My first massage here. Came in last night as I had been super ill with Ozempic poisoning and had been in bed for almost 3 days when I wasn't being actively ill. Every part of me was achy and sore. Laughing hurt. I was feeling well enough to finally go outside and called Massage Villa. She could intuitively feel where things hurt on me and gently worked out the muscles without hurting me. My back even cracked - without her doing anything to crack it- as my muscles relaxed and it fell back into place. It was kind of a miracle, because within 30 mins I walked out with no pain. I for sure would come here again and do a longer massage. The establishment was fairly barebones, but nice enough and the massage was better than any I have had in a long time. Had a lovely 60 minute massage here! They can get pretty busy with walk ins so I highly recommend making an appointment so you don't have to wait. I checked in for my appointment and was taken back within a few minutes. They did kind of leave me hanging out for a bit before they came to start the service but it wasn't too long. The massage itself was exactly what I needed. I'd been dealing with some neck and back pain and the masseuse knew exactly where to work to ease the tension. It was also fairly inexpensive ($60) because this place it pretty much no frills but for what I needed, it was perfect. The walls are pretty thin so you could hear everything including people walking in at the front so it's not the kind of place to go if you want a real peaceful and spa-like experience. My friend called at 10a and we were accommodated for an afternoon appointment same day on a weekend. The good: - seems pretty clean - massage was decent - no stinky scents used with massage oils - kind staff - massage rooms have relaxing music playing - has a restroom in the way back - parking lot in the back - free 2 hr street parking in front of store - they take Venmo and credit cards with a $3 fee added-on - prices are decent - comfy 2 single sofas in waiting room The not so great: - not sure if the lady was the owner but initially was welcoming and told to wait a second but then after a few minutes just got super impatient O_O especially after having to clarify what we had seen we'd wanted - we wanted the couples massage but the lady told me we couldn't get it, and yet an hour later they had some other couple have one booked :/ - won't honor Yelp check in deal (seemed really unclear as to the stipulations and just said No) -- why not update it on the site?! - won't honor any specials on the Yelp or website on weekends (apparently!? But again, this isn't clear) - $3.00 charge for credit cards - so steep - masseuse kept going in and out of room to greet people -- uhhh what?! - thin walls / doors and could hear lots of outside noises making it more difficult to relax - waiting room only tiny enough for 2 people to sit Overall, didn't feel very welcomed at this place and more transactional. Then her phone rang twice that she had actually picked up and talked. Not only that stopped to read and respond to text. Obviously I was NOT relaxed but I don't think I should make it an excuse for being a one man team. $70 for 4+ interruptions is unacceptable. This back... had knots for days! DAYS! I definitely need to get massages waaaay more often then I do. BUT... Jennifer W hooked me up! She seriously massaged the hell out of my back. It felt so good that I think I started snoring! I know because I woke myself up from it... embarrassing, yes. The massage stated that it would be a deep tissue but it was more of deep tissue and Swedish massage combination. Honestly, this worked fine for me since I probably wouldn't have survived anything too painful. I've been coming to Massage Villa roughly once or twice a month for the past year and have never had a bad massage. You also can't beat the pricing - I reference their "online special" which is $40 for a one hour Swedish massage with hot stones. They also have Yelp specials throughout the year (I went just yesterday for a 75 minute deep tissue massage for $45). I do not have a go-to therapist but every massage has been spot on. As long as you go in with managed expectations, you'll be good. Some reviewers mention the noise - yes the walls are very thin. But usually there are like a max of four people in the entire business so noise hasn't been an issue for me on most visits. I do hear the occasional person whispering in hushed tones or walking by the room but that never bothered me much. Plus, you get your own massage room, as opposed to the other similarly-priced places in the area where the only thing separating you and the next customer is a bed sheet. I had my first massage since COVID began and it's just not the same. The masseuse wears these plastic gloves when giving the massage and it just doesn't feel the same at all, in fact, it's annoying to hear the rubber while you're getting rubbed down. This place specifically leaves the door to the room open and you can hear everything in the hallway; shoes clacking against the wood floor, people laughing and talking and things being dropped on the floor. At the end, I was so confused as to how to pay. I was pleasantly surprised by this place . It was my first time here, Jennifer took care of me. I got the 70 minute massage with hot stone and scrub for $60. I Undressed and lied under the sheet facedown. Then Jennifer came in and began massaging me with her elbow from shoulder down to my feet after she worked out my knots. Then she started scrubbing/ exfoliating. It was my first scrub. This place is open! It's hard to find places for a massage during Covid times. I was able to call and book an appointment within half an hour. I woke this morning with severe shoulder pain. I think I slept wrong on my left side. The pain was so bad that it hurted so much to raise my arm and even drive. I told my masseur how much pain I was in, in fear that the area would be especially sensitive and tender to the massage. I kind of didn't want it touch and needed to guard it. My lady was really nice. And if anything focused more on my left shoulder. She wasn't too harsh and if anything I appreciated the extra attention! She was strong on my other areas. 3.5 I bought a groupon for a 60-minute deep tissue massage. I called the day before my groupon expired and made an appointment. I asked for 5pm and they said 5:45pm, and I agreed. I got there at 5:40 and the lady asked if I had an appointment. I said yes and she said that she did not know about it. Ok, great. She asked me to wait 15 minutes. I was in a terrible mood in need of some relaxation, so I tried to be calm and told her that I would wait. I used the bathroom (which does not lock) and when I came out, she told me to sit in a massage room to wait. I sat there and waited about 15+ minutes. Then I was told to strip down and lay on the bed. She gave me 5 minutes to undress and when she came, she just started to massage me. The pressure was not very hard, but there were times where she really worked on some of my tense areas. I really like when my massages are deep and painful. I could have told her to dig in a little deeper, but I think I just wanted to have a more relaxing massage that night. Once she was done, she left the room for me to dress. They have mini bottles of water, candy, and other snacks for their customers, which is great! I was starving. I walked towards the door after I tipped the masseuse, but I did not redeem my groupon. They were quick to stop me in my tracks, haha. Overall, I think this is a decent place to get a massage. I might come back simply because it is near my apartment.
