan for Deep Tissue on a whim because I couldn't take feeling like crap and have seen much improvement in just two sessions. He is very skilled at targeting the source of pain, providing feedback as I asked about each part of my back and provided stretches to do at home. I have scheduled a few more follow ups with Alicia and Dan with high hopes I will have improvement in reduction of back pain. Highly recommend them both. Also, quick shout out to the Niles front desk support. They know my husband and father well and show great customer service and care for us all. read more

I haven't been a member of massage envy for years and I've gone to different locations. This location has proven time and time again that their service is not the best. They've canceled appointments last minute with no options to reschedule. There isn't consistency with the staff. It is difficult to book an appointment. While I can say that I love the guy that has been doing my massages at this location, I can't tell you how often they have screwed up my appointments. This last time was the last straw for me. I had called and spent 4minutes (according to my phone records) scheduled two different 1-1/2hr massages. On the day of my first scheduled massage, I called that morning to verify time and was told that they did NOT have me on the books.....for either massage. Trying to talk with this guy, who told me he was the manager, was like pulling teeth. He was very unresponsive, unapologetic and really didn't seem to care that I've been a very good, long standing customer with continuing issues. Let me start by saying I've gotten my fair share of massages at many places as I've had chronic neck and shoulder pain for years. I joined massage envy a couple years back because of their membership discounts- after all, massages are not cheap! I REALLY tried to give massage envy a fair shot and that's why I stuck it out for so long but in the end cancelled my membership. Long story short, the massages are average- if that. Whenever a good massage therapist works for them they are either always booked, only work specific days/hours (which are never accommodating) and with every experience I've had - end up quitting. I will try to state mostly facts in this review. Some of the positive things I experienced: The front desk associates were always friendly. You could usually get a last minute massage with someone. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, very soothing and relaxing. The heated tables are wonderful. Their sheets are changed every time (to the best of my knowledge). I was able to freeze my account when I was pregnant and easily unfreeze. I was able to cancel my membership without too much of a hassle. Some of the negative things I experienced: I asked a therapist to primarily work on my neck and shoulders and they did about 7 minutes of work in that area- not uncommon. The one hour massages are not an actual hour, they are supposed to be 50 minutes but usually end up being 45 minutes long. Having my massage therapist switched to a different one a couple days before my appointment and then switching me to yet another therapist the day before my appointment - and that therapist was not able to provide me the pressure desired. Therapist listening to rap music in her headphones during my massage. Therapists massaging me with one hand and relaxing their other arm/hand for 5 minutes or longer at a time. Therapists talking through the whole session when I told them I came in today to have a peaceful relaxing massage. One therapist actually gave me a dry massage- she put lotion on me once during the entire session. Therapists stretching me to take up time during the massage. Male therapists making remarks about my body- so uncomfortable being a female. read more

I was suckered into signing up for their program and then couldn't get out of it unless I came in to sign a contract of cancellation. If you don't They will continues to deduct money from your account. When you sign the cancellation you only have 60 days to use up whatever you paid for. After searching for a good, professional, deep tissue massage for ages - I finally found my spot at massage envy in park ridge. My massage was amazing. The masseuse was extremely professional and obviously educated and trained well in his craft. My friend received an equally amazing massage from a different masseuse there. The only reason I am rating this location with a 4 stars over 5 stars is because pricing system massage envy uses. The first massage is a good deal but after the first massage you have to become a member to get better rates and you have to sign up for a year which feels like a huge commitment. read more

I'm a Massage Envy member, meaning I get monthly massages. I normally go to the Massage Envy in Randhurst but realized Park Ridge was a little closer so I thought I try them. The girl who answered the phone and made my appointment was not pleasant and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her for making an appointment. However, I made the appointment for later that day (about 2 hours later). Unfortunately, I had to cancel the appointment due an emergency with our car and called to let them know. The same girl answered the phone and was very rude about having to cancel and informed me rudely there was a fee for cancellation. I understand that there needs to be a fee for late cancellations in general but considering I had just made the appointment two hours earlier there would have been no way for me to cancel the appointment 24 hours in advance so I do feel that I shouldn't be charged a fee. Regardless, it was really her whole attitude that put me off. I won't book again at this location. read more

They have very useful enhancements that can be added to the massage such as "rapid tension relief" (it's like a high speed percussion device) and assisted stretch. I booked a massage that was meant to be firm to deep tissue. The masseus informed me that he could do deep tissue without a problem. As I have a desk job, I needed my shoulders and neck released as much as possible. I left the message and after about 10 minutes, when my body cooled off, I realized that one of my shoulders felt exactly like it did prior to the massage. In recollection I realized that the massage was not nearly deep tissue and hardly firm, and I am fundamentally dissatisfied. Additionally, a large amount of time was spent in very useless soft releases that did nothing for me, and alrhough I vocalized that I wanted my upper back and neck focused on, a large amount of time was also spent on arms and whole back. I booked a couples massage for my girlfriend and I, and was very excited for my first massage envy experience. Unfortunately I could not have been more disappointed. To begin with, they asked when I scheduled the appointment what level of intensity I would like, and I specified deep tissue. If what I got was deep tissue, light must just be looking at you from across the room. It consisted mainly of light stroking motions and limb shaking, with one or two moments where I actually felt pressure. When I left I did not feel at all like I had gotten a massage, just lied down for an hour. Secondly, when we got to the room, we were asked if there were any areas we wanted the massage therapists to focus on. I asked for my neck and back and my girlfriend asked for her feet. They did not touch her feet, and no more time was spent on my neck or back than anywhere else. Lastly, this is a minor point but we got there early to take advantage of the full time and we started 5 minutes late and ended 6 minutes early. I hate leaving such a bad a review, this is not something I normally do and I actually had to make a yelp account just for this experience but it really was not good at all. 3 stars for the business because of their lack of a serenity room which I have experienced at every Massage Envy franchise I have visited (around 7 or 8). The front greeting area was small, public, hot and not comfortable. The people working the front desk were chatty with each other and not that engaged with the clients walking in. One of them kept walking back into a messy office and coming out chewing food like they didn't get a break to eat or something.....However, my provider TJ is awesome and puts her whole being into providing a great service as a masseuse. I was in desparate need of a massage but the usual places I go to had no availability. I must be honest, I am an LMT and AVOID Massage Envy for reasons I won't go into. I will divulge one of my "Pet Peeves" --- they advertise 60 & 90 minute sessions, but they include consultation and time to get undressed, so it's only 50 & 80 minuite sessions. Frustrating and misleading! I justified booking a session by reasoning....I'm going to support another therapist. I ended up with an 80 minuite session with Elena. She was wonderful, personable and well educated. She listened, addressed all areas of concern and I left feeling much better! I also loved the heated table, decor and colors - very soothing. Unfortunatley, I will not be signing up to become a member......one reason....... I want "hands-on" FULL 90 minute sessions. I will recommend requesting Elena. Also highly suggest Massge Envy invest in FITTED sheets for the tables. Much easier for therapist to work with and clients don't become entangled. LOL! read more

T.J. is amazing. I have issues with tension and a pretty tough knot in my upper back region. She is strong yet nurturing at the same time. It's rare to find someone who can work that area the way that it needs to be. I've tried many other therapists and it's really hit or miss and most times it's miss. I have a lot of tension, especially in my upper back and majority of my knots are gone since I joined the program allowing me to come in more often because of the discounts I get as a member.
