The manager (I can't remember his name, sadly) was extremely helpful. After first purchasing a mattress (with the help from a different salesman) that didn't relieve my lower back pain because it was too soft, the manager guided me in the right direction to purchase an extra firm mattress that he said is the firmest that the company offers. I would not have even considered this mattress had it not been for him. Not only was I able to do a trial run with my original mattress for 3 weeks and return it, Mr. Manager saved me about $700 on the less expensive one that I now have and love. read more

Mr. B is a true salesman. He had us thinking we were in good hands and that we made a good purchase. We were very upfront that our purchase was being placed in NY, but we were moving to NJ soon and wanted the delivery to be there. "No problem" he said. Of course, there were problems. First - The NJ delivery guys said that the NY store did not but in the order correctly which caused a major 4 day inconvenience for us, without our bed. The customer service was lacking. There was no offer of making things right, just one state blaming the other. Mr. B also did not fully explain the payment plan options. If I didn't read the fine print, we would have been paying double the cost of the bed in one year. We still have not received the "free" pillows that was supposed to come with our order. Buyer beware. This was truly about them making a sale, not about a great customer experience or service. read more

I'm torn about my experience with Sleepy's. My experience in the store was excellent. I have had the same crappy bed since I moved to New York. $200 from one of those constantly going out of business places. I had no clue what I wanted. Ralph, the sales guy, had me lay on one of the fancy things that tells me how I sleep and where my pressure points are. After, purposely, having me lay on the mattress that was out of my price range so I could see how I needed things to feel, he showed me two equivalents in my range and both were delightful. I ended up getting one on the spot as well as a bed frame. (Well, my parents did. It was an awesome Christmas present.) The delivery was a whole other situation. I was told everything would be in and delivered within the week. A week came and went and I was told another week. At the time, I was having serious back issues, had already gotten rid of my old frame and was sleeping on the floor. When I was finally told it would be delivered, I took the morning off of work. The mattress never came. Nor could I get through to anyone. Apparently, they decided a Monday was the best time to do system wide maintenance and basically shut down the entire company. I learned later that they weren't even doing deliveries they day they scheduled mine for. Why would they schedule me for a day of planned maintenance and no deliveries is beyond my comprehension. It took them another week to delivery my mattress, the frame was still back ordered. I was told that I would either have the frame within a week or 3 months, nothing was consistent. Oddly enough, part of the frame came with the mattress missing the crucial parts needed to put it together. Eventually I got everything within the month. It was one of the must frustrating experiences I've ever had. Between calling the corporate number and being referred to the local store and vice versa, no one knew what was going on. Never mind that the local number only had one line so whenever I tried to call, it was busy with in coming faxes. What kind of company only has one line for calls and faxes? Anyways, now I have my bed. And a few more gray hairs to go along with it. read more

They lie about same day delivery. Tenisha promised (and I asked if she was SURE and she said yes) over the phone that they could deliver today if I ordered by 12.30, so I (literally) ran there and got there before 12:30, and they told me the "trucks have already left" even though I was ready to place the order by their cutoff. Her only excuse was "it usually works." She told me a lie to get me in the door. I will never give these liars another red cent. Here's a tip: don't make promises you can't keep. read more

Sales folks are very pushy and refuse to give you time to think about and research. I ended up placing the order of a Tempurpedic and an adjustable base. The base was the floor model was sold out and they offered me a 50% discount, which brought the price to $900. To make sure I'd have some warranty on it, they sold me the store 10 year warranty for ~$250. After a day I decided to research the items I had purchased and, to my surprise, the base was a 2015 model that could only be found in outlet stores (and waaay cheeper. The Mattress Firm tag price was $1799 and online it was $1199). I decided to then look for the warranty terms and, to my surprise again, it does not cover floor models. I decide to go back to store and cancel the whole purchase as I felt this was very disingenuous . I couldn't cancel it straight away because one of the items was in transit to the warehouse. I got them to give me a written notice and left. Saturday morning I got a call confirming the cancelation and the sales person told me I should see my refund in 3 business days. On the 4th business day I check my card and I see no cancelation so I call the store and they tell me that it's actually 7 to 10 business days to process it!! I'm now waiting on someone to call me back to confirm the cancelation day so I can correctly track the 7 to 10 business days. In the meantime, I'll have to pay my credit card in full because the refund won't be processed in time. read more

Having been thrown out of the store in front of multiple people for laying on the beds with my bags from another store and being told that by business isn't wanted from someone who identified herself as the manager and another employee is more than enough of a sign to never do business at Sleepy's. I have never been treated like that by anyone before and now I can see that your store's reputation is well-earned. This company lies about a lifetime warranty just to get you to buy their product!! Bought a mattress less than a year not knowing I was just getting ripped off. Everything seem perfect for the first two months, afterwards my bed became a slide. When my husband lays on the bed, it becomes a deep slide , mind he's only 160 lb. When he called to try to reason with the company, out of nowhere they voided our warranty. Also when we bought our mattress they told us they would dispose of our old mattress for us but when they arrived they said they couldn't because it was damaged. I dont understand why the condition of my mattress mattered, was it going to be resold?? It is not fair for people to get ripped out of their money like if we didn't work for it. Our money right down the drain. Is not ok to pay $1400 for a shitty mattress that becomes a slide and just causes back pain. Just don't waste your time and money and try sleepy's first. read more

My husband and I had a great experience at Sleepy's. We purchased a Casper mattress a few months ago and had to return it due to back pain. For us, it just didn't work. We were helped by Marty at Sleepy's in Atlantic Center. He listened to our needs and was informative without being pushy. We bought a mattress that has worked very well for us at a great price. My back pain is gone and I'm sleeping like a dream. We scheduled delivery to two days later. Next day was an option but we weren't free. There was a small issue with the delivery (on our end), our staircase was tight and it required a third man. Marty and the delivery team both followed up to ensure our rescheduled delivery went smoothly the following day which was Christmas Eve! We love our new mattress and are very satisfied with the customer service at Sleepy's. read more

UPDATE: So I wrote my review (below) and was ready to move on and look into other companies for a mattress (Casper, etc). Sleepy's decided to reach out to me as you can also see below. Their solution was to offer me a selection of their Mattress Toppers that I can purchase with a corporate discount. These toppers seemed great but averaged about $100-$300 for the ones that looked to be good (only a handful of the 30 had reviews). This would be my first time buying a Mattress Topper so I asked for advice. They couldn't provide any advice and told me the sale would be FINAL. So I was already annoyed that I felt my needs were neglected in purchasing a $3K mattress which can't be returned and their solution was for me to spend MORE money on something that wouldn't guarantee a better sleep and was non-exchangable. Again I was ok with the problem and was ready to move on. Them reaching out to me and go through this back and forth only seemed to have gotten me annoyed with this company. I came in with the notion of just trying out mattresses and had no intentions of purchasing one today. However, that was not the case. They always say to shop around but sometimes when your heart is set on something, you just have to go with it. That's exactly what I did. Marty was very welcoming and was kind of enough to give me the space I needed to make an informed decision. He was very informative and was not annoyed by the amount of questions I had. One thing I can say is that mattresses aren't cheap but you have to look at it as an investment. We spend most of our time on our beds, I know I do. After a really horrible experience at another mattress store, I geared up to endure the endless sales pitch. This was unnecessary though as Wendell understood immediately what kind of consumer I was--self-serve. He explained the layout of the store and then left me and my friend to roam and test beds in peace. No hovering, no selling, no directing to expensive beds. He answered my questions intelligently and did not pressure me in anyway to buy a mattress--if you have ever been mattress-shopping, you know this is a rarity. Update to my bait and switch situation: Someone from sleepy's sent me a boiler plate response to my other review which I followed up on. I got a call back from some kind of conflict resolution center who called me a few times with "updates" but ultimately couldn't help me. I'm not convinced they even tried to do anything besides call me a few times to make it look like they were trying to help. Shame on you sleepy's, shame on you. My only option is to pay off all this interest before more accumulates and ruins my credit. I can't believe you allow your employees to scam people like this. I bought a mattress at a different Sleepy's location right before moving to Brooklyn, only to realize that I didn't like it at all. I went to this Sleepy's location hoping they would help me out with an exchange and they made it SO easy. I've heard horror stories about crazy restocking fees and exchanging nightmares, but I had none of that here. A salesman named Rohan helped me pick out a new mattress and helped me find one that was a good fit for me. Although I didn't go to the mall to buy a new mattress, I came upon a Sleepy's on my way to my destination and I felt the beds calling me into the store. Remembering the back pain and restless nights I'd experienced recently, I decided to go in and test out a few mattresses and price them for a purchase sometime in the future. While wandering around for a few minutes a very nice salesman named Boakye came by and offered his assistance. I told him that I was just looking around. He asked a few questions and before I knew it I was laying down on a bed. I had to admit that it was very comfortable and I really liked it. He had me try out a few other options, but none of them compared to the first one that I tried. Of course it was the most expensive of the options that I considered. I won't say the price, but let's just say it was way out of my budget. I told him that I would keep it in mind and come back once my finances were a little better. He didn't push and was very gracious. We continued to talk and he offered to print out a document with the specifications for the mattress that I liked so that I would have it when I was ready to look for it again. While waiting for the printout we continued to talk about different topics other than mattresses. I complained about my financial situation and expressed to him reasons why i couldn't even think about purchasing the mattress at this time. He was very sympathetic to my situation and did some searching for options that may work for me. After going through a few scenarios Boakye found the same mattress that was a discontinued 2014 line that was essentially on clearance for almost half of the price of the 2015 Line with the same features. He encouraged me to to see if I would qualify for financing at a 0% interest for 12 months. I agreed and was approved. He threw in a mattress cover and two great pillows and worked it out so that everything fit into my budget. My mattress was delivered the next day and I've been sleeping like a baby ever since. I have already recommended Boaky to a friend that is in the market for a new mattress and will continue to recommend him others as well. So I received my mattress, bed, head board and adjustable base, pillows and comforter last weekend. Marty was vey helpful and I was able to pay payments when I can on my purchase. I love the quality of sleepys products so I always do business with sleepys. My original adjustable base could not get upstairs on the elevator or stairs so I had to get a different kind order. Marty made sure that I got something similar to what I wanted so I can have an adjustable base still. I appreciate the great customer service. Will definitely do business with sleepys again. The only thing is they want me to return the rail to get my money back and I feel like they should tell the delivery people to bring it back since it wasn't a mistake on our end. The delivery guy said they would have to tell them to pick it up and he would been able to bring it back to the store. Also, the second day of delivery guy wasn't aware of the set up and thought he was just delivering the base however he still set it up. I will do business with the Atlantic terminal sleepys again but will definitely make sure wherever I live I can actually get the appropriate base by specifying exactly how my building is. read more

I thought of just going into Sleepy's and start laying on the beds I felt were "good enough" with a price tag I felt comfortable with. But when I arrived in the store I was warmly greeted by Anastasia who asked me a few quick questions about how I sleep. I mentioned that I had purchased a mattress only 2 years ago but was already experiencing back problems as a result of it. She became determined to find me a bed that I would not only love, but keep for a very long time. She took me around the store explaining in great detail the difference in each mattress, as well explaining how that will relate to the importance of quality sleep. She was very knowledgable, professional, and comforting in helping me find a mattress that I normally would have been intimidated by. She encouraged me to take my time and rest on each of the beds as long as I needed to form an educated opinion. Finally after much education and her recommendation I found the mattress that has changed my nocturnal life. Normally because of the price tag I would not have even glanced at this mattress. But after talking with Anastasia and her explaining the benefit of investing in a quality bed, I really was able to afford such a wonderful bed with Sleepy's financing option. I also explained how I can't find a quality pillow for how I sleep, and so she showed me the side sleep pillow. AMAZING!!
