He is outstanding! With every visit I leave feeling much better than when I arrived. I've got spinal issues in my cervical spine and lower lumbar area and I believe that a combination of him and my chiropractor have permitted me to avoid surgery and live a fairly pain-free life. If you want a reasonably priced monthly massage, this is a true value. And, I believe they don't get any better than Josue in terms of competence and personality. read more

Cruel Service Left Me in Tears A muscle disorder brought me in so LOUIS could give me the worst massage experience of my life. He smelled of cigarette smoke, entered the room without knocking as I just laid naked on the table and was flippant about my concerns. He sort of poked at my shoulders, didn't seem to know how to use the hot stones and barely pressed on my muscles. The worst massage ever! If I request a deep tissue massage, I shouldn't have to ask the therapist twice to go deep! Doris was my therapist and from the beginning she looked me up and down without a warm welcome, her hands were super cold! She never massaged my feet, my hands and barley touched my neck! This was more of getting a oil rubbed down than a massage! How do you walk out of a massage still with tension? I was expecting a spa-like experience, but this was not the case. So, if you're expecting someone to offer you a drink, take you to a locker room to store your clothes and belonging, and give you a robe, then go elsewhere. As I came in, the lobby was tranquil, and I completed the usual "pre-massage" form with the legal liability waiver. I was introduced to the "waiting area" inside the massage corridor. This is where I noticed that there was no locker room (minus one star). I had a good massage, but the therapist was anxious. She spoke really fast and seemed to be in a hurry. This is the opposite of what I expected from a massage therapist. During the massage, I had to keep telling her to lessen the pressure, which she eventually did after my telling her three times. When the massage was over and she left (post-massage), the door was open when I opened my eyes. This was quite the shock since I wasn't dressed!!! I had to get off the bed (undressed), holding the sheet against my chest, and kick/shut the door myself! And, it flung open again. So, I learned that it was a wonky latch, but it erased all the relaxation I had experienced during the massage. It's too bad there wasn't a shower or a clean up station/robes for comfort or relaxation post-massage (minus one star). I'm not sure I want a membership; I like a spa experience. I think this is a great place if one needs massages regularly or wants them regularly but isn't looking for a spa experience i.e. sports massage, reflexology, pre-natal massage, and medically related massages. It's been months since I got a massage and finally found a place I could get into. Got a 2 hour massage here recently and it was good, considering that I booked last minute and most places had a two week waiting list. What I like about the place was it was located in a tucked away and small non descript part of a busy strip mall, so parking was easy to find. Lobby was nicely decorated and front desk staff nice enough. My masseuse was a nice young lady with very firm hands and she put a lot of work into my neck and back issues. If you're expecting a full spa experience, don't, this is a massage membership type of place. Know that you basically come in disrobe and lay down and get your massage. For under $200 it's a good deal in the Galleria/Uptown area. read more

This review is specifically for the massage therapist Amy. I love this place and I've used several of the others and they do a great job, but I wanted to try someone new just to mix it up. I regretted it immediately. First off she just stared at me in the waiting room rather than calling my name out because "her English is bad" um ok well maybe try? That was weird then I told her I wanted light to medium and she was so hard on me she left me with bruises covered on my back. I told her a dozen times that hurts that's too hard please stop you're hurting me and she wouldn't! I had to physically move to get her to stop because she wouldn't listen to me and kept telling me I had knots. I will NEVER use her again. I don't care what your English is like you need to understand the words that hurts, ow, please stop, please be softer. Unacceptable in so many ways. I went because I read all these glorious reviews. But the massage was one of the worst I've had in Houston. My masseuse, even though she tried hard, which is why the two stars, did not know the meaning of deep tissue, nor did she know about pressure points. This place is like a chain, like Massage Envy, and you get chain-massage. Houston being a huge cosmopolitan place, if you want a deep tissue, try an Asian place. Also, like Massage Envy this place tries to capture you with membership and monthly massage. I would have no problem though with monthly massage if they knew how to massage. read more

I've have a membership with Massage Heights for years now but this takes the cake for worst experience. When I went to my appointment on Wednesday Margarita called my name to come back but never said hello or come this way, nothing. So she finally comes through the door and I followed her to the room, mind you she still hasn't said a word to me. We got in the room, she asked what pressure I wanted, said lay down & left. When she returned she tossed the towel on the back of my head and proceeded to give me the worst one move (only did one rub on my upper body like she was rubbing lotion on me) massage I've ever had to the point where I left 20 mins into my 90 min massage. We were getting massages for my birthday and this completely messed up my experience. I felt b/c we used a Groupon we were treated differently. They altered our accommodations so we had to be in separate rooms and I didn't get the promised hot stone elevations. Even my massage therapist had issues with the front desk on me receiving my elevations that were included. We Will not be returning to this location. Don't be fooled by the relaxing ambience in the waiting area, the actual massage facility inside is like a mad house. I don't know what's going on with this location but the walls are very thin and I can hear everything going on outside. The folks outside talking to each other as if people aren't paying money trying to relax inside. My masseuse was one of the better one I've had at this location. I've come to realize with these massage chain is that the focus is more on getting the job done rather than actually making sure the customer is relaxing. They're more aggressive than the ones I received at the high end place. Parking lot can be a bit hard to find since they're sharing it with other retailers in the plaza. My first massage experience was simply amazing thanks to Massage Heights. All of the locations offer an introductory rate of $50 for a Swedish or Deep-Tissue massage (regular price $80 for non-members). When booking your appointment, you do have to give your credit card information but they won't charge on this card. This information is simply to hold your appointment and charges are applied if you don't show up or cancel very close to your appointment time. When we arrived, the receptionist was very attentive and offered us water as we completed the form. Make sure to arrive about 10 minutes early, so you can actually get the full hour of massage you are paying for. On to the actual massage: My friend and I got the deep-tissue massages together and my masseur was Philip and my friend's was Ronaldo. They were both professional and asked us some basics before our massage. First, we received the aromatherapy, which i think is a joke because it was a mere 2-second sniff of the oils from the palm of his hands. Unlike the aromatherapy, the actual massage was amazing! He made sure to work out all my knots and relieve the stiffness that was there. The entire massage was so soothing and it was as if I was drowning in an endless bliss. Too bad it was only an hour long...Everyone deserves a massage once in a while and this is definitely a place to try! read more

I had an OK massage / experience... I've had healthier experiences. The front desk staff was not calm in demeanor and made me feel weird (they were not detailed, but short and pushy) over phone and upon arrival. Moreover, they did not know basic directions to give me over the phone, nor did they come across well-mannered, detailed, or warm like the other Massage Heights locations in the area did as I called several to see who could take me w/ short notice, last night. I remember having to call back about a detail not explained. None the less, I went w/ them for a 6 p.m. apt. Upon entering at 6 p.m. AND exiting at 7 p.m. the refreshments were empty in the lobby (a full hour had gone by) - this made the atmosphere cheerless as you want to have liquids to hydrate/give detail to your business. Plus, you're paying for a hospitality / luxury type service; thus, it's expected to have. In addition, the lobby was somewhat full of patrons on waiting area sofas. They wanted me to fill out paperwork and implied that my massage had already started, thus I was losing massage time. This made me anxious and I did not go into the massage w/ the peaceful feeling one should have. The masseuse actually told me the massage is only 50 min. so no worry needed. I told her well that does not match the communication that the front desk is sending to the public, (unfortunate customer service I implied). What's more, before meeting the masseuse I had to use the restroom and asked front desk that the masseuse please meet me in the lobby so I could start the massage straight away, when I came back from using the rr there was no masseuse! I thought that was just flat out ignoring my request! The massage itself was ok, I've had better. I do feel better today, it has helped my posture. I did make a comment to the masseuse towards the beginning that more pressure could be applied. I've never done that before... She did not seem as heartfelt as other masseuses I've had, but maybe she was just worn-out. It was an evening apt. I will stick to the River Oaks or Weslayan sites based on the customer service alone I find over the phone w/ them. My mother enjoys visiting the River Oaks location for its close location to home. Lastly, I know that these are all franchises; thus, I like to think that the employees reflect ownership over each. After a move from a different city and many many many massages across the globe, I was in desparate need of a massage. My left leg and hip had been bothering for a few weeks. A numb pain. I broke down and last minute called Massage Heights at 6:45 pm.A pleasant voice on the other end of the line. Super helpful. Responsive and efficeint. So I had a positive vibe going in. And then I met my therapist. She did a 1/2 smile/ greet and guided me back to the room. Led me in, asked what areas I was having trouble with. I was specific to areas I'd like worked on (inner and outer IT band, anterior and medial shin)...I got a blank stare and with a ..."soo your leg right?" Uhh sure if that was confirmation you understood. She then said ok, I'll be right back.assuming it wasn't my first massage and I knew I needed to get undressed and hop on to the table... othewise I'd have been like.. ok so I'll just wait for ya! She starts with a wonderful aromatherpay of lavendar and eucalyptus. And then it just went down hill from there. I am a small woman, but I like an effective massage. So while the pressue was good... the massage was horrible. It was rough and actually caused more tension and anxiety than when I went in. I really wanted to relax and like it. Nails are ok, but when they dig into your skin at a very abrupt, fast pace, it's the most uncomfortable feeling ever. i have scratch marks all over my body. I thought ok she's just rubbing the oils on...NOPE. It felt so rushed i couldn't find my zen. I did tip $10 as i know people go in and tip next to nothing, but the receptionist that checked me out said "so how was everything?" my response: "ok" She asked if I'd be coming back... no I don't think i will be. "UH ok what happened?" My response was well it just wasn't that great to tell you the truth. Silence. When people are given the chance to correct a problem, she is silenced. Hmmm interesting. Anyway. Facial was good but the esthetician seemed a bit condescending and cold. At first she was trying to say that I might not be able to get the hydra facial because I use retinoids regularly, then she continued to negatively talk the whole time about retinoids and how retinoids are strong and remove two layers of your skin. Disappointing. The first thing I told my massage therapist is to not skip body parts. Although I did cut into his time when I requested an elevation, he ended the massage with 4 minutes on the clock and not ever having touched my shins or quads. When I requested that he do my legs, he said that by company policy he could only go mid thigh. He rushed through it and stilling after doing so there were still 2 minutes left on the clock! I did confirm the mid thigh policy was true -- but it is specific to that location (the one I normally go to will massage your entire leg, glue, and thigh without issue). This is truly disappointing - in their zeal to avoid any allegations of misconduct they are delivering a substandard product. How are you supposed to address the lower back if you you can't massage the psoas muscle? Substandard massage, shorted time on the clock , will not come to this location again. read more

Today i walked into massage heights because I thought a 50 buck massage was a good deal -- didn't expect much. and then i met Isaac who gave me the best deep tissue massage I've had south of Chicago. Great pressure, knew how hard to push without making me cry, amazing hands, i could go on and on and on. I loved it so much that i actually took a 6 month membership on the spot but best of all, they didn't push a sale AT ALL! I booked a same day appointment in the morning on Feb 14th. Yes, I know it's Valentines day, and it is THE BUSIEST day for LMTs everywhere. It also was my first day off since moving so I thought I would take a chance and just see if they had any single client openings. When I called I asked if they happened to have a time available for a deep tissue massage. I made sure to mention on the phone that if they did not have someone who does deep tissue I would much rather wait and book a different day. The receptionist assured me that the therapist I would be seeing did do deep tissue massage. Fast forward to my arrival... I showed up 15 min early to fill out my paper work. As I was filling it out I could here the two receptionists behind the counter talking about "members" they were annoyed by and even used profanity. As someone in the wellness industry myself I thought this was VERY off putting. I get it, sometimes clients suck (I bet you think I do now) but it is beyond unprofessional to speak about clients while there is a brand new one sitting mere feet from you. I then asked to use the restroom and instead of being show where it was by one of the two girls at the front they sent me back down some windy hallway and I had to stop someone walking and have them direct me. Obviously this wasn't a huge concern but it was just very awkward. I would've expected to be shown where it was since this was my first visit and then of course after that I should remember where the rest room is. So now on to the real kicker, the "massage" itself. When my therapist came up she called me "Kathy", not my name but whatever... she did not introduce herself and then took me back to the room. The therapist asked if I wanted an aromatherapy add on, which is a nice touch. I chose lavender. The very first thing I mentioned was that I requested deep tissue and I would like focus on my upper body primarily neck and shoulders. She responded that she doesn't "really do deep but I'll try." She told me to stop her if it was not deep enough, I agreed (although in the 100s of massages I have had I have never ended one early). She didn't ask me anything about myself or my body/issues I wanted to address. She left and I began to disrobe. This is where the really poor experience began. As I was getting ready to get on the table I started to hear loud, and I mean LOUD banging on the ceiling. I waited a moment and it continued. It was so loud that I felt tense...it was literally like a hammer on the ceiling. As I laid face down on the table trying to relax I also heard two people laughing loudly outside the room, and doors slamming. I figured I'd wait it out....maybe it was the top of the hour and the hallways were busy? I figured it wasn't so bad yet that I didn't want to proceed with my session. When the therapist came back in the room I asked if she could turn up the sound machine. She agreed but said "is it too loud in here for you?" She went on to tell me that there was lots of construction being done in the space above and that it would be loud like that the whole session. Then the massage started. I am not kidding when I say I had scratched all over my left scapula from this therapist digging her nail into my scapula over and over...this is NOT deep tissue. It was painful to the skin but somehow the pressure was still light. It was the strangest technique I have ever received. I let it go for about 5 min and then told her I just couldn't relax with the banging going on. She said she would be right back, and left the room. At this point when she returned she said just tell me if you want to end early" I waited through maybe 3 more moments of nail digging and banging and decided I couldn't do this for an hour. It would be a waste of both my time and her time. After I got dressed and was about to leave room I noticed a note that had been slid under the door for the therapist. It read "comp free hot stones for client." I mean you couldn't pick that up and take it with you? It was embarrassing. As I was leaving the manager asked me if I wanted to see another therapist who would be available in ten min, I declined. At that point the idea of restarting was just not something I wanted to do. Anyway I didn't raise a stink, I tipped 10 bucks at the front and left. I hoped for some sort of follow up phone call or for the manager to reach out but it has been two weeks and nothing. To me that is horrible customer service. All and all it was terrible. The situation could've easily been remedied by telling me there was construction and that there could be noise during the session and matching me with an actual deep tissue therapist. Overall it was just poorly run, I would not recommend this company but specifically this location to anyone. Total waste of time and energy. Be good to every client, even the new ones, it goes a long way. read more
