I have seen photos of these amazing soft serves for YEARS and I finally had the chance to stop by. I had a matcha soft serve in an ube cone and it was SO GOOD. If you're looking for something super sweet I would go with a different flavor. This was not very sweet and tasted like pure matcha, I loved it. The prices are high but its a great treat once in a while.

Yummy and sweet matcha flavor with whipped cream on top. Clean and quit restaurant right on the Emerald Necklace Public Park.

This might be the best Matcha Cafe Maiko location I've visited. As always, I was overwhelmed with the menu and decided to be basic with a matcha latte. Soft serve at this chain is always a good option as well. Anyways, great service and very efficient. Music was a bit loud inside, but there are a few seats for work and felt like a nice environment for productivity. Matcha Latte - strong matcha flavor but a bit too sweet, so the matcha was overpowered. Could have a better umami flavor with the grassy roots exposed, but the matcha is definitely present. I greatly appreciated that they didn't fill the cup with ice without me asking. There was just enough to keep the drink cold. Powder could have been sifted more or whisked longer as there were some small clumps, but overall very solid.

We had a craving for a sweet treat after brunch and decided to stop here. Parking was brutal and after 10 mins circling the area, we gave up. We decided to get something to go while the other person would take the car around the block once again. Thankfully the cafe was quiet on a Saturday afternoon and I could get my order in just a minute. The menu is big and can make you contemplate what you want to get but we went with a soft serve ice cream and got two flavors, Ube and Thai tea. The ube was our favorite while the Thai tea had a strong flavor which would've been perfect as milk tea but wasn't the best as an ice cream flavor. We will definitely come back to try the matcha but probably park a mile away and walk!

Super yummy ice cream, I thoroughly enjoyed it even on a chilly night! I got thai tea and matcha ice cream, half/half in a cone. They also have other flavors- ube and black sesame. Some flavor combos you can get as a swirl instead of half/half. The size of the cone/cup is very large as well. By the time I got through the thai tea to the matcha part, the cone had already started to lose its structural integrity (still tasted good, though). The matcha tasted super rich, even in soft serve ice cream form. I do wish the thai tea flavor had been a bit stronger, but it still tasted great. Highly recommend this place for a sweet treat, and I hope to return to try their matcha drinks!

Came here for a drink and snack. The place was crowded with limited seating. The drinks we for were okay nothing special about it. The ice cream was good very creamy. The flavor was good.

I've had matcha cafe maiko in other cities before and this is consistent. Solid quality matcha softserve. Friend liked his matcha latte. Matcha bubble waffle tasted plain. No issues with service. Decent amount of seating for small groups inside.

I can't believe it took me this long to try out this spot. I got the Maiko Special with matcha and strawberry ice cream and it was so satisfying. The ice cream is creamy and smooth with a good level of matcha/sweetness. There were so many layers to the cup with makes it not so heavy to indulge in. The large size was plenty for two to share but I think even the med would be enough for two. We went pretty close to closing time so seating was put away. They were super speedy with getting our order ready within a few minutes.

The ice cream was good, but the matcha flavor overpowered the ube. Although, the matcha drink was delcious! Friendly service and fun ambiance. I go to the Orlando location frequently since I moved away from Boston. I will say, Boston's location is better for Matcha.

Came here after getting brunch with my friend and my son. It was a short walk. When we arrived it wasn't busy so we were able to order right away. The people are very accommodating and nice. There's so much matcha selection on the menu so it was hard for us to choose. We got the matcha cream and matcha soft serve with ube cone for my son. The service was pretty quick so we got the ice cream so quickly. Seating area is pretty clean and they have spaces for us to sit. It's moderate for the loudness and they have some music playing. Would Love to come back and try other matcha deserts from the menu.

Love this location of matcha maiko for the quick service and lots of seating options. I love all their hojicha options in tea, parfait or ice cream form. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

This place is so cute! Extremely clean inside including the bathroom. We arrived 1-2 min before they opened and as soon as they opened the door, ordered ube, matcha, hojicha and yuzu ice creams and frappes. I LOVED the yuzu frappe so much, the weekend I was in Boston we went twice and I got it both times. The ube is sweet but not sickly sweet. Perfectly balanced. I am not a fan of matcha, but my friend who orders the matcha ice cream said it was perfect. The Hojicha flavor was new to me, but it was pleasant and I would have that again for sure. I highly recommend going here for a cold sweet treat!

The matcha here is really quite delicious. I have been here a couple of times and really enjoyed it always. They are quick to get your order out too! Nice spot to relax and try a variety of different matcha items.

I built my own with custard fish, twist ice cream, caramel sauce, and Oreo crumbs. Beautiful presentation and honestly delicious. The cone smelled and tasted so great. The custard is more of a cream but still good. Where I'm being picky: the cone could've been a little crispier and the toppings were pretty minimal. I couldn't taste or see any of the caramel sauce and the Oreo dust is so fine I think I inhaled more of it into my lungs than I actually ate. I wish it was actual mashed up pieces not fine dust. We will definitely be back though! I just won't get Oreo crumbs next time.

We got our ice cream and ate out in the courtyard area, seaport is such a nice place. I got a matcha soft-serve in a taiyaki cone with red bean, and my bf got a vanilla one. The ice cream and taiyaki fish tasted great, my only gripe was how incredibly messy it was to eat. There was such a large volume of ice cream in the cone itself that I wasn't able to eat fast enough and it started melting all over my hands and arms. Like it was crazy. I was eating this ice cream like an animal. It would be nice if they served this with a cup or something. So I just feel like if you're not someone who can inhale a giant ice cream this is not for you. I would just get a plain taiyaki fish treat with ice cream on the side.

I've heard folks raving about this place for years, so finally decided to swing by and try it out…read more First off, must say I'm a bit of a skeptic regarding specialty ice cream shops: with one exception (a now-defunct "frozen custard" shop in Friendswood, Texas of all places, where you could see the super-dense/rich stuff glacially oozing out of the machine, and one milkshake's worth of it kept me full for the rest of the day!) I have yet to find any that are significantly better than ordinary Haagen Daz from a supermarket. In fact, most ice cream parlour ice creams aren't even as good, while costing orders of magnitude more than supermarket H-D! Toscanini's is close to equal to H-D in my book...and mainly for the fact that they offer some truly unusual and original flavors: we had the Mango Sticky Rice, Burnt Caramel, and Kulfi. My friend who enjoyed the first one the most, quickly tired of the second, and the third was my favorite by far, mainly because I love cardamom and saffron so much. I was somewhat conflicted with the Burnt Caramel...first taste was delightful, but halfway through the novelty faded away for the most part. We both appreciated that the ice cream was not hyper-sweet like JP Licks, though. HOWEVER, the extreme creaminess, density, and dry mouth-feel of H-D was just not there, as usual. I'd describe the texture of Toscanini's ice cream to be fairly ordinary, like a typical soft/smooth gelato texture. Not bad, but not anything I would really write home about. YMMV of course. Otherwise, service was good and the place is clean and pleasantly modern inside, with 3 nice new steel benches to sit at outside. The benches are curiously turned AWAY from the street, I suppose to foster more of a "communal" vibe and people-watching opportunities. I've walked by during peak hours and seen it quite full, so this place clearly is still quite popular. At $8.25 for 3 scoops (albeit fairly generous sized scoops) of oh, 8 out of 10 ice cream, I don't see myself ever becoming a regular here despite the undeniably interesting/unique flavors, unless I came mainly for the people-watching opps on a nice weather day.

If I had gone to the Harvard location I would have been in and out in 5-10 minutes. That was not the case at the North End location but in fairness it was Friday night and around the time people want dessert. The North End location had four lines from the counter to the door with the line out the door. They take cash only but while you wait you have plenty of time to decide on what you actually want to get. They have 10+ cannoli flavors plus many other pastries. We opted for a pistachio cannoli and a amaretto cannoli. The cannoli were twice the size of what I was anticipating so we split one on Friday and split the other on Saturday. If I went back I'd get the amaretto again. The pistachio was mostly ricotta tasting. If you go, go early and bring cash!

Having enjoyed cannoli in Italy and éclairs in various places across Europe, I found these pastries to be overrated and not worth the wait--even if there had been no line and everything was half-price. The chocolate éclair looked unappealing and was quite dry. The filling was excessively sweet and left an artificial aftertaste. The cannoli shells lacked the crispness I expected, and again, the filling was overwhelmingly sweet with what tasted like artificial ingredients. I honestly don't understand the hype. My guess is that much of it comes from social media influencers who may not have experienced similar pastries in Europe. Yet whenever someone visits Boston, they're told they "have to" try Mike's Pastry. For me, it simply didn't live up to its reputation. Disappointing. Oh, it is only cash. Hm...
