Best massage I've ever had! I've only had 2 but this was incredible!! My body feels like it's not even here anymore! I just finished a 240-mile hike and needed a massage for my hardworking muscles, so I found this place on Yelp. I saw photos of their $85 first timer rate so I called to book. Spoke to Ken on the phone who was very nice. I called late at night but was able to book an appointment for the next morning! He said that the $85 rate is old, and the new first time rate is $120, BUT he still hooked me up with a sweet discount! They do take your card info when you book an appointment because there's a $50 no-show fee btw When I arrived, I filled out a form that helped cater the massage to my needs. Ken (who was even more hospitable in person!) answered all my questions and was super friendly. The whole vibe of the place was very welcoming: incense burning, water and fruit available, light music playing. The sheets were also very soft! Sylvia did my massage and she was incredible! Very strong and good amount of pressure. Very communicative and responsive to my needs. I'm very ticklish, so she adjusted to accommodate my sensitive places. I had forgotten that my neck had been hurting me a while ago, but she could tell! She got out all the knots and right areas, and now I feel reborn! This is a tiny hole in the wall spot in a plaza and you can definitely find same quality for half price. Also, the ambiance is really lacking. I really enjoyed my message though. I'm pretty ticklish so sometimes it's hard for me to find someone that applies enough pressure to avoid that. The hot stones aren't great here definitely not worth the add on. The. Best. Honestly, look no further, because right here is home of the best massage in LA. The ambiance is soothing, the team is extremely attentive, and the overall vibe is definitely relaxing. Oh, and there's parking lot so no need to stress with that before coming in. What a gem! I stumbled upon Massage in LA by luck and immediate need - I was having excruciating muscle spasms in my upper back and the R&R recommended by my Doctor simply wasn't cutting it. I called wanting to make a same-day appointment for their soonest availability and luckily they were able to get me in for their next appointment at the time. 20 mins after my call I was already on the massage table. Check in was a breeze thanks to Ken. He really made me feel at ease and welcomed - so it was already off to a good start! Really appreciated being accommodated, and he set the tone very well. I got a deep tissue massage with hot stones, which Haining did so well. She really focused in on my upper back concerns and was incredibly attentive to my reactions to see where my pain was and how to address it. She was also communicative and seemed concerned about my pain in a way that she really wanted to help alleviate it. Gotta say she did exactly that and I did feel better than when I came in. On checkout, I decided to opt in for their Membership, which is basically pre-paying for your next appointment. I was so impressed with Massage in LA and knew I needed a few more follow-up sessions to resolve my spasm issues so it was a no-brainer. The membership rate is so well priced! It can also be used towards other services (like facials) and you get 3 complementary "add-ons" per year (see picture). What really sold me is the fact that the member rate will apply to any service. I no longer have to feel guilty about treating myself to a massage, AND I can indulge myself whenever I feel the need! That's exactly what I've been doing - I've had 2 additional massage sessions and 1 facial in the short time since signing up. It really can't be beat! I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any masseuse here. I had Elizabeth for my 2nd deep tissue session and I just looooved her style. The masseuses are equally professional and outstanding, no matter what type of massage or pressure you prefer. For me, they're centrally located halfway between my home and business, so getting to my sessions is a breeze. My only regret is not having started this practice sooner. I arrived 6 minutes before my 11am appointment which seems reasonable considering they usually have you fill out a form on your first visit to a massage place - why do I know it was exactly 6 min you ask? When I arrived the doors were locked and no one was there so I called the number on the door and was greeted by someone who let me know my massage was "in 6 minutes and someone would be there by then". I got off the phone and went back down to my car - it was 96 outside and had been over 100 the day before and I wasn't going to get hot and grumpy waiting. I get a call around 11 asking me where I am and saying they're ready for me, so I tell them I had to wait in my car with the air conditioner. I go upstairs and walk in, and it is at least 80+ degrees inside because no one had been there to get the facility ready for any guests earlier than my actual start time. I have to fill out a form so my massage time already is starting late. I request a deep tissue massage with a lot of pressure focusing on my neck and shoulders. Once in the massage room it was really small but not really an issue once you're laying down. However the temperature of inside made it hard to relax and the music kept skipping, turning off completely, and my massage therapist's phone went off 4 times throughout the massage with the sound on for text messages and a phone call. This was already making it even more difficult for me to relax and let my mind go. I am not hard to please when it comes to a massage, but this was not like any massage I have ever had. The therapist dug their fists and elbows with as much pressure as they possible could into my back running up and down either side of my spine over and over and over. My neck and shoulders did not really get the attention I asked for and the massage style was maybe swedish? It's not the pressure i minded it was the lack of technique in its application. I'm on day 2 after the massage and have bruises on my butt and the left side of my neck has actually gotten stiff and sore to where I can't turn it fully that way. In addition to all that there were several times I felt very exposed because the sheet wasn't kept tucked around me during the massage. At several points i felt like my breast was fully exposed which at the end of the massage I looked down to see that it mostly was. Another time my knees where kept elevated while on my back and they tried to have my knees apart to massage my lower legs and feet but again felt very exposed. The front desk woman seemed nice at the end but asking me how my massage was in front of the masseuse and another client isn't going to yield an honest answer. I also provided this feedback privately the day of my massage on the online form and never heard back so here I am sharing my experience. read more

Not a good experience. I booked the 60 minute massage on classpass. Upon my arrival, they told me they didn't see this appointment on their schedule. Ken did not know how to access the new classpass bookings and therefore wasn't able to refund me my credits. I could have used those 44 credits on a massage somewhere else that day. Instead, he told me he would contact me today and did not so I called them instead. He didn't remember our interaction on Saturday even tho he took a note to call me today. I ended up reaching out to classpass myself and explained the situation and they refunded me my credits. I wasted money ubering to and from this appointment as well. Although it was my birthday, I actually don't always like fancy massage places like Burke Williams or hotels because I feel like I'm paying for stuff that doesn't matter to me --like saunas and jacuzzis and a waiting room filled with biscuits and cucumber water. Karen did a great deep tissue massage and was so good at finding things that I didn't even know were hurting... but I have to say I was surprised by her inclusion of hot stones and Thai therapy, like climbing on my back and stretching. And so much time spent on hot stone management! :) But I decided to be open to the experience and I'm glad I did! I think next time I'll just be clearer on my preferences. Karen was kind, kept conversation to a minimum and also worked hard to keep me covered (modesty!) which I appreciated. Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, the music skips. Yes the room is small.
