Maui DJ Services DJ'd our January 2020 wedding at Olowalu Plantation House and they were fantastic. While we didn't meet Scott in person until the day of the event (destination wedding!), they were really easy to work with. The online portal they provided us was easy to use and comprehensive, and Scott was responsive to all our questions and requests (including working with a family member directly who prepared a slideshow for the wedding). Their website has a schedule planner and I really liked that it gave suggestions on the order of events for the wedding e.g. Grand entrance, dinner, first dance, toasts, etc. Personally, I am not too experienced with weddings so it was super helpful to see how people usually do things. Their website also has options to link to spotify for songs you want in your wedding and it was very convenient. For the actual wedding, our MC was DJ Mike and he was very good at hyping our crowd up. Our guests even mentioned to us that they liked the MC. Scott was excellent to work with for our wedding at Olowalu! We happened to be in Maui about six months before our wedding so were fortunate enough to get to meet him in-person before our big day, but it was such a seamless experience working with Maui DJ Services, that I'm confident things would've worked out great even if we hadn't had that opportunity. They have an online platform where you can fill in all your reception details and special songs (e.g. grand entrance, first dance, father-daughter dance, etc.), as well as where you can add any dinner music and dancing requests, allowing you to prioritize between must-plays and other songs. We had a pretty full list of songs across genres that we'd added to the platform, but Scott was able to turn this into great playlist, reading our crowd and filling in the gaps with other songs that were hits with our guests, as well as incorporating all our friends' random song requests without missing a beat. He's also a really great MC, and was able to incorporate a number of last minute asks from us, including playing two recorded speeches and introducing a six person toast from my college friends. Michael DJ'd our wedding at Olowalu Plantation House last month and we couldn't be happier! My husband and I work in the music industry so we had some very specific music requests, all of which Michael handled beautifully. Our wedding and reception was held at Gannon's on 02/08/14 and our decision to book a DJ was last minute through our wedding planning process. At first we were not able to get a DJ because Gannon's had scheduled a jazz concert the night of our wedding. The concert was cancelled so we were then allowed to have a DJ for our reception. At first we were just going to have a playlist from our iPod and hook it up to a quality sound system. But time was running out (one month before the wedding) and picking out music was too stressful along with the other things we needed to take care of. I searched for a Maui DJ on Yelp and came across Maui DJ services because of all the good reviews. After reading all the reviews I was convinced this was our DJ. I contacted Scott Doran who is the owner and he so was so nice and helpful. I let him know the time and place of our event and thankfully that date was available. He has also DJ'ed at Gannon's before which was a plus because Gannon's has all these policies on DJ music. I let Scott know that we wanted a DJ for 4 hours during our phone conversation. Shortly after he sent a quote for our event to my email. The price was very reasonable. The quote even included prices if you wanted to upgrade your DJ package. We just opted for the 4-hour package with no other upgrades. We pretty much just cared about having music. He also sent a form where you can list all the songs you would like played. Songs for cocktail hour/dinner hour, first dance, dad-daughter dance, son-mother dance, cake cutting song, dance songs must play and even songs that you don't want played! We filled out the form as soon as we could and emailed it to Scott. From that point on we didn't have to worry about anything except payment. You can pay half of your bill up front and then the other half the day of the event. Payments were super easy and convenient. The day of our event ran so smoothly. We didn't get to see him when he first started playing music because we were busy taking pictures, but we could hear that everything started on time. We even could hear some of our favorites songs that we requested. Scott even took the time to come up to us and introduce himself and congratulate us while we were taking pictures! He asked us how we wanted to signal him once we get ready to enter the reception. I was relieved that we were discussing this beforehand because we weren't even clear on how we would make our entrance. We finished the dinner hour a little early and people started to get up and move around a little. Scott came up to us and asked us if we would like for him to keep playing the dinner music or get right into the dance music. We told him to start playing the dance music because we wanted the party to get started! Gannon's has a policy that dance music cannot be played until after 9 pm so we were super excited that we got an extra hour of dancing due to Scott! Most of the songs that we had on our list got played. Even though not all of our top songs were played we didn't complain because we were still dancing and everyone had fun. I could not have asked for a better reception or DJ. Scott was very nice and super easy to work with. If you need a DJ for your next event in Maui I highly recommend Maui DJ services! read more

Maui DJ Services and its owner, Scott, is without a doubt one of the most professional and courteous vendors that I've ever worked with. A friend recommended Scott to us after using Maui DJ Services for her own wedding a few months earlier. As soon as I contacted Scott, I knew we had made the right decision. He was so easy to work with and always pleasant and courteous in his communications..not to mention that he always, ALWAYS got back to me within a few hours of contacting him. He answered every single question that I had and worked with us to understand our requirements and budget, and when we finally met him in person on the day of the wedding, he was just as friendly and affable as he was in his emails. In addition to providing DJ services and music, Maui DJ Services also provides different lighting packages and equipment rental (we ended up renting a projector and screen from them for a slideshow), all at reasonable prices. As part of the DJ services, they sent over a list prior to the wedding that we could fill out of "Must Play", "Do Not Play", and first dance / special song requests. Scott definitely did his best to accommodate everything we listed as well as the numerous requests that he got from our guests, and while he wasn't able to play everything we included, he got creative and started mixing some of the songs at the end so he could fit as many of them as he could. It was definitely a relief to be able to work with such an exceptional vendor and have one less thing to worry about. I worked with DJ Michael on a client's destination wedding in Maui at Sugar Beach Events as the planner. My bride and I flew out a couple months before the wedding and Michael met with us to answer all our questions patiently. He and owner Scott were also very responsive over email and on top of all my questions. We had an interesting music setup - live music for most of the wedding, then transitioning over to Michael so that we could amp up the atmosphere for dancing. We were very disappointed with the customer service we received from Scott when we were forced to cancel our wedding due to Covid 19 that was scheduled for June 9th. All other vendors fully refunded our deposit but Scott only returned half of our deposit. After stating that he would refund all or most of our deposit, he elected to refund only half. Cancelling our wedding was heartbreaking, paying for work that did not take place was frustrating. If we are able to reschedule our wedding in Maui, we will find another DJ. read more

Scott is wonderful!! I was only able to say hi to him on the day of our wedding but he comes off so easy going and professional! Our wedding coordinator gave us a list of DJs and when I saw Scott's website and heard Don Omar-Danza Kuduro playing in his video, I KNEW he would be our DJ!! I was dancing in place while watching his video, haha. And thank goodness we chose him because he specializes in all the wedding lighting and music so everything came at a good price!! I know this because the cost of our ceremony sound system dropped about 28%!! We held our wedding in June at a fantastic location in Kihei, and had the privilege of working with Scott and Maui DJ Services. From planning to execution, we could not have asked for more. When we first found the Maui DJ Services website, we realized that they have a wide array of sound and light equipment, and can operate anything from a small wedding to a full-blown group event. Initially, this was a bit overwhelming for us since we are not in the know of the different ranges of equipment and what would be needed for a wedding like ours. Once we contacted Maui DJ Services and spoke with Scott (the owner) we felt that he was very honest and forthright about helping us choose the right package for our wedding without selling us on features and equipment that we would not need. Ultimately, the set up he helped us choose was spot-on. Leading up to the wedding, my wife-to-be was very adamant about the type of music that she wanted played from the start of the reception, all the way through dinner and dancing. Scott made it a breeze for her to choose the different genres, and was ultra-accommodating with ensuring that certain songs she had chosen were worked in to the play list. On the day of the wedding, Scott and his team arrived right on schedule and set up their sound, lighting and other equipment quickly and efficiently: I even overheard some of the other vendors commenting on how great he was to work with, and some of them had worked with him on previous events as well, which made us feel better that he had a good reputation in the "events circuit" on Maui. During the wedding, the playlist was awesome and Scott kept our family and friends going up until the very last minute: if the place did not have a curfew, we could have likely gone all night!
