My girlfriend and I decided we wanted a larger bed, especially with three small dogs insisting on sleeping with us. We had a Heirloom queen from Jerome's that we absolutely loved that costed an ungodly amount of money six years ago. They're even more costly now, especially the California King. And you better not hate it, because Jerome's doesn't accept returns. We fell in love with Jerome's Bordeaux California King, but the mattress alone costs nearly $5,000.00. We started watching YouTube videos on different mattresses. We enjoyed watching Ken, Gabriel, and Pablo's videos from, "Mattress Makers," San Diego based furniture stores. Was interesting watching them open up mattresses they removed from customer's homes when delivering their new mattresses. We were really sold on their entire manufacturing process. The natural latex foams, and spring designs, and the fact they make them as soon as you order them. With a two week, give or take, delivery date. They can also customize your new bed and install different types of latex foams to make one side firmer and the other side softer. In addition to, "Mattress Makers," many good reviews all over the internet, we decided to give them a shot. We arrived at the San Marcos location just before closing time. Being mindful of whoever was working was probably wanting to lock the doors and go home to their families. I was just planning on getting some quick information, and brochures, etc. We were greeted by a very familiar face. Ken Johnson happens to belong to the same ancient and charitable men's fraternity that I do. As matter of fact, he's a Pillar and well liked and respected member of our brotherhood. Yes, we are Freemasons. Even though he was about to close up shop, my girlfriend and I were heartily and genuinely welcomed in, he loved the doors and spent an hour with us figuring out what our needs and sleeping habits were. He zeroed in on two types of medium firm beds for side sleepers like us. We were ready to purchase, mostly due to, "Mattress Makers," were half the price of our favorite Jerome's Bordeaux mattress, and Mattress Makers guaranteed we'd love it or we could return it for a $289.00 return fee, which Jerome's didn't offer. After a couple of weeks we decided the mattress wasn't for us and we became willing to pay the return fee, and purchase the more expensive one we were already familiar with. Don't get me wrong. Check them out yourself. Mattress Makers have quality offerings and many satisfied customers. We decided to keep, and pay, for the free pillows and sheets we got with the mattress we returned. Quality all around. And the service we received, was on par, from the very beginning to the end when we had to make the uncomfortable choice of asking to return a product to a good friend we purchased it from. No matter where you live in San Diego, Orange, Riverside or even LA County, go in and see Ken Johnson at the San Marcos, "Mattress Makers," showroom. Whether you're buying or returning he'll make you feel good and treat you right. Arlene and I are older, and have hip and shoulder pain exasperated if on the wrong mattress for us. Naive to the ways of the mattress industry, I visited all the large retailers and was met with overinflated prices, cheap materials, and scammy salesmen. In one particular chain store (*cough* Ortho Mattress *cough*) I talked to an associate who told me if I bought a mattress from them right then and there without visiting any other store to compare, he would give me a steep discount. I suffer with reflux which makes sleeping difficult due to the pain. I ordered a Remedy Rizer adjustable bed accessory along with the Remedy II adjustable bed. I am TOTALLY in love with my bed & no longer have any problems with reflux. I can sleep in comfort and/or adjust my bed for reading or just relaxing. They had multiple levels of mattresses that fit different people's budgets and the seem like much better quality that the chain stores. It's been 1 year since we bought our 1st mattress from Mattress Makers. Our showroom experience was warm and welcoming. We were able to try out many mattress styles and Pablo was patient, friendly and helpful and made our kids feel right at home. Thanks to Mattress Makers, I feel like I now go to bed in a 5 star resort every night. My king sized mattress was customized to be firm on my side and soft on my husband's side. It has been three weeks and we still haven't received the mattress we PAID. It was a nice shopping experience and the staff at the store promised the mattresses would be delivered within two weeks. We have been anxiously waiting. I called when the two weeks mark passed and the staff explained they had too many orders... really? Then do not promise two weeks and we would get the mattress from somewhere else! Now it has been three weeks and there is still no phone call for delivery scheduling. For other furnitures, you get charged when the furniture is shipped. This store charge you onsite and keep delaying the shipment. Is this their business model? read more

Simply a great experience. Watched their very helpful YouTube videos on what to look for and do while looking for a mattress. Other major mattress companies do not do this and attempt to rush the sale. Our salesperson had us test a number of mattresses while using open ended questions to determine our sleeping habits and needs. We actually settled on a cheaper hybrid and not due to price, because it worked for us. Kind of like selecting a good wine. Got a very good deal too since it was the July 4th sale weekend. Went with a California King with an adjustable base. They threw in free delivery and two pillows and paid the sales tax. Our delivery came four weeks later. The delivery guys were friendly, knowledgeable, and arrived on time, So far, we are getting some of the best sleep we've had in years. Follow up after the sale also extremely impressive. Updating a 5-Star review from 2019 with another 5-Star review! I bought a mattress from Mattress Makers four years ago, and it's been great - the most comfortable bed I've ever had! A little while ago, the mattress started angling out on one side, which I'd never seen before. I called them about it and sent a few pics so they could see what was happening. They came out, took a look at it, identified the problem with the coils, and said someone would be in touch. I talked with someone within a couple of days, and they said they'd seen this issue two - three other times with their older coil system, and that they'd replace the coil system with their new model coil system for no charge. The delivery team just left after dropping off what is essentially a new mattress. The delivery team was right on time, clean, and nice/professional, and called ahead to let me know they were coming. Just great! Other companies might have tried to avoid the whole thing by saying the mattress was out of warranty or blaming the customer, but these folks stepped up, owned the situation, and made it right really quickly!! And they were cool and friendly the whole way through! Oh, and, I'll say again, the most comfortable bed I've ever had!
