Just went in to get my sights put on. Quick in and out so I dunno anything about the actual gunsmithing.

So I bought this brand new 23 inch AK VEPR in 762.54r to make into an imitation dragunov. I bought these sick Dragunov stocks that were supposedly made to fit. I tried fitting it on but it needed some slight fitting between the wood and lower receiver. Called a bunch of gunsmiths and nobody knew how to work with wood; however, then I called a bunch of woodworkers and none of them knew anything about guns! I went to these guys and they fixed my rifle perfectly. These guys worked crazy fast and were really efficient. Sal took extra time at no charge to make sure the fit was perfect. They even had spare parts off another AK because the inner grip bolt wasn't long enough for the new stock. I'm definitely going there again for my next late night gunsmithing help. read more

These Guys are in a tucked away shop in in Cerritos off of the 605 frwy. However when you get inside, WOW is it unique! The Guys are friendly, knowledgeable and got my little 38 fixed in 15 minutes. This place is amazing. I went in not expecting much because it's in a somewhat obscure place that was a bit difficult to find at night, but I was blown away. The decor in this place is one of a kind. You feel like you're on a movie set, of a genius tinker's workshop or something. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was. I went in to have a scope mounted/leveled/zeroed/whatever on my new AUG. The guy helping me (young hippie dude with long blonde hair. I forget his name) was really cool. He let me look around the workshop and observe him doing the work (drilling, machining, etc.) and they have a LOT of unique guns on display (not for sale) that you can't see or touch anywhere else. Guy was really friendly, and it's so obvious he knows everything there is to know about guns and smithing, and you can tell he really cares about the craft. Very kind guy, spent lots of time teaching me stuff he knew I didn't know about my gun or guns in general, and gave me many tips. Overall I spent a good 2 hours there waiting for the people ahead of me to get their work finished, but it flew by. Really cool place, definitely recommend for any gun-related work. Oh and I went to go shoot right after, and made the slight adjustments he told me I would have to (I had zero experience how scopes work when I walked into Gunsmith Kats) and was pleasantly surprised to see that all my shots were dead center. 10/10 read more

A hidden gem, not only because of their friendly and knowledgeable service but also because of all the odds and ends they have on display. I was tempted to ask about the modified violin case that concealed a weapon :) On the technical front, they knew exactly what was wrong, fixed it on the spot, gave me advice and even charged me a very reasonable rate. I went there to get work done on two 1911 type pistols. One involved a few parts swap and it was done promptly. The other pistol needed fitting of the "grip safety." Staff named Sal worked on the pistol. The part was properly fit and I appreciate that the blending was done with the "grip safety" in the pressed position. He was straightforward about the status of the work and what was done. The shop was adequately kept and staff were friendly. They have some interesting things on display. I have wandered Los Angeles area to find a good gunsmith. This shop was the 4th one, and this was my most positive experience so far. Two of the previous ones botched a sight installation, and in another one I had to deal with a somewhat eccentric personality. I wonder if the name is related to a Japanese manga popular some time ago. Anyway, I would recommend the place. read more

First time going to a gunsmith and have to say that this place is great. The staff is very friendly, the place looks amazing and their service rocks. I went here yesterday to have them get my handgun unbound. They took it and had it fixed in 2min. They also was able to indentify my grandfather's rifle that we brought back from WW2. They were able to identify it and give me some information about it. They do the work right than and there while you wait. They did not charge me for anything, but asked me to give a good review. Even if they didn't ask for the review, I would have gave a 5 star anyway. I would totally recommend this gunsmith to anyone that needs some work done. read more

Called on a Saturday and spoke with Sal. Was able to get me in a couple of hours later to install sights on a pistol and help remove a bullet button from a lower receiver that must've been glued at the manufacturer. Everything was done in less than 40 minutes. The waiting room is setup with cool items in various display cases and on the wall. The place is clean and everyone is friendly. Brought over my Mosin Nagant over to be looked at. She was rusted up pretty bad and they pointed me in the right direction on how to handle the problem correctly on my own befor a sank some cash for them to do it. Had a roll pin stuck in the bolt catch. I tried everything but I could just not get it out. Took it in, 20-30 mins later, they had it out. Fair prices, great service. Will go again if needed.
