Authentic made to order pasta. The pesto sauce is amazing, and even the parmesan cheese is fresh shredded. Outdoor tables face on to a wide sidewalk on a quieter side street. Do your tastebuds a favor and support a locally owned business at the same time. Open 11 to 8 pm, according to temporary hours posting.

Wow! Recommended to us by a local friend, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We had the chicken parm, Niçoise salad and kids pepperoni pizza, along with a side of roasted butternut squash. All was delicious, highly recommend.

Juan, the owner of the restaurant is extremely hospitable and provides amazing customer service.

When the locals visit a restaurant, it usually means it's good food. That's exactly the case with Penne Pasta Cafe. This is a small place with amazing food. The focaccia bread is totally amazing. The open face meatball sandwich and the open face egg plant Parmesan sandwich can't be missed. The taste is authentic and the portion sizes are amazing. One of the best we have had anywhere in the US. The pizza and pesto linguine were really top class. Panne Cotta was totally the icing on the cake. Some of the best we have ever had. I would recommend this place whole heartedly. Juan, the owner really serves with a sense of pride. 5/5 stars. They deserve a lot!!

Toasted focaccia with Herb blend, oil and balsamic, broccoli with toasted garlic and fettuccine alfredo.

Amazing homemade ingredients. Such a hidden gem. We had the focaccia bread, it was toasted with a Herb oil and balsamic with a Herb blend that was an absolute flavor bomb. The best I have ever had. Then we had the broccoli in olive oil with toasted garlic slices, so gooood and finished with the Alfredo, homemade pasta and sauce of course.

Fantastic outdoor cafe with excellent Italian food! Plenty of glutenfree options for pizza and pasta! And adorable setting outside by the white picket fence. Loved that I found this place so early on in my trip

Pesto pasta! It's just okay. Wouldn't go back, I think. Wish they read the comments when you order online as well.

They don't look at instructions on DoorDash, clearly. More options would be nice. The pasta was quite dry as well

It's a cute little restaurant. Baked penne pasta was delicious. But chocolate pot de creme stole the show. The mousse was so so so rich and creamy.

Good food, reasonable pricing, takeout available, low key. Haven't been there since the fires but glad they are open again

The appetizers were fresh and so good as well! We've eaten at multiple fancy restaurants while being here on vacation, and none of the food came close to this! We got to enjoy the beautiful sunset and listen to the waves while eating. Our server was so fun and came out multiple times to check on us and fill our drinks. We have already recommended this place to our in laws who are visiting in November and can't wait to return to try some amazing food!

The service was friendly and welcoming as well. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the setting for us. Several dishes were overly salty, and the value for the portion sizes was disappointing. For example, five small prawns were $45, and the whole fried fish was $99. The calamari starter was also disappointing. It wasn't fresh calamari, but rather fried calamari strips that seemed like the type that come frozen in a bag. The bruschetta wasn't really bruschetta either. It was more like an open-faced sandwich. At these prices, I expected better quality, preparation, and portion sizes. It's definitely a place where you're paying a premium for the oceanfront view and atmosphere. Beautiful location and friendly service, but the food and overall value fell short for us.

I guess everyone has a bad night now and then. Clearly our server was in that mode. Just sort of a dowered look on her face and no warmth or personal touch. The drop in food quality is the real problem. I had the grilled fish sandwich (last two times there) and was bummed at how over cooked it was. The time before I had to send it back because it was like a tennis shoe sole. I even asked that it not be over cooked when I first ordered. Yikes!!! Pizza sauce was very thick and tomato pasty (canned?) At least the crust was good. I'm a big fan of Merriman's, but this branch is not anything like the original Wailea restaurant. Somebody in management needs to wake up and get involved. Customers shouldn't be taken for granted. For now, go to Aloha Grill.

And the best rice with furikake, and then some pretty good macaroni salad? Only here as far as I know? Definitely not where I live in San Diego. The tuna was just as amazing as I remembered. It's easy to walk into the beach bar. And I liked the strawberry salad again, although the strawberries themselves were not that great. The salad is full of fat (nuts, goat cheese, and dressing), but the local lettuce is really good and overall it's a very tasty salad. And you can avoid the fat by getting the dressing on the side and eating around the goat cheese and not eating all the nuts. I was a little disappointed with my 1944 cocktail. It was definitely strong in alcohol content, but the flavor was super muted compared to last time. Decided to order the hula pie because we had a discount card giving us a free one with two entrees, which we had bought anyway. It's a hulking dessert that might be crowd pleasing with a table of kids. It's much too much for one or two people, and not that interesting. I liked the chocolate sauce and the nuts, and that's all I ate. They have this at all of their restaurants, but I wouldn't pay to order it.
