This place doesn't SUCK, but this place is really DIFFERENT from all the other massage places I've been to. They might as well have told me to just get naked instead of "Get under the sheets!!" Don't get a masseuse of the opposite sex unless you're completely okay with showing your tata's! Towel to cover your chest will prove to be ineffective as it will be placed way too north. Your tata's will for sure be exposed. Why you keeping your panties on, girl? They're going to be pulled down anyway!! Blanket is pretty much there to only cover your legs, so get ready to show off your bonbons (buns) as well. When you sign your waiver and list preferences, don't even worry about what goes on there! You will be asked where you DON'T want to be massaged, but it is meaningless~ Your masseuse will still suggest he massage those body parts anyway. Hydromassage seemed cool because it was new to me. I don't know if it were effective in any way for me, so I can't comment much there. I wouldn't say this is a terrible place to go to if you need a massage. I've had massages at other places that have been as effective as MassageLuxe in relieving back pain, but other places have helped my back without me feeling so uncomfortable. My first visit...yes I've been back...I chose your standard Swedish massage to mix it up a bit. I've had deep tissue massages thru chriproractic therapy several times this year so I was looking for something more relaxing. From start to finish the experience was extremely welcoming. The waiting area in back is cozy and refreshments are there for your selection. After my 60 minute massage I took advantage of the hydro massage table and once all was said and done I felt like I was floating on air. I do love my deep tissue massages, but after a hard, long run, my body was not ready for a super deep massage. Now, you can undress up to your comfort. Start off with a warm towel, and they are very careful how they flip you over to maintain your privacy! I love how each person gets their own private room. For the full hour, you can address your needs, the strength level, and other areas of your concern. Now, I have received physical therapy and massages since I was about age 14! Plus, I've been to THAILAND, where they have DA BOMB massages! Seriously, nothing beats a 2 hr. professional full-body Thai massage for $20!!! So, I have "very high" expectations and have experienced the one of the highest quality of massages that I believe is around... MassageLuXe definitely has something that is comparable to my needs, and meets my expectations. However, what really irks me this during this pandemic is that their store closed (understandable as they should )but they continue to charge me. My husband and I both ordered a Groupon for this place - it was $29 for a 60-minute massage, and you got your choice of Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Prenatal. $29 for a Prenatal is an awesome deal... I really needed one too!! My husband went with the Deep Tissue. This place is brand new and in the Crossroads Plaza, where the Target is on Barranca/Culver. When we walked in, we noticed that everything was very high tech and modern. They were all smiles and immediately offered us hot tea, and had us fill out some personal info on iPads. Then, they ushered us into the waiting room in the back where there was plenty of tea, water, soda, and magazines to read while you wait. We barely sat down to wait when our masseuses came to get us - I liked the punctuality. I personally really enjoyed my masseuse (Amanda) - since I'm pregnant I wasn't expecting a very deep, intense massage but something more soothing and relaxing. She kept asking me what areas I'd like her to focus on and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. I fell asleep and woke up really relaxed. My husband, on the other hand, didn't enjoy his massage very much. He was disappointed in the deep tissue he received and said it was pretty weak. The girl also accidentally thought he wanted a Swedish until he told her otherwise (so make sure your masseuse knows what you want!). She also didn't ask him where she should focus on and basic things like that. They also had him try the 15-minute hydrobed massage at the end, where you go into a room and lay on what looks like a twin-sized waterbed, then they turn on the machine and its supposed to "massage". He didn't like it at all, and asked them to stop it after 5-minutes. It made him squirmish and ticklish and he found it gimmicky. For massage aficionados, their monthly membership fee for about $50-60 where you get one massage a month seems like a great deal, especially since massages can run over $100. I got a $100 gift certificate here for Mother's Day 2020, and finally got to use it last Friday. It was my first time so they offered me a $70 intro rate for the 60 min massage. Appointment was for 12:30, and we got started at 12:37 and ended at 1:23. I know normally they cut about 10 mins for dressing time, which is normal at these kind of membership places. I had Jun, who was nice and did a good job, but was a bit surprised because I was told I'd have a female. Anyway, no issue with that either. What I found offensive was the front desk associate took my gift certificate and said I was all set because they were keeping the balance for the tip. Honestly, not much I could do with the balance besides use it for another massage, but I might have done an add on or opted for something else, and tipped on that. I thought it was pretty audacious to assume they were entitled to the balance. Most of us tip, and have the right to tip what we feel is right. I likely won't be going here again. read more

I have been coming back to use the many hours that I have accrued throughout the past 7 months that I had paid but did not have time to use. I was pleasantly surprised that the owner herself took the time to contact me after reading my review. This goes to show that she truly did take my feedback as constructive and I am noticing some positive changes. Samantha is still truly an AMAZING Aesthetician and do very down to earth. I always leave feeling refreshed and my face feels rejuvenated. Roland is consistent in giving the best deep tissue massages and I love how he will provide me with tips on how to do stretches to ensure I can reduce my tension. His tips have truly helped! The best relaxation massages still come from Jorge. You HAVE to ask for him if your goal is to completely melt away all your stress. Jorge recommended the Hot Stone Swedish massage. The word "heavenly" is the best way to describe how I felt throughout the entire massage. I do not believe that I will ever want a massage without the Hot Stones again. I went to Massage Lux for a massage today and got massage from Francy. I have an old injury so I signed up for the trigger point massage over the phone. The girl told me they have a first time special for $80. My massage was pretty good so I pulled out a hundred to pay ($20) tip to masseuse. I was then told it would be $110. I told the girl and she said that she was going to call her manager. After three attempts to charge me $110 then I spoke to another girl at the front desk she said if I got the normal deep tissue massage it was $80 but $110 for the trigger point. I explained to her that was not what I was quoted. She then made changes on the computer and accepted my $80 + $20 tip. I asked her what's the difference between the trigger point and the deep tissue, and she said that my masseuse didn't specialize in it and recommended I come back for another massage. I have going to this location for over a year and, barring the occasional experimental session with other therapists, have chosen to see her every single time. I would highly recommend her to anybody that is looking for a legitimate professional massage. She works with a level of precision that is absolutely sublime, and it is clear that she understands her work on a much deeper level than the vast majority of other therapists out there. Her work is totally, positively, wholeheartedly peerless. My only gripe with this place is that, every now and then, I'll run into a fairly rude and nonchalant receptionist. Went for first time last week and had a very odd massage, the man that did it was whispering in my ear, not sure what he said and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I will not be back again as I think they need to screen these people and hopefully do background checks on them. I will not mention his name. Recently gave this massageluxe spa a second chance and I am please to rate it 5 stars. The owner, T.J. is very respectable and very nice to allow another chance for a Swedish massage. The masseuse Jeff & George were great. I had George, and he was a great listener. I wanted a full body massage with a little more attention to the middle of my back. He distributed his time evenly & focused on relieving my tension. I had to reschedule my appointment within a few hours and they were very understanding. I like the lobby that offers water & hot tea compared to Massage Envy. It's private & away from the front of the store. Bottom line: you're in and out. This place is not a day spa. If you're looking for a place to be pampered and spoiled this is not that kind of spa. After reading what fellow yelpers had to say I had decided to give this place a try. They're located in my backyard so I figured "why not?" The decor and atmosphere are very modern and chic. The staff is incredibly welcoming and kind. They are up to date with technology because instead of filling out forms on a clipboard you give them your info via iPad - which is great. I was greeted the instance I walked in and offered a drink while I was on the iPad. They mentioned the hydro bed thing but I'm pregnant so I opted not to try it. I was scheduled for a prenatal massage and a facial ( each 1 hour long). My massage therapist was very kind. She did an ok job. The pregnancy has really done a number on my back so naturally I asked her to focus on mainly my back but she spent a lot of time on my arms :( also I kept having to ask her to apply more pressure but never felt she applied enough. So my massage was just ok. My facial was a lot better. My aesthetician was great! She was the sweetest girl and was gentle on my skin since the pregnancy has made my skin a tad sensitive. I actually did feel like my skin was smoother and more moisturizer after the facial. The only thing is I was not impressed with the products they use here. The scents and fragrance of their products are fine. But the quality of the exfoliant and masks were so-so in my opinion. Also note that when the mask is removed from your face - it isn't completely removed. When my facial was done I used the restroom and when I looked up into the mirror I saw all this left over "gunk" on my face and neck. When i was exiting the bathroom I was trying feverishly to wipe it all off and my aesthetician said, " sorry I know it gets messy." Meaning she was aware the product was like this and she was aware she didn't get it all off of my face. (Sigh). Good thing I wasn't due for any dinner plans afterwards! I went straight home and had to wash my face immediately :( so was the facial good? - it was ok for now. Was it the best facial I've ever had?- no way ! Upon my exiting the spa I went up at the front to pay. I was given some samples of the products used during my facial. They asked if I wanted to sign up for a membership and I respectfully declined. The nice part was that they didn't continue to pressure me into signing up. I'd say over all this place is good for "quick fix" massages perhaps I will try it again just without the facial and definitely with a different masseuse. read more

very bad, i have cancelled my membership in person, they insisted me to provide a new credit card and promised that they won't charge me. However my credit card bill show continuing charges. They then asked me to cancel online which has mandatory option for using their service either certificate or by pass certificate. Without clicking on either on, it won't let you submit cancellation. The 3 stars is because the spa itself needs some major TLC. The carpets are so gross. You can see as soon as you walk in that its all discolored and it's smells so musty. Same goes for my bedding on the table. Is smelled not dirty...but funky? I didn't not wanna take my shoes off honestly. I've been here several times- once when the girls at work gave me a massage as a birthday gift, then as a gift from my son (I saw Rob that time ) and finally now as a monthly member. I just want to thank manager Sara and especially Cassandra for talking me into the membership! I most recently saw the absolutely amazing Hannah on Cassandra's high recommendation- and was so pleased with the results! I have what is technically called a "failed back", meaning my vertebrae have been injured and are chronically painful despite chiropractic, physical therapy, steroid injections, epidurals, daily pain meds and even surgery. Hannah made me feel physically better and also HOPEFUL. She recommended acupuncture and also a book (which I purchased on Amazon on my way to the car) that I am currently reading and learning so much from. I live right near this place.. And am a massage therapist myself. Sometimes it's nice to go somewhere other than where you work to relax, so I thought I would try this place out. The girl up front was sweet and the facility is nice, but the massage was sooo mediocre. I don't want to call out names but I asked for a Medium/deep pressure massage. The girl had to be newer in the massage world because she BARELY touched my low back, no where near my sacrum, NO glutes, NO feet and barely, I mean barely hit my hamstrings! She draped the sheet literally one and a half inches above the back of my knee.. Meaning she massaged an inch of the back of my leg lol The reason I think she had to be new is because she really shied away from hamstrings/glute/low back region.. So maybe she was uncomfortable? Idk but there is no reason not to touch on the feet.. A least acknowledge them with a quick compression.. Give me something. Not only that but when the massage was over I looked at the clock and she cut me 4 mins short. This isn't much but it is incredibly annoying when your paying per hour and not getting all of what you pay for. The girl who went in ahead of me came out after me.. Not cool. Got a Groupon deal here for an hour massage plus 15 minutes with their hydrolux spa treatment. Called day of to make an appointment and they had an opening that worked for me. Upon walking in, I was greeted by four women at the front desk. I filled out my basic info on their iPad registration system, then guided back to their waiting lounge that had water, coffee and tea. After a few minutes my masseuse came to grab me, name was Jesse and he was very young. In my head, I started thinking, greeaaaaat they gave the last minute groupon girl the crappy masseuse, but tried to keep an open mind. We walked back to my personal room; the entire spa is extremely clean and has ceiling height doors to each room giving it an upscale feeling. Their beds are heat controlled, rooms are quiet (no outside noises ever heard), and soothing ambient noise plays over the speakers. Jesse turned out to be a dream, extremely professional and knew what to do. Asked early on about pressure or areas to avoid, then checked in within a few minutes after starting. I guess it hit me, that I am now getting old as I am judging the young kids. I did the hydrolux massage afterwards, it is essentially a heated waterbed with jets. I'm not going to lie, at first, I thought it was VERY strange, but after you get used to it, it is very relaxing. You feel like you got an additional 45 minute massage, yet it was only 15. read more

BF brought me here as part of our anniversary celebration. never heard of this place before surprisingly since i work out at the gym in the same plaza! this place is located in a high traffic and packed shopping center right next to Target. the BF made reservations couple weeks in advance and unfortunately, they called to cancel the day of because one of our masseuse called in sick. ok, so that really irked me because they didnt even offer a discount or anything, afterall, we were doing this as part of a celebration not just a normal typical day. so we had to make some scheduling adjustments. while i cant talk about price because i dont know how much my BF paid for our couple's massage, i will say that my experience here was pretty awesome. if its your first time, you walk in and the receptionist will have you fill out forms on a tablet. then you wait in the lobby for your masseuse to come get you. there is a little waiting room where you can have some coffee and tea as well. once they are ready for you, they take you into the room and take you through an hour of magical relaxation. the only difference between a couples massage and a regular single massage is that you're in the same room as your other half. it's not like we were faing each other chatting the whole time, we both were just in our own little world (he might have even dozed off a bit). i enjoyed my masseuse and felt that she did a wonderful job. my bf did as well, although he did mention that he would like to have a deep tissue massage next time. after our one hour session, we were offered a 15 minute hydro massage (apparently it's optional at the end). because i've never used one before, we both took our turn using it. it was just ok....not special but a nice little bonus at the end. overall, we had a great experience and would definitely go back again. read more
