Had been with Massage Envy for over 15 years. Today I had my first session with Serena. I usually do deep tissue on upper body and I specifically told her what bothered me. She said ok. We started the session and in the beginning she did her routine. After a while when I was waiting for her to focus on where I wanted her to focus on, she said I'm trying to break up a certain tissue. I told her I know what is bothering me and asked her to please focus on what was bothering me, which was my shoulders. She did, and I didn't say much for the remaining session. After the session, I thanked her for helping me with my problem area. I asked if I could book the next session with her and the front desk girl said she doesn't want to book anymore sessions with me. I was very surprised. Took back my 20% tip and walked out. Will never return again. read more

My last experience was a joke. My only therapist I have used at both Pleasanton locations, as well as Livermore, has left for their Tracy location, and I have been been without a very good therapist for months, but trapped in the charges every month, and can't escape it. I tried someone they said did Medium/Firm pressure the first person I tried after Nicole, and it felt like kittens pressing on my back, the most gentle massage I have ever had. Nicole was deep tissue and a Med/Firm pressure at every visit. Then last month I went with my daughter and she and I had appts at the same exact time, and my person who looked on the elderly side, was wondering around the business, walked into the back and to the lounge, and was 15 minutes late, didn't say anything, didn't have a regular uniform on, so I thought she wasn't an employee, so I had to pay for a very questionable 20-25 minutes tops massage. She seemed like she was making up everything as we she went. She had on like capri pants, fuzzy socks and slides. She didn't apologize for being 15 minutes late, i know she was late becauase my daughter and I came out at the same time, and on my Apple Watch and Phone she was 15 minutes later than when my daughter's name was called. I told an employee over the phone saying I should get those credits back. She told me we are running out of time do you want me to do your feet? She did that for 3 or 4 minutes, then did another 3 minutes on my arms, then it was over. My last three experiences there have been a joke compared to my 6-7 years with. I recently had a massage at Massage Envy in Pleasanton, CA. This was my first experience at a Massage Envy and overall, It was good. I'd like to say that my massage therapist Daniel was great. He truly understood my concern and wants about what I needed to achieve in this massage. I actually left, took a "nap" at 4PM and I'm just now waking up at 12:30AM the next day! It's been years since I've had a full body massage and this treatment was much needed. Thank you Daniel! I'd also like to explain why I'm giving ME of Pleasanton a 4/5 star rating; They are currently experiencing construction next door. The front desk did not inform me that my room would be right next to the construction site, leaving me with a noisy and not so peaceful experience. I didn't complain to the front desk but as I was leaving, I noticed a ton of empty rooms toward the front, far from the construction site, which made me wonder why I was placed in the furthest room near the noise. It doesn't make any sense and looking back at that, the front desk should've apologized or gave me the option to either choose a different room or reschedule. The noise was awful. I have been a customer over the years at the different locations & have usually gotten good service. On Wednesday, it was a different story! I had an added on service to the facial which cost an extra $80. At the end of the service, I found a scrape along my chin which looked unpleasant. I called & complained about it. Now I have to attend an event with a scrape on my chin, not happy about it. It's never happened before, it's disappointing! They need to take more care & make sure their instruments don't scrape people's faces & better trained staff. read more

My review is based on the service staff, not so much my massage therapist. (But wait till the end for the accolades). I had a great experience, but my mom was faced with false expectations when it came to her membership. As well as, the staff not following through with her requests. It makes me sad that they seemed to try to take advantage of her and neglect certain requests. I can't really speak on her membership info, but I do know that they continued to charge her without sending a reminder of her monthly membership fees. When she tried to cancel, they told her she had 30 days to use her 13 services she had accumulated. (Corporate states it's 60 days). And didn't disclose certain limitations during this time. The other incident was when she called ahead of time and spoke with an associate about charging her daughter's services to her card, that was coming in the next day. The associate acknowledged her request, but still charged her daughter for her service the next day. It seems negligent on the staffs part and very disappointing it was handled this way. Side note: Nikki/Nicole was the massage therapist that assisted my sister and I. She is the bees knees!! I'm telling you.. if you need a professional that understands your body and listens to your needs, she's your girl. Truly grateful for the amazing massage, expertise and enthusiasm she brought. This rating is specifically for my massage therapist. For anyone looking for a massage therapist who truly knows their stuff, Mavies is your go to person. Mavies used to work at a different location and when he moved here I followed him. I now drive a little over half an hour just to see him, which alone says a lot. I've had massages from other therapists and NONE of them compare to Mavies. People get massages to feel better and that's exactly what he does. I tell him what needs work and he heals me. Other therapists may give temporary relief but the next day you're hurting again. Not with Mavies. He helps relieve my tight muscles, nerve pain, releases trigger points, and reduces inflammation. At the end of every massage I can literally feel my blood circulating again. I walk out of every appointment telling myself life is soooo good. My very first massage with Mavies was about 3 almost 4 years ago and still going strong! I'll have the best days and weeks, then stress myself out and come right back to him lol. He's always booked and sometimes I have to wait a month. Yes, I will absolutely wait a month for him. He deserves all the recognition. Honestly I want to keep him all to myself because he's that good, but he truly deserves the praise. Well I had such a pleasant experience here. Front desk employees are polite and efficient in customer service. Nya went way out of her way to help me with scheduling and suggestions which I truly appreciate. A great attitude goes a long way when your coming to a health facility. My massage therapist was Mavies. He was an instant vibe! I got a warm welcome. Right away he assessed me & wanted to know my posture, history & get to the root of my pain. He cared about my comfort & let me know about the human body, how & why things may get out of sorts or cause underlying issues. Didn't take long to knock and start working on me quickly ( I've had bad experiences with waiting up to 10-15 minutes to come back with other therapists at different location) . He released tension through my entire body. The next morning my neck finally cracked & the tightness loosened up greatly. In the process I got to know a little bit about him and I'm grateful to have him as my therapist. I look forward to my next session. Becareful of their door handle trying to exist the store. It is way too close to the doorjam where you can crush your hand inbetween while trying to open it. I would recommend maybe changing the verticle handle to a horizontal push. It could have ended badly if someone was on the other side of the door trying to pull with someones fingers getting caught inside. My hand hurts soooo bad. read more

This was my first time here and I was very apprehensive but I was really taken care of from the moment I walked in. Front desk staff was friendly and took me into as private area to enter me in their system and ask questions about my health and problem areas. She will go above and beyond to accomodate your massage needs and provide recommendations when needed as well. I was given a free service to make up for my previous experience and I had a fantastic time with Samantha, the session was the opposite of my first session. My masseuse was very open during the process and made sure I was comfortable. She even suggested things I could do to help with some of my chronic pain in my legs. Everyone is always so friendly and professional. I've never felt uncomfortable during my sessions or felt shorted on time. They always have plenty of slots available to schedule massages and have a high number of massage therapists to be able to get in quickly. They have a great variety of products to purchase in their lobby as well as add ons to your treatment. The waiting room area is small and cozy but you don't spend much time waiting. Every time I show up for my appointment I never have to wait longer than 5-10 mins as they are always prepared for me. Their bathrooms are always clean too, which is a plus! read more

I've been a client for 11 years. Best therapeutic masseuse I'd ever seen there or elsewhere has been Colin. My daughter and I have significant health issues that he has been the first to be able to address. My twice monthly 90 minute massage - that I cannot really afford - is the one thing I do for myself to maintain my mobility and reduce my pain, so I can continue working and somewhat participate in life. I book out as far possible in advance so I can secure my massage with Colin and schedule my multiple jobs around my massage. I had a confirmation yesterday morning for today's massage. Last night I had a message that Colin no longer works there (If anyone knows where Colin went, let me know.) and they need to reschedule me with a different masseuse and have cancelled my appointments that were booked through August! I am disgusted that I was not notified sooner so I could decide what to do, including if I will cancel my membership, and allow me to re-arrange my work schedule which has been arranged around my massage appointments. Deceptive business practices, beware they will lie straight to your face to get you locked up in a contract. I don't recommend this business. It's better to go to a spa where you know you will be paying a couple hundred for a treatment,. Instead of being told a service is for a specific amount that is covered by your monthly dues when you specifically inquired prior to signing up for the service contract. Then they act stupid and play the blame game, stating the aestheticians just suggests treatments and doesn't understand the price structure. You never see the same person at the front desk ( probably high turnover, due to deception to employees too) to recall a conversation. We were referred by someone that gifted us a facial treatment. We utilized the gifted treatment, got a regular facial. Skin looked great after, the aesthetician suggested microdermabrasion treatment for the next visit. When signing up after the initial treatment I specifically asked the women at the front desk if that service will be covered by the monthly dues and she stated yes, twice. We made the next appointment and left. We go to the appointment today and I was told there would be an additional $165 in addition to the $85 they already charged my card. I inquired and this time a different person at the front desk stated there is an additional charge for the service. When I told her that was deceptive since I inquired from the previous person if this service would be covered as part of the monthly plan and they said yes it would be. The front desk person today had the audacity to suggest it may have been miscommunication. This is a shady business in my opinion to stay away from this deceptive scam. read more

Let me start off with the caveat this poor rating is based on Customer Service and front desk staff. The masseuses have been just fine. My wife has been a member of Massage Envy for years. Her "home" location is out of this area because, like people do, we moved. Massage Envy will not allow her to transfer her home location so almost every visit she has to go around and round about who is going to contact the other location and whether she has to pay a transfer fee. This location seems to have frequent turnover with front desk staff and there have been scheduling issues as well as cancellation issues. For example, a massage was scheduled for this week but we got a cancellation text, which is fine. We called and the front desk staff confirmed the cancellation due to a conflict with the masseuse and did not offer a different masseuse or a new date/time. My wife has asked to talk to the manager several times and has gotten the run around from staff. All this to say, we will be cancelling the membership and going somewhere else that has better customer service. read more

Last week, I had a 60-min session with Liz in the Livermore location. This was the first time I've had her as a massage therapist. I booked the appointment via the mobile app (and actually a 90-min session) and selected her based on availability and pressure rating. Only minus one star because the app didn't have the massage therapist's time limits. It allowed me to select a 90-min session with Liz, even though she could only do 60 min. I'm not sure where the miscommunication was, but if Massage Envy is pushing the mobile app, the therapists' preferences should be accurate. I did get a call beforehand to inform me it would be 60 min though. That being said, Liz is a great massage therapist. She provided a thorough full-body massage session, and applied excellent pressure (i.e., deep pressure) in the areas I needed it. She verified she was using the pressure correctly when switching areas, and was very consistent in this. I'm the type of person who needs that deep pressure pretty consistently, so not every therapist will do it for me, but Liz certainly does! read more

Ok so im hesitant to write a review because i want to gatekeep this therapist for myself BUT that wouldn't be fair and that would be selfish to the many people who also need Mavies in their life! I've been coming to Massage Envy for about 4 years now and i've had some great therapists. My favorite therapist has moved and I was a little worried about trying someone new. HOWEVER, change can be good. I have serious chronic neck/shoulder pain, amongst many other areas I should be taking care of as well but I just don't. Mavies began our session with a visual exam and noticed some imbalance in my body right away. The actual treatment was the most medicinal i've ever experienced and worked through some very trouble pain i've been experiencing. A few years ago, I "splurged" with monthly massages. It was just a pampering thing for me. Then Covid hit and i ended up working from home in a seated position for way too long. My hips were in chronic pain, and I gained weight with the inability to move. Then I experienced Jerry. I had no idea how much better I could feel. Don't get me wrong... Jerry is unconventional, not your ordinary "shi shi" massage. It's more like intense physical therapy. After the first session, I went two weeks with no pain.... After a few visits, I started going longer and longer without pain. It's not "pampering" in the slightest... but I feel so much more mobile! After years of frustration with the Pleasanton location (They do have a couple of good massage therapists who are never available) and many lukewarm non-pressured massages that makes you want to shout 'just. stop. this. now!!', I booked an appt online with Colin in Livermore as his pressure range included everything to firm. At the location, my wait was a little longer than normal. I spoke to Colin about my big and pressing concerns & waited some more, I'd say almost 10 minutes had gone by. However, once the massage began, Colin focused on the exact problem areas the entire time. This massage was one of the best focused massages I have ever gotten. This was a real physical therapy with real results by the end of the hour. I recommend him highly & look forward to going back. read more

I have been a Massage Envy customer for YEARS. I was a customer before the pandemic, and then I became a customer again in 2021 once I felt more comfortable going back in. This location specifically has a couple of REALLY great therapists (who are booked months in advance because they're so good) and a handful of so-so therapists. To each their own. The reason for my 1-star review is the same reason I have IMMEDIATELY canceled my membership: an outrageously poor & even aggressive customer service experience. It was WILD. Keep reading. I was having a bad day and was really looking forward to a 90-minute massage I had scheduled WEEKS in advance. 2 hours before my massage, I got a phone call/text that the therapist had called out sick and they had to cancel or reschedule. This has happened to me at least 4-5 times since I've been a member here. I called the Livermore location to reschedule, and they told me the soonest they had available (except for with the massage therapists I reallllyyy didn't like) was 9 days away. I was rightfully upset! I've been waiting weeks for this appointment and now I have to wait another 1.5 weeks. I told the woman on the phone this was not the first time I'd been canceled on, I'd had a really hard day, and I was really upset about this cancellation. I told her I'm fine to book the appointment in 9 days but I would reallllly appreciate a credit to my account of some kind. She put me on hold because she "didn't have the authority" to make that decision. THE KICKER: When she got back on the phone, she proceeded to walk me through my entire cancellation history: "on November XX you canceled on us at 10am for an appointment the next day, on November XX you canceled at 9:30am, on October XX you canceled 2 days before your appointment", so on and so forth. This was her response to my disappointment with being canceled on!!! There are 2 reasons why my cancellation history as a customer does NOT matter: 1. Almost every time I've canceled, I've canceled within the parameters of THEIR cancellation policy (more than 24 hours before a massage) 2. If I have ever canceled within the same 24-hour period as my massage, I paid the full price for that massage. Essentially, she told me, "well you've done it to us before, so why should we give you anything for canceling on you?" I canNOT believe this customer experience!!! She even went so far as to ask me to "Stay calm" on the phone when I started getting upset that she was rattling all of my cancellations back to me. I had been a customer for YEARS and I probably would have been a customer for years to come, except they were unwilling to add a $15 enhancement or give me a "freebie" massage, even though they would have made thousands of dollars off me in the future. I have no idea if I am just the most unlucky Massage Envy customer or if my experience is similar to others. After a fabulous massage experience in March of this year, I was so pleased that I decided to sign up for a membership. Ever since then I have been plagued with cancellation after cancellation. I have been cancelled on 4/6 massages I have scheduled and all within 24 hours notice of the appointment. This is frustrating because it is hard to book appointments less that a few weeks out. So once I have been cancelled on, I then have to wait several more weeks to get in for my next appointment. I also have found that not all masseuses are of the high quality of my first one. I understand the times are hard and I would much rather have a masseuse cancel if they are not feeling well then work but I just feel that the membership is not worth it. I almost got cheated out of my money by an assistant manager when she didnt want to allow me to use 1 of my 9 massages that were already on my profile to gift to someone. Instead she said I would have to spend $145 if I wanted to gift a massage. After I left I was sitting in my car sharing my story with my husband when Taylor called to ask me if I still wanted to use of my already paid for massages for my friend. She was SUPER friendly and so helpful. She let me know that she had overheard the conversation and wanted to ensure that I was getting what I needed. Her calling me literally kept me from cancelling my membership after having been a customer for many years. They could use Taylor as a manager to help train others. Wanted to take the time to make a review, which I rarely do as I'm a bit hard to impress when it comes to massage. I came here because my mom goes here and recommended Angel. I took a chance of his service and I was amazed. For starters, I have a mess of a shoulder, specifically my trap muscles and I've had trouble finding a massage therapist who is actually able to relieve the pain I have from this spot. So you guys don't get the chance to book her LOL I will refer to her as "B." Over the last 10 years I have been using massage therapy to heal. I have done everything from Swedish, to deep tissue, to thai massage. Nobody in my experience can compare to the quality massage like "B" offers. When it comes to massage therapy she is a beast, she is on a whole Nother level. She can talk the talk and she can walk the walk.
