I cannot recommend this business. Booked a 70-minute Father's Day massage the night before as a gift for my dad. The morning of, I called to pay in advance and was told to either pay at the front desk or send payment immediately through Venmo. The owner texted me her Venmo, so I sent $180 using Venmo Purchase Protection. After payment, I was told it was "on hold" and that they hadn't received it, even though the money had already left my bank. I sent proof of the transaction. Shortly after, my appointment was canceled. I was told I would be refunded, but I never received the money. My calls and texts were ignored until I called from another number, at which point I was told to "talk to Venmo" instead. I had to open a dispute through Venmo Purchase Protection and was eventually refunded through Venmo, not the business. This was handled very unprofessionally from start to finish. I recommend reading the other 1-star reviews as well, because they show a pattern in how the owner handles situations and treats customers. ---- UPDATE in response to the owner's reply (Google review): Their response leaves out key context. My concern is not the Venmo processing delay itself, but how the situation was handled afterward. I did not repeatedly request anything. I have proof of that as well. I followed up twice, and requested on Venmo like they had told me to. The issue remains the lack of communication, lack of basic professionalism, failure to issue the promised refund, and how the situation was handled once the payment issue arose. No business should ignore a customer and leave them with no explanation. read more

I love a great excuse for a spa day and I loved my time at Mattina Massage. Arrived on time at 10am for a massage and facial. After providing some details and paying, I was escorted to a simple massage room. The place was clean and the lady at the front was super kind and sweet. Normally, I'm a deep tissue girl, but I opted for the Swedish this time and it was perfect. I had a Groupon for a 70 minute massage which was plenty. It was a cold day, so I added in the hot stones for extra warmth. Once she was all done, it was time for my facial. This was more of a pampering and relaxing facial than it was medical. Normally, I'm used to an esthetician doing extractions with a giant light and other things, but this was different. It was more like an extension of my massage. I took my boyfriend here for a couples massage for his birthday, and unfortunately we left disappointed. The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing, but the massage itself didn't match the experience or the price. I booked a Swedish massage, but the pressure was much rougher than expected. I asked for lighter pressure, and while it would ease up briefly, it quickly returned to being too firm. The massage also felt repetitive, with the same few techniques used repeatedly over my entire body rather than a customized, flowing massage. Another thing that caught us off guard was that the first portion of the massage was done over the sheets while we were lying on our backs. It felt rough and uncomfortable instead of relaxing. I really wanted to love this experience since it was a birthday gift, but for $285, it just wasn't worth the cost. I've visited this place five times, and I've always had a great experience. This most recent visit, however, was extremely disappointing. A friend gifted me a Groupon because they knew how much I enjoyed coming here, but using it resulted in a service experience completely different from when I book directly through the website. Here's what happened: 1. Improper draping & discomfort: The masseuse left both my top and bottom half completely exposed at multiple points, leaving me cold and uncomfortable. In all my previous visits, the masseuse worked one area of the body at a time and kept me appropriately covered. This felt unprofessional and unlike anything I've experienced here before. 2. Uncomfortably rough pressure: The pressure used was excessively rough, almost as if the masseuse didn't want me there or was irritated that I had an appointment. It's like she was just throwing elbows to random parts of the body. It was not relaxing at all, which has never been the case during my past four visits. 3. Unsafe hot stone use (burning + force): The hot stones were practically slapped onto my body. When one was placed on the back of my neck, it hit the base of my skull and was extremely hot. She also burned my back with the stones, and I had to tell her to stop because it was so painful. None of this has ever happened in previous appointments. 4 Unprofessional front desk interaction: After the service, the front desk employee asked, "Are you going to tip?" I was shocked and asked, "You're asking me if I'm going to tip her?" They confirmed, "Yes, are you going to tip?" This was completely inappropriate, especially considering the owner has responded to other reviews saying tips are optional. If they are optional, the front desk should not be pressuring customers. For context, I've always tipped generously, usually $20 for Emma and Molly because they've always been wonderful. P.S. The masseuse was Amanda. I would not recommend booking with her. read more

I literally gained an inch in height from my massage, which was incredible. I raved about it to my friend the following day and she came in two days later and raved about it being the best massage she's had. That was today. We had different people for our service so I assume they just do additional training for anyone that comes in to work here. My only massage experience previously was from a well-known high end place that's literally double the drive and it did not have the same effect as my massage at Mattina. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I also received a facial, which was fantastic. I had Leah for both of my services and she was just amazing. This is a a cozy massage salon in a little strip mall. When we first entered we were greeted warmly and checked in using our telephone number. They also have a rewards program that looks like 5 services get one free. The place is very clean and the whole place puts you at ease. They gave us slippers to enter the massage room area which was actually a nice touch and we just left our shoes in the lobby. My wife and I came here for a 90 minute massage, aromatherapy and hot stones. WOW! The beds and face rest were so comfortable that I would have been just happy to take a nap haha. The ambiance when you walk in the room already puts you at ease and sets you up to relax already. If you want them to massage your soul then the deep tissue is great. My wife got the Swedish massage and also felt like she got some troublesome spots worked out. I think you don't realize how much your body goes through until you start healing in that room. Lisa and Joy were our massage therapists. Lisa was mine and she definitely massaged my bones haha. It was a great experience overall. They put a paper eye mask for when you turn over onto your back and it is heated. I think the prices are definitely worth it and although we cane here on a groupon we will definitely be back again. OVERALL: If you care about your body and soul then this is the place for you and it is definitely worth coming to try full price or on a groupon. I've had issues in the past with "deep tissue" not actually being deep tissue. My boyfriend brought me here for a couples massage and I was happily surprised at how great I felt after. As a reference, I am a weight lifter and store a lot of stress in my upper back, so am constantly struggling with pain and multiple knots in my back and legs to the point where it causes more feelings of stress. We both walked in feeling like little monsters and walked out like princesses. Highly recommend and we will be coming back regularly, especially on thursdays. read more

Maybe the best facial I have ever had!! The massage was so relaxing and she got deep in between my shoulders which I definitly needed. They added so many amenities like complimentary aroma therapy, stacked hot rocks on your back and then used on the body, and hot cold therapy with the facial which I loved! Place was pretty clean. Paid up front before the service, so heads up for that. Until after our massages.. I've never experienced a business give dirty looks for the amount of tip.. Tipped $25 and they expected us to tip more than double which is fine, but I feel like the customers shouldn't be pressured to tip that much. Even when we were waiting for our names to be called, a couple finished & was walking out the door, then the lady at the front ran after them to ask if they tipped.
