The buns are soft with a slightly crispy crust on top which is really good. It kind of reminds me of Cantonese bolo buns, but with a Korean twist. When you walk in you can smell the fresh buns baking which makes it even harder to resist. They're honestly pretty addicting and I always find myself wanting another one. Sobok Sobok is a great find in the area. I was looking for a quick breakfast spot and they had a coffee bun with coffee combo. For the price point, it was a good deal! The base of the coffee bun is fluffy and pillowy, making it wonderfully soft to bite into. I got the chocolate flavor and it had that subtle sweetness with a hint of buttery richness. As for the appearance, this is where I think it could have been more visually appealing. It comes in a white paper bag but because the coffee bun is warm, the chocolate chips melted into the paper already! Guess it can't be helped! I was very happy at how warm the coffee bun was on this cold day, complementing the Korean coffee I was drinking with it. I believe it was originally sharing the location with Tutti Frutti. I can't find a place that can match the aroma, texture and flavoring of their coffee buns. Crispy edges, soft base, creamy filling. Since they close later in the day after 6pm, I thought coming here at 4pm the day before NYE would be okay but it seems they don't bake additional bread later on the the day. Apparently the minis are sold out around noon and I was recommended to preorder the day before. Also, beware if you have tree nut allergy because the crust toppings get cross contaminated with the almonds and walnuts at the end of the day. They were generous with samples, so we got to try the matcha, strawberry Dole, pineapple Dole, and milk flavors. Every single one was delicious. Ok so came here with a toddler to try their ice cream. We got strawberry dole small size. It was ok, nothing fancy. However, the problem comes with the spoons they served with. It's a very cheap plastic material. It's a small, cute but easily broken. As my toddler took a spoonful of ice cream and the toddler probably just bit some of spoon and it cracked into pieces. I panicked and told the toddler to spit everything out. It was broken into pieces and I told the worker about it and he gave me a silver spoon. I have passed by Sobok Sobok too many times to count over the past few years, but what always intrigued me were the fresh aromas wafting from the bakery every time I walked by. Original Coffee Bun $3.50 * Sobok Sobok buns are made without caffeine and preservatives. This is great that they have these posted around the bakery because some people are sensitive to caffeine, and they are also safe for children to eat. They also sell buns individually or in gift box sets, along with combo menus with a drink or a dessert. Their drink menu includes coffee, tea, smoothies, and juice. I was welcomed as I stepped up to the register. Since I already picked up food before our visit to Sobok Sobok, I ended only picking up an Original Coffee Bun. It is a bit pricey, especially as there is no filling or etc. but it did have the "melt in your mouth" taste. It did kind of remind us of the HK pineapple buns, with the "texture" on top of the bun. The bun was fresh and soft. The interior and restroom are pretty clean. I do not think the A/C was on though, so it was a bit warm on the inside. So instead, we went with the original, walnut, and yogurt chip buns to take home and enjoy with coffee. At first, to be honest I wasn't impressed. However, the original coffee bun stood out with its strong, lingering coffee flavor that's almost magical. The next day, I found myself craving it--like I was hooked! Fast forward to Christmas Day: we made a special trip to grab more, since we were glad to find out they were open! only to arrive 40 mins before closing and learn they'd sold out their buns entirely and shut early. It was such a letdown. The enticing aroma of coffee led me to this place. On the right side directly after the entrance, there were racks of delicious looking buns topped with a variety of flavors. I decided to order 3 chocolate chips and 3 yogurt chips buns, which came up to $22.90. Well it was worth the price! The buns were so soft and slightly warm, while the chocolate chips were melting away inside the bag. Proofs that these buns were freshly baked and probably just came out of the oven not long before my arrival. I'm actually surprised to know that the buns don't have caffeine on them. In my most recent visit, I decided to try something different and ordered their injeolmi red bean bingsu. Injeolmi red bean bingsu: 3.5/5. There is plenty of red bean on top and even more buried underneath the ice. The injeolmi powder gives the bingsu a sweet and nutty flavor. There's not that many people here so not much of a wait required. We tried ordering the bingsu but we were told that they were closing up soon and needed people to be out of the store by 8:50pm. My friend and I decided to gamble and ordered the Injeolmi Red Bean Bingsu anyways and tried to finish the whole thing within 10 minutes. I would have to say, the Bingsu was surprisingly very delicious! It had a creamy texture that was more akin to shaved snow and the Injeolmi and Red Bean toppings gave it a very well balanced flavor. Unfortunately we were not able to finished the whole thing before they kicked about at 8:50pm so we had to walk across to the In n Out to finish the Bingsu which wouldn't have been a problem except that it was 50 degrees outside in November.
