There was no way I could pay with my Maui Divers card but they said they would call me for the card info. RED FLAG!!! So they called and I gave them the card info. Then I got an email saying the earrings were sold out 2 days after. I called to changed to a different pair. A couple of days later I got an email saying my order was shipped. Yay!!! A week later the earrings came but no ring and no necklace. I called and they said they didn't see their own note to mail all items together but they were shipping my other items that day. A week later and still nothing. I've called them so many times. They took messages but never called me back. I kept calling and every 3rd call, I got "oh we're shipping them today" and then no shipment. They've told me that they were shipping my items about 5 times now and still nothing. It's been over 2 weeks and they still haven't shipped. We didn't come for the tour since we did it 2 years ago. We wanted to go directly to the sales floor. I brought my living heirloom ring for them to inspect. I felt like a piece/diamond was missing. It just didn't look uniform and I just got it last summer rarely wearing it. I never wear it for long maybe a few hours. I also wanted to color match pearl earrings for my lavender heirloom pendant. They've been so helpful in the past with color matching other pearls to the earring style of my choice. This was the first time for me bring something in for service . Cindy was extremely helpful with everything. My ring got fixed for free replacing the missing diamond piece. They were able to color match pearls taking them from another setting and putting them in my desired setting. Cindy was kind to offer us drinks while we waited for my items to be fixed/made. I found the tricolor plumeria bracelet that I was searching for. They gave me 20% off since it cost over $2000. I needed two plumeria's taken off. They covered to two plumeria extra plumeria's into a pendant for $30 dollars; bale plus labor. Sweet! 20% off was the magic word so I looked for anything else that was a must have. For my daughter who was patiently waiting, they gave her a box of chocolate covered Mac nuts and a sterling silver plumeria necklace. Very nice. This place has a big selection on the 2nd floor. It is quality jewelry that has a deep and meaningful story behind each piece to couples that come in and make a memorable piece that can last generations in their family. My aunt and uncle worked hard, raised kids, and finally got to go on their dream trip to Hawaii and as part got a beautiful piece of jewelry that when they got back home- showed the piece and had a story for the whole extended family. That may have been more valuable than the gold and parts in the piece- family story. Workers there are wonderful. They care and want to make people happy. So I was in this tour of the Maui Divers Jewelry while we were on our vacation in Hawaii and next thing I know I was paying a little over $600 for a Pearl ring for my wife. Huh!!! Let me back up a little bit (Rewind). So the day started off as my wife tells me we got a free breakfast and they are picking us up in an hour. I'm sure she said more than that but all I heard was "free breakfast". One hour past. I'm in a bus full of people and I'm thinking this is going to be a big breakfast because there were lots of people here. Soon as we arrived it was one of those Vacation Timeshare presentations with a free breakfast and after you eat you're free to go but before they take you back to your hotel there was this tour you have to take, hence the Maui Diver Jewelry tour. It was cool, they show you how they make coral jewelry and all, but my favorite was the Guava Mimosa they serve while you look at the jewelry. So after reading Kasey F's review maybe that did lower my "spending inhibitions", because next thing I know I was buying my wife a Pearl ring and my daughter a Coral necklace. MAN I'VE BEEN HAD! Was my wife in on it?! In all honesty I don't really care if my wife was in on it or not (I'm sure not), I would have bought her a diamond ring if she asked me to. The tour of the Maui Divers Jewelry design center is very interesting, but probably only if you're a lady who likes jewelry..which I am. :) The tour itself consists of a guy talking for about 5 minutes, a 15 minute video, then a tour (with a guide) of all the rooms with windows so you can actually see the employees making jewelry. After that you're shown out to the jewelry showroom where they offer complimentary champagne (to lower your spending inhibitions, I'm sure) and juice. A salesperson immediately greets you and follows you around the room, where there are beautiful displays of all the jewels made from coral, other gemstones, and pearls. It's all very expensive, with the cheapest piece being about $175..and they have jewelry there as much as 6k. HERE'S THE SECRET: While you're getting suckered into buying an expensive piece of unique jewelry (with a lifetime warranty!) what they don't tell you is that if you just walk downstairs you'll find another showroom (which they call the 'gift shop') that has MORE beautiful jewelry, except the pieces are about $20-40 each! So instead of spending an hour on the top floor like I did, just grab a glass of champagne and glance around for a couple of minutes..then go purchase something downstairs! read more

Unfortunately back in New Zealand my hand got caught while searching for something and I yanked my hand and the flower on top came off. This was my fault and I couldn't find the flower to get it placed back on the ring. Luckily I was going back to Hawaii for a holiday and took it to their Ala Moana store and was told to go to the design centre. I went to the design centre and they gave me a brand new ring and a box of chocolates as we waited. They even gave us a lift back to our hotel. They were wonderful!! I ordered a lavender pearl pendent and got a pink one. I have exchange multiple emails and a phone call with their customer service and what it comes down to is when you complete you purchase online, there is a small light link at the bottom of the page in a color that is not readily visible and is in small writing about terms and conditions. When you click on this, it basically says designs and colors can vary at their whim from what is list online. It is a terribly long list on conditions, like when you rent a car. I found the exception about color variations about 5 items down. They offered to exchange pearls but, I purchased it in good faith for my wife for our anniversary and an exchange would not arrive in time. Plus, I bought another pearl from someone else where it says the pearl you see in the picture is the one you get. Needless to say, i am VERY disappointed. If they can change designs or colors from what they show online, they should put an asterisk by the picture/item description telling you that you may not get the color or design in the picture. You should NOT have to try to find the "small print" at the bottom of the page when you go to make the purchase and then, scroll down several items to find all the exceptions that allows them to keep control of the purchase and NOT to satisfy the customer. I have made MANY purchases online from MANY different companies and NEVER had an experience like this !!!! Yes, they've covered themselves legally with all this but, WHERE is the heart of customer satisfaction and WHY do they have to hide it . JUST put it up front when you list and item and give it's description. To me it feels VERY deceptive. read more

They do not honor their return policy! I made a purchase in December 2018, and returned part of the purchase, but never received the refund. According to their store policy, return can be made with a receipt within 30 days of the date of purchase. I reached out to the company multiple times to get the return address information. After I mailed back the necklace I purchased, it took another week for customer service to confirm that they received my return, even though my tracking number stated it had already arrived. Then I was promised a refund which should take 7-10 business days, but it has been over one month, and I have yet to receive a refund! This is completely unacceptable! read more

The sales clerk said she had to check with their manager, who denied my request because they have a 30 day return policy. I told her my birthday was not too long ago and it didn't say that on the gift receipt. I was not aware that the person who bought the gift purchased it over 30 days ago. We did the luau at paradise cove. As part of the deal they offer a free piece of jewelry from Maui Divers. The first Maui Divers we went to told us that we could only claim it from the design center. The employee at that Maui Divers gave us a coupon and told us that if we went for a tour we could get a free box of chocolates. When we went to the design center they told us we had to take a tour in order to claim the necklace. We explained that we had been told that the tour was only required if we wanted the chocolate and that the website didn't say anything about having to take the tour in order to claim the necklace. We did end up doing the tour which was pretty brief but interesting. We went on a Sunday so they weren't really up and running but I imagine it would be cool to see when everyone is there working. Once we finished our tour one of the workers cane up to us and said, "where's your sticker?!" She was very rude about it...when we explained that we didn't know what she was talking about she said "everyone gets a sticker they have to wear! Where's your sticker? Everyone gets one!" We explained that we did not get a sticker and were not aware of one. It was rather strange because she ended up walking away and dropped it so I'm not really sure what the big deal was. The sales women were all very pushy. The jewelry was beautiful but very expensive! We did not purchase anything but did get the free necklace which was valued at $95. It seemed rather cheap but it was free so I didn't really care! I gave them three stars due to the quality and design of there jewelry as well as the fact that they do free tours. However the staff were not super friendly, the jewelry was overpriced and they were unclear about the fact that we would be required to do the tour just to claim the necklace. read more

I feel sad to share the experience I had here today. It's been a few years since I visited the showroom on Liona Street. But their life time guarantee brought me in today when I noticed one of the small diamonds in an earring had fallen out. That guarantee is a big deal since even Tiffany and Cartier charge to replace diamonds that have fallen out! After parking, a burly "greeter?" approached my car to ask why I was there....hmmmm, ok this is a jewelry store right? I was given a sticker to put on myself and escorted by another burly greeter upstairs. There were no customers at all in the third floor showroom, so I looked around and gave my earring to a sales person. Someone else ( maybe customer service) came out later to tell me they couldn't find a record of my purchase. None of my purchases ever in fact. So I asked them to keep the item until I could chat with my regular sales person who hadn't arrived for the day yet. I rarely feel unwanted in a shopping situation but I felt this way today. Two groups stepped off tour buses and it became very obvious to me who the shop catered to....the inventory here has also drastically changed. They used to have a great selection of stones and pearl jewelry and non-Hawaiian items. (I'm local! I'm not interested in plumeria jewelry or coral!) I can see why they aren't doing as well as they used to...I ended up calling my sales person later and explaining what happened. So my girlfriend and I were waiting at the airport and stopped by the Maui Divers jewelry stand. My girlfriend reached into a bowl filled with coupons and we got a 50% discount to pick an oyster from a bowl and keep the pearl inside the oyster. Low and behold we picked a black pearl. The sales woman immediately said that the black pearl was the most rare (only 1% of people are lucky enough to get a black pearl). After the 50% coupon, the price for the pearl was about $8. So we decided to get a setting for the pearl, which was nice and cute (it was a silver hibiscus flower and the pearl was placed in the middle). The total was $65 out the door...not too bad. The reason I gave such a low rating is because after we picked the setting the sales woman said that since it was our anniversary we get to pick another oyster. She brought out a different bowl filled with oysters. My girlfriend picked one oyster that had two black pearls.......obviously to try to get us to buy a set of matching earrings. The sales woman said this was super rare blah blah blah. This took away my thrill of getting a unique experience. I realized that black pearls are not rare and the store must know exactly which oysters have certain colors and if they have more than one pearl inside. This company is NOT a scam. Personally, I think this would be a great thing to do for a young daughter or someone who is easily amused, to give her the thrill of finding a pearl and putting the memory in a setting. read more

As far as tourist traps go, this is comparable to most other factories on tours I've been to. The place is run down but sells high quality stuff. Super expensive but the staff is eager to earn your trust and sell you something. We were forced to come here based on a tour I purchased with Discover Hawaii Tours through Groupon. If you have one of these Groupons, be prepared for whats to come!!! We were first brought to a "theater" which showed us a 7 minute clip of Maui Divers and how they get their pearls and coral. It was interesting. Then we were brought into the showroom. It was super expensive!!!!! We breezed right through it and headed straight to the free shuttle to take us back to Waikiki. The salespeople hounded us as we walked through the showroom. We were told, "take the elevator downstairs to the shuttle". But, the trickery of it was that there was another showroom downstairs that you have to walk through before you can get to the shuttle!!!! More salespeople hounding us..... Finally when we got to the shuttle waiting area, we were told that we had to wait for the shuttle. Another 15-20 wait........Then we got a shuttle driver that would not stop talking....... I have been to many of the other sights offered by this company. They were a bit pushy but not to bad. The experiences were over all enjoyable. But going to the design center for the tour was supposed to be fun, and in the beginning it was. After the tour through the show room (where the sales lady was nice and only a bit pushy) we went down stairs where they have the pearls and the more reasonable prices stuff for the average person. I went with My Mother and Aunt and we were interested in getting more pearls for the Pearl cage necklaces we all already owned. We all picked out our Oysters and we all ended up with twins after my Mom Got a second Oyster. The sales ladies both started doing their sales thing and got busy trying to get us to buy Jewelry. The Lady helping Me started to walk away with my pearls to drill them and I told her NO! While the lady Helping my Mom And Aunt was finishing up drilling theirs. She had not even told them what she was doing. They thought she was polishing them. We had went there for peals to put in cages so she ruined the great pearls they had gotten, and the sales ladies made Us feel like Idiots for not wanting them drilled. My Mom and Aunt both ended up paying for a product they did not want. ( I thought we should have walked out right there but they were more polite then the sale ladies and paid for the product that the Ladies had Ruined) The sales ladies kept telling us it was better because if you have them drilled later they can shatter, The point was we never wanted them drilled they were for cages. They then told us it was no big deal because the hole would not be viable in the cage. This is wrong it is very viable. We all left there feeling very wronged and did not feel that the Ladies cared at all about our feelings just making the Sale!!! ONLINE BUYERS BEWARE !! I made the mistake of purchasing sale items online and then believed the salesperson when I picked up the items when she said that they could exchange for a bigger size pearl. The color of the pearls and the luster were great. I LOVE the earrings BUT the pendant was WAY TOO SMALL. When I called and spoke to Leimana she seemed to be helpful and care, at first. Going so far as to call down to the warehouse and stating that they would be sending her the remaining stock and that it would take a day to receive. She would take a look at what was available and call me back. Now I think it was all FAKE and PRETEND. Cuz its been 3 weeks and still NO return phone call. I called the customer service line 2 times yesterday and now Corinne answers and took my name and # for Leimana to call me back. She even stated that she gave my messages to Leimana and that Leimana is not avoiding me. ummmm..... seriously? more like completely dodging me. Corinne goes on to say that Leimana was in a car accident ("totalled her car") over the weekend and is now busy taking care of that. I went to Maui Divers Jewelry located at the Dole Cannery Plantation in North Shore. This was my first visit and I have been on the island for about 3 years now so I figure I would go there with some friends. Any who when I was leaving, a lady asked me to pick a coupon out of the basket. I figure hell its free and if I don't like it , I'll leave. Picked one out saying 50% off the pearl I select, so 15.00 dollars down to 7.50 isn't bad. Picked one out, tap..tap..tap..aloha! and I got a black pearl. The lady asked whether or not I want a ring, necklace or something to go along with it. I said why not lets see what you have. She pulled out a 300 dollar necklace, and I said nuh uhhh! So she got another necklace, and it was 80.00 for it. I agreed, so she put it all together for me. Right when I was about to pay, the lady said I'll give you another pearl for free. Pulled out an oyster from under the desk, did the tap..tap..tap..aloha! and ended up having two black pearls. I already had what I wanted, so I just told her just keep them as they are. She was understanding and nice. Ended up paying 89.00 for everything. Reasonable price for a 3 black pearls and a necklace I would say. read more

The premise is appealing: Come see a jewelry making operation. At a place with an exotic name, Maui Divers. Sure! Sounds neat!! Big mistake: Turned out to be a tourist trap. First you go up the elevator to the 3rd floor to see where they make everything. That part is ok. Then you discover the elevator down stops at the 2nd floor, and you are basically forced to get off and go into the sales area. Where they are as high pressure as you can get, especially since they've basically trapped you. This was s baby, bad, bad experience. read more

Well, we have a long history together. Wife bought me a ring back in mid 90's and I've been using it as my wedding ring since 2000. First few years, it was the the talk of the town. Because it was unique. Small diamond, 2 small bands of black coral. Unfortunately, over the last 10 years, the coral keeps falling off and I've taken it back to be repaired at least a dozen times. The repair can last for up to 6 months or as short as 1 week before it falls out again. Time needed for repair can take from 1 day to a few months. Maui Divers has nice jewelry and one good thing I have to admit is that I made a lot of friends at the store. The store's owner called me recently to apologize and explain that the ring, because of the natural coral imbedded in it isn't meant to be worn every day with an active lifestyle, but on special occasions. Great customer service, and honesty. It's no wonder the company has been around so long. I'll be by to pick up my ring! read more

I must say that I was pleasently surprised to see so many authentic Hawaiians working at Maui Divers Liona St. location. Maybe they need more Hawaiians at their Alamoana store. I would have given Maui Divers their much deserved 5-stars had I not had such an awful experience at their Alamoana location which clearly caters to everyone but locals. Thankfully that bad experience was made better by visiting the Liona St. location where we purchased some exceptionally beautiful pieces. One of the items I had seen at the Alamoana location was not available at the showroom but that did not stop the Liona St. staff from going above and beyond and having the piece made right on the spot.
