My husband and I tried Five Star Spa for the first time today. The past couple of times we called the same day, there were no available appointments and now we understand why. We made an appointment a couple of days before and waited about 10 mins after our appointment. I got the 30 minutes customized massage for only my neck and shoulders. Leo was great and was able to ease the tension on my neck and shoulders. It did hurt, but he was very careful and kept asking if the pressure was ok. My husband got the 60 minute foot massage and he really enjoyed it as well. It was a good price for the massages, everyone was professional, and we are definitely coming back... soon! read more

This is a good spot if you're looking for an affordable massage. They have an open area where multiple people are getting massages, but they also have private sections with curtains dividing each space. They do have a sound machine playing waves in the background, which helps gently block out some of the surrounding noise. If you're someone who gets easily distracted, I can see how it might be harder to fully get into that relaxing zen if someone starts chatting or snoring (). This actually happened during my last visit, and it took everything in me not to start laughing. The few times I've been here, the massage therapists have been pretty considerate and always check in to make sure the pressure is comfortable. During my last visit, I felt like some areas were a little rough, but I always recommend advocating for yourself and letting them know if you need them to adjust the pressure. My only real issue with this last visit was that my 90-minute massage ended about 5 minutes early, which was a bummer. My friend, who went with me and booked the same massage, also finished before I did, so it was a little confusing and something I didn't particularly appreciate. That aside, the prices are affordable, and overall, they get the job done. If you're looking for a reasonably priced massage and don't mind the more casual/open setup, I'd say it's worth giving them a try. read more

Quality meets value! Maybe the only issue is that parking can be hard to find, since parking at DJ can be such a fight sometimes, especially on the weekends. Would recommend coming at least 5 min beforehand to ensure you arrive on time. I've been here a couple of times and each time I've left soooo satisfied and relaxed. They have easily accommodated my walk in phone call requests and front guy is so nice. I requested a woman and they had no problem switching out my guy right away once I checked in. Pricing is so fair, so I would just make it up with the tip. I've had "KK" or "Kay Kay"? a few times and she's gooooood. My Chinese is super basic but she got what I was saying with my vague grunts and charades lol. Hmm, just a heads up though that you're not going to be in private rooms. There's a room with an array of beds and curtains. I'm sure you can go as a couple but I def can see it getting awkward if there's like a customer moaning or snoring which has happened to me. Wow! What a gem. I waited to write this review until I've came here a few times. First time, my friend and I got the combo-90 minutes. They know their pressure point and like others said, I came out of here so light. My friend is very selective with her massages and she said it was the best she had-she loved Allen an won't get anyone else. For me, I requested for Steven the first time (based on Yelp) and David the second time. The second time, I tried the 60 minute deep tissue. Only difference with the non-combo is they do not put soak your feet and focuses more on your back and body. If you like some deep tissue feet massage then I'd recommend the combo. I personally liked David-he seemed to know more about the body anatomy and uses his hands the entire time, versus the combo uses both forearm and fingers/hands but more forearm. I'd recommend this place over any other "foot" massages places in orange county. It's well worth every penny. read more

This was my go to spot for an affordable massage. I always knew it wasn't private spaces aside of curtains. But this time was so disappointing. The staff was extremely loud with the way they dragged their sandals and started to talk and laugh in the back room and front desk. No respect for the other customers getting a massage. I even had to ask my masseuse if he could please ask them to keep their voices down. He even had to shush them after a couple times. When I walked in they weren't so loud. Made an appt for a 60 minute swedish massage, started 20 minutes late (because they were behind) but the massage still ended at the top of the hour so it was not the full hour. The "private room" you get is curtained sections in one big room so you can definitely still hear everything going on outside. My neck and shoulder area is more sore the next day, it feels bruised almost. The price is okay if you can get past it not being private, sick workers and musty-smelling towels. I booked the 90-minute Swedish Body Massage ($80). Before the massage started, I was asked at the front desk what pressure I preferred, and I clearly requested medium pressure. During the session, the massage therapist asked me two more times, and I again said I wanted a medium massage. Unfortunately, the pressure was much stronger than what I requested. Instead of feeling like a relaxing Swedish massage, it felt extremely rough and painful. At times, the therapist used so much pressure with their forearm that it honestly felt like my back was being rolled with a rolling pin. Another issue was how my legs were handled. When repositioning them, they were often dropped back onto the table instead of being placed down gently, which felt rough and unprofessional. At the end of the session, I also felt uncomfortable during checkout because I felt pressured to leave a larger tip. I left a $12 tip, but the interaction made me feel that it wasn't appreciated and that a much higher tip was expected. Overall, this was not the relaxing Swedish massage I paid for. It was good, but I don't think I'll be back. It's busy. The masseuse next to me kept laughing once in a while (maybe he was listening to something in earphones?) and it was a little distracting. I have never gotten a foot reflexology massage, and I think I was expecting a more intentional massage or something but it was just a routine that I don't think is really reflective of individual feet differences. I really don't like when I get cracked on purpose without asking- each of my toes was pulled on to crack before I could do anything. Used to be good. This time waited an extra 20 minutes. I've now had the same guy for the last three times I went, and he puts no strength in the massages and just sits there with his hand on me without moving half the time. After a long week, I eagerly looked forward to an hour of reflexology on my feet on a Friday afternoon. The manager was very polite and explained what to expect from my massage therapist, Allen. Allen did a great job and made sure the pressure was what I wanted. What I did not want was a customer talking on the phone in the communal room! I was irked that the phone wasn't on silent mode, but thought that maybe it was an important call and gave the person the benefit of doubt. When the conversation continued for several minutes I had enough and said something to her. I don't think she understood English and she kept on talking. Allen told me he would get the manager and the manager was quickly brought into the room. The manager talked with the patron and the phone call ended. At the end of my wonderful massage, the manager was very apologetic when I went to pay. I let him know how impressed I was with how quickly he handled it and promised to return. They have so many couples massage tables near each other that you hear so much noise during your massage. While half of our massage was good and in silence, the remaining half was not peaceful. The massage therapist I worked with sure knew what he was doing. The deep tissue massage was definitely deep! He targeted the pain areas that I pointed out and made great use of my time. I thought 30 minutes was going to feel like it was too short, but it actually felt quite long. The space was comfortable and I didn't have to undress as it was a communal space. I was wearing a tank top underneath my sweater which was perfect for this occasion. So, I removed my sweater and they put a towel on top of me. The establishment was actually quite empty, and I was the only client until it was time to leave when there were at least four other customers arriving to begin their service. 35 minutes in the door and out and I was back to work like nothing ever happened.
