In fact, they are the place in Prescott where you can line dance in style every Friday and Saturday Nigh with loads of like minded folk. They have the largest dance floor in Prescott with plenty of room to accomidate a crowd. If you're part of the uninitiated or have "two left feet" Matt's offers regular Line Dancing Lessons. How 'bout that!? It is important to note that Matt's has a high quality house sound system and a soundman that keeps you from suffering from that harsh and unpleasant sound of the-band-set-themselves-up-in-the-the-corner syndrome that plagues some local's watering holes. The band plays on a professionally lit stage platform that is above the Restrooms, Back Bar, and Pool Table, which offers a great view of the performers from every bar seat, every table, and the dance floor no matter how packed the place is. They also have Karaoke Hosted by Anthony a couple night a week, and that sound system REALLY helps the singers rise above Scaraoke level. By the way, if you had avoided Matt's Karaoke in the past due to the out-of-date and limited song selection, and problematic displays for the song lyrics, well, that's all been taken care of. The numerous big screens, and Anthony's system has that all fixed. Matt's is open all day, and is more of just a regular bar where you gan grab a beverage and tuck away at a corner table, or belly up o the awesome gigantic bar and chat it up with locals and tourists from all sorts of interesting, faraway places like Europe, Australia, or Michican. With all that being said, I am not a fan of Matt's. I don't get friendly service here. I find the bartenders to be slow to notice you, a bit surly or too matter-of-fact, and usually hanging out chatting at one end of the bar with their friends. I also find the weekend security staff overall to be less than welcoming. Sorry, if that sounds harsh to you, Matt's staff, but I've been coming here since the 70's long before I moved here, and that's just the way it's been consistently over the last several years. I'm also not a MODERN Country music fan, even if one of my dogs IS named after Johnny Cash. So Fri/Sat nights are a no go for me unless I'm doing a Whiskey Row crawl. I do enjoy coming to Karaoke here. The restrooms are also substandard in my view, but maybe that's not a problem for other patrons. Matt's is like Whiskey Row Pub to me: a 1 or 2 star on weekend nights, but a 3 star "OK" at other times. read more

One of the Best Bars in Prescott! We went on a Friday night and had a great seat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and kept our drinks flowing. Band was awesome- David Voss - and lots of room to get your country dance on. Love that the band plays above the crowd so you can see them perform. We won't be going back to this place again. First it's cash only, they don't warn you and then point at an ATM that they make money off the fees. Second they serve beer in these stupid little tiny mugs that are beat to hell. Third, the bartender pockets money there. We ordered three fireball shots, asked what we owed, she stood there and went "hmmmm, let me see" as she is looking up, "hmmmm let's see....uh 21 dollars." 21 dollars for three shots? We ordered 4 beers which were served in undersized mugs. How much? "Hmmmm let's see..." "um, well, 24 dollars." 6 bucks each for standard lager? So, let's tally, 21 dollars for 3 shots and 24 dollars for 4 lagers, 45 dollars, cash only. Wasn't hard to see who was pocketing some extra cash, she is!!! And to boot she had a weird attitude. I was told that when going to Whiskey Row you have to go here!! Well that's total BS. Go to the Palace for sure. Much much better!! Go to Jersey Lilly's for sure. My husband and I came into town to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary. We went to almost all places in whiskey row. We happened to walk into Matt's Saloon and meet Dalton. This was the second time we had been there and Dalton was an absolute surprise. He was friendly and personable. He recommended local eats and he was spot on. What a pleasure Dalton was. We came here after our beers @ Raven cafe for some dancing. Man, these country bars are definitely something else! My moves definitely did not compete with all these people with their cowboy/girl boots & hats on lol People were twirlin' and steppin', laughing & dancing. I had a good time just watching all these people have a great time! Again, price of alcohol is just ridiculously cheap here. 2 beers & 1 shot of tequila all for $14.50?! Damn. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Full of RACIST, aggressive bouncers and a majority of the "regulars" and townies were trying to fight us the entire time we were there. When we were leaving the bouncer grabbed my fiancé by the neck and shoved him to the ground all because he accidentally still had his half empty drink in his hand. The male bartender was also extremely rude and aggressive and blatantly racist as well. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I should have immediately called the police and I'm currently looking into suing the bouncer who threw my fiancé on the floor. Stay away from this piece of TRASH. There was a day some time ago this city boy would kick em up at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, I think it's cause of all the hot cowgirls. Well on a Saturday night in my pressed button down polo shirt, this guy walked into Matt's Saloon. I forgot how much fun Country Bars can be. I had to shake out all those 80's new wave dance moves (yeah, that shit still works even at Chars) and bring it down to a leg shuffle. Matt's saloon has a vast crowd ranging from your typical Preskitt Cowboy, Rich Old Guy with Daughter or maybe Girlfriend?, Buzzed up City Boy (me?), Bachelorette party and an occasional recovering addict (Hey, it's Preskitt, I'm not judging). Automatically you'll love this place with the band set up way above the crowd and dance floor, raining down covers from Garth, Paisley and Atkins (That's all the country singers I really know, other than my girl Shania). Drinks are relatively cheap and there wasn't a cover charge when we arrived. Now just know, cowgirls are a bit aggressive so make sure you can turn them down softly or get ridden rough (sorry couldn't help myself). I personally won't go near this place on a weekend night. It's ok during the week. The place is so loud that my voice was almost gone after a couple hours of having to scream to talk to anyone. Other reviews to the drinks, ambiance and general nature of the place are accurate. This is exactly what I picture when I think of a Whiskey Row bar. I like the history, all the old wood, and being born and raised in the West, this is what I grew up with. When it comes down to it, I don't exactly blend with cowboys and bikers - but we don't cross paths, either. Decent bar - though I am not sure how skilled the bartenders are for anything beyond beer, shots and highballs. No matter, really. When on Whiskey Row, drink as the regulars do! :) OTB is definitely a plus, even if The Fantastic Mr. "It's Complicated" didn't win on his wager. Horrible Service, surly bartender, over priced drinks. We stopped into Matt's Saloon for a quick drink. Nothing fancy just a couple shots of Jameson on the rocks. The bartender immediately looked angry that my friend and I had walked through the door. She loudly told a near by customer that she was hungover from the night before and acted like we were completely ruining her night by simply breathing the same air. She served us out shots with a huff and then charged me $15.00 for the two drinks. I didn't dare ask her if she had made a mistake; I didn't want to risk having my face ripped off. I go to all the bars downtown. Not much reason to write a review on most of them. But I am sick and tired of going into Matt's and standing there at the bar waiting and waiting. I'm not talking about because it busy. I'm talking about the bartender leaning at the end of the bar yakking it up with a couple friends and ignoring the bar. This time it was "Karen". Yeah, I'm calling her out by name. Maybe some public embarrassment will shake her lazy tree. She's at the end hanging with her homies. Gab gab gab gab. She looks down the bar and sees me. I just came in. OUR EYES MAKE CONTACT. She looks back at homies, doesn't move a muscle or stand up or anything! Just starts back yakking! WTF?!?! I just stare at her to make sure if she bothers turn glance again the she gets the picture I want a drink. Hell, I have my 20 IN MY HAND and my elbow on the bar. Universal sign around the world! I am ready to order. But she just keeps yakking. After few minutes she walk down no rush. I order politely. She pours my drink and takes my money. Not a word. She hands my change and I throw down a buck right then. She scoops it up and without a word turns and walks back to the end of the bar. She leans on the bar with homies. Gab gab gab gab gab. With Covid, their taps being down, and half of their appeal being off limits, they aren't playing with a full deck by any means. I wound up here by mistake, well it was upon recommendation, but my father had it confused with something else! ‍ found out the awkward way when I told the bartender (Demi?) id been told their food was great. She responds "we've never had food so.." thanks dad! She was nice, I felt for her! The off site horse betting (which is a thing apparently) was the only business they had and those dudes were ehh, interesting. Cash only bar (wtf, again, still a thing?) the bar is just mirrors and bottles so you kinda just awkwardly sit there watching them work if horse betting isn't your bag. I went here with a friend and we had a blast. For a small town this place couldn't have been more fun. I've been to Prescott multiple times but the first time I stepped foot in here and hear the live music and saw the crowds of people dancing, I knew I'd have a great time. Most of the pictures I've seen people post are doing it good justice because the place really is packed full of people dancing whenever I've been there. I have a friend coming into town to visit Arizona and this is definitely a place I would love to show him. read more
