Authentic Japanese matcha with intense flavor! Maiko Matcha Café imports all of its green tea directly from Harima Garden in Uji, Kyoto, Japan, and you can really taste the quality of the matcha. Parking: Free parking with plenty of spaces in the complex. Service: fast efficient No public restroom. Seating: A few benches inside, but this is more of a grab-and-go spot than a café for hanging out. Recommendations: *Matcha Soft Serve Super creamy with an intense matcha flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. The matcha tastes high-quality and is definitely the highlight for me. If you're a matcha lover, I highly recommend trying it! *Boba Sundae Matcha soft serve topped with kuromitsu boba and a drizzle of kuromitsu syrup. The combination of creamy matcha and the rich brown-sugar flavor was delicious. *Maiko Special Parfait (Matcha) Made with matcha cream, matcha chiffon, chestnuts, and shiratama mochi. A nice combination of different textures and matcha flavors. Product quality: exceptional/highest. Flavor: excellent. Overall, a great place to satisfy a serious matcha craving, especially if you prefer your matcha rich and flavorful rather than overly sweet.
After lunch dessert here was a great idea! The place has a couple seats for you to sit and wait and enjoy your ice cream cones and drinks but no tables. Service is always nice and quick. We ordered the regular vanilla and half n half matcha vanilla and a strawberry matcha latte to enjoy. The ice cream is always sweet and creamy! The cone is always crispy/crunchy and has a sweet taste to it!The matcha is truly a delicious matcha! The strawberry matcha was great! Creamy sweetness with matcha taste. A must if you're in south sac! Come get yourself a come and enjoy on hot days or cool days!
Stopped by on a Thursday in the late afternoon and was surprised to find the shop completely empty. I was also pleasantly surprised by how reasonably priced everything was, especially the drinks and soft serve. With prices seeming to go up everywhere these days, this spot felt like a great value. I ordered the Hojicha Latte, while my sister got the Boba Sundae with half matcha and half seasonal mango soft serve. My drink came out almost immediately, which makes sense since it was pre-made, while the sundae took a couple of minutes to prepare. The Hojicha Latte was delicious with a rich, roasted flavor that was smooth and satisfying. The sundae was equally enjoyable. The soft serve was creamy, the boba was soft and perfectly chewy, and the seasonal mango flavor reminded me of mango pudding--sweet, fruity, and refreshing. The matcha paired nicely with the mango and added a nice balance. Overall, this is a great spot if you're in the area and looking for a reasonably priced drink or a refreshing sweet treat. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu!
Friendly and quick customer service. The matcha flavor in the strawberry matcha latte, matcha frappe, and matcha latte float are really rich & authentic. So, if you like to taste actual matcha flavor in your drinks, then this is the spot. Another popular item is the soft serve. The cafe is very small. It seems more like a to-go type of cafe as there is very limited seating. FYI: no restrooms available for customers.
5/17/26 My son wanted Matcha Maiko so here we are! Grabbed my usual boba sundae! Quick and easy yummy dessert! Hot day today so it melted pretty fast! Service was on point and ambiance is as expected.
Super good matcha ice cream and drinks ! Quick service even though there was a lot of people ! The ambiance felt like some of the shops in Japan ! My friend loved the banana matcha.. I will get that one next time !

Strawberry Sundae - the sweet level hits right Ube Soft Serve - Delightful to the cone Staff is accommodating and helpful. Parking lot is very busy. Found a spot at the dentist office in the nearby lot. Benches inside were available to sit and talk while eating our dessert. Could be busy but crowds clear out quickly.
I love Matcha in this place is a great place to go to for Matcha. We walked in and there was a worker at the front if we had questions there was a menu on the side of the wall or a kiosk to look at all the different items. The worker took our order quickly, and we had the Matcha with red bean and mochi. The little Matcha Café itself had beautiful paintings on the wall and was bright and vibrant. I really enjoyed my Matcha as it was a flavorful taste and didn't just taste like milk since it is a ice cream. I was worried that was possible. I would be back to try other items when we're not so full.
I have finally went to the Matcha Cafe and overall had a good experience! My friend and I are huge matcha lovers and the soft serves were strong in matcha flavor and the right amount of sweetness that doesn't overpower the flavor. Also the soft serve was not icy at all and perfectly creamy. The service was friendly and timely with getting through the line. The only thing I wished was that their seating area was open. The cafe is a cute and clean space but they had their chairs and tables stacked into each other and said to please not sit or move chairs. I'm not really sure why but it would have been nice since it's currently hot in Sacramento so my friend and I had to eat our soft serves in his car. Again overall a great experience and I'm glad this location is here!
Japanese desserts are so delicious and my favorite place to get some is at Matcha Cafe Maiko! I have tried many different items from them because almost everything they offer interests me. I love their soft serve and drinks because it's creamy, has the right amount of tea flavor, and it is not too sweet! The item prices can range between $5-$10 depending on what you order and any special add-ons. Service is quick and the employees are friendly. The store itself is small, with limited seating, and parking can be difficult because the lot is small and it is located in a plaza with many other popular stores. I like the art mural on the wall and coming here always gives me relaxing summer vibes. I recommend getting soft serve in a cup so that you can enjoy it at your own pace without having to worry that it will drip and make your hands sticky. You can also get a soft serve in a cone and request for it to be upside down! Their black sesame drink is my personal favorite and if I am feeling fancy I will also get a matcha latte and mix it together.
Came in on a Saturday night, all the benches were full of people so I figured it must be good. I got the matcha sundae with adzuki in a cup. The matcha was good, paired with the sweet adzuki (red bean) and a couple mochi balls it was decent. Not too sweet & not too bitter. If you plan on coming with friends (as I did) be mindful of the little space to sit. They had tables but they were laid up so no one could use them. Overall, good experience but wouldn't go outta my way to visit again.
My daughter has been begging me to bring her back here to get some matcha icecream. This place still hasn't disappointed me. The decorations are still simple and beautiful as ever. The staff are very welcoming. The desserts are delicious like they've always been. We'll be coming back when we want some matcha.
It's so nice to have a Matcha Cafe Maiko location in Sac so I don't have to get my fix in SF. This location is tiny, but service has always been fast and friendly. There is plenty of parking as it's in the same area as many other delicious restaurants in south Sac. There are several benches for sitting, but they're intentionally small so you don't hang out there. Most people get their drinks and desserts to go. I'm not really too big on desserts so I've gone for their drinks both times I've been. I got a chance to try my friend's boba sundae, however, and that was really good. I've had their matcha float and their black sesame latte, and was pleased with the flavors of both. Their ice cream is so good without being heavy. I've only had their matcha ice cream but would love to try their black sesame ice cream next time I go. I already love going to south Sac to eat, and need to make it a point to come to Matcha Cafe Maiko more often for my matcha fix. I will be back. read more

I've been here for a couple years now and they never disappoint every time!! I tried their monthly flavors with the matcha floats and recently tried their hojicha latte float which was SOO GOOD. Also, I've been craving for their banana matcha latte for a while ever since they came out with this item like a year ago so I had to come back when i saw that they're selling it again. Banana Matcha Latte - 8.2/10 I got this with soy milk and honestly it tastes really good although since their matcha is premade, you can't really adjust the sweetness and I wish the matcha a bit less sweet especially since the banana cream top is already sweet itself. Also, the soy milk gives the creaminess without overpowering the matcha too much. The banana cream top has a nice banana flavor (although kind of tastes artificial) but it's still very tasty especially with the Biscoff biscuits and fresh bananas on top. One thing to note is that they don't put a lot of ice in the drink so even when the drink is diluted, you can still taste the prominence of the matcha. The workers are pretty nice and they have really fast service even during rush hours. Also, this place is quite small so it's more of a to-go spot. I would mainly recommend coming to this spot if you're looking for high-quality matcha desserts since that's what they're really known for. I would definitely come back if I happen to be nearby. read more

This location of Matcha Cafe Maiko does compare well to the other locations! My friend and I stopped by here on a weekday evening, and there were plenty of people who came by as we enjoyed our dessert within the cafe. I tried their vanilla and matcha soft serve. The matcha's deep and earthy flavor complemented the light and creamy vanilla, and the portion size was generous for a dessert. My friend got their Matcha Tea and commented on the strong taste that he loved of the matcha. Love this place and its numerous locations for a clean and refreshing dessert! read more

My friend took me here on a Friday afternoon, and I'm so glad she shared one of her favorite matcha spots! She ordered her normal, matcha cheese foam. I got the banana matcha. Both drinks were absolutely delicious! You can really get the taste of the foam and the banana. It was so creamy and tasty. Not a place to sit down and drink though. They have benches to sit on while you wait for your order. But they have the chairs stacked on the tables, so it doesn't look very inviting. read more

Maiko special with matcha-vanilla swirl: very good! We could taste matcha flavor in the soft serve. The vanilla swirl gave a bit of sweetness to the ice cream. The crunchy corn flakes were perfect. The adzuki beans at the bottom were perfectly paired with matcha flavor. They gave a lot of jelly pieces but I only got 1 piece of chestnut and 2 pieces of mochi balls. read more
Haven't been here in awhile over 3yrs. Thought I'd give it another try. Stopped in for a strawberry matcha. It was good. Stopped in around 3ish & it was busy. Staff were ok. There's benches to sit but not a lot of seating. No tables. Just order and leave to enjoy your drink. Not a place to really sit and hang out. read more

Worth it every time. Love the matcha, strawberry matcha swirl, and hojicha flavors. The waffle cone is also delish! Tried a couple of the drinks and wasn't feeling it. There is a parking lot but always difficult to find parking on busy weekends. There is also some indoor seating available. read more

I love matcha cafe maiko!!! It's soooo good!! Been back plenty of times. High quality matcha forsure. Their matcha lattes are very creamy and never watered down. I enjoy getting the matcha latte floats with their soft serve. One of my fav soft serves in sac, super creamy. Their cones are really good too, thin and crispy. Service was pretty quick and plenty of parking in the front. But they didn't really have any seating options expect for the few benches they have inside. Luckily we were able to find a spot to sit. One of the best places in town for a matcha! I love this little shop in the heart of little Saigon. It serves just about every version of matcha beverage you can image and ice cream as well! We came on July 4 and they were open and ready for business. Offerings: - Maiko Special: A matcha soft serve with extra toppings. I'm not a fan of red bean and there was quite a bit. The matcha cake was not the freshest but the crispy texture of the cornflakes made up for this. The mochi and agar jelly are also fun differing textures. - Matcha lemonade: definitely what it can be described as. I would say it's more on the tart side than sweet. - Matcha Soft Serve: great! Strong matcha flavor and the perfect treat on a hot day! There are a few places to sit inside and a few tables shared with other establishments. read more

This is my go-to place whenever I'm craving for a matcha drink. Tried out the strawberry matcha latte today. Loved the sweetness of the strawberry puree mixed in with the matcha. I did, however, wished that the matcha taste was a bit stronger. I do recommend trying the matcha kuromitsu Kinako latte which has added Japanese black honey syrup and roasted soybean powder. This is probably my favourite drink. read more
If you love matcha and hojicha, then Maiko is the best for you! Matcha is much easier to find nowadays but with hojicha it's still pretty limited. I can always count on this cafe to get my hojicha fix, which is roasted green tea and lower in caffeine. Maiko offers soft serves, parfaits, lattes and floats. Their main soft serve flavors are matcha and vanilla. They offer seasonal flavors like ube, jasmine and hojicha. Unsure of how often they get rotated so it's best to call ahead if see what flavors they're offering. You can really taste the matcha in their soft serve; it is strong AF. You can get the flavors swirled but only matcha and vanilla can be paired together. They do have the option to do half matcha and half another flavor stacked on top. I most recently tried their matcha and jasmine combo and it was very tea-y and flavorful. If you fancy jasmine tea, then their soft serve is a must-try! You can get it in a cup or cone, but the latter I highly recommend. It's a perfect way to finish your cool treat. When I'm not in a soft serve mood, I usually opt for their Hojicha frappalatte. It is finely iced, caramel-y, nutty with a splash of sweetness. It's perfect anytime of the year. This location is in a busy plaza so parking can fill up quickly. The shop is small, with a few benches and no available table. They have a cool mural on the side of the store and fun post-its that customers have written/doodled on. Overall, pretty good quality matcha drinks, soft serve and treats. Their prices are reasonable for the area and their service is pretty quick. Just order and gtfo because when it's busy, it'll be a little difficult to maneuver around people! read more

Matcha cafe maiko is my go to place when I'm grabbing a matcha in Sacramento or SF. The matcha is not overly sweet and the flavor is authentic. I find it's less busy on weekdays. 10/10 will keep coming back. read more

Must come in at least once a month to try their icecream flavor of the month! My faves are: Banana Pandan Ube Lychee Service is quick, staff is always friendly. Fave orders are of course the soft serve cones, Boba sundae w/vanilla icecream, the Coffee Jelly drink with Honeycomb Toffee Milk and more! The menu is endless and hard to choose from. Don't forget to tip them! read more

We finally made it to Matcha Cafe Maiko. The spot isn't that big and they were busy!!!! The guy working was super nice and helpful. We decided on a Banana Matcha, Matcha Coffee & a Matcha and Vanilla Swirl Soft Serve (in a cup). Even though it was pretty crowded and the line was to the door, our order was ready super fast! Amazing! The Banana Matcha (not on the menu) was absolutely delightful. No artificial flavors. Matcha is creamy. And it's topped with fresh banana slices! The Matcha Coffee was delish! Definitely more matcha than coffee but smooth and refreshing. The soft serve was creamy and the matcha flavor was perfection! Perfect on this hot summer day! We can't wait to go back! 10/10 read more
Matcha Cafe Maiko has some of the best matcha desserts. This is the third location I've tried and it's still good. On this visit, I tried the matcha soft serve on a waffle cone. The worker swirl it and sprinkled it beautifully. It tasted delicious! The matcha flavor was just right. We also ordered a chocolate soft serve, but a different worker swirled it and it was very messy. I didn't try the chocolate one, but the consensus was that it was good. The shop only had benches on one side for people to sit, which was okay, but it would have been better with some tables. There were tables that were stacked and unavailable for use on the other side of the store. Service was quick and efficient. read more
Visited Matcha Cafe Maiko after having lunch nearby. Didn't realize it was a chain but definitely noticed the rather crowded interior for matcha treats! The inside is quite small already, with one side dedicated to benches and seating for waiting customers, and one side for the line/ordering. There's a big Japanese mural on one side of the wall and the menu on another. My friend and I ended up ordering: Golden Sho-gun 24k gold cone - honestly we were intrigued by the high price and what it would entail. It is literally a waffle cone of soft serve of choice (we went with matcha, duh), and gold flake. If you order this, simply know this would just be for the 'gram. Black sesame float with matcha soft serve - I liked how black sesame-y it was, though I wished I got the matcha/vanilla soft serve instead to de-intensify the matcha flavor battling with the black sesame. Hojicha latte - I recall my friend liking this drink. Overall the treats were OK, but would be okay to return to try a different item! read more

This place was packed! I was there with my bff for about 45 min and most of time there was a line out the door. The line did move pretty quickly, even with some of the staff doing training. I've tried matcha drinks here before and they've been pretty good. During this visit, I got the matcha and jasmine soft serve swirl. The jasmine was so good and fragrant - I actually liked it a bit more than the matcha side. The soft serve is a pretty big portion and was a bit sweet for my taste when I finished it. The inside area has some benches that you can sit at to enjoy your treats. It can get a bit crowded though so may not be that comfortable to chill there for too long. read more

I feel like an idiot. I just ordered a drink with shiratama mochi (4 to be exact) for the first time. Do these mochi dissolve in the drink because I did not see any mochi in my drink?
I don't think the mochi would've dissolved in the drink. The workers might've just forgotten to add them.
