I probably had the worst experience. Call the store to ask about the delivery of my order and I received a mistreatment by telephone from a receptionist of that store. She was very grocery and challenged me to go to the store if I wanted to complain to her supervisor. I could not believe it. I bought a Sofa and just wanted to coordinate the delivery of my order. she would not stop talking and would not let me speak always use offensive terms. the name of the lady is Ciomara Sanchez. Maybe she has problems in her family life and her anger is discharging it with the clients. needs customer service classes. she is the image of the company and I feel now that all the employees in that place are equal to her. I bought a mattress and when it was delivered it had a very definite body impression on one side as if someone had slept in it. Once you put the sheet on it you could see where someone had been sleeping. I could only sleep on it one night as it was so uncomfortable that I went to sleep on my old mattress in the guest room. They sell you a waterproof mattress cover telling you that if you buy it and then don't like ithe mattress you can return it up to one year. I asked him what they did with the return mattresses and he said they were disinfected and sold in the sale area. I am thinking they just resell them as new. Even the pick up crew told me they could see the body imprint on the mattress. They did come and pick up the mattress but did not refund the 76.00 delivery fee even though it was their fault I didn't keep the mattress. read more

We have purchased from Mathis Brothers in Indio two times in the last 18 months. Michael Ortiz is a super star. No pressure sales, just fair and honest, and most of all....PATIENT! We spent the better part of two days in this store, with measuring tools, cameras, ordering, changing orders etc. And Michael was helpful and gave honest opinions about our ideas. I have been to this store as well as the Ontario store on a number of occasions and have been blown away each time by the quality of products (very large high end selection) and the prices (amazingly far lower than I expected having shopped around a lot). I came to Mathis Brothers in a bit of a bind having helped a family move into a new place down in the desert and needing to get them settled quickly. We spent the morning at Mathis Brothers and were able to try out a series of different options and by the end of the SAME DAY we had furniture delivered and installed in the home. I expected literally weeks of lag time but we had what we needed by dinner that night. That level of service is consistent with the experience I had with the Ontario store when I needed a home furnished in the San Francisco Bay Area. My one stop shop had my choices on a truck headed for SF the same day I picked them out. Faster than 24 hour internet order!!! These guys have exceeded my expectations time and time again and I had to share my excitement. I hope you have the same experience! read more

This is a huge store with a huge selection of furniture. The prices on some pieces seem fair, but other pieces seem overpriced. But the biggest negative is that you'll be hounded by salespeople the minute you walk in. To be fair, the saleswoman was very knowledgeable and nice, but I felt like I was being watched the entire time. If you just want to browse furniture in peace, that's not gonna happen here. If you don't mind that, then you'll enjoy the huge selection that they have. read more

DO NOT BUY MATTRESSES FROM THIS PLACE. Another day of waking up with a bad back because my $3000 mattress needs an INCH AND A HALF GAPING DIP to get some attention. Could you actually imagine sleeping on a mattress with an inch and a half dip? My one hip literally is way over the other one when laying on the bed!! This mattress was purchased as firm & its far from it. When I told them would you actually like to see a picture of me sloped bed with me laying on it they said no. We bought this "firm" mattress because my significant other had terrible back problems and now their back again bc of this swamp mattress. We have called everyone there is to call to no avail, no discretion, no conscious answers. We will be calling every single week. My receipt shows the correct item numbers that I thought I was purchasing and the prices I was quoted and paid in full. It was not a mistake on my part as you are insinuating but on the part of your staff. I have a copy of my receipt which clearly shows the correct items numbers and prices! This is horrible business and NOT acceptable. As a Manager myself, my company would not have handled this situation in the manner as your staff did. In the end your salesperson Rene Zapata was very rude and tried to make it seem as if I was trying to short change him or get these pieces for free because of his mistake. The reason for 1 star is the uncomfortable, pushy, aggressive, sales environment the owners or management have created. Take your worst expectation of the sales approach at a car dealer and multiply it. It is so uncomfortable that we won't go there any longer. There are usually 4 to 6 sales people all standing at the front door waiting to pounce on you. If you talk to one, they will then stalk you the entire time you are in the store. What would make the owners or management think this is a positive experience for their customers? If they are worried about losing business to internet retailers, they should look no further than how customers perceive them. I would much rather buy from a store locally, especially higher end furnishings, and we have bought several prices from this store, but I realized I am so anxious when we pull into the parking lot that it simply isn't worth it. read more

I cannot rave much more than I have about the service we recieved from both Coral and Kathi when we bought our furniture from Mathis Bros last week! They are both very knowledgeable and listened to what we were looking to buy. They showed us furniture that met our descriptions and suggested items that we didn't even know we would want but liked so much better! Coral and Kathi seemed like they really care about their customers and went above and beyond to work with our unique situation. When we went to look at furniture, we technically couldn't buy that day because we were still a few days out from escrow and couldn't make any large purchases before closing. Plus the fact that we were still living in LA at that point. Coral arranged it so that we could get our furniture delivered the day after we moved in to our new house and worked with us to make sure that all the paperwork was taken care of, even though we were out of towners. Neither Coral or Kathi were pushy. They let us wander around and look on our own. But they were kind enough to check up on us to see if we had any questions about item we had seen. I'm so glad we didn't go with the other "cheaper" alternative furniture stores in the Indio area. We will be returning to Mathis Bros again once we are ready to buy more furniture. read more

I can't even say I got good or bad service. When I came in I got greeted (so thank you greeter woman) and was in the store for almost 45 minutes. NOT 1 person asked if I needed help. I passed a lady in the store who got offered cold bottled water, the lady told the associate "no thank you" then walked on. We were right behind her and still the associate didn't even look at us. I went up to the manager Audrey and told her I'm assuming it's because I had two kids with me. She said that's not the case, but eh I'm in disbelief. So I guess if you want to get SOME service around here DON'T BRING YOUR KIDS!!!! I'm assuming that's the reason. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I bought a firm California King mattress after seeing the sample on the floor. Sample was only twin size, they did not have any king size mattress on display for testing. It was very firm with diamond shape cushions that gave me lumbar support, I was very pleased with the floor sample testing. But when we received the mattress at home we found that the edges of the mattress SAGGED HEAVILY when you sat on the mattress. Customer service sent a technician within a week. The technician found even though the edges were sagging the center of mattress was firm and you can sleep on it comfortably. He did find a protrusion on one side of the mattress which might be the cause of the problem. He felt that a sag of ten inches or more is normal. My 14 year old old mattress was firmer all round than this new one The next day customer service called me that since it was less than 7 days that we reported the problem they could have just exchanged the mattress and he was willing to exchange it right away but he thought that that particular brand all mattresses would be same, so i agreed to keep it thinking the mattress will remain firm away from the edges . But now it's been 25 days since we got it, It is beginning to sag horrendously whenever i move in the bed causes me sleepless nights with more pain in the lower back all day long. Customer Service is sending another technician to check what is wrong with the mattress and they claim that they will go by his finding not our complaint that the mattress is too soft. Bottom line is we bought a mattress that is supposed to be firm all across exactly like the one we saw and if it's not the same it should be returned without any questions. Now we are waiting for the technician to come and give a verdict and in case we cannot sleep on it and get worse with my back pain. we will have to do what we can. It seems that Mathis Brothers is selling faulty products and not rectifying the complaint, I wish that Mr. Mathis will intervene to keep up his good name read more

1. I was cruising around mattresses about 30 minutes, nobody was trying to help with simple advise (CUSTOMER SERVICE --100%). They don't have enough people to help you at all. That day I saw by little reception 3 men, they were chatting to each other. They even didn't say "How I can help you? 2. When my order was finally completed, I signed paperwork. Looks was everything fine, until my delivery. I asked them to reschedule delivery for another day and to deliver all items together. I talked to 5 different people. No one have any clue what's going on. One lady said I'm gonna call you back and I NEVER got call back from her. I waited until Monday. How much I was surprised, when I called them on Monday and they told me that my order is cancelled! 4 different people told me absolutely different info. Finally they connected me to the manager, she rescheduled my delivery on Thursday. We were waiting 1 week for this order, no discount , no apologies. Delivery department never called me in forward. We absolutely not gonna shop anymore at this store and I'm not gonna recommended to anyone. read more

I don't understand why there are so many negatives. I've purchased almost all my furniture for our desert home from Mathis. Ok, I"ll give you the hovering sales reps. but they didn't bother me. If they want to follow me around for 3 hours while I pick, choose and disregard thats their choice. We had Linda as our rep. and I found her to be very helpful. When I told her I was a slow shopper and was there a way I could just contact her when I've made some decisions? She gave me her cell #. I called as soon as we'd decided and the papers were written up. Delivery was perfect. A week later I realized I needed another end table in t.v. room. I think Mathis is in the top tier considering price and value ! The showroom is fantastic! Sharyn is the best ! Friends of ours recommend her to us. I am so glad that we met her. Ok, You get free star because we LOVE the couch we special ordered. But you lost three because of your service. Before we paid and were just looking we were well cared for. THEN, once the order was placed and money was put down we become an annoyance. We just wanted two extra matching pillows for the couch order. We were told no problem. Weeks later when there was no further communication we texted our salesman, who dismissed us and told us we were "so funny" and it was handled. A couple weeks later, still nothing. Turns out no one ordered them! So we speak to a manager. He says it will be handled and we should drive 45 minutes to the store to pay for the extra pillows and they will get right on it. 5 weeks later no pillows. THEN they call and say they no longer make the pillows in the color we had delivered in the couch. If this was done immediately when we asked, it would have come with the couch and we would have what we wanted. But we got the blow off repeatedly. THEN, when we were told we would get a refund, we heard nothing for a week. We had to call three times to get someone to give us our money back! You can find good furniture there, just be ready for difficult customer service.... read more

So we hit every furniture store in the area before we made a decision on where to buy .We decided on Mathis, because of a big selection at every price range. And fabulous customer service, especially from Mia!! We trusted her completely!! Also the order time for furniture was the best out of everyone else.
