It's over, this place is just not the same without Matt running it with his vibrancy, warmth and genuine care for customer satisfaction. The environment is like a tomb and the quality of the food is awful, all while charging a higher price. They're serving small, dried out overdone pieces of pizza for more money than ever. They're really skimping on the ingredients in the calzones and I think they've changed the dough and the dressing for the salad (for the worse). You can upgrade the physical interior of a building but without the food quality and ambiance, it's meaningless. Very Sad after all these years of great food, service and warmth. Ordered takeout. Pizza was below average at best. Sauce was bland, there was too much cheese to the point of sliding off and the dough seemed a bit undercooked. Breadsticks were horrible. Dough was not cooked all the way and there was no seasoning. I honestly can't believe anyone gave this 5 stars, especially someone claiming to be from NYC. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a pizza and received what seemed to be two halves of different pizzas that were not fresh. When I called them the owner answered and was unbelievably rude and disrespectful when explaining my problem. Napkins please, nope, here's some crummy paper towels. Water please, nope, we only have bottles. Balsamic please for salad, nope? Salad was iceberg w a bunch of those yellow chunks no one wants. This is really good pizza! Matt B's offers a no frills eatery with limited seating and counter service. The staff is relaxed and casual, and their primary focus is making great food. The pizza is the star attraction (two different styles of crusts, lots of toppings), but they have fresh salads and house-made dressing(s) too. For those on the go, they have several different pies already cooked, and you can order a slice (as is, or add toppings) and they'll pop it in the oven for a few minutes and send you on your way with a quick, hot meal for a nice price. It can get busy and hectic at times, and the noise level can get loud, especially if the music or TV is blaring. It is a small place, so it can get crowded with folks lining up to order, other people coming to pick up orders, and customers milling around to serve themselves (e.g. cutlery, napkins, drinks). They do have daily specials and carry-out specials as well, and I think they deliver, but I cannot recall. All in all, this is the exact kind of pizza joint every college town should have. read more

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. When I lived in MKY I would walk here from work very often. I was always dry pleased with the service and the food. Also, it's a real pizzeria. So I didn't eat here and I haven't been there. I live in California, and my best friend goes to Murray State and I wanted to surprise her for her birthday. So I called and asked them to spell 21 in pepperoni and write happy birthday on the lid and surprise her in the dorms. This is hands down my favorite restaurant anywhere. I've eaten here at least 500 times, maybe a thousand. The taste of the pizza is second to none. The friendliness of the staff is off the charts. It starts with the top guy, Matt B himself, and goes through everyone who works there. Matt B leads his employees by example and is truly one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Very good pizza - perhaps the best offered in Murray? I like the taste of the dough, sauce, and cheese they use. It tastes great while warm / hot, perhaps just average tasting if allowed to cool. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars, most likely because of my preference for Italian pizzas instead of American pizzas. Salads are quite big, if you like ham on your salad.
