I bought bamboo flooring from them 6 years ago (2008). I wanted to buy a product that was sustainably harvested, and Mark went into great detail about the ecological value of his products. I bought their carbonized, pre-finished, standard tongue and groove engineered bamboo, which I installed myself on top of cork which I also bought from them. I did most of my house. I still get comments about how great it looks. The floor has worn very little, there are some scratches here and there, but it is so hard that it really doesn't scratch easily. There are some people who are willing to try very hard, though :-(. There are NO signs of bug infestations, unlike stories I heard about other sources of bamboo flooring. There are no signs of fading, either. There appears to be no warping. I had to discard a few boards while installing, as they weren't straight. This was perhaps 1 to 2% of the boards? There are a lot of boards when you are covering 1200 sq ft. It took two trips with my Honda minivan to carry it all home. And they were heavy. I then piled the boards up as recommended in each room to adjust to the humidity (I live in Manoa.) That seems to be a good idea. I would suggest having a couple of extra boxes at the end, in case repairs are ever needed. I have spilled liquids on the floor a few times, and the floor does not seem to absorb anything. I have the pre-finished floor, and liquids don't seem to fall between the cracks, either. I made a point of installing the flooring very tightly. In short, it has been everything that Mark at Bamboo Flooring Hawaii promised. I was also very happy with how helpful he was when I was installing the floor, always willing to answer questions. I will say it's not an easy first-timer project, but I managed to get it done. The price was very good, too. I went to all the floor places I could find in Hawaii, and nobody could match the price, although others had very nice flooring as well. You may want a better installer than me :-) but I see no reason to go to any other flooring supplier. If I ever do another wood floor, I will buy from Bamboo Flooring Hawaii. read more

Despite the poor review by C.A., I would recommend that you RUN TO this supplier if you want to install a quality Bamboo Floor in your home. We are from the Mainland and recently purchased a Condo in the Waikiki Beach area. We decided to upgrade the unit as it probably had not been upgraded since the beginning, about 30 years ago. We decided to go with a hardwood floor and began checking out both Home Depot and Lowe's (we actually placed an order with Lowe's), however, like most other things you want to order in Hawaii you have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery. We then hit the internet and found Bamboo Flooring Hawaii. Not only does Mark, the owner, have a great selection of colors and stains for the flooring, but he actually has the inventory on hand. We were able to get delivery within a week. Note that this supplier does not do the installation but he has a list of a dozen quality installers that he recommends. We recently returned to Oahu to see the final product and it looks terrific! We couldn't be happier and would recommend this supplier highly. if you are considering bamboo flooring, this is the place. my project which i had begun in 2011 started from the downstairs living room. i have since did the entire kitchen, hallways, bedrooms, and now finishing up the staircase. i had kept my options open considering other products, but the more i searched the more i have come to appreciate the quality of this product. i'm not going to bore you with how nice of a guy mark is because you can read it from the other comments..i can only say he is the kind of guy that my parents would trust. these planks are solid! not to be confused with what you find @ costco or the hardware stores..they are 6' long solid. i just bought my last shipment and stacked several thousand lbs right over my existing floor, and that is how confident i feel about it. i cut several pieces and left them outside in the rain and sun for 4 yrs and it has only now began to penetrate the outer layer. the aesthetics and quality of this product sells itself.. i truly believe even termites would walk away and find a softer meal elsewhere..well worth every penny!! mahalo mark read more

When we were considering our options on our total remodel of our condo, we contacted Mark about our floors and ceilings. We had this crazy thought to bamboo over the old 1970's popcorn ceiling. We didn't want to spend a lot of money removing the popcorn to reveal an uneven ceiling, so we thought, why not just use the popcorn as insulation and cover it with natural stranded bamboo. For less money and absolutely stunning results, we succeeded in realizing our dream of a natural looking beautiful work of art. As for the floors, we consulted with Mark back and forth for about a month, constantly changing our minds, getting samples, returning samples, calling him for advice...not wanting to make a mistake on such an important choice , we must have driven him crazy, but he remained the voice of reason throughout our decision making process. I just want to say that Norma is the best! She has integrity and is willing to go the extra mile I am from Richmond Va and HSF is one of only 2 places in the entire US that actually had this flooring in stock. Norma was able to turn me on to the only other place that carried this wood and it happened to be on the mainland. However, I was so impressed with Norma that I was going to order the wood from her despite the fact that the shipping was almost 400 dollars more. Unfortunately, due to some mix up on my part and some shipping difficulties I had to cancel my order and go with the other company, but it was not my first choice! We had a very unique experience with this company. About 4 years ago, we put a deposit on bamboo flooring for an addition on our home. Then, my husband fell off a ladder and broke his neck. We stopped the addition, and were out of communication with almost everyone for quite some time. Although Bamboo Flooring attempted to contact us, we never reconnected with them. About a month ago I contacted Mark by e-mail and asked if they would be willing to apply my deposit to a new flooring order. He immediately contacted me and was so nice, and said he would honor it, even after 4 years! Incredible! It honestly brought me to tears. Within 2 weeks, we had our beautiful bamboo flooring delivered to Hilo. We are getting it acclimated to the addition, and I will send a photo when it is installed. Still happy with the bamboo flooring 12 years later. Flooring from Bamboo Flooring Hawaii is high quality and long lasting. Mark sold me flooring for a townhouse remodel 12 years ago and it is still in very good shape. You would never know it is that old. The color is still uniform and light, and makes the rooms look longer and bigger. As others have mentioned, Mark was wonderful to work with. After a little reading on line about bamboo flooring it was clear Mark had a great deal of understanding about selecting bamboo products and some of the cautions around bamboo flooring. Mark was very generous with his time and helpful in selecting flooring for different rooms. He put me in touch with a reasonably priced and knowledgeable installer that had done similar work. The Customer service received from the owner Mark and his Assistant, Norma from day one was terrific! Their communication with me from the time of order to the time of delivery was consistent. They have a nice selection of flooring. Both my sister and I had selected the "Kauai" LVT for our condo renovations and it turned out beautiful. It made our condos look and feel elegant. When my personal flooring contractor had a minor installation issue, I called the company and both Mark and Norma got personally involved to make sure I was going to be completely satisfied with their product, even though it was not their installation issue. With all the flooring options out there I finally went with Hawaii style flooring and I'm really glad I did. I met Mark at the BIA home and remodeling show. I had a great experience with Bamboo Flooring Hawaii, including the introduction of a brand new product that is painted on to the concrete base and prevents moisture from coming through. I was referred to a consultant who provided complimentary service to come out and measure the moisture in my floor. I was then asked to allow the bamboo to cure for several weeks to ensure it had acclimated to the climate in my neighborhood. This required tons of patience; but the final result was well worth it.
