Make sure he checks with you before he starts the work. He did not match the color of the faux leather before he did the work and he picked a wrong tone. He also took the liberty to swap out another panel! So now I have 3 panels that don't match the rest of the interior. I've had another car upholsterer fix the faux leather before and they matched the color perfectly, so he might not have all the materials he needed to do the job right. When I pointed out the mistake, he was rude and told me to leave without paying him if I didn't like the work before he retreated to his office. I wish he would've offered to fix his mistake. The stitching was great, just the color was wrong. So, if you wanna save some money definitely go here, but MAKE SURE he confirms the color and panels with you before he starts the work. read more

These guys had me in and out in less than half a day to get the seam taken care of in my driver seat. By request they added a piece of foam to also get rid of the butt dents. This seat had 256,000 miles in it. Looking great now! Would highly recommend this shop. read more

I had a 6 inch tear on my Mazda's passenger seat. I brought it in for Julio to give me an estimate. I was so unhappy with my car. It had these ratty, torn up, foam-spilling front seats :( I was planning on selling it - it just seemed tired and old... then I thought I should look into having them reupholstered I got a reference to Julio Matus (not Julio's in HLP) from another shop I had checked out. Matus fixed my tired, saggy headliner for what was likely the most reasonable price around. For the price, the job is quite good. More on the details of the job in a moment. It'll cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $190-$290 depending on how complicated your car is. If you have a sunroof or speakers on the headliner, it will probably be on the high side. Pro tip: If you're somewhat mechanically inclined, you can cut the cost in half if you remove your own headliner and bring it to him to repair. Of course you're going to have to reinstall it too so make sure it's worth your time and aggravation. It'll take him a few hours on a good day, so the prospect of same day pick-up is pretty good. The fabric was a 97% match. No complaints there, since my sun visors were probably faded. My only complaint is a slight wrinkle on the rear part of the liner by the tailgate. I have speaker holes in the area so it's got a complicated angle. It's only noticeable if you lift the tailgate and look very closely so it doesn't bother me too much. I didn't notice it until I started reinstalling the headliner and it doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it as this is my daily beater. If it was my weekend car I'd probably point it out. Matus is pretty courteous and attentive, so that's a plus and I bet if I mentioned it to him he'd take care of it. Bonus pro tip: The neighborhood is sketch so don't hang out after dark rockin' your Run DMC gold rope chain. read more

My mom's car was in serious need of some work on the headliner. She lives in Altadena and I was home for a few weeks. I needed someone to get this taken care of and a lot of the places in Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, all were like "oh you have to come back in a few days, leave the car here and it will cost you (insert extortionate price here)." I finally came across this place and called them around 8 am. I spoke with Matus himself and he said he could do it for me, the same day. All in all, it cost a bit more than a few places, but also a LOT less. One place told me it would cost about 500 USD to replace the fabric. I would say this place here is good, and I'm satisfied with the work he did. And for the price I paid, for a foreign car (Volvos are weird when it comes to changing headliners) and for it all in one day, I couldn't be more impressed. Thank you so much Matus. Let me start by saying that these guys are awesome. Called the shop to get an estimate on a convertible top replacement and within minutes I was quoted a price that was not only fair but way better than other shops I contacted. I took my car in on Friday afternoon at the beginning of a holiday weekend. I was contacted on Tuesday afternoon telling me that my car was ready. I picked the car up Wednesday afternoon and was on my way. Had I brought it in earlier that week they would've had the work done in a day.
