As part of replacing our roof solar system we were looking for a roofing company to do whatever work was necessary to make sure that the roof is in good shape for the next 30 years. In addition to the roofing company recommended by our solar installer we also contacted Master Craft Roofing and two others. Rick responded immediately, came by to look at the roof, gave us his recommendations, discussed our concerns, answered all our questions and sent us a quote. Based on this experience and many positive reviews we chose them for our project. Master Craft Roofing had to coordinate with our solar installer to schedule the different project phases from removing the old solar modules to the tile roof lift and re-lay with replacement of the underlayment and finally installation of the new modules. We were a bit worried to have contracted with two different companies for different phases of the project. But that worry was unfounded. They worked great together and there was no finger pointing or issues of any kind. We are very pleased with the outcome. Our roof looks like new after they power washed the tiles. The new underlayment keeps the attic and the house cooler during hot days, and we are confident that we won't have leaks for a very long time. But in case there are, we know that we can count on Master Craft Roofing to take care of it. Working with Rick was a pleasure. He kept us informed at all times, quickly answered any questions that came up, and was flexible to make changes on the fly like replacing the existing attic vent with a new unit. He made sure that the end product was meeting and even exceeding our expectations, even if that meant some extra work on their part. The entire crew was very impressive. I'd highly recommend Mastercraft. They did a full roof, skylight, and gutter install for and it turned out great. I was happy each step of the way - I really felt they cared about quality and working to keep me happy. If I flagged an issue - they took care of it. Joe is the founder who is super personable, and everyone who worked at the company seemed happy to be there, and customer focused. For example, they caught an issue with the gutter they installed on the front of my house that I hadn't noticed, and they replaced it in full on their own initiative. I super appreciated that they just handled it rather than waiting to see if I noticed it or not. Pricing was very reasonable and I compared bids from 4-5 other companies. They also did a good job recommending and coordinating with a solar company to get panels installed in parallel with the roof so the shingles weren't compromised. Our house in Sunnyvale needs a new roof. A friend of mine referred Cris at Master Craft roofing and another roofing company to me. I called Cris and made an appointment with him. On the appointment day I met Lorenzo instead, at first I was a little worried but Lorenzo quickly put my worries away. He is very kind, soft spoken, after taking a look at the old roof, he suggested us to use different material from the exisitng roof since the slope of the roof is very low. There are also lots of the trees in the backyard so he suggested us not to have gutters which indeed caused lots of issues before. After I got home, I did more research online and found Lorenzo's advices very sound. We also have very tight schedule to fix in the tenant's need. Lorenzo coordinated everything with his company and promptly agreed to start the job within one week. The quote is very reasonable, so I decided not to contact my friend's 2nd referral and signed the contract with Lorenzo right away. While the roof was being replaced, I was away for one week. Lorezno managed everything very professionally and kept me informed of the progress regularly. It's really nice that I did not have to babysit the job. Lorenzo and his crew did an amazing job and our new roof was beautifully done. A few weeks after the city inspection was done and the final payment was made, we finally had our first rain. There was a small concern of the water coming down at the wrong spot of the house, I messaged Lorenzo about this, he came over right away to inspect. Next day he has his crew come over and installed gutter in this small secton to redirect water away. I am really impressed with how responsive he is especailly after the payment is already made. As a Veteran of the United States Navy I always love to support our local privately owned companies especially if they value our nations Armed Forces! With that said my family & I were looking to replace our roof in 2024. After months of researching we came across Master Craft Roofing as one of the options. Wow. Now you're going to be dishonest on top of it. Or did you think I had forgotten about this experience?!?!?! LET'S BE CLEAR: Hank had one extension ladder on top of his truck. It was unusable to get into our attic. Hank told my husband that his daughters don't let him go on roofs anymore and that his other ladder had recently been stolen. We explained that we had a folding ladder, so we used it. It was the ONLY way of getting into the attic. Hank didn't have a ladder that would work and to say that my husband insisted I using our ladder IS A LIE! Hank absolutely wasted an 50-60 minutes of my time. After flying his drone he told me that he would "talk to a couple other guys at the company, and that they would all come up for a great solution for my insufficiently vented attic." We also told him we needed gutters replaced. Hank told me he would send a quote to replace the gutters and vent the attic. He told me my roof was in good shape and he NEVER MENTIONED the need to replace the roof. After all that bull, WE HEAR NOTHING FROM ANYONE IN YOUR COMPANY. After two weeks, we had a real roofing company come out and they installed two solar attic fans and the problem is solved. Stay away from Mater Craft. Wow Wow Wow! I am sooo amazed and happy with the quality of work from Master Craft. First, I literally just yelped "roofers" in my area and received a text and call back within the next day from Guillermo. He was so extremely attentive and listened to every single concern I had because I had a leaking roof and needed a repair/replacement quick! These guys helped me again. I have a big scope project in new place this time. Although previously great experience I had, I decided to give all jobs including new concrete tile roof to a hired general contractor, which was a fatal mistake. After I was in the trouble ( hired GC ruined my roof ), I asked a urgent help to Joseph at the time not much far from the raining season. Over the past several months, we had been planning a huge remodel for our residential single family home: exterior, roof, and bathroom work. Initially we had just been getting bundle quotes with general contracting companies for the whole project, and found that the pricing was out of our budget. We decided to get a few quotes from non-general contracting companies for the re-roof project. At first we got one quote back from a very highly rated roofing company and found that the price was much more competitive than the GCs, and much more detailed in terms of the scope of work and material to be used. We were about to pull the trigger but decided to check one more non-GC company to check the pricing. It turned out this next company was booked until next year but they recommended us to Master Craft Roofing, which had actually responded to my query very early on but I never followed up with. I reached out to Cris from Master Craft Roofing and he was out the next day to look at the property and explain the process. The pricing was even more competitive than any offer we got previously, and just talking with Cris and going through the process of getting the quote gave me the confidence to choose them. Cris handled all our questions from start to finish. We have text messages for pages and pages and I'm really glad he put up with all my questions. Communication was amazing all the way. Once we accepted the offer we also had lines of communication to Joe and Alex at the top of the company, which gave us peace of mind because we could communicate directly with the company leadership with any concerns. I wanted to give a review and recommendation for MasterCraft Roofing. We have a concrete tile roof (that was the original). And if you have dived down the rabbit hole of roofs, then you'll know it's different from asphalt shingle (most common) and clay tile. And after meeting some roofers for quotes, my head was spinning a bit. But at that point I thankfully met Guillermo from MasterCraft. He explained things so well - and he also helped me truly understand underlayment and its importance (which the other roofers never mentioned). Underlayment helps protect the wood and lies below the tiles/ shingles and on top of the wood acting as a barrier. And he reviewed the roofing options and explained concrete tile vs other options explaining pros and cons of each. Many of the other roofers still use tar paper (which had degraded under our current roof), but MasterCraft uses synthetic underlayment which lasts much, much longer. Guillermo just oversaw every detail - able to explain what to expect, things that needed repair (lots of dry rot), things to expect. He was able to know problems that may arise and prevent them. If there were small bumps in the road (such as the manufacturer sending the wrong tiles), Guillermo fixed it quickly. The MasterCraft crew were great. We have a little boy, and they picked up the lost nails on the grass and around our home which we were grateful. They kept everything neat and tidy - and the roof looks great! I think a roof is a big investment and can be a bit stressful, but MasterCraft far exceeded our expectations! They were wonderful! Months before I signed any contract, Rick took the time to answer all my many questions, explain the different types of roofs Master Craft installed, as well as the pros, cons and prices of each. I will attach some photos of when the roof was being ripped up, the new roof materials, the new roof shingles, and the new gutters. Below is a detailed review of my experience. I bought a house at the end of February and needed a new roof, termite fumigation, new gutters, and paint job. I had some referrals from my listing agent that came to see the home but never replied back with an estimate for the new roof. I then went on Yelp and found Master Craft Roofing and called Lorenzo. He told me the story of ANBE Roofing, how it lost its way, and how he and others formed Master Craft Roofing. I really liked his honesty and wanted him to send someone to look at my roof. The problem was during this time, they were fully booked due to the very wet storms we got in San Jose and the Bay Area. After about 7 different roofers, I still didn't find anyone I liked. I reached out to Lorenzo with a text, and he said he could send someone over to my house. Nick came over and we walked around the entire exterior, where I pointed out the visible dry rotted rafter tails and barge rafters. Nick also got on the root to examine it, take pictures (which he would later upload to their system and sent me a link to see them), and gave his expertise about a part near my patio that needed to have an intake vent to help the attic stay cool. He then showed me the GAF shingles and asked me what specific model and color I would like. Nick then emailed me an estimate about 6 days later for the new roof and gutters. MCR's estimate was a little bit more expensive than another roofer, but MCR uses synthetic underlayment while the other roofer used the old traditional black felt (which I didn't want), so I chose MCR. Once I signed the proposal, a text group chat between Lorenzo, Nick, and Alex was created so that everyone was in the loop. Communication was very convenient because when I had a question, I would just send it in the group text and someone would answer almost instantly. As the scheduled day come closer, MCR was always letting me know what would happen on which day, and their progress. Timeline breakdown of what I had done 1. May 2nd: Sunrun takes down solar panels (on a lease) 2. May 15th: MCR demo team comes to tear off old roof. Nick told me once the old roof is off, they can see all the actual dry rot damage, additional costs for wood repair would be added on to the final bill (this is unavoidable, and every house is different. For me, it came out to be $1860). Once the dry rot wood is replaced with new wood, then they can begin installing the new roof. 3. May 16th: They conveyor belt the materials (shingles, underlayment, etc) onto the roof at 7am and began installation. Lorenzo met with me and we talked for a long time about what I wanted done, the order, and the timeline. He was very easy to talk to and trustworthy. 4. May 17th: They finished installing the new roof 5. May 19th - 22nd: Termite fumigation 6. May 25th - 26th: Sunrun puts solar panels back on 7. May 29th - June 3rd: Painting exterior and interior of house. MCR told me to have the fascia boards painted first before getting gutters installed. MCR doesn't paint but referred me to someone but I didn't use him. 8. June 6th: New gutters installed. Pros: 1. MCR is very professional 2. Communication was great. I could text or call any of the three guys (Lorenzo, Nick, Alex) if I had questions 3. They were very patient and didn't rush me to have the painting completed quickly so that the gutters could be installed asap. Cons: 1. Small nitpick, but the only way to pay MCR is with a check. Not a big deal since I like to pay all home projects with a check anyway. Nick was kind enough to swing by to pick up the checks. 2. The dry rot repair crew didn't lay down drop cloths (or not enough) and when they painted the initial primer on the new barge rafters, it fell on the ground in the backyard. 3. The roof install crew dropped a lot of nails and debris and didn't clean up. 4. I spoke to the three guys (Lorenzo, Nick, Alex) about it and they took the feedback and addressed it to the crews. 5. They are super busy so you might have to wait a while for an open time slot. read more

Highly, highly recommend this company. Cris (sales/pm) & Joe (owner) were terrific to work with. We had a 50+ year old tar & gravel roof that's been patched over the years for the leaks that developed. Cris recommended the TPO material (used on alot of commercial buildings) since it's mostly flat and you can't see the roof from ground. As well as being durable, this material will hopefully lower the heat of house inside during summer, because of the white reflective material we chose. We negotiated on the quote some as we had a few bids, and they definitely came in at a reasonable price, given the material chosen. Even more importantly, Cris got it authorized to have someone come out in the December time frame (since we did have to wait till Feb for this) to patch up the suspect areas in the current roof so we wouldn't experience any more leaks in potentially rainy months. And we did not. We also had an aluminum sunroom attachment roof that they did a silicone coating over. They had to replace some dry rot on main roof, but showed exactly what had happened in the damage and photo's from on top of roof too. Plus recommended some additional downspouts to install to ensure proper runoff. Some of the hvac piping on top of roof had been on secured blocks so after new install had been knocking a bit in high winds rattling against house. I discovered this post-install. But no problem in working with them on this. They had William come out to help us figure out what was causing the noise. And then sent out the installers to recut new mounting blocks, so whey would secure better to the new roof . Communication and trustworthiness is so important with any contractor one hires. And these guys are at the top! As well as the crew members they hire and any subcontractors they work with. Their crews were efficient and they had to deal with intermittent rain at the end of the job, but did so in a timely fashion to complete the job. Any miscommunications or questions were answered by Cris or Joe promptly. Joe went above & beyond to help ensure any issues were dealt with and came out several times to inspect. The permit process went seamlessly without needing anything from us. Cleanup went well with them even scrubbing the driveway as some paint had spilled (as they repainted the fascia being replaced from dry rot). I was impressed that as screws can get tossed into garden pods etc., that their cleanup guy used a screw metal detector to ensure nothing out of eye's view got missed. Within a few days of our initial conversation, Rick was able to provide us with a quote and communicate exactly what he was going to do. Rick beat out the competition by a landslide, making it a no brainer to go with Master Craft Roofing over other well-known and well-advertised competitors in the area.
