My sister asked me to pick up 2 sets of masks and snorkels for adults and 2 for kids. Purchased the ones recommended by the staff after they answered my questions about them. Very happy with the ones they suggested. Back at the hotel I looked up the prices on our favorite mail order site just to see if we were price gouged. The adult sets were the exact same price online, and the kids sets were $10 more per set online! My two teenage sons wanted to get certified while we were on Maui, and I couldn't have asked for a better place for them to do it. I've been a diver for 23 years, and I've never had a better experience than with Maui Diving. Even after the awful tragedy that hit Lahaina, it was really heartening to see that they are still operating there. Annual Maui trip and wanted to dive Lanai. Booking was easy, waivers are all electronic. Boat Captain Lev and his crew Dave, Michelle, Brandon and Kelly were awesome. They load your gear, set you up, jump you in hot shower you and snack you. Safety briefing is brief and effective they don't waste words. Fun loving people that showed all a great day with many smiles and beautiful scenery. I will book again. Oh and Lev spotted a dolphin pod and we let them boat surf with us for a while. Tl;dr super professional, fairly priced, awesome dive sites I came here to get open water certified and had an absolute blast learning on the water. The certification takes place over two days with 4 open water dives. My instructor was Jillian and she was excellent. She was super fun and made me feel at ease in and under the water. She made sure to prep us on the skills we would be covering before entering the water and made sure we understood the hand signals she would use to communicate with us when we were under. We all learned a lot and made sure we had a good time when doing it. I ended up loving the dive shop so much I signed up for another dive, the Mala Pier Plus which included mala pier and black rock. Those dives were led by Simon who was super chill and made sure we all had a good time even though our group was made up of experienced and freshly certified divers like myself. He prepped and cleaned all our gear before and after the dive and did an awesome job of making sure we had a fun dive and saw as much wildlife as possible. I also love that this shop takes ocean sustainability seriously and is even recognized by PADI for selling products like sunscreen and water bottles and reduce harm to the ocean. 100/10 will be coming here again for more dives and hopefully more certifications. read more

The diving in Maui is amazing and one of the reasons why we came to Maui for our vacation. There are a lot of options to scuba right from the beach and many options for dive outfits to go out with. That being said, the folks at Maui Diving Scuba Center have the local knowledge to keep their clients safe and also educate and inform and I am glad we choose them. I signed up for the 5 star 5 dive package and ended up booking one additional Mala dive with them because the diving there is so good. In all, I spent 5 days diving with them and a total of 9 dives. They were well organized and prepared to get us rolling promptly which meant most days we were out of the water and back to the shop around 1 PM which left lots of family time for the afternoon. Additionally, they offered a Turtle conservation class which I attended, and thought it made me a better more responsible diver when swimming with turtles. I just want to personally thank the divemasters I had the chance to go diving with (please pardon any misspelling on the names). Big shout out to Yancy, Johnny, Sarah, and Dave for taking great care of me and the rest of the divers while we were out with you. Johnny offered a photo package from our Mala dive that was really an unexpected bonus. Last but not least is Jillian in the office. She really went above and beyond helping to coordinate all of my dives. She was patient and understanding when I screwed up and booked a night dive on my wife's birthday. Having someone that is solution-focused and customer-centric is vital for a tourism company. Jillian also helped me find a new dive mask. I have struggled to find a mask that doesn't leak because of my beard and is also comfortable. It was so much more fun diving without having to keep clearing my mask. Great dive shop and instructors. Junior made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and ready to go for each dive. We purchased a 6 dive package and didn't regret it. Every dive had something new and interesting things to see. The most memorable ones were the Mala Pier, night dive and the 5 caves. After seeing so many turtles at Mala Pier we also decided to come back ourselves to go snorkeling a few days later. The workers at the shop were very accommodating as well. My regulator had an issue, so I was able to rent one for a couple of days while they fixed it. read more

This is such a great dive shop! They have probably one of the best varieties of equipment i've seen so far. We actually stumbled into the shop a few months ago looking for some new fins, we bumped into Tyler who really took his time to share his knowledge and recommendations with us. At this point we have never really had wanted to pursue a hobby in diving. Fast forward to present time, we are back again, and loved our first dive with Instructor Steven! Everyone at the shop has such awesome personalities, its very inviting and makes everything an all around amazing experience. When youre going into the ocean, nothing is a guarantee, the conditions can change within hours or minutes. I really appreciate the fact that here at Maui Diving, they keep a close eye on the conditions, and feedback on dive sites, and try to recommend the best sites possible for your dives. I went on both a twilight and a night dive and both were amazing. We dove Mala pier for the twilight dive and it great to swim around the wreckage of the old pier. We saw turtles and white tips, but the highlight of the trip for me was when Steven pointed out my first frogfish! There were two of them sitting together and then just a few minutes later another diver spotted three sitting together. For the night dove black rock and it was easily one of the best dives I've ever been on. Top three for sure. If you like eels this is the dive for you. There were eels everywhere and they were all looking for food. I saw one just miss chowing down on a crab. We also saw turtles, an octopus, and a squid that changed colors and didn't appreciate the lights. The only thing I would recommend to people is to rent stronger lights if possible. I had my two 800 lumen lights and they were perfect, but most of the divers lights were 400. My lights really lit up the area. I went on a boat dive to Lanai at one of the cathedrals as well as another site and neither were even close to as good as my previous two shore dives. If I ever make it back to Maui I'd dive with Maui Diving for sure. read more

Another fantastic dive with Maui Diving. I was debating between Five Caves and the Mala Ramp. After a suggestion from the shop, we dove Mala and I'm SO glad we did! Visibility was incredible. We saw flounder, lobster, so many green sea turtles, eels, cleaner shrimp, two resting white tip reef sharks, a frog fish and an octopus (even if he didn't want to come out to play). I had Steven as a guide and lucked out that it was just the two of us! (I've gone diving with so many groups, which really limits your time underwater. I don't use much oxygen so we were able to stay under for 95 minutes. My only suggestion - I wish the wetsuits were a little newer. I tried on two and both were a bit ragged. The one the fit had no zipper pull which makes putting on your own suit impossible! read more

We LOVED our experience with Maui Diving. My friend and I chose to do the Twilight and Night Dive, both dives of which rank among our most memorable experiences in Maui. First off, our guide Nico couldn't be more accommodating, from getting our gear to readying up to doing the dive itself (I hope your toe is better man). Additionally, the actual dives were magnificent, each about 40-45 minutes total. You do the same path for the twilight and night dive along Black Rock, but Nico was quick to point out sights underwater including cool wildlife, upcoming currents, and sights all around. We saw plenty of wildlife - keeping our distance of course - including fish, turtles, eels, lobsters, and many more! Above all, we got to see sunset from the water and, for our first night dive, got to navigate the waters while feeling safe all the way. Overall, very friendly and professional scuba service and a memorable scuba experience! I would highly recommend this location, particularly the Twilight and Night Dive, for a Maui trip to remember. :) PROS: - fairly priced for the experience ($179 for the twilight and night dive) - good bang for the buck; each dive was about 40-45 minutes - great and professional service and guides; you're awesome Nico! - memorable dives; lots of wildlife to be seen, gorgeous sunset, and a rather moderate challenge CONS: - none! :) read more

Loved our experience diving with Maui Diving! Ethan and Bruce guided us and set up all our equipment. Our first dive at Blackrock was gorgeous - tons of fish, fun caves and easy waters. Walking to the site with all our gear wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and once we were in the water we were fine and comfortable. The second dive blew my mind. Best dive I have been on for all the fish and coral and amazing ruins of Mala Pier. Saw turtles galore, many types of fish and three white tipped sharks resting under the pier. It was apocalyptic and heavenly at the same time. Felt well cared for and their facility is top notch. Highly recommend and will use them again. Thanks so much for the wonderful day! read more

My wife and I decided to upgrade the dry snorkels we has been using for over 20 years and I wanted a more comfortable set of fins that did not require boots and were not as heavy to carry. I bought a set of Scubapro Go fins Travel and a Scubopro Spectra Dry Snorkel based on the recommendations of the helpful sales person. Both turned out to be excellent picks. The real surprise was that when I got home, I found the same items on Amazon and Diver's Direct for exactly the same price. I had expected to pay much more in Hawaii but instead got a break because the sales tax in Hawaii is much lower than in WA. read more

We loved our recent two-dive trip with Maui Divers. Kevin was an awesome guide. We came in to town on a cruise ship. Maui picked us up with gear in hand at the port and we went straight to a dive. Two of my family were newly certified divers and Kevin made them very comfortable. After our dives, we returned to the shop where there is a place to rinse gear and re-pack. A nice touch to allow clients to rinse stuff off. I highly recommend the Mala pier dive that Maui Diving runs. I never thought that a collapsed pier could be such a great dive site but it really was. We LOVED this shop! They are an extremely helpful, professional and fun crew. Our positive experience started with Derek over the phone who helped us book some last minute (and by that I mean diving the next 3 days) shore dives, a last minute ADVANCED certification course by my boyfriend, and a last minute boat charter out to Lanai. Derek's sense of humor is awesome and his goofy kind-heartedness was most obvious when he offered us his homemade ceviche with fish he caught himself. Anyone who is that generous with avocado in his ceviche needs no further proof of their merit. I went on the Mala Pier dive which Derek promised me would be amazing -- it 100% was! Easily 25+ turtles. There is a turtle cleaning station where turtles float on top of a piece of sunken pier and cleaner wrasse and other fish give them a spa treatment. Amazing dive with frog fish and octopi to boot. Nico was our friendly divemaster on that one. Great place to snorkel as well We did the night dive on Black Rock, led by the amazingly chill Swede, Simon, who showed us all sorts of cool things in the night - squid, eels, even white tipped reef sharks. There was an anxious diver in our group that night and they linked arms the entire way and she was thrilled by the experience at the end of it. Their dive shop is clean, well-conditioned, has various classrooms for learning, couches to hang out on, a huge array of gear, shirts, mementos and lots of expert staff to help. We'll be coming back for sure the next time we're in Maui. Thanks for the great times! PS - Ono Tacos food truck is just outside and has pretty good fare. I have done eight dives with these guys so far because of how incredibly impressed I am with this great shop that John and Bia run. every time I've shopped around, they've beat their competitors prices by a lot (especially on certification and specializations). Their divers and connections are amazing. They've gotten me up-close to everything from white-tip reef sharks to huge sea turtles, octopuses and squid to several varieties of eels. And their dive to Mala Pier (sunken) is by far my favorite on Maui. If you are looking to get certified, you'll be doing all your learning on a quiet little stretch of sand 20 feet under the water, not in some chlorinated pool. My girlfriend had a blast getting certified through them, and enjoyed a much better experience than she would have in some chlorinated pool (which is great for me since now I have an enthusiastic dive buddy on all our vacations) What's more, they give fantastic deals on ANY scuba and snorkel gear if you've taken a class through them. And unlike some other places, you can park in front of the place all day while you are on your dives, free of charge. Honestly, I wouldn't go anywhere else on Maui. read more

I learned about this dive shop from the Facebook group "Girls That Scuba". Bought a couple of years ago by a female diver with a dream, Maui Diving Scuba Center has become the biggest on Island! I loved my experience with them diving at Black Rock and Mala Pier. If you're a diver, skip Molokini and do these dives. Mala was one of the best dive experiences of my life and I've been some pretty amazing places. Usually diving in Hawaii for me is more about keeping up my skills and getting in the water than having high expectations. I figure we'll see a couple of turtles and a few fish but the reef is usually kind of meh. Mala was BEAUTIFUL and booming with life!! Easily saw 30+ turtles, juvenile and adult white tip reef sharks, an eel, puffer fish and a ton of other small friends. I also came down with a cold as soon as I hit the island and have been having issues with congested ears. I'm thankful that the shop was flexible with me being able to swap to a different day to give the congestion time to die down (it didn't) as well as some tips to kick it so I could get my diving in. Thankfully everything went well and I'm so glad I chose to go with Maui Diving! read more

We dove with this company for 2 dives in Maui. 2 stars for several reasons. 1. If you rate this company 5 stars they give you a free coozie. I feel that having to buy reviews with free merch is NOT honest. YOUR experience should provide 5 star reviews. This place did not. Go elsewhere! 2. We had to wait 20-30 min each dive (an hour for both dives) for the dive instructor to find parking for the dives. This company as no reserved parking and we had to wait an undefined amount of time for someone else to move their car so we could dive. We could have sat there for hours but thankfully only had to wait 30 min. 3. I told the instructor I got cold easily and he gave me a wet suit with several holes in it ... where my skin was exposed. After complaining he found me another hole free suit. If you've ever taken on and off a wetsuit this process is not fun and I should have been given proper gear from the beginning. There are so many companies on the island. Go with someone else that provides better service. read more
