Was looking for an ice cream place in the area, something that wasn't a big chain. Happily came upon Babes, which is in fact part of the Pushkin's family, a local franchise in Sacramento. All of their ice creams are coconut milk based instead and the three I tasted were SO.DAMN.GOOD. My man ordered the salted caramel and it was delicious, but not what I was in the mood for that night. I was on the fence between the blueberry cheesecake and the peach cobbler. I really wanted a scoop of both, but I just wasn't that hungry. I decided on the peach cobbler, and I'm still dreaming about it. The sweet peaches, the essence of cream, and that buttery slightly salty crust. From the street front this place doesn't look like much but when you go in, there are a couple tables and a counter you can eat at and then there is a massive kitchen in the back. The girl at the front explained to me that they ship a lot of their products to other businesses in town. We will definitely return to this business. read more

I love babes! Their ice cream is vegan but it seriously does not taste vegan. Super creamy and rich. I've been twice but need to visit more regularly because every time I go I remember how good it is. They have limited seating inside, but the acoustics are horrible so it gets loud in there quickly lol. read more

For a vegan ice cream and donut spot, this place offers some really great, unique flavors and the product tastes good! I was able to taste the blueberry cobbler and the chunky monkey. Both tasted very good but slightly different without dairy. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the flavor and textures. My friend ended up with the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie which was also great. I love a crunch or different texture mixed in. She did mention that the Rocky Road tasted a bit off because of the lack of dairy and the texture was a bit unusual. The staff were polite and patient and the place didn't seem that crowded for a Thursday around dinner time. I suppose with Ginger Elizabeth's and Rick's Dessert Diner all on the same strip, there is a lot of competition for dessert places here. We were happy to try something new. Such a cute spot in Sacramento! Babes is cute, welcoming, friendly, and has lots of delicious options. The Salted Caramel Cookie Dough and Chocolate Swirl Nutella ice cream flavors were both so good: creamy, flavorful, and very satisfying. Gluten free donuts!! I found this spot on a brief visit recently and had a craving for a pastry. I had to try it! My eye was first drawn to the churro, I haven't been able to have one in years, I was so excited. It was everything I ever wanted in a churro. Crispy outside, fluffy inside, and coated with cinnamon sugar. I could have polished off a dozen of them! The apple fritter was also on my must try list. I grew up loving apple fritters and since having to go GF, it is my most missed donut-adjacent treat. This one was smaller than a normal one, but that was fine because I could actually enjoy it without it being too big. Perfectly fluffy with apple pieces and spiced just right, it was delicious. The cruellers were nice and crispy on the outside and just sweet enough. Glazed with chocolate or regular icing, they are a perfect donut. I put a similar review on google when I came here on Mother's Day and no cones. Do better when you know it's going to be a busier time. So today, on another holiday, the unofficial end of summer, I wanted my favorite ice cream. To my surprise (not really) NO CONES! I left and did not purchase anything after making the drive. We stumbled upon this place since we parked here when we went to lunch and when we got back in the car, I noticed across the street it said donuts! So we got back out and trotted over to see. Very surprised to see that they are gluten-free and vegan and we are not however we figured let's give them a try. We chose a Russian tea cookie flavor, almond Joy, chocolate, apple fritter, and a lemon cream. We were full from lunch so we save these for dessert after dinner and we're pleasantly surprised on how delicious they were. They were moist and almost had a mochi doughnut type of consistency. My favorite was the lemon cream. It was very flavorful and melted in your mouth. They also serve ice cream here which I heard was one of their big sellers in the evenings. It's right next to Ginger Elizabeth so come give them a try the flavor combinations are great and I'm assuming they have different ones every so often if not daily. Very friendly staff they are card only which makes sense down here in the evenings probably not safe to have cash around. They are also 1,000 percent vegan, but that did not scare me away! Even though I was eyeballing the ice cream, I decided to take home a few donuts - I went with the Ferrero Rocher, the Cruller and the Gingerbread. My favorite of the 3 was definitely the Ferrero Rocher - I loved the crunch from the nuts! The donuts were more dense than fluffy, but they were a lot better than some non vegan donut places that I've been too! They tasted fresh, but they were also very sweet - no complaining though. I love that this spot is 100% Vegan and Gluten Free. I have family members who cannot have any gluten and places like this make them feel safe and at ease ordering and enjoying a treat. They're open Monday through Sunday 8am until 9pm which makes it easy to enjoy their treats all day long. On our latest visit we stopped by in the morning and there were a bunch of families coming by for a Sunday morning donut visit as well. It was popular! We ended up ordering a strawberry rainbow sprinkle donut ($2.50) and a raspberry white chocolate pistachio donut ($3). We ate them both outside at one of the tables. The consistency is different than other donuts, a bit chewier, but the flavor was spot on, especially for the raspberry white chocolate one. A full gluten free facility, when I asked for a waffle cone with ice cream I had to clarify it was gluten free. It tasted so delicious and didn't break apart like other gluten free cones. We just left Babes and I am obsessed! This is such a cute little vegan breakfast spot and I am so happy we found it. The inside is absolutely adorable and even has a Frenchie on the wall! The store has a bright and bubbly vibe which I loved. The staff was super friendly and efficient making our drinks while we made donut decisions. The donuts are mouth watering and delectable!
