I wish I could give Master K. Contracting 10 stars instead of 5. Had to wait quite a while for Jamal but it was well worth the wait. My apartment kitchen had a gut renovation and it was not easy to do. The only things I kept were my microwave and safety step stool. There was very little space in my apartment for Jamal & his wonderful crew to keep their tools & equipment, but they managed beautifully. My apartment door had to be removed in order to get the appliances in, but they did this and more both efficiently and without complaining. I am a fusspot that never had to voice a complaint because the work was meticulous. Jamal was always there checking the progress and he was always available for any questions I had. I was able to leave my home for appointments without worry, appreciating the honesty of the crew. The crew cheerfully answered any questions I had and always checked to see how I wanted items placed. Holes in the wall were covered up before they left for the day, so I never had a problem with mice or roaches. Thankfully, this was part of their job and I never had to request it. Jamal recommended an excellent cabinet maker, electrician and stone installer. The construction cost was reasonable compared to other contractors and we did not go above budget. I was initially nervous about the renovation but all I have to say is that as soon as I started working with Jamal that immediately went away. He is the nicest person to work with and the vendors he recommended were also very nice. When the appliance stores delayed delivery, Jamal took it in stride. I highly recommend Master K. Contracting. If you have to wait for Jamal to do your construction work, do so, it will be well worth the wait. read more

Contacted Master K. Contracting through a list along with 2 other companies. Within the same day of making the evaluations, I received 2 competitive bids to do the job. The third competitive bid was submitted sometime later after I committed to Master K. Contracting and had the work completed! In dealing with Master K. Contracting's owner Jamal, he was helpful and extremely accommodating. He was mindful of my own circumstances of having to travel from out of town to be present during the project's work days. I was extremely grateful for this consideration. The day of the job, Master K. sent a crew led by Ripon who along with another worker had done the preliminary evaluation. The men went about the job with speed, efficiency and care. After the first day, the old roof was torn off and general repairs to the underlying structure was begun and completed. Day two, the men showed up promptly and continued their work. When I ventured to the rooftop, Jamal took the time to explain in great detail the entire process and timetable for the work. I appreciated his explanations. By the end of the second day, I was sure I had made the right decision in choosing Master K. Contracting. The final day, Jamal and Ripon assured me they would be finished on time and before the expected rains would come. The men were extremely careful to clean everywhere debris landed in or around the work area on top and on the ground. When they left, the entire area was spotless! I am very happy to meet with Master K Contracting and get my job done. He has done a work for us. I requested a quote from him and he gave it very fast. I did my facade and roof work with him. He was very prompt in answering questions. The difference between him and other contractors are that he knows what he is doing and he does some of the work himself and he is very experienced. I did other jobs with other contractors and he was the first construction boss that I have seen doing the job with the labors. The facade came out very nice. He explained all the steps and how he was going to do the job. My only concern was not to bother the neighbors. But he assured me that he will clean the job site every day as well as the neighbors portion. My neighbors were so happy with him that they ended up doing some of their work with Master K. I was concerned with the roof. I did my roof work with another contractor 5 years ago and the roof started having bubbles. Master K gave me a 10 year warranty on the roof. I am very happy with his service and I would recommend others to use him. He is the best in what he does and gives a reasonable price. read more

Eleven working days were allocated for the work. The contractor completed the job timely. The contractor executed all work with precision and skill. The dry well was constructed following the manufacturer's instructions for the 25-yr storm and NYC code. The driveway metal storm pipe was exposed and a small heavily oxidized segment was substituted with PVC pipe. Concrete elevations near the Bilco door were not well estimated. The contractor fixed with additional cement the elevation with good results. Only a small puddle of water is left after rain on one side of the Bilco door. The contractor used the planting area for some phases of the work; removing the ground added, debris left and re-leveling the planting area was not done. The cost of the job was reasonable. The contractor is amicable, well behaved and attentive. The contractor's core crew is versatile and specialists were employed for each phase of the work. I recommend this contractor and I am planning to use Master-K services again. read more

Ok so this review is LONG overdue (sorry Jamal). This was the first time we have used a contractor and we were a bit nervous (we heard horror stories). We bought a co-op and I had a vision of a spa bathroom. We interviewed a bunch of contractors and my husband and I instantly liked Jamal. He was down to earth, honest, and a stand-up guy. I was hesitant about the estimate, but I have to say you get what you pay for. Jamal was awesome! Jamal listened to all my wants and went with the flow. Jamal and the crew were polite and worked every day. When there was a glitch, I was not afraid to call Jamal and tell him. He would show up and fix the problem immediately. Jamal was ALWAYS available to talk. The finished product was more than I could have asked for. We will be hiring Jamal when it is time to redo the kitchen! read more

Repaired sidewalk and backfilled concrete in basement. Master K Contracting were very thorough and professional, and did a great job of communicating throughout the project. They discussed all the aspects of the project thoroughly before work began. They completed all work with attention to detail and checked in regularly to make sure we were happy with the progress of the job. We are very happy with the final product; our new sidewalk looks great. Our basement floor is now level and based on my observation it was carefully constructed. I appreciate Jamal reaching out at all stages of the job. He responded immediately to all texts, and he and his team consistently followed through on what we discussed in our conversations. Jamal and his crew provide first rate skill and quality work. It was a long process from the initial ideas to the proposed drawings, to working with the architect and selecting the cabinets and jamal was there throughout both guiding us and making suggestions based on his experience. His crew is responsive and show care for the jobsite and making sure that the expected disruption to your home and daily life is kept to a minimum. Their taping, spackling and painting skill is top notch. I've worked with many contractors over the years and Master K is probably the neatest to date. They made sure that the work area was cleaned and swept after each day of work. I've already used Master K for many other projects outside of the kitchen renovation. read more

They examined the roof and called the office and gave me an estimate right then and there. They described exactly what was to be done and the material they would use plus the 12 year warranty for the work. I made an appt for them to return the next day to perform the work. The workmen presented me with the contract to sign as soon as they got to the house. They unloaded and set to work immediately. They respected the house ( very fragile facade) and made sure nothing was damaged in taking the material to the roof. The work was completed in a day all the debris was removed, they even wrapped up the tarp that I had covering the roof so I could store it. Recommended by a neighbor who uses them on multiple properties. read more

Jamal and Ripon, and their team were really wonderful to work. They did a full renovation of our house, and were communicative, thorough, and friendly throughout the entire process. We've heard many horror stories about projects-gone-wrong, so we were nervous as this was our first home renovation, but we ended up having nothing to worry about. Working with Jamal means working with a group of people who care, and who'll see your project through until they're certain you're happy. Ripon and his team is just excellent. 3 years ago I called them to do my garage and basement, they did i wonderful job so i called them again to do remodel my kitchen and driveway. once again they did a wonderful job. Jamal and his father are incredibly friendly and communicative; Jamal is always reachable and ready to help. They installed brand new windows in my apartment that are very well insulated and keep out the cold air.
