Destroyed selvage edge.
Nick K.

Ok work but be careful if you're taking your selvage denim here for tapering. I brought two pairs of new selvage denim jeans here to have the legs tapered. I explained I wanted to leave the selvage edge untouched and slimming should be done on the inside of the leg. I left confident that they understood. The sign said "the denim expert" after all. When I got the jeans home I realized both had been tapered along the outside selvage edge. This effectively spaced out the white lines way too much and looks dumb cuffed. I'll either have to wear them uncuffed , or get them hemmed now. Not *that* big of a deal, but these details matter to anyone buying pricey selvage denim.

It's close by to Rittenhouse and yet the prices don't reflect that!

Master tailor and cleaners is the only tailor I will ever need. At least I'd like for things to go that way. What I get done here are my pants getting hemmed, the waist brought in, my shirt cuffs shortened, and darts put into said shirt. I've had nothing but success due to their profound experience and ability to have a conversation with me regarding tailoring instead of just doing what I ask because a lot of times I may be wrong and their expertise says different actions would result in a better product for me. They are incredibly friendly and I believe you get a discount if you pay cash. When hemming my pants it's about $15. Their timeline for getting the product back to you is flexible but they usually ask if a week is okay. However if you insist they can get it done in 3-4 days. In summary these five stars come from their expertise, the customer experience, the incredibly friendly staff, and the decent prices.

Check your materials before you leave!! To make sure there was actual work done

CHECK ALL ITEMS BEFORE LEAVING I saw the bad reviews and have worked w the public all my life. I know there are complainers out there. I saw many good reviews too. I believe in small business and the positive. And also know people and businesses can have a bad day. I will NEVERRRRR return here. All three times were awful experiences. The first time I had stains on my shirt from a leak in my closet or something mysterious. The woman who took my clothing was basically harassing me saying it was coffee. I do not drink coffee. She then said 'what did you spill on yourself?' over and over with a condescending look. I told her repeatedly it wasn't food or drink and she rolled her eyes. The last piece of clothing had the stain on the top of the shoulder. She then believed me. The second time - a small tear in a jacket was sewn and looked horrific - all bunched up and a mess. When I looked at it and asked about it - I again was harassed, this time by the main tailor/owner(?). He was yelling at me saying I told you this and that. I never spoke to this man before. Only a woman. I have never been treated so poorly in any situation, but esp not by a business. He eventually 'credited' me for the sewing by taking off $ from the things I had dropped off in the same trip. My instinct was to take cash back (not that it was offered) and take my shirt back. I should have listened to that. I went to pick up the shirt today and it was not touched. Highly unprofessional. I do not need to be yelled at or harassed by someone who I am paying a service for. And when you pay for something it should be done. CHECK ALL ITEMS BEFORE LEAVING! Disgusting business 'ethics.' Very disappointing.

They didn't know me as I had called a few minutes before and asked them if they could fix a sports top of mine that my dog had ripped the strap off of and then also fix my pants that were too long. They happily obliged. I was able to quickly go I into the makeshift dressing room they had, came out, and then one of the women got to work and started using pins to allocate the area that has to be trimmed. She was very patient and asked me if the length was ok several times. Whilst doing this and changing back into my other clothes, the other lady had already stitched the strap on my sports top. I was beyond happy. For my romper that they also offered to dry clean, they told me to return after a week and gave me a yellow ticket to note the date/time. I indeed returned about a week and half later to pick up my romper. It was neatly pressed and hemmed just right. They reminded me of a seamstress I went to back home in Miami. I feel lucky I found this store (thanks to Yelp of course). They had great reviews. How could I not? Should I need them again, I would definitely be back.

I was careful to check and take photos of my items to benchmark any pre existing damage (only 1 had a stain) and the clothes came back there was a ton of new damage- 7 pieces. Still charged me for half and refused to apologize until I said I would have to warn others. Other items came back still stained (and they acknowledged they had incorrectly forgotten about certain spots). 2. When I brought them in there was a line of people and the store was supposed to close at 5. I wanted to walk through each item but the worker rushed me out and refused to do that because she wanted to get off the clock on time while keeping her revenue/volume as high as possible - and attend to the other customers. I'm just really bummed that my expensive items were destroyed.

I don't have a typical Chinese woman's body. I was raised in America and I somehow was blessed/cursed with being very top heavy and don't fit it normal Chinese sizes. The first store I went to with my mom in flushing NY had a very rude woman who continued to tell me that I'm such an American and am too big and nothing In her store would fit me and that I would need something custom made for over $400 dollars. The second store, also in flushing told me very similar except she was much better and searched her stock. She was able to find a qi pao that fit me. However, she also recommended given my figure, to custom make something as well. Finally my cousin and his now wife got married late last year and recommended I visit Dia Boutique in Philly. Now it's a bit of a drive for us but we heard great recommendations and figured we make a day trip out of it. I can not say enough nice things about the owners of this store. Dia boutique is a small store who somehow knew their customers needs. They didn't tell me that I was fat or that I was so American. They actually complimented me and told me how excellent my Cantonese was and how she wants to help me find the perfect dress. They had several dresses I fit into in multiple different color variations. When they didn't have my size for a red one, the owner went out of their way to find me my traditional red one that I wanted and was successful at it! While searching for it, I also found a beautiful white one I fell in love with. We also found my fiancé a nice top as well. We left the store, so happy, and having only spent $210 for 3 items when flushing would have cost me over $400 for just 1. I can not say enough great things about Dia boutique and the lovely owners who made me laugh, made me feel comfortable and helped me find my dream qi pao for my wedding. Super impressed!

The store let's you try it on before buying because its final sale. For $25 for a 2 piece children's size, it wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend.

Steve showed me that the work needed for my jacket wasn't cost-effective and suggested that I return to the suit store for an exchange to a better fit. That made things even more critical as by the I received the new jacket I essentially had a 2-day turnaround. Amazingly, Steve was kind enough to include me in some select items he was doing on Monday, his normal day off. (I wouldn't expect him to do this for everyone.) Even then, he wasn't optimistic that the changes needed for my new jacket would be as effective as he would have liked to see. (It's not his skills but my...uniquely shaped torso, let's say. lol) Amazingly, not only did he complete the jacket and pants (which needed only minor work) in two days as promised, the jacket actually fit *perfectly* and I received many compliments at the function I wore it for. I'm forever grateful to Steve for his help and he has a loyal customer in me going forward.
