A+ Lot of complaints about membership, they do say $20 for next hour and then $59 monthly afterwards.. you just likely stopped listening after you heard $20 today. Corporate concerns mostly: You pay for a package but they aren't up front what aspects of the package is included I.e. if you select prenatal the hydro massage isn't included but you pay for it anyways compared to regular massage plus hydro. But they sell all the packages together. There is also no grace period, and this isn't explained in any of the calls or emails, so if you don't fill out their forms or show up early, it completely eats into your time. Plus their "dressing and paperwork" time. So 60 minutes is really 40-45 maximum because they count the 10 minutes towards the end not in total before and after. And it doesn't count towards the 75 minutes if you get a package. This is a company policy, so don't worry about the people working there it's not their fault, although they should do better to explain the process before the day of, and know the restrictions before even booking. The emails just say please show up early, and we count 10 minutes towards the massage for dressing and paperwork. That's all. But operate like companies like European wax who all have grace periods and don't stop mid wax..... The massage itself is like going to a non massage place and just getting a rubbed down like play-doh (may be therapist specific), not an actual massage. Great if you just want to be touched, but do not expect a massage or targeted area. No one at the location including therapist reads the actual paperwork which you take the time to fill and get deducted time for, like massage type preferred and your actual issues, just collect for the sake of paperwork. Unfortunately as my first, and last experience, I do not recommend MassageLuxe for any reason. read more

Terrible customer service and incredibly deceptive business practices. I came in on a Groupon for a massage and was told afterwards by an employee who was clearly in training that there was a promotion where I would pay $20 for an extra hour. The employee that was next to the training employee told her to also inform me that I would then be charged $50 a month later for another extra hour. At no point was it explained or made clear to me that I was signing up for a subscription. I'm not naive, so I kind of figured that's what the bait-and-switch was all about, and tried to do some digging on their website for more information. Came back with nothing, because they purposely want to keep customers in the dark so that they can squeeze more money out of them. I went into a location and asked for any documentation or more information about the membership--how much does it cost? What does it entail? What services am I entitled to? They weren't able to give me ANYTHING. Not even a piece of paper with an explanation of the subscription. They boast that it's a "no contract" subscription, but that's not a benefit. A contract is there to protect BOTH involved parties and lay out clear guidelines so that there is no room for misinterpretation. This company chooses not to use a contract in order to move the goalposts and manipulate customers who don't know better and aren't willing to stand up for themselves. Today, I was charged $60 for the membership fee that I was told was $50, and when I called to discuss this, was met with indignation from the receptionist I spoke to, who INSISTED that the employee MUST have told me that it was a $59.99 charge because "it's a speech that we all memorize and everyone says 59.99" as if she was present for the conversation in question and I was somehow misremembering a conversation that was just a month ago. When I continued to explain that I was told $50, she stated that it must have been a misunderstanding and that no one at the office would EVER say that. That employee should quit and open up her own psychic shop because she must have some paranormal powers to be able to see into the past and witness conversations for which she was not present. She would probably make a lot more money! I then asked to cancel my membership and get a refund of the $60, since I haven't used the hour and it was just charged this morning. She said that I would have to come into the physical location to cancel and that I couldn't make any changes to my account until December 24th...what? She then clarified that the system wouldn't allow her to cancel my membership today, but that I could come in tomorrow to have it cancelled. I informed her that I wasn't available for the rest of the week due to the holidays and that I would only be able to come in today to cancel, asking if it would be possible for me to sign the paperwork today and they can just cancel it tomorrow if the system won't allow it today. Apparently that is somehow not an option, I MUST come in on the day that they tell me to come. Absolutely ridiculous policies that are clearly meant to entrap the customer into complacency that results in them getting charged month after month for a service they won't use and is purposefully inconvenient to cancel. This is a predatory business practice and is exactly the type of behavior that the click to cancel bill that was passed to mitigate and prevent. Consumers and the government have overwhelmingly spoken out against this type of policy, but this corporation does not care about good customer service or honest business practices, they care about lining their pockets. I'm sure their employees get paid like shit too while their CEOs and franchise owners pocket all these unused subscription fees. I let the employee know that I would be coming in TODAY to cancel and that any further charges from MassageLuxe would be charged back and disputed. I'm typically so kind and understanding with service workers but you will absolutely not play in my face and get a smile out of me. Please do not fall for their scammy business practices! This is a place that does not value their customers and members. After using a Groupon, i have signed up for their monthly membership and that was my mistake. The appointment reminders are ONLY sent on the day of scheduling and on the day of the appointment. Therefore, if your appointment is early in the day and reminder came through at 9 am of the same day and for some reason, you cannot make it - you lose your massage for that month's membership. That happened to me on the 5th month of membership, i have already referred my other friend to this location - so i have actually brought them business. They would not make any exceptions for you to keep that hour, even though i have called right after receiving that reminder email at 9.10 am and massage was scheduled for 11 am. Even though they had holiday BOGO promotions going on for non-members, they would not offer anything additional for members. As a result of that i have decided to cancel my membership but i still had one more month already prepaid: I have scheduled another appointment for the last prepaid hour and was told that i need to come in to cancel the membership in person. Knowing that there could be rules about cancellation, i came in to cancel membership in person after my last appointment has already been scheduled for a later date. During in person cancellation of membership, the rules of using the hours left on the account have not been disclosed, however, i made sure to confirm that the last hour i have on my account is already scheduled to be used. Later same day they have cancelled my last appointment scheduled for the future date saying that unfortunately they are just fixing the mistakes made and that there is a rule that on hours from cancelled accounts must be scheduled same day only, that they cannot do anything about this and i have to call each day to see if there are any openings to come in same day. So now i have paid 2 months of membership while not using the services. This is absolutely unprofessional how they do business and how they treat customers, especially in the holiday season. I didn't have high expectations and I was very impressed with the level of service received from start to finish with front desk staff and the massage therapists. Deanna was one of the BEST massage therapist I had in a long time for a deep tissue massage. She was very good and focused on my problem areas. I felt so refreshed and highly recommended her to those who can stand the pain and get the deep tissue. However, this is a membership based place and they attempt to see the monthly $58.99 service which can be used for massage or facials and you get the hydro massage bed unlimited with the plan. After I politely declined the plan, the receptionist entire demeanor changed and was very noticeable which is why I took a star off. Yes, they're in the business to make money and have repeated clients, but there are better sales strategies in overcoming objections they all could learn from. Once you fill out your intake forms they bring you to a lounge area with water and dim lighting. The bathroom is very clean and so is the rest of the facility. They have relaxing instrumental music playing throughout the facility that helps with the ambiance. My massage was fantastic. I felt so relaxed and calm. I was pleased with the pressure and the way he addressed all my major areas especially my neck and traps. He's very knowledgeable and friendly. He talks to you throughout the massage and it's not awkward. He knows what he's doing and literally massages from head to toe. I can't wait to come back! read more

Beware, borderline scam. This location in particular has been beyond unhelpful and legally they are going to get themselves in trouble. We have been trying to cancel this membership for a while now, the rights state on the website and the contract that we can cancel through email, in person or mail. However the 'manager' who i suspect wasn't actually the manager said her name was simply Rose and not legally obliged to give me any more information than that indicated the only possible cancellation is in person or a letter. Now in most cases this is a nuisance at best however after a repeated efforts to indicate they were fact wrong and the policy states there was an email i could cancel with she simply said its policy and her hands are tied. Even if they were true I was simply bring attention to the fact that their 'policy' states otherwise. Either way, she was stone walling, not something untypical of bad customer service but it gets better (or worse) she had stated that this was the only way to cancel (in person or a mail) and that the contract i signed said so. I asked for the contact and its laughable. first of all they spelt the signing printed name wrong as well as an incorrect email address on file but maybe the worst of it legally it wasn't even signed. it simply had a line at each initial and the signature field also just a line. Nowhere on this piece of paper was it signed by me. And even if it had been, the cancellation policy on it stated, i can cancel through email. When bringing it up, Rose stated that is odd and proceeded to tell me the franchise owner deliberately tells them to not give the email as an option. Now I'm not legal expert but this is a massive red flag for this company. not only is it morally wrong to with hold options to cancel but legally its not even binding by their corporate company's rules and regulations. This franchise is going to get themselves in hot water. The bad customer service is one thing but straight up lying to customers and admitting they deliberately skirt around the policies given by corporate is crazy to me. I have been coming to this location for over 3 years. I am a part of the membership as well. It is most definitely worth it to me. They have had a shortage of therapists since the pandemic, but they do have time slots available when needed. Although you must call in advance, day of service is rarely available. They do have a waitlist service as well for same day or same weekend service. They always ask which gender of therapist is preferred and what type of massage is preferred. If you have multiple membership credits, they offer add ons. You can also use your membership for facials as well. I am relaxed as soon as I walk in the door. Of course I have my favorite therapist, but I have never had a "bad" session if she is not available. I love this location, and will be visiting as long as I'm in Tampa. read more

Shawna was my massage therapist and she was abrupt from beginning to end. My massage consisted of me laying on my back and her rubbing my neck for a few minutes, then my feet. Then she flipped on the light, told me my massage was over and walked out. I was in shock. When I spoke to the manager on duty, she put in a call to the regional manager, who said that there was nothing that they could do because I should have complained and walked out mid massage. I had a few visits to MassageLuXe. It started with a Groupon which was a great value. From there things were different. I'll start with the positive. This location has great therapists. I saw two therapists over the course of my visits. They were both great. After the Groupon I was talked into getting some type of monthly membership. The way it was explained it was all about the customer and no risk. Unfortunately that was a lie. For whatever reason, if you want to cancel you have to do it in person. And they don't care about your inconvenience. In my case I left town to attend a funeral, but I still had to wait until I returned to cancel, giving them enough time to charge me again. Then when I scheduled my paid for monthly massage I was told if I cancelled before the scheduled massage, I'd lose the massage and get no refund. The folks I dealt with over the phone were very rude, thoughtless and inconsiderate. And their attitudes get worse when you call them out on their scam. I get why folks would patronize them. If you have a good therapist and you don't plan on change, or if you're not at all budget conscious, it's fine. But I don't fall into all of those categories. There are extras there. They have lemon water and bottled water in the waiting room. They have a cool water massage machine that's available whenever. I got so sick of the staff that I only used the machine once. I won't give the place less than 3 stars because the therapists that I dealt with are great. I'd recommend them anyplace but here. Or if you go here, don't sign up for the scam membership. I was soooo surprised when they told me the first time. I can't gift without the person I gift having to go back to the same exact location two hours away. I was just told this information while another girl that worked there sat and rolled her eyes at me for asking questions about "MY" membership. I am cancelling membership after 8 years, too expensive and not worth the hassle and rude customer service. I would say, not all of their representatives are rude. You may find a decent therapist but their turnover rate is extremely high because their management and customer service are deplorable or more simply put..they suck. You can't book online. You can't cancel your membership over the phone it has to be in person or via certified letter. You can only transfer 1 session per 6 months to a friend or partner. Front desk staff seems like they don't want to be there and huff and puff at ever request or question rather than actually help you. You're better off finding a local or mobile therapist. Good experience. After a long run my husband and I desperately needed some massages and TLC. We had seen MassageLuxe when we go to Publix so I googled to give them a call and set an appointment. I happened to notice a groupon as well so we bought one for each of us - $30 for a 60 min massage and 15 minute hydroluxe massage. I called and they got us both in the next day. I also scheduled a facial for a little extra pampering. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early to complete some preliminary information. I was brought back to the waiting area where there were bottles of water and citrus infused water. I was greeted on time by the esthetician, unfortunately she never gave me her name. The facial was lovely but the biggest down side was I had no neck support so after 45 minutes of my neck on a bare table it started to really hurt (my neck injury was noted on the preliminary questionnaire). The massage was excellent - again the masseuse didn't introduce herself. The hydroluxe massage table was a nice touch, I would have liked that before the treatments. As many others have noted - the ladies at the front desk are pleasant and cheerful but they will push hard to get you into the monthly membership. Friendly Advice Do not come here!! Do not fall for their membership scam!! They only care about making money:( I was talked into their monthly membership but it's all part of their scam. When I tried to cancel due to COVID, they were not very understanding and said that the hours I have left in my account will go to waste. They said I can freeze my account for $5 a month and this money can be used when I unfreeze my account. When I decide to unfreeze, I had $85 in my account. $59 was then used for another hour but the other $26 was only used for freezing and unfreezing account. I told them I could add money to get another hour but they were very inconsiderate. After using my hours in my account I have to refreeze my account for a few months to accumulate enough money for another hour. It's so tedious and annoying. Customer service was also terrible. When I called to unfreeze my account, there was so many new information that they did not mention before. I was so confused and frustrated. My wife & I will NEVER step foot in MassageLuxe of Westchase, again. I purchased a massage Groupon for her & and I for Christmas late Nov '23 and called early Jan '24. The "only" stipulation was " Not valid for clients active within the past 12 months." The lady who booked our massages confirmed that it had been well over a year in 2022 when we were last in, so she took the Groupon #'s and redemption codes to book us. The next day, they called and advised that they wouldn't honor them as they will only honor 2 Groupons in a lifetime. The manager checked w/ the owner and they didn't care that Groupon isn't wanting to refund the money for these active groupons after 4 chats w/ 4 Groupon agents (who ended the chats without offering to resolve) and despite not stipulating this in Groupon's fine print, they advise that this is their decision at their location. Instead of honoring them or offering a compromise to meet half way, they've shown their true colors as a business. Now, I understand the other reviews that I've read about this location. She got all my knots out and even fixed my neck! My boyfriend saw Beth. Beth did amazing at getting his knots out and had good pressure throughout. Can't beat this deal on Groupon!
