As a PP on the mainland, I was excited to have the opportunity to not only see Maui from the air, but to log some SR22 time too. Just because I do have flight experience, if you don't, do not let that sway you away from this experience. The views of the island are stunning and it's something you wouldn't otherwise experience. My husband and I booked with Laurence and did our flight this morning! We both had so much fun! The flight itself was beautiful! Seeing the sea cliffs so close was an incredible experience! Laurence was so kind and it felt like we had known him forever. The cirrus was beautiful and well maintained! For lunch we stopped at a local grocery store on Lanai for poke, it was delicious!! Laurence was taking photos the entire trip which was awesome so I could spend more time looking out the window and enjoying the views. His photos were beautiful! Just finished a flight with Laurence @ Maui Flight Academy and had an absolute blast. I'm a private pilot and have flown quite a few different aircraft but not a Cirrus until today. It's really an awesome airplane and flies like a dream. Was also my first time flying AoA (Angle of attack) and that was a great eye opener too. Laurence does a great job getting one acquainted with AoA and the aircraft itself really quickly and thoroughly. A great CFI. Overall a terrific experience and IMHO the BEST way to see the islands. Anyone can book a helicopter tour but to get real stick time flying over the most gorgeous landscape in Hawaii in a truly capable and reliable aircraft is a unique experience. Maui Flight Academy is everything you could ever want from such an operation: super professional booking process, great airplane, über friendly instructor. I just completed a tour of Maui with planned touch and go in Hana, but the weather did not cooperate, and we had to turn around right before HNM, with 5 minutes in actual IMC. Being IFR-rated, that was actually even better than yet another touch and go, and Laurence was gracious enough to give me a $100 discount without having to ask for it. Training on the angle of attack indicator was also a wonderful surprise. Now, I'm just looking for my next flight with this great team. Highly recommended! read more

Amazing experience! Did the Big Island package, saw the volcano and the phenomenal waterfalls. Never imagined myself flying a plane, but there I was. Technology these days makes the process very streamlined, and easy to comprehend. The owner is a real professional with decades of experience. It's obvious that he takes excellent care of his customers. Safety is a top priority for him. We had a minor issue with the plane. Maui Introductory Flight Lesson: Round-Trip to Molokai If I could give a zero star rating, I would! I booked this tour through Viator. The reason for this rating is the way in which they Maui Flight Academy cancelled my scheduled flight instruction...by text at 8:00 PM the night before! I'm not disputing the reason for the cancellation (it was for safety), but the timing and method. The night before and by text was very impersonal and frankly unprofessional. They had multiple opportunities to cancel prior to me arriving in Maui. I also called them in the morning the day prior to resend me the required instructional reading material and video. They could have cancelled it then. Sure I would have been disappointed, but at least I could have enough time to book some other quality adventure to my liking. read more

Laurence is absolutely fantastic! My husband and I went flying on our honeymoon as our wedding gift to ourselves. Neither of us had ever flown before, but Laurence was a great teacher. My husband flew for the first leg- he took off in Maui, flew us past the sea cliffs of Molokai (which are unbelievably gorgeous), and then landed in Lanai. Laurence took us for a delicious breakfast overlooking the gardens at the Four Seasons there, and then I flew us back from Lanai to Maui. It was such an adrenaline rush, and all the views were great. THE PERFECT BLEND OF ONLINE GROUND SCHOOL AND LIVE INSTRUCTION. I took the private pilot and instrument ground school with Laurence of Maui Flight Academy. Laurence's program is the best of both worlds for doing an online ground school. Most online ground schools are a series of videos and online chapters without interaction. Laurence uses the videos as well as the zoom video conference to reinforce the material. During the zoom conference, Laurence goes over practice questions and answers. This is a much better way to do the online ground school than just watching videos. I recommend taking this program as opposed to self study. read more

Our concierge at the hotel recommended us to fly to Hana instead of taking the normal drive to Hana. We didn't want to spend the 3 hours to get to Hana, so we splurged and had a great afternoon flying to Hana, having a picnic lunch on the black sand beach, and then flying around the entire Maui island. It took approximately 15 minutes to fly from OGG to Hana, another hours to walk to beach / picnic lunch / walk back, and then another 45 minute flight around Maui. Much better than the shorter helicopter tours that advertise around the island. Lawrence the pilot was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Both my wife and I took off, flew, and then landed with Lawrence's guidance. The flying experience was even worth an hour of flight instruction time (for those amateur pilots out there). Working towards my pilots license, I decided to do a flight training session rather than a helicopter ride. Was given material to read and understand so I knew what was going on during the flight which was incredibly helpful. Was notified via my preference of text or email about location, directions, and more. My flight instructor was with Laurence and he was phenomenal. We flew over to Molokai, touched down, saw some epic waterfalls, valleys and even caught a glimpse of an off the grid tribe. This was the highlight of our time in Maui!! I would highly recommend taking the aerial tour of Hawaii even if you're not interested in flight instruction. My hubby flies the Cirrus SR22 G2 at home and he was really excited about flying over Hawaii. From the time we met Laurence to the end of the trip (which went by way way too quickly) everything was top notch. Loved that he made safety a first priority. We opted for the flight over Molokai cliffs & waterfalls and uploaded tons to photos to share. STUNNING! My husband and I went flying today with Lawrence he is an absolute professional. We went on the Pearl Harbor tour-my late Grandfather was a pilot during World War Two and I couldn't help but think he was with us today enjoying the unbelievable view from the coast of Maui. Seeing the waterfalls, the rainforest and the approach over The Arizona was something we will always remember. I flew from Maui to Honolulu and really wanted to fly back but it was so fabulous I wanted my husband to experience the thrill so gave the pilots seat to him to fly us home. My sister and I went flying to Molokai and Lanai with Laurence. This was one of the most exhilarating experiences in our lives. Laurence is a natural teacher. Wow, my husband and I booked this excursion at the recommendation of Marriott Wailea concierge. My husband lives to fly and we jumped at the opportunity to fly from Maui to the big island and see the volcano. The day before our flight, the weather pattern was changing and they checked in with us indicating it was a possibility it would be cancelled. Safety was our highest priority and appears to be theirs too. As it was our last day here, they graciously allowed us to cancel the reservations with no fee penalty since they couldn't guarantee we would be taking the flight and allowing us to make alternative plans!
