These folks know their stuff. Willy can look at a floor and know fairly quickly what the options are. We actually live on the Mainland, so communication was key and they did well to keep us informed and to make key decisions. This is an older home with much of the floors carpeted and we wanted the hardwood under it to be refinished. So, there were bound to be surprises and they were a few. But, Willy and his crew walked us through the options to make the floors look great, given the age of the property. It even included time and effort to deal with termites and urine stains. They also moved the heavy furniture out and back when done. I was also impressed with how efficiently it got done. I'm glad I found these guys! read more

I had my home done with luxury vinyl planking from Masterpiece Flooring LLC. Extremely poor installation, didn't lay moisture film on my concrete floor before installing planks. When asked, Willy the owner said it wasn't necessary. I spoke to other contractors and they all use some sort of moisture barrier. While watching employees install the flooring, none of them ever used a tapping block which is a very important tool when laying lvp. Now I have peaking and curling throughout my home. He wanted to repair a small section and have me pay for materials but it's evident this is happening in all areas of the flooring and why should I pay for their improper installation? When the job was completed, it seemed like the floor was floating with high and low areas, he said it would settle and become solid it's been over 2 years and has not settled. Long intro: I had water overflow that went underneath my vinyl flooring. I had a water extraction team cut out and removed planks and dumped them. After the area dried, I tried to install them but didn't do a good job. I needed a professional flooring person who can install some planks I had on-hand back in the area that was flooded. I was searching for someone to do vinyl plank in my home and was searching Home Advisor. A few days after looking Home Advisor called me out of the blue and asked if I was interested in a free quote from Masterpiece Flooring. I said sure since the other company came and measured but was yet to get back to me. Willy came by took the measurements and made an appointment to show me some samples. He came the next day with samples. We agreed on a style he said the quote would be coming shortly. The next day quote arrived by email. We agreed on a start date. They arrived 2 guys Ryan and Keoni. They were professional and friendly. I noticed they concentrated on the job. No messing around no loud radios or smoking in the home. Demo was done by lunch and they started other work. They had to wait for Willy to bring the product. I noticed Willy is very busy. He's the owner and I think does all the running around. So Willy is a little hard to pin down sometimes. The work was done in a couple days. We are very pleased with how it turned out. I gave Masterpiece Flooring a 5 star rating because although there were some very minor issues. None were for workmanship the minor issues were due to logistics and they were very minor. I would not hesitate recommending Masterpiece Flooring in the future. Pros: Great workers including Kimi in the office and the guys know what they are doing. I had a terrible time with another flooring installation guy trying to get laminate installed on my staircase. I decided to call Willie to get the job done. He came out and was honest about the scope and definitely charges a pretty penny, but assured me that it would be done to a very high standard. That seemed assuring so he said he would come on thursday evening and we'd go over the job and needed supplies and his crew would do the job on Friday. This seemed great since I had been waiting on this to get done for a long time at this point. Thursday he does not call or text so i hit him up. He was busy with a job that they had already started and couldn't come on Friday. I thought that was fine since he had to prioritize a job that was ongoing, but was disappointing that he wasn't going to get it done when he had said. Over the weekend I don't hear from him, but he had scheduled me for that next tuesday and said that that was the only job he had on the books that day. At that point he hadn't scheduled a time to come over and go over the scope one last time, but said it would be fine and so I let them start on the project while I was at work. I get home from work and the job was not done and nobody was at my house. I call Willie and he says that they will be back the next day to finish. The next day I come home from work and the job is done, but there were definitely some areas that were not in professional finished product shape as I had expected. I took pics of the spots that needed fixed on the stairs and sent them to him. We went back and forth until I told him that I wasn't wanting to argue about it, i just wanted the job done right. The next day, they came back out and fixed the spots that I wanted fixed and the job does look great now. The part that I really thought was unprofessional was that there was a huge pile of the leftover trash pieces all over my garage along with a thick coating of sawdust covering everything and cigarette butts on the ground. They hadn't cleaned up at all. Apparently that was not part of the project.... Additionally, they used MY miter saw, table saw, and jigsaw to do the project!! Who does that? Wow... first review. Kinda surprising, as I really had a great experience with these guys. They worked super hard and were independently recommended by both the property manager for my condo and the owner of the bamboo flooring company we ultimately went with. Willie can be tough to get a hold of, as he is swamped. If you have the time and patience to keep calling, it is worth it! He is definitely in demand for his mad flooring skills. He did a great job on a really difficult concrete base (had to use tons of leveler to get the floor smooth) but in the end, my floors are gorgeous, silent, and we couldn't be happier with them! read more

Willy came to my home to estimate the labor cost to replace some water damaged wood flooring. I provided the actual replacement wood flooring. He said it would be a complex job that would take 4 days at an estimated cost of $3,500. I agreed to commence with the work but did not sign any agreement. The understanding was the estimate provided was just that, an estimate. His crew did not show up on the date agreed and Willy did not contact me in advance. He promised the crew would show up the next day. On day 1 a total of 5 man hours was incurred and on day 2 a total of 3 man hours was incurred to finish the job. The job was not complex at all and could have been completed in 1 day had the crew not forgot to bring the glue. Willy had grossly overestimated the complexity, time and therefore the total cost of the job, but had the gall to invoice for the full estimated amount anyway. When I contacted him to express my astonishment he told me I was bound by his estimate. I did not sign his estimate document but Willy alleges I have. He has not provided it proof that I did because he know I didn't. I see from another customer review here on Yelp that Willy was not truthful and also allegedly doctored documents in an dispute arbitration matter. Even if I did sign this estimate, which I did not, the document is clearly labelled an estimate and there is no language in it that suggests that I am bound to pay the full estimate amount. I was always of the understanding I would be invoiced and pay on an actual time incurred basis and there is nothing in the estimate document that suggests otherwise. Willy would not consider my appeal to be reasonable and fair when I expressed my displeasure at his final invoice amount. He threatened to commence legal action and place a lien on my home if I did not pay the full original estimate amount. I gave him every opportunity to do the right thing. However he was not interested in fairness and repeated threats and demands even though he can't and doesn't dispute the facts supporting the job was grossly overestimated. While the quality of the actual work was acceptable, his business practice of grossly overestimating the cost my job was deceitful. He abused the trust I placed in him to provide a fair and reasonably accurate estimate. Willy was then relentless and unprofessional in his demands and threats for full payment beyond what it actually took to do the job. despite my repeated opportunities for him to do the right thing. Super Happy! We're talking about new flooring through my entire house. Both upstairs and downstairs. Willy came over to the house on multiple occasions, first to meet us and even to bring sample flooring. We even met with him at Home Depot to pick out exactly what floor we wanted a couple times. Super friendly and even worked around our busy schedule. Him and his staff were very generous with our dogs, and even came on a Saturday to finish our downstairs before Christmas. We shopped around and Masterpiece Flooring had the best pricing for what we needed. They didn't nickle and dime us or charge us for things like carpet removal, hauling away the carpet/debris, and helping us move our furniture before/after the install, whereas other companies charged for that kind of thing. Willy and his wife Kimmy, who manages the company, were very friendly and super professional the entire time. They were quick to respond--I just texted them and they would respond same day. I actually found them on Home Advisor and requested quotes. They responded within minutes on a SUNDAY! Willy came out to do the quote, and it was priced much more affordably than others we got quotes from. They also let us know that we could get things done cheaper and have more selection if we went to Home Depot/Lowes ourselves and got the materials/tiles we wanted. So we did just that. We special-ordered the materials and once it arrived, we scheduled time for them to come out, which was within 1 week. They were courteous, professional, efficient, and did a great job. They refloored our living room (from carpet to lux vinyl) in less than 3 hours! And they even moved our furniture back to where it originally was, without even asking us to help them. They are an all-star team and I'll definitely be calling them again whenever I need more reflooring work done! read more

Horrible, rude worker! One of Masterpiece's workers (he was wearing a black T-shirt with their logo) was blocking my stall with his car doors and closed only one. I tooted my horn because I came home early from work and was nauseated. He made a MAD face at me and didn't apologize for inconveniencing me. He went back in the home where they were working, then came back out and FLEW his door open- if I hadn't purposely parked far over, he would have hit my car. NO CLASS!!! read more

The workmanship was very good. The employees were polite and very conscientious. I'm increasing the rating to 4 stars mainly due to the workers, not for the owner. Working with Masterpiece Flooring was an absolute nightmare. Poor quality work and lots of uneven and soft spots throughout the home. After four months of trying to have Willy correct the deficiencies only to deal with numerous excuses and lies, we decided to go through binding arbitration to settle this. It was disappointing to see Willy continue to not tell the truth and to submit evidence that was obviously doctored. Even though the arbitrator ruled in my favor, no amount of money could buy back the time I lost and undo the extreme stress that I went through.
