After reading a couple reviews, I decided to try Matt's out. I was really craving a sub and haven't been able to find a good place here in town. Decided to go through DoorDash and pick up since the prices were about the same as in-store. Here's what I ordered: -Turkey and Cheese Sub (small): $8.50 for this small sub but the size was larger than a small. I added tomato, onion, lettuce & sweet peppers. I appreciated how the meat was on the top and not smothered by the other toppings. Pretty decent sub. -Matt's Steak (Philly Style, small): yuck. Everything about this sub was nasty. Took 1 bite and all I tasted was SALT. I had high hopes because it smelled and looked sooo good! It was wayyy too salty and the flavor of the steak was not good at all. I couldn't enjoy or taste any of the toppings I added (sweet peppers & fried onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard) because the salt overpowered. Didn't finish this sub, as it was too nasty. Waste of $9. -Onion Rings: not worth $5.50. I literally counted 8 onion rings, most of which were very small. Wish they were homemade but they definitely tasted frozen. Would not order again. I probably won't order from here again. 2 stars only because the service was quick, food was still hot when I picked up and the young lady at the counter when I picked up was very kind. Saw this place on DoorDash and figured I'd give them I try. This order was placed a few months ago during the height of the COVID lockdown. Restaurants had just re-opened, and I don't think you could even do pickup, just delivery. Prices were about 15% more expensive through DoorDash (as is the norm), but it was the only way order at the time. Sandwiches were dropped off on my doorstep and were looking good. The hot ones were hot, the cold one was cold. Went to town and ordered a total of three large subs since I have no self control. Got the whole gambit - an Italian, California cheesesteak, and the classic Philly cheesesteak (onions + whiz). I don't think I could ever order a Cali cheesesteak in Philly. That's some sort of sacrilege. But I legit love lettuce, tomato, and onion on every sandwich ever. It just goes so well. The Italian pretty standard. Good amount of meat. Maybe a bit heavy on the ham. Nice amount of olive oil & red wine vinegar. That sharpness of the vinegar is so key. The Philly cheesesteak was bomb. Kinda had this weird processed look to it. Almost like it was covered in a shiny film of fake cheese. I mean, shoot, I guess that's literally what it was. I'm looking at the picture now. It's so bizarre looking. No natural cheese should be that color. But that's whiz, baby. That's cheddar gloop. And it's oh so good. After this pandemic is over, whenever that is, I am going to make it a point to make it down to Matt's Steaks for a pickup order. I want to see those dudes in person and thank them. Never been to Matt's Steaks in W. Wyomissing 19609 however, while driving by at lunchtime I stopped and ordered two Italian Sandwiches.When I arrived home I quickly found the rolls were on the verge of being stale, and hardly any meats, or cheese inside, just full of lettuce. Good cheap food. Great place to stop for lunch when you only get a few minutes. Food is hot and comes out fast.

We've been to Matt's about a dozen times in the past 5 years. Food was always solid with reasonable prices. Alas, prices have slowly gone up with quality slowly going down. We used to go on Saturdays for the burger specials, which were fantastic. Unfortunately, as prices have gone up, so has the grease-level of the food and the place. It needs a cleaning and a remodel imo. Owner was always friendly. Service was decent. I'd love to go back as we used to enjoy the cheap food but not seeing any reason to do so with so many other sandwich shops in town. read more

matts has great specials. I always order ahead of time. Not a last meal place but the prices make up for it.
