I'd never had a male massage therapist until today but he totally put me at ease with his perfect amount of pressure and perfectly sized hands that applied pressure evenly and in a strong yet soft way. Highly recommend him for people who like gentle, medium, or strong massage. To contrast, in the past at other places I've had massages by women with small, sharp hands and it felt jabby and painful. George was perfect! Also this location had a nice facility. The massage table was very comfortable, the face/head pillow adjusted for height and depth so your neck isn't strained, and the table was heated! I was excited to squeeze in a 1.5 hour couples massage this weekend. Unfortunately, I received a light massage. I had asked for a therapist who had a medium to firm touch. I got a better massage from a massage chair when I got my pedicure done the other day. The therapist NEVER asked me to see if the pressure was ok. The therapist, who my husband had asked him 3 times through the duration of his massage. My therapist only massaged my right foot but forgot the other one. The final kicker was that we didn't receive water at the end of the massage. It wasn't like I would have needed water to flush out toxins in my body since it was the lightest massage I have ever received. I would recommend trying out other locations. read more

I went with a friend to introduce him to the brand I had experienced at home and it was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was supposed to have a 60 minute massage and was shorted almost 20 minutes because he started late and rushed mine to get to the next person. The facial he received has him walking out with cleanser still on his face! The receptionist told management and I have yet to hear anything back... it's been over 2 months. Over many years I have frequented the Aventura, FL location and a Greensboro, NC location and again, always a pleasure. This location of Massage Envy is by far the friendliest, cleanest and most-welcoming with the absolute best therapists, aestheticians, front desk staff and owner-managers. I have been a member for more than 10 years and have visited locations in dozens of cities accross the US. The South Beach location feels like home. I have been treated by many of the therapists, and while I do have my favorites, every one of them is excellent, attentive and a pleasure. I would like to update this review and say that my issue was handled and resolved by Jeff. I received a phone call from him this evening after they were having some issues with their system to submit my payment for my membership. After he explained how the issue was going to be resolved I believe he showed TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE. In a business, it is all about communicating with your customers and he did an exceptional job communicating over with me his resolution and how he was going to handle reinstating my membership. Sorry - a let down. Nothing like the Boynton location. Not here to bash it, but after getting spoiled at a place with my experience of 3 very reliable therapists, I was disappointed - the therapist apparently works at Canyon Ranch, which I find interesting - unless she works on athletes. While i do need athletic, deep tissue massages, it was not comforting or soothing in the slightest. Also, did not appreciate the black and blue bruises on my thighs, shoulder blades and back. My resolution is to keep my reviews factual and to the point. Great location. I've been coming here for a year now off and on. If you are like me and don't want to sign another commitment membership, buy the three masages up front and you get them for the member rate. You have up to 3 months to use them and you can get the $39 in between month ones, as well. After the three months are up, that's it! But they are so good you'll probably want to buy 3 more again. I was here Saturday evening for 90 minutes* of heaven at the hands of Robert (or Richard... sorry, I was too relaxed to remember!) Since it was my first time, I got the introductory rate of $80, which I thought was a good deal. The front desk folks were friendly and explained all of the different packages you could get with a membership. They even told me I could pay with my HSA! BONUS! The room was dim and quiet and the massage table was heated - SCORE! Robert (we'll go with that) offered to adjust the heat setting, but it felt FANTASTIC! As for the massage itself, I felt it was the same quality as I get at Educating Hands for a significantly discounted price; however, you are paying here for a quiet and attractive setting with "extras" like the heated table and the hot towel rub-down before the massage. A few things I didn't like - scented massage lotion is $10! They give you whatever is leftover to take home, but it's a tiny amount. Also, I agree with the Yelper who mentioned the membership pushing. Before the massage, they were all friendly and "Hey, we have some great deals"... then when you are done, paying,relaxed and your brain is totally scrambled from bliss, they go in for the hard sell, "If you don't do it NOW, we won't waive the fee". I did not like that; it was definitely a stressful way to end things. *They mentioned that they allot 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after for disrobing / robing, but my massage seemed to go right up to the end. The membership is worth it if you're going to get your monthly massages. I just wish the cancellation policy was explained to me better. I understood I could cancel any time and that is not true. Another downside is the 60 minute massage is always closer to 45-50 min and the 90 min is more like 75-80 min. They take your time of undressing/redressing as part of that time, apparently. Those negative aspects aside, I have not been let down by any masseuse in this location. Oleg, Sebastian and Henderson have all been great. Nelson in particular did an AMAZING job! He listened to where I wanted him to focus and explained what he would do prior to starting. I wanted a deep tissue massage focusing on my neck and shoulders and he did just that for me plus some stretching in the process. Really a great experience. read more

This is the first time I've tried massage envy, and I had a really good experience at this location! I called right when they opened to book an hour appointment and they were able to get me in an hour later. The day that I came the lobby was under construction. The woman at the front desk gave me a 90 min massage with aromatherapy for the price of the regular hour massage for the inconvenience. The construction didn't bother me, but I really appreciate the good customer service. ASK FOR ABRAHAM! My massage from him was great! The room was very relaxing and he made sure to ask which areas to work on before starting. If you need hard pressure because of knots in your back, he's the person to ask for. The prices are a little confusing though... If you plan on signing up for a membership with them, your first hour massage will be $55. After you sign up it's $60 every month, you can either get a massage every month or save them and use them when you want. I will come back to this location when I'm in south beach :) read more

I called to book an hour massage and she said "that will be $150". As a prior member I was super confused. They bundle and up charge without asking. When she explained the breakdown the $150 includes $10 aromatherapy and a forced tip. I ALWAYS tip when I get massages but will not book somewhere that pre-charges a tip, especially in Miami. She said "we get a lot of tourist here" like that somehow justifies the charges. I've been to many massage envy locations around the country but would not recommend this one. read more

This review is more for management than anything else. I have been a member for years. Not only have I been a member for years but its not uncommon for me to have 8 massages in one month due to ongoing health issues. The masseuses have always been great, but management leaves a lot to be desired for. Without going into great detail, I attempted, and failed , to have the owner address a scheduling issue. Instead he has a receptionist handle his business. Shame on him and his arrogance at thinking that you should not handle your loyal customers with more care and consideration. Of course, I cancelled my membership and I have never felt better at leaving an establishment who cares so little for its loyal customer. I am only sorry I did not see this behavior before. Of course, I had heard about poor management and I witnessed excessive turnover rates, but I was stunned when it actually happened to me after many years. Hi, my experience at Massage Envy was terrible for several reasons: We were supposed to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a couples massage for 90 min. When we got there, the receptionist told us that since we are first time members, she can only take CASH ONLY. I thought this was weird because we were NEVER told to bring cash only, but I didn't have cash on hand, so I had to walk the streets of dangerous Miami Beach in the dark at 8:30pm to search for an ATM. I finally found one, and returned with the cash. Initially, I was told that I would get a discount and pay the introductory offer of 83 dollars for 90 min. However, Bc I returned at 8:45 (and they close at 10), I wasn't able to get the 90min and had to settle for 60min. This is when the receptionist proceeds to tell me that it will be 75 dollars! I read online that it was 55 dollars, not 75, for 60 min massages, but then she told me that the online info was incorrect and that it doesn't account for couples massages. Now to the couples massage---instead of one room where we are right next to each other, it was two rooms, and they just pulled back the separating barrier! What kind of BS is this?!? So I ended up being at least 10 feet away from my wife and couldn't enjoy her company. Next, the actual massages sucked! My wife stated that her Maseuse just elbowed her on her back and arms for the majority of the time and she actually felt worse AFTER the massage. I had a little better massage, but we started at 9:05 and he finished at 9:55. THAT's 50 minutes, not 60 min that I paid for! Plus, he focused on my shoulder joints, pressing down on the same tendon over and over, and spent only 5 min on my neck and head, which is what I specifically asked him to focus on. In the end, my experience at Massage Envy was terrible and dangerous. The location is in the middle of a sketchy area of Miami Beach, and that's exactly how the receptionist treated us. Their policies are ridiculous. A friend gave me a much-needed gift card for a massage, and I booked a day and time. That morning, I felt extremely ill, and I called HOURS in advance to try and reschedule. The lady told me they'd have to charge me 50% of the cost of the massage, which I knew was the policy, but I told her I was nauseous and there was still plenty of hours that they could have rebooked that time slot. I ended up not going because I felt too sick, and the time and effort my friend took to get the gift card from was wasted. I very much understand why their policies are in place, but what if you physically can't make it? They strike me as greedy and I've been looking for a place to get myself massages every once in a while, but obviously this isn't it. I had incredibly poor experience with the manager Laura at this location. I was advised that my account was blocked because I had not left a suggested gratuity for my previous massage. The service I had received that time was extremely horrific and I thought I was in my right to tip accordingly. Now before booking my next massage, Laura is bartering with me. She instructed that I cannot receive and appt until I make a "deal" with her. I think this way of doing business is extremely unprofessional. I have had the most horrific treatment by Laura, the manager. She was rude, lying and wasted my time. I had booked an appointment online because I couldn't get thru on the phone. I was on hold for more than 15 minutes. When I got there after spending considerable money on Uber they said I had no appointment. I had a screen shot of the appointment. Laura denied I had an appointment even after I texted her the screen shot. She was one of the rudest managers I have ever encountered and should be removed. Great one-hour massage, time flies during the massage, you wish it could last forever. They are a little bit long to get you ready. You get to your massage room 15-20 minutes after the time of your appointment. The hour is 5 minutes of talk with the masseur, 50 minutes of massage, 5 minutes to dress/get ready. In all reality, the massages are OKAY. Yes they technically get the job done and yes I guess you are getting a "deal" but who gets a massage every month? They are extremely pushy for memberships and what really turned me off was the tip situation. Okay so the "original" price for a massage is $78 (member price $49). Let's calculate what a 20% tip would be even on the original amount... $15.60. Now tell me why they advise people to leave a minimum of $15 and suggest a scale to like 20 or 25. That is absurd. Then, my membership expired and no one called me to tell me this but I knew that I had 30 minutes left (because I canceled an appointment once so I had only 30 minutes left of a massage) and when I went into my appointment at the Massage Envy in South beach (my original membership was at the midtown location) they told me to go into my massage and then they would call the location in midtown and clear everything up so that I would only be billed for 30 minutes. I came out of my massage and they told me that the manager from the midtown location wasn't there and that I would have to pay $78 and clear it up with them later. No, sorry, that definitely wasn't going to happen. Of course I made a big deal because it should have 1. Been handled prior to my massage or 2. Just look up my account and see I have 30 minutes and charge me for the remaining 30 minutes but by no means should I have had to pay the full non-member price. Then she told me I could pay $49. It honestly sounds like a scam to me. If I didn't make a big deal, I would have had to pay the $78 and that's not fair that prices can change. Honestly, including the absurd tips and ridiculous rules, you are better off saving two months of what you would spend on a mediocre massage at Massage Envy and spend it wisely at a 5 star spa in a hotel. I am currently a ME member and recently moved to Miami from Dallas TX. And while most of my Massage Envy experiences in TX were mediocre at best (service, as well as therapist competence), I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this location. The front desk associates are always super friendly and attentive. And the best part of my massage visits, is of course, my AMAZING therapist, Danielle!!!! If you're an active person or into athletics/sports and need your muscles stretched and those knots released, then Danielle is your girl! She successfully blends a relaxing experience with a stretching session based on where she feels muscle tightness. I always feel so invigorated and relaxed when I leave. The wait is over! There is finally a massage envy in South Beach! I've been calling since before November 1st, the date I was told they were originally supposed to open, and was only recently able to book an appointment last weekend for their first day of operation, December 19th. The location is awesome - right across from Macy's and only a few steps from Lincoln Road. Plenty of parking - if you consider the garage across the street. The staff was very friendly when I called and when I arrived. The space is kinda small and there is no member's lounge - just some plastic chairs up front. I do like that they're open late - til 10 PM during the week and til 9PM on the weekends. Great place to go after a long, stressful day at work! My masseuse, Josie, was great! If you like firm to deep tissue, this is your girl! The day after, it really feels like she made a difference on my muscles. The rooms seemed smaller than at other locations I've visited and the music cut out for little bit during the massage. First day jitters, I guess. I discovered it feels really awkward for someone to be rubbing you down without some kind of musical distraction. The walls also seemed thinner - I could hear a lot of voices and noises outside. But maybe it was because my room was towards the front where the lobby is. When I left, some of the staff seemed a lot more aggressive than usual about booking my next appointment and using the extra sessions I have from being a member. Not sure I liked that. I don't like to make appointments so far out because my schedule is likely to change before then. The location and the quality of the massage is what pushed this place up to four stars instead of three. Long story short, I'll be back. read more

Too corporate to be relaxing. They always try to push the membership on you, which is not a bad deal (for them) . I was asked three times in ten minutes upon checking in and three times at check out if I wanted to become a member: that's a bit too aggressive for my taste and so is insisting that you book your next appointment, and they don't tell you that if you cancel they charge you the full price of the treatment. Like when you buy a car , at Massage Envy everything is an option, including the heated towel, that is a standard in the practice. Furthermore, the actual treatment time is less than you pay for: my 4:30 PM appointment actually started at 4:40 and ended apt 5:55, when it was for 90 minutes The location is very convenient and the therapists (at least the ones I encountered) are good, but the experience tends to be aseptic and not as pleasurable as it should be. I only go when my regular guy is not available and I am in extreme pain. read more

As a member, you can't beat the price. The therapists here are usually good, some are better than others. This is a no frills place - you go in, get the massage and come out. If you aren't looking for a spa type environment, then this is the place to go. It is always busy, but they have plenty of appointments, on the weekends and at night. read more

My husband and I scheduled a COUPLE'S MASSAGE here at Massage Envy and were really looking forward to a relaxing time together, during our visit to Miami. However, we had a terrible experience at this place! After arriving 15 minutes early (at 8:45) and filling out our paperwork, they took my husband back first at about 9:00. When I reminded them we were here for a couples massage and we'd be going back together, they told me my therapist was with another client and would be out shortly and she'd take me back to join him. Okay, seems strange to take us back at different times, but okay. After several minutes had passed while I sat there alone, the girls at the front desk must have sensed my irritation, so they kept assuring me I'd still get my full hour. I told them i wasn't concerned about them starting late but more so that my husband was sitting in a room alone and I was sitting out in the waiting room.....when we booked the appointment to have a relaxing evening together. If we wanted to be separate, we would've scheduled separate appts. After 15 minutes had passed, I asked if my husband's massage had already started....and they said, no, he was just back there laying on a table, waiting for me. What?!?! Why did they even take him back and have him undress, only to just lay there alone for 15 minutes?! So strange. When my therapist finally came out, she apologized and said she didn't know I was here. Uhhhh....isn't there a procedure in place to let the therapists know their client has arrived? Again, so strange. But then, when she took me back.....she led me into a room that only had one bed. I reminded her I was here for a couple's massage and she said yes, she knew, and that after I changed, she'd open this side door that opened up to the room next to it. Are you kidding me?!?! This place is absolutely ill equipped for a couples massage and should never be promoting such a service. Because once they opened the door, my head was at one end of my room and his head was at the other end of his room, so we couldn't even see each other. And forget about ever even hearing each other! And yes, I get that it's a massage and you're not really chatting but it would have been nice to occasionally lift my head and be able to at least make eye contact and mutter a word here or there. But nope, we might as well have been in separate rooms on different sides of the building. During my massage, my therapist (I can't remember her name) kept telling me she was trying to make it right for being late to my appt and I feel like she was sincerely trying her best but....I have never had a more uncomfortable massage! She found some sort of knot in my back early on in the massage and continually dug her elbow into the same spot over and over again. I told her time and time again that it was too hard and it was hurting in that spot. So she'd go elsewhere on my back but then return to that same spot and dig her elbow in and then hold it there with constant pressure, into a very sore spot. I would tense up and would then tell her it was hurting and she'd push slightly less but would keep her elbow directly in that same spot. It became so awkward that she wasn't listening to me that I just kind of tried to breathe through it, hoping that it would end up being beneficial. But after leaving, and for the entire next day, I was so sore that when I'd raise my shoulder or even lift my arm on that side.....I had intense pain! She bruised that muscle along my spine so badly. While massaging the rest of my body, nothing felt good or relaxing at all. I felt like she was rushing everywhere because she had focused on my back for so long. She barely even touched my neck or head and never even touched my feet. It was just the strangest massage and was so incredibly uncomfortable. And to top it off, I left the waiting room at 9:15 and the therapist finished my massage and left at 10:08. So even after the receptionist assured me over and over to not worry, that I'd be getting my full hour, I just laughed when I saw the clock. (I get it....changing clothes takes time, but it was comical that she made a point to say I'd be getting a full hour massage at least 3 different times. But nope, sure didn't happen.) After dressing and walking out front to pay, the girl at the front desk asked if we wanted to leave a tip. (Which is so awkward. Just give me the receipt and let me write it in. Don't ask and require me to tell you while you're sitting there staring at me! ) I didn't feel like any sort of tip was appropriate for my service ($100 was way overpriced for what I received, so it was hard enough to fork over that much), .....but my husband paid a tip for his "okay" service. When I declined to give a tip for my massage, the girl at the front desk rolled her eyes and acted disgusted. Wow!! If you are really looking for a professional deep tissue massage and strong stretching, your man is Abraham. 20 years of experience can't lie and I can attest it. I went there damned day full of stress that decided leaving my work around 1 pm and I have asked for "whoever" was available and really?! I won.
